Pika Pika No Mi In Marvel - Chapter 42
Chapter 42: Essex Corporation
Suddenly, Jean’s hand that was holding Yu Feng’s arm tightened, and her body froze.
“There’s someone…”
Yu Feng’s gaze shifted as he looked at Jean.
Jean nodded, her small face serious. “But it seems like they’re not from the circus.”
As she spoke, a figure suddenly appeared around the corner up ahead.
It was clear that this person wasn’t part of the circus. He was dressed as a mercenary, holding an assault rifle, and his sharp gaze scanned the surroundings. When he looked in Yu and Jean’s direction, he furrowed his brow.
After a brief pause without discovering anything, he turned and went in another direction.
Seeing the mercenary leave, Jean lowered her index and middle fingers from her temple. Thanks to her telepathic interference, the mercenary wouldn’t be able to see them even if he looked directly at them.
But the appearance of this mercenary raised suspicions. “To think that mercenaries have shown up… Something must have happened within the Munich Circus,” Yu Feng said, wearing a pensive expression.
He had initially thought that the Nightcrawler would appear here, but now it seemed that it wasn’t as simple as that. There was likely an organization infiltrating the Munich Circus, possibly with the specific intention of finding Nightcrawler.
After all, the Munich Circus had advertised itself so prominently and deliberately used “demon” as a gimmick. In this sensitive period when mutants were becoming more known to the world, it was easy to attract the attention of organizations interested in mutants.
“Yu, what should we do next…?” Jean’s gaze flickered as she looked at Yu, clearly showing an increased curiosity.
“Let’s go and take a look,” Yu Feng replied. “Things seem to have gotten interesting. I won’t miss out on this opportunity.”
He waved his hand and proceeded further into the depths of the Munich Circus. Jean followed closely behind him. The backstage of the Munich Circus wasn’t particularly large. It consisted of a few temporary structures with a circus-like Mongolian yurt aesthetic.
There were mercenaries surrounding the area and some well-dressed individuals who looked difficult to deal with. Their sharp gazes resembled eagles. At this moment, they were setting up a circle of electrified fences.
These electrified fences emitted a special electromagnetic field that interfered with the abilities of mutants. As mutants themselves, getting too close without special equipment would immediately reveal their presence.
“Yu, these electromagnetic fields are specifically designed to interfere with mutant abilities. They’re almost impossible to overcome. As mutants, we’ll be instantly detected if we get near without any special devices,” Jean furrowed her delicate eyebrows, looking towards Yu Feng.
However, Yu Feng suddenly curled up the corners of his mouth, wearing a confident expression. “These electromagnetic fields may interfere with or even block the abilities of mutants, but… I’m not a mutant!”
Over the years, Yu Feng had used various technological means to test whether his abilities would be affected by special electromagnetic waves or fields. The results showed that there was no impact, at most, some minor interference with the discharge of his aura.
But there was simply no way to block his abilities.
“Jean, as we’ve trained before, I’ll assimilate you with light. And you, in your light state, unleash your telepathic abilities. Let’s just go in like this.”
“Directly go in? Are you sure?” Jean looked at Yu Feng with wide eyes.
“Trust me.” Yu Feng smiled faintly, grabbing hold of Jean’s hand.
With a subtle flash of light, Jean quickly transformed into a complete light elemental state.
“Mm! I believe in you.”
Taking a deep breath and observing Yu Feng’s confident appearance, she immediately followed his lead.
Under the strengthening effect, she focused her thoughts and completely unleashed her telepathic power.
In that instant when her power expanded…
The mercenaries and well-dressed agents froze in place as if time had stopped. Not a single eye moved.
Seemingly frozen in time.
Seeing this, Yu Feng smiled faintly, giving Jean a praising look, and the two of them casually walked towards the guarded entrance.
Opening the door…
“Tsk… The conditions inside this circus seem quite good,” Yu Feng looked around, finding everything tidy and neat, adorned with some artwork.
In the center were two groups of people. One group was dressed in colorful and bizarre costumes, clearly the internal members of the Munich Circus. The other group consisted of a man in a gray suit wearing glasses, accompanied by four mercenaries with serious expressions.
In between the two groups was a peculiar-looking box, as if it contained something.
At this moment, all of these people were motionless.
Jean glanced at the man in the suit with glasses, blinked her eyes, and then turned to Yu Feng, saying, “Yu, it seems like these people are from a company called the Essex Corporation. They received information from a middleman called Caliban, claiming to have sensed a very powerful mutant presence in the Munich Circus. The Essex Corporation wants to capture this powerful mutant.”
“Hmm?”
“The Essex Corporation? Received information from Caliban? Sensed a very powerful mutant presence in the circus?” Yu Feng pondered for a moment.
