Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1508
Chapter 1508: If I am not by your side, whose side should I be?
“It’s alright now; Ji Chi will get better.” Ji Ziming hugged Pei Ge’s shoulders lightly as he consoled her.
“Sir, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave now. Just look for me if anything happens to little master.” The doctor removed his hair cover and looked at the man as he spoke. “The boy is fine now.”
“I got it; go and rest.” His cold voice rang as his gaze followed the woman around. He did not even turn to look at the doctor as he spoke.
“Alright.” The doctor took off his mask and headed back to his office.
Pei Ge waited outside the operating room for the nurses to bring her son out. The boy was lying on a gurney with a pale face when he was finally wheeled out. She dashed to her son sans a care for the pain brought by the blister in her ankles due to rushing about while wearing high heels.
“Slowly, slowly.” Ji Ziming timely supported the woman when he saw her nearly falling from her haste. “Our son is alright, so don’t be anxious anymore.”
“That’s different. He’s never been by my side since he was young, and now this has happened to him; Ziming, do you know how horrible and worried I feel right now. I wish that the person lying on this bed due to food poisoning is me, instead.”
“I know; I know.” He hugged her tightly as the nurses pushed their son’s bed to a VVIP ward.
“Ge Ge, listen to me; have you considered Ji Chi’s food poisoning this time not being an accident but being caused by someone, instead?”
“Caused by someone? Who would do that to our son? He’s still so young.”
The woman’s eyes brimmed with tears, and her pitiful look made the man’s heart wrench with guilt.
“Then, why are our other children fine?”
With this reminder, Pei Ge remembered that, when she rushed into the living room, her other kids were right beside Ji Chi. Since she was very anxious, she had totally forgotten about them. They were fine then, except for their brother, who was lying on the sofa feebly.
“The only suspicious person in the house is Qu Jingwan.” She regained her rationality and shook her head. “How could it be her? Ping An depends on her a lot. What is her motive for doing this? I can’t think of what motivated her in acting against our son. If she really did it, I wouldn’t let her off.”
“I’ll investigate this matter thoroughly, so don’t think about it anymore. The important thing now is to take care of our son. Since he’s out of danger now, he’ll recover slowly. I’ll call home later to inform the rest.”
“Alright.” She nodded, and seeing this man accompanying her, she wrapped her arms around his neck and choked. “Ziming, thank you; thank you for being by my side.”
“Silly, what nonsense are you talking about? If I’m not by your side, whose side will I be? Are you panicking because our son’s matter?’
“I admit that I’m panicking, and if it not for you, it’s possible that I—”
“Stop crying and dry your tears. If someone sees this, they’ll think that I’m bullying you.”
Ji Ziming smiled gently following her grateful words, and his usually chilly aura completely dissipated.
Just as the couple entered the VVIP ward, Madam Ji called.
“Son, how is my grandson doing now? Is he still in danger? Did the doctor say what’s his condition?’
Her series of questions caused the man’s head to hurt. He gave her an answer as if throwing a tantrum. “He is no longer in danger and is already in his ward. He’ll wake up soon.”
“It’s great that he’s out of danger. I’ll go visit him now.”
“Mom, you don’t have to come over; Pei Ge and I are here, and that’s enough.”
He hurriedly rejected his mother’s offer as his subconscious was informing him that, if she came, Qu Jingwan would, too.
“She is pregnant right now; can she take care of the boy when she herself needs care, too.”
The older woman was worried, feeling that Pei Ge was unable to take care of the boy. She looked at the lady beside her and said all of a sudden, “If that’s the case, I shan’t head there, but I’ll get Jingwan to care for Baby as she’s close to him. You guys weren’t home today, and she’s the one taking care of the boy, so let her go there.”
Her words unintentionally exposed that the lady was the one who took care of the boy and other two children today, but even now, Qu Jingwan still had no idea what the boy had eaten to end up like this.
“No need; there are people here to care for him, so none of you need to come.”
The man’s words contained viciousness and aloofness, as well as the tyranny of a king. “If there’s anything else, I’ll inform you again.”
He hung up after speaking that and did not give his mother a chance to refuse.
On the other end, Madam Ji shot a look at the lady before sighing. “Baby is alright, so you don’t need to worry anymore.”
“Really? Thank goodness. Everything is good as long as he’s fine.” Qu Jingwan’s feigned sincerity made her appear like a monk in the temple.
“I originally intended for you to go to the hospital and accompany the boy and Pei Ge, but my son didn’t agree to it regardless of my will. He even hung up on me, and it’s infuriating me to death.”
The older woman felt indignant for this lady, but there was nothing she could do.
This was the first time Qu Jingwan felt happy that the man was unwilling to meet her. The man heard earlier that she took care of the boy the whole day, so he would probably skin her alive the moment he saw her, and this was especially the case for Pei Ge.
Her gaze became exceptionally vicious and clouded with cunningness.
Everything that Pei Ge was enjoying presently would one day be hers. There was a perfect opportunity at the moment to get hold of. Since she had become so aggrieved all thanks to her, she would want to have everything the woman had. She had already gotten hold of the boy, and now all that was left was the man, as well as the entire family’s wealth.
The older woman lowered her head and thought about how to send Qu Jingwan to her son’s side while completely being unaware that the lady standing beside her had such evil thoughts.
In the VVIP ward, Pei Ge watched the man hang up the phone and walk inside. She inquired softly, “How is it?”
“Qu Jingwan took care of the boy the entire day; the test result will be delivered by the hospital shortly.”
“It’s really her?” She gripped her son’s blanket until her knuckles turned pale and her veins practically bulged.
“I don’t get why she did this to our son. She knows that you’re feigning your pregnancy; is she perhaps using this to pressure you?”
The man’s conjecture was not without logic.
