Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1328
Chapter 1328: She wants to be with Ji Ziming and live in the moment.
Pei Ge put the two kids to sleep after their lunch and then went to the living room.
Ji Ziming had cleaned up the kitchen and dining room by then.
She felt like laughing when she saw him still in an apron.
This man was really just like before…
She remembered their days of cohabitation; they always worked in a pair, with one cooking and the other washing the dishes. This person was a well-known ruler of a commercial empire, yet, in front of her, he was just like any ordinary man.
He’s merely my lover…
“What are you thinking about?”
Removing his apron, the man washed his hands and walked toward her while posing that question.
She finally reacted to his presence.
“I’m thinking about you.”
She smiled at him and spouted such romantic words.
That was right. She was thinking of… their happy days together five years ago…
Hah… Little did she know that five years would pass by in the blink of an eye.
“Thinking of me?”
The man’s lips twitched as he looked curiously at her.
“That’s right. I’m thinking of how much time we wasted…”
She felt emotional and could not stop thinking that if there were no misunderstandings between them back then, what would they be like today?
Ji Ziming was stunned by the woman’s words. Seeing the despondence on her face, the corners of his lips curled and he gently pulled her into his embrace.
“Silly. We’re now together, and that’s all that matters.”
“Yes, I’m indeed overthinking things.”
Pei Ge agreed and rested her head on his chest.
That was right. Everything was in the past. Whether they wished for it or not, all those things had happened already.
She was really overthinking things and bothering herself with matters already outside her control. She should just focus on their family’s well-being right now. That… should be enough.
“Right. Where have you been this afternoon? Where were you when I called you?”
She suddenly recalled that he had gone out this afternoon and looked at him suspiciously.
“Mhm? I was just settling some work-related matters.”
The man’s eyes darkened at her reminder before shrugging it off.
“Work?”
She felt that something was off but could not pinpoint what it was exactly.
“That’s right. Work. My trip here is very unplanned, so a lot of stuff back home wasn’t handled properly, and I had to leave earlier to settle all of it.”
He hugged her and whispered this in her ear.
“Don’t worry; I won’t leave An An and Ran Ran alone again.” He told her apologetically and then gently placed a kiss next to her ear.
“It’s good that you know.” She lifted her chin and huffed.
The two stood there in the kitchen entrance and hugged for a little longer before he led her to the small garden outside the villa by the hand.
Surrounded by flowers in the garden, the sunlight shone warmly on the two and they looked exceptionally beautiful.
In this warm atmosphere, he made tea for her as they chatted.
“Tell me all about the kids when they were younger…”
Her heart softened upon seeing his cold features easing at his mention of their children.
“Perhaps because they were born prematurely, ever since their birth, they have been nothing but obedient.”
She looked so happy as she spoke of her son and daughter’s childhood. Her face was shining so resplendently that none could ignore it.
“When our son was much younger, he was just like you—very serious and treated everyone coldly. As for our daughter…”
Pain flashed across her eyes when she mentioned their girl.
“That lassie’s health hasn’t been great since she was born and has gone through a major surgery back then. You don’t know this since she’s so active and bubbly now, but she used to have a heart ailment. Even with the surgery, she’s still weaker than the average kids.”
The man pursed his lips into a straight line following her words.
His children were actually born prematurely… He really did miss out on so many things. It must have been tough for her to take care of the two…
“It’s been tough on you all these years…”
Lifting his hand, he rested it on her fair and slender hand.
“It’s not tough at all. They’re my children—my precious babies. Even if it appears to be very tiring, for me, it isn’t at all. Rather, I’m truly thankful for them. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”
Back then, she was met with so many misfortunes and was in despair at the world.
If her children had not appeared in her world, she would probably still be out of sorts.
“What about you? Tell me more about Ji Chi…”
Although the boy’s mother was Qiao Jingyun, she had an unspeakable sense of love for the child.
She would subconsciously treat him as her own.
“He…”
Upon hearing her ask about the boy, the man frowned slightly and did not know what to say for a moment.
That was because he had never taken part in his son’s life even now…
“What’s wrong?”
Seeing him frown, she blinked curiously.
“Nothing. It’s just that that child, I…” He paused, feeling upset. “I’ve never thought of him because it’s my parents who have been watching over him from the very start.”
She was full of smiles just then, but now, she looked upset and cold when she heard him admit that.
“You’re his father! How could you do that?!”
Even though it was that vile woman’s child, she still considered the boy as her own; thus, she could not help but chastise this man.
She made it sound as if it was her flesh and blood who had been mistreated by the man.
“…”
Her reaction had of course caused the man to be taken aback, and he spoke defensively in an aggrieved manner.
“It’s just that I don’t like Ji Chi’s mother…”
