Pika Pika No Mi In Marvel - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Another Mysterious Substance
The images were black and white photographs, devoid of bloody colors.
Some were even quite blurry.
However, they emitted a bone-chilling coldness, penetrating to the marrow.
Especially for Jean, tears seemed to glisten in her widened eyes.
“This… is so cruel…” she murmured softly.
Yu Feng, on the other hand, remained calm, but a heavy expression crossed his face.
He recognized some of the mutants in the photos.
Several of them were the mutants who appeared in the first battle, and the most recognizable one was the Red Devil.
Yu Feng could tell at a glance, without even needing to look at the written files.
After all, the Red Devil’s appearance was too iconic.
There was also Salvador, the former dancer who was recruited by Professor X and Magneto but later defected to the Hellfire Club.
She had insect-like wings and could attack with flames and venom.
However, her wings had been severed now.
Her head remained intact, but the front part of her body had been dissected, revealing her internal organs…
It was a pitiful sight!
Then there was Sean Cassidy, the Banshee, who had always followed Professor X.
He was a mutant who could emit special sonic waves.
His entire body had been mutilated beyond recognition, with his limbs, hands, torso, face, and skull all dissected…
It was bloody, cruel, and inhumane!
This was the status and situation of mutants in the past few years.
Although Yu Feng wasn’t a pure mutant, in the eyes of ordinary humans, anyone with “special abilities” was considered an anomaly, and he was no exception.
Seeing this scene, it would be fake if he claimed to have no emotional response.
“These should be the experimental data materials originally belonging to Bolivar Trask, right? It seems that after the Washington incident, Professor X and Hank managed to bring the things from Trask Industries to the school…” Yu Feng thought to himself.
It was understandable.
Even though Bolivar Trask had been overthrown, if the things he researched fell into the hands of someone with ulterior motives, it would be disastrous.
As a precaution, Professor X and Hank naturally wanted to keep these things in their own hands.
Hank’s expression turned somewhat gloomy.
After all, some of the mutants who had died during the experiments had been his friends.
He paused for a moment, seemingly adjusting his emotions, and then continued: “This is how humans conduct experimental research on us, mutants. They desire to control mutant genes and turn them into weapons.”
“And this is the key point I want to tell you two.”
Hank’s voice became solemn.
“The study of genetics and genealogy is not for the purpose of creating biological weapons or destroying others. It is for making the world a better place, to solve diseases and protect lives, understand?”
As he spoke, Hank pressed a button, and the images changed to a scene of Bolivar Trask being captured.
It was accompanied by some images and reports of mutants and ordinary humans living in peace, serving as a kind of ideological education with a negative example and, finally, a positive image.
Upon hearing this, Jean nodded vigorously.
“Professor Hank, I understand!”
Yu Feng, on the other hand, twitched his lips.
Uh… Well, he knew that this was essentially an ideological education class…
Yu Feng, with a mind and soul far beyond his age, couldn’t be “educated” by a few words from Hank.
To him, the study of genetics and genealogy was simply another channel to discover more “mysterious substances.”
“I wonder if those gene potions, serums, and such that can grant people special abilities count as ‘mysterious substances’?” he pondered in his mind.
Just as he was thinking about it, Hank closed the curtain and turned on the overhead lights, brightening the entire place.
At the same time, Hank led Yu Feng and Jean to the front control room of the aircraft.
However, this control room wasn’t a real one.
It looked more like an experimental storage room, storing relatively precious experimental specimens.
What caught their attention was a glass counter-like object that emitted a strange blue glow when illuminated, with a faint flow of cold air visible inside the glass.
Seeing this, Yu Feng couldn’t help but marvel inwardly.
It seemed that Hank had been busy with other things when constructing the Blackbird aircraft.
The glass counter should contain some special gene serums, right?
And indeed, as Yu Feng suspected.
Hank smiled and quickly introduced, “Yu, Jean, let me show you some of the results I’ve obtained in my years of research in biology and genetics. Strictly speaking, they aren’t anything profound, just some souvenirs that have become mostly useless now.”
“Some of them were originally developed for special purposes.”
“Like this one.”
Hank pointed to a dark yellow test tube. “Initially, I developed this serum to suppress the physical changes in our appearance caused by the mutant genes within us, without affecting our superhuman abilities…”
As he spoke, he opened the glass and took out the serum from the refrigeration unit.
Inside the syringe was a transparent bluish-green serum with a peculiar color.
Jean looked at it curiously.
However, at that moment, Yu Feng’s eyes suddenly flashed because at that moment, the familiar voice resounded in his mind:
“Sensing the appearance of a mysterious substance…”
