Nine Star Burden - Chapter 85
Chapter 85: Are You a Devil?
Xia Yan thought about it and said, “That’s indeed the case. However, the effects of Green Glow are rather difficult to hide. No one knows what a Gold Quality Green Glow looks like.”
Jiang Xiao thought about it for a while before asking, “Can I use the level of Star Power and attributes to explain it?”
Jiang Xiao was certain that his Silver Quality Green Glow would not destroy Li Weiyi’s shield.
However, the Brass Quality Green Glow belonging to Hai Tianqing actually shattered Li Weiyi’s shield.
Xia Yan grabbed Jiang Xiao’s shoulders and leaned over, after which, he instantly felt the increase in pressure because her sword was really too heavy. “You’re right, but… do you really think you can stop lighting up your Star Map for good from now on?”
Jiang Xiao said, “It’s not too bad. I’m not a Rules Awakened.”
Xia Yan thought about it again and said, “We’ll definitely face situations where we have to go all out in the future. Besides, you do have to light up your Star Map during the college entrance examination.”
Slightly stunned, Jiang Xiao asked, “Is it a must?”
Xia Yan answered after some hesitation, “It’s not mandatory, but everyone would want to show their best side.”
“That means I can choose not to light it up,” Jiang Xiao continued.
Xia Yan nodded and said, “It’s only a matter of time before your special talent gets revealed. Indeed, you can’t hide forever.”
“I know. I need a huge pillar of support,” Jiang Xiao said in a timely manner.
Xia Yan sighed and said, “Yes, you do need a backer. But it’d be terrible if your backer undermines you first.”
Jiang Xiao shrugged his shoulders and said, “Maybe I can be my own backer.”
Xia Yan looked down at Jiang Xiao and burst into laughter, only to realize how serious he looked.
Xia Yan gradually stopped smiling and said, “Children tend to be over idealistic about this world. However, your abilities are indeed very special. Who can predict the future?”
Xia Yan then whipped out two Star Beads from her pocket and secretly placed them on Jiang Xiao’s palm. Kissing him gently on the cheek, she said, “Do your best~”
Jiang Xiao was dumbfounded.
I’m talking to you about serious matters. How dare you flirt with me?
At the next moment, Xia Yan let go of Jiang Xiao’s shoulder and kicked him on the butt before yelling, “Imp. How dare you harbor designs on me!?!”
Jiang Xiao was dumbfounded.
Han Jiangxue turned his head around to see the confused Jiang Xiao and the “angry” Xia Yan…
Was it fun being mischievous?
Of course it was.
Because Jiang Xiao was an expert at that.
Hence, he knew the joy of it.
“Great! Our battle is going to begin now, Mischievous Xia,” Jiang Xiao whispered.
“The battle is going to begin now? It already began when you leaned against that Eurasian girl’s legs and took a photo.” Since Han Jiangxue was no longer looking, Xia Yan dropped the act and revealed a sinister smile.
Jiang Xiao retorted, “She’s a 100% Chinese national. She just looks different from us. Why do you have to discriminate against her?”
Xia Yan tugged her chestnut-colored hair and asked, “Huh?”
“2-1-1,” said Han Jiangxue in front of him.
Xia Yan seemed to be unable to process the information, but she had already subconsciously begun to move forward. She rolled in the snow and arrived next to Li Weiyi.
Jiang Xiao was speechless.
Why… did I argue with Husky Yan?
Have I perfectly integrated into her frequency over time?
A black figure appeared in front of them, which did not seem to be a White Ghoul.
The figure was very thin, and the White Ghouls were very powerful. Even the shorter ones were like small tanks.
However, the shape of his figure did fit that of the White Ghouls which were generally very tall.
A beam of light suddenly landed on Li Weiyi’s face before shuttling between him and Xia Yan.
Due to the glaring light, Xia Yan had no choice but to raise her hand to cover her face. She squinted and peeked through her fingers to look at the woods that were rather far away.
“Entry is prohibited in military grounds. Leave immediately, or you will be risking your own life. You shall bear all consequences,” said a coarse voice from the forest.
Everyone got a great shock.
What’s going on?
Military ground?
There are military grounds in the snowfield too? What are these people doing here?
Eating snow?
“Hold it! Don’t move!” a familiar voice suddenly yelled from behind. It was Hai Tianqing.
This time, the ever-gentle voice of Teacher Hai Tianqing changed and became somewhat serious.
The team of four heard the voice and stood in place properly.
Hai Tianqing continued, “Raise your hands and back away slowly. Be as slow as you can, move back step by step.”
The four of them looked at each other in shock and dismay, after which they raised their hands and took a few steps back.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
All of a sudden, signal flares popped up in all directions in the snowfield.
Unlike usual ones, the color of the flares was not red. It was bright white instead.
Indeed, there were signal flares included in the military backpacks distributed to the teams. However, the flares were all red and they indicated danger and call for help.
However, the flares that were continuously flying in the air at this moment were white. In the dim sky, the white light was extremely dazzling and the entire snowfield seemed to have lit up within just ten seconds or so.
Ten thousand arrows!
Is the entire sky going to be lit up?
Jiang Xiao was slightly stunned and he wondered, There are so many people in the snowfield?
No, no, the signal flares were obviously not fired by someone who entered the snowfield. Were they fired by various supply points and sentries?
Are there that many base points in the snowfield?
What do those white flares mean?
Just as the four of them were feeling shocked by the sight of the multiple arrows, a figure darted out of the forest and seemed to blend into the dim sky in the darkness. He was so fast that it was hard to keep up and locate him.
Hai Tianqing’s face changed drastically and he barked, “Lie on the ground! All of you, get down! You’re not allowed to retaliate!”
Xia Yan looked rather menacing as she frowned and stared at Han Jiangxue.
Li Weiyi was rather bewildered as well and turned to look at the commander.
They could tell that the commander was much more respected than the teachers.
“Han Jiangxue, listen to my orders! Lay down,” Hai Tianqing continued.
Han Jiangxue looked in front and gave it some thought before nodding gently.
The group of four slowly laid down on the ground, feeling rather confused.
“No matter what happens, don’t retaliate.” Hai Tianqing sprawled as well and yelled, “Please treasure your lives.”
Right after the five of them laid on the ground, a strong and overwhelming ray of light suddenly flashed from the forest and cast on everyone.
Jiang Xiao got a great shock and wondered, There are actually so many of them?
He only saw one of the blurry figures under Han Jiangxue’s hint.
“Your identity,” said a coarse voice.
“Jiangbin High School, Hai Tianqing, the practical class teacher of Class 1. Li Weiyi, Han Jiangxue, Xia Yan, and Jiang Xiaopi, the students of Year Three Class 1,” Hai Tianqing continued.
Jiang Xiao felt himself getting picked up by two people who stuck their arms through him, after which a coarse hand was pressed on the back of his head.
Jiang Xiao was not quite bothered by everything that was happening. At this moment, Jiang Xiao thought, Why does my name sound like it doesn’t fit in?
Look at their names, Hai Tianqing and Han Jiangxue. They are such poetic names.
Look at Li Weiyi and Xia Yan. Such pleasant and beautiful names.
But Jiang Xiaopi…
Mommy, are you a devil?
