Chapter 87: Interrogation

Phil Coulson waved his hand, and the agents he had brought with him immediately took over the scene and took control of the team of agents from the precinct.
“Agent Phil Coulson, what do you mean? Although we just had a conflict with Agent Wesley Gibson, this is not a reason for you to arrest us. At most, we have an order conflict.” The SHIELD agents are not simple. An order conflict can cover their actions, but Wesley is not to be trifled with.
He looked at the other party and said, “I didn’t ask for support this time, so how did you know about the situation here? The support I asked for in the afternoon didn’t arrive, and you came uninvited at night, so I have reason to suspect your intentions. The temporary detention is for investigation.”
“You’re just a level four agent. What right do you have to investigate us?”
Phil Coulson smiled and said, “He didn’t, but I did. Agent Wesley is my subordinate, and I have the right to intervene in the investigation. Now, please cooperate.” Then he said to the headquarters agents he brought, “Disarm them, take away all their communication equipment, and detain them for the time being, waiting for us to examine them one by one.” The headquarters agents rushed forward and disarmed them directly. Then they pressed them into the security lounge of the apartment, which was requisitioned.
“How are you going to vet them?” Phil Coulson turned to Wesley.
“You’ll know in a while. Now, check the information of these ambushers first.” Wesley was still wearing his battle armor and could not move easily. “I’ll go back and take it off. It’s a bit in the way.” Then he flew straight up and took the elevator back down again, but this time he put the upgraded version of Blackadder into his internal space. There will be a war tonight.
Downstairs again, he went directly into the security guard’s lounge, where twelve divisional agents were being held. Wesley and Phil occupied the head of security’s office directly. Two chairs were placed behind a desk, directly in front of a chair, and the interrogation began one by one.
The first person to be brought in was the Level Five agent leading the team. He probably knew the most. He cuffed him to the chair in front of the desk and Wesley began his questioning.
“Do you want to explain yourself? Or do you want us to use some means? Or do you think we don’t know anything about you?” Wesley’s opening statement had no characteristics or skills. It was the most ordinary opening statement of an interrogation, which was of no use to a well-trained agent. The other party even looked at Wesley with some contempt, but Wesley was not angry at all. Instead, he stood up and walked behind him, grabbing the back of his neck with one hand.
Wesley pinched the back of his neck, then bent down and spoke in his ear. “You don’t think my interrogation has any skill. You are dismissive of it. Don’t I know that? Then there are two possibilities. I won’t interrogate. Do you believe that?” Wesley asked.
The level-five agent was stunned. Wesley was not trained by an agency affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D., but he had participated in New York Division training and had the best grades. He would not make such a mistake. Then, there was only one possibility. He was telling the truth and not scaring himself.
He hesitated at the thought. It wasn’t easy to judge Wesley’s thoughts, but Wesley didn’t need to be interrogated. He knew everything he needed to know. There were twelve of them, all Hydra personnel, but they were low-level. The others didn’t know much. The Level Five agent was the one who knew the most.
“Okay, have you thought about what to say? Or are you not going to talk?” Wesley released his hand and returned to his seat. Now he was just giving the other party a chance. If he was still hopeful, Wesley would not be polite.
After a psychological struggle, the other party still had no intention of speaking. Instead, he asked Wesley, “You framed your colleague like this. I’ll report your matter to the higher-ups. Even if your identity is special, it doesn’t matter who you are here at SHIELD.”
Wesley laughed when he heard this. “That’s right. Since you bet that I don’t know, I’ll tell you!” Wesley looked into his eyes and said carefully, “Your organization is called Hydra, and it lives in S.H.I.E.L.D. I’m not wrong, am I?” Wesley said with a smile, and the other party felt as if he had been struck by lightning. This matter had always been kept a secret, even at the expense of some people. Now it was known.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. What Hydra? I’ve never heard of it.” He was a little anxious. After saying this, he was also stunned for a moment and knew that he was completely exposed. Hydra was the first opponent of SHIELD. The people who entered SHIELD, especially those trained in SHIELD’s affiliated institutions, their first lesson was to understand Hydra.
Of course, S.H.I.E.L.D. didn’t have much information on Hydra. It was mainly the group led by Red Skull during World War II, and there wasn’t much historical research. Now he said he didn’t know Hydra, but he said it in a moment of desperation. A level five agent like him wouldn’t make such a mistake if he wasn’t too shocked.
“Why did you stop?” Wesley was still smiling at him. “Did you find out that you made a stupid mistake? Actually, it doesn’t matter whether you say it or not. What I just said is just the beginning. But now that you’ve spoken, I won’t continue. All twelve of you are members of this organization. Today’s operation is really against me, and your superior is a level six agent.”
“How do you know? How can you know something that S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t known for decades?” The level-five agent was no longer pretending. The key was how did the other party know such a confidential thing? Their organization had been lurking in S.H.I.E.L.D. for decades, and even if someone suspected it, there was no evidence. Now, the other party said it casually.
“If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it. This is an ancient Chinese saying. Maybe you don’t understand it, but it doesn’t matter. Let me explain it to you. It means that if you don’t want others to know, unless you really haven’t done it, no matter how deeply you hide it, you will still be exposed. Now I’ll give you a chance. As long as you turn to the light, we will give you a chance to make a contribution.” Wesley wanted to induce the other party to be a tainted witness. After all, he didn’t want his ability to be exposed, and at the same time, he was not very convincing.
