Chapter 9: The Abundance of Happiness in the Village!

As Ning Fei fished, the viewership count had reached over 90,000.
He was on the way back, and his popularity still wasn’t affected.
No one knew about the White Dragon Fish. The viewers only saw him catching a long white fish, before setting it free again. They had no idea that it was a spiritual fish that had once protected the country by being a medium for a divine being.
The urban cities and lifestyles had resulted in a loss of people’s respect and fear for nature.
However, Ning Fei knew that although some things couldn’t be described, their existence was nonetheless real.
Ning Fei left the river at around 4:00 p.m., so he hadn’t spent a really long time fishing.
Everyone was still fervently discussing how awesome Ning Fei was today and the types of fish that he had caught.
At this time, Ning Fei halted his footsteps.
‘What’s wrong?’ The viewers were confused.
Ning Fei explained to the drone, “I think I can only go back later. The dog that lives in the east and the other one that lives in the west are fighting again.”
‘What? A dog fight?’
‘Where? Where are they? Host, let me take a look!’
‘Wow, this is happening?’
They were intrigued by Ning Fei’s words.
Ning Fei scratched his nose when he read the comments. He couldn’t fathom why would they enjoy watching something like that.
He adjusted the angle of the drone, and it zoomed in on a stone pathway that led to the village. There were a dozen brown mongrels biting at each other.
Rather than biting, they were merely being playful.
Dogs were different from other animals. Even the ordinary mongrels weren’t that wild nor violent.
As the saying went, a dog threatened based on its master’s power. There were short videos circulating online about how a dog would bark at someone else when its owner was carrying it. But once the owner had relinquished his grip, the dog would turn docile again.
Dogs were highly intelligent creatures, and if it predicted that it might be harmed, it would retreat.
Cockerels were the exact opposite of dogs. A Cockerel wouldn’t attack normally, but it would never admit defeat once it started. This was why people in ancient times loved to watch cockerels fight. If two cockerels were to come to a fight, it would turn bloody as both animals wouldn’t rest until the other one was dead. The ending would always result in the death of a cockerel and serious injuries sustained by the other.
There were also videos of geese acting similarly. Geese had a bad temper, and Ning Fei jokingly called it the “Geese influence”.
If someone had angered a goose, that creature would tail him or her incessantly. Its pose would also be menacing.
These dogs were mongrels, and they looked alike.
The viewers couldn’t help but be amused.
‘Host, how do they differentiate friend from foe?’
‘Exactly! What happens if they accidentally hurt their friend?’
‘Haha! I guess they rely on their sense of smell?’
‘This pack of dogs is just playing!’
Ning Fei replied politely to answer their doubts, “Everyone, look carefully. The dogs with the curly and erect tails are from the west side of the village. As for why they are doing this, I really can’t explain. Those dogs whose tails are not erect are from the east side.”
“Usually they play around in their own pack. Occasionally, if two packs of dogs meet, they would play and fight.”
The viewers were amused by Ning Fei’s explanation.
‘Haha! So such a thing could happen?’
‘I learned something new today!’
‘This is the abundance of happiness in a village!’
‘Host, shouldn’t you stop the fight?’
‘Yeah! You should mediate the fight!’
‘We want to watch you stop them!’
‘If you intervene, I’ll send a rocket!’
Suddenly, the direction of the comments changed, and the viewers were clamoring for Ning Fei to intervene and mediate.
Ning Fei certainly wouldn’t interfere with the dogs. They were merely playing, and he might get hurt if he got embroiled. He had also always liked cats and dogs, so watching these dogs fool around was also fun.
“Everyone, please don’t pressure me! I want to live for a few more years!” Ning Fei jokingly replied, and everyone chuckled in amusement.
At this time, another dog appeared. It was colossal, and even though it was also brown, that dog was evidently more special.
It was Sunny.
The moment Sunny appeared, all the dogs bowed their heads and ceased their fighting. Every dog looked alert and cautious, and they separated into two groups.
And all of the dogs turned to look at Sunny with a look of acknowledgment.
Indeed, the packs of dogs were just as what Ning Fei had described. The dogs with the curly erect tails were a group, while the other dogs formed a second group. Both packs of dogs were entirely different.
‘Hey, it’s Sunny!’
‘F*ck! This dog has muscles all over!’ someone commented in amazement.
‘Who can guess Sunny’s breed?’
‘It’s the descendant of the previous leader of the dogs! It is also currently in control of all the wild dogs in the village.’
‘What the hell? Did these dogs watch a mafia movie?’
‘This is the dog with passion and fire that stands at the summit! The all-mighty Sunny!’
‘Brother, seems like you want to challenge Sunny?’
‘I hereby declare Sunny to be the strongest dog in the universe!’
Talent was often hidden amongst these viewers. And everyone couldn’t help but laugh at the incoming rush of funny comments.
Sunny had come for Ning Fei as he was one of the people who were closest to Sunny. So it had always followed Ning Fei around.
Sunny came to Ning Fei’s heels, and he rubbed its head. It might have been a little awkward, but Sunny did seem as though he enjoyed it.
The roads were open, and Ning Fei continued to trudge on with Sunny behind him.
Someone asked, ‘Priest, since all the dogs are fearful of Sunny, wouldn’t Sunny be lonely?’
This question was a deep one.
All the mongrels were terrified of Sunny, so Sunny wouldn’t have any friends. Since ancient times, ferocious beasts were always alone, and they must endure loneliness.
Although Sunny was the village protector in the eyes of the villagers, it had missed out on the joy of playing with the other mongrels.
The particular comment had struck a sentimental chord with everyone.
‘Yeah, poor Sunny.’
‘He doesn’t have any companion?’
Ning Fei was walking as he read the comments on the screen. He soon noticed that everyone was discussing how pitiful Sunny was and how everyone was imploring him to love Sunny more. Doubt and confusion flashed past his eyes.
Ning Fei replied calmly, “Is everyone mistaken about something? From my knowledge, Sunny has at least four wives. In the two packs of dogs, there is at least one from each pack that is on intimate terms with Sunny. Besides, Sunny doesn’t mingle with the dogs from the east and west side. This village is huge, and he has friends all over the mountains. Why would all of you come to such a conclusion?”
Ning Fei looked helpless.
At his words, the webcast room went silent.
A moment ago, the viewers were all spinning a story of how a dog had sacrificed his happiness for the sake of the village’s safety. It had no friends and had to be domineering. As a result, it was lonely and had to seek humans for comfort.
Now they were aware that Sunny had at least four wives!
How could anyone have imagined that?
‘Pfft! Jerk!’
The viewers who were feeling sorrowful earlier on began to get worked up.
