New Staff of S. H. I. E. L. D. - Chapter 528
Chapter 528: Business Trip
In the days that followed, Kayla enjoyed her superhero work, and Wesley was like his full-time reporter, constantly covering things about Supergirl.
Of course, Wesley wouldn’t keep reporting in a bland manner, and he wouldn’t report small things at all. If there were too many reports like that, it was easy for people to feel aesthetic fatigue.
However, two months later, Wesley called into Miss Kate Grant’s office. “Wesley, there’s something I need you to do now.”
“What is it? I’m just a reporter. Is there any extra work?” Wesley asked suspiciously.
“Do you just want to be a reporter?” Miss Kate Grant looked disappointed, and Wesley felt wronged. He did want to be a reporter and had no other thoughts. Moreover, this profession made it convenient for him to contact other superheroes and get close to them while fighting for their DNA. “This is the ticket and talent travel fee. You go to the Met. This is the opportunity I fought for. I wanted to invite a photographer from Planet Daily to be our artistic director, but your appearance made me give up the idea.”
Wesley was surprised. No wonder there had never been an art director. So they were inspecting him? “What do you mean?”
“Go there and learn. Follow Louise Lane and stop her for me. Let’s see what else she can do. It’s a pity that Clark Kent is not in Planet Daily anymore. Otherwise, I would prefer you to learn from him.” Miss Kate Grant’s expression was completely different when she said the two different names. The conclusion Wesley got was that she hated Louise Lane and liked Clark Kent. This was the same as in the American drama.
“So I’m going to be in the Met for a while, but what about here?” Wesley didn’t really want to go. After all, Superman wasn’t there, and Kayla wasn’t very mature yet.
“You don’t need to worry too much about this place. The readers have been fixed for three months and it’s much better than before. You’ve only been away for two weeks. When you come back, you’ll be the art director. Do a good job. I have high hopes for you.”
10,000 points really hurt. Wesley was favored by his boss, which left him speechless. He took his plane ticket and check and left. He was very generous. For three thousand dollars, he could stay for two weeks. However, this was not a high-end hotel. He could only stay in a medium-level hotel.
Wesley didn’t talk to Kayla about it until the evening. “Really? Art director? Wesley, you’re amazing. I’ve been working for two years and I’m still a small assistant.” Kayla was happy for Wesley.
“I’m worried about you now. Can you do it alone? I’m not worried about small problems, but you’re still not mature enough for big problems!” Wesley said with a frown.
“Don’t worry, if my cousin can do it, so can I. Don’t worry, it’s only two weeks. I’m sure it’s okay.”
“Alright then, if you have any problems, call me directly. I’ll connect your watch to the Internet. You can call me directly through your watch. My phone can accept your real-time image, but it’s a little inconvenient. I don’t know what the environment is like over there!”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry, there’s no problem.”
Wesley left with his luggage the next day, and his car was now directly open for Kayla. She also had the key to the house. She was in charge of the hygiene of Wesley’s room.
He took a plane to Metropolis. Wesley did want to come and take a look, but that was in the presence of Superman. Now that Superman had left, it was still unknown when. At the same time, Wesley had not seen any news of Flash on the Internet. Could it be that he had not appeared yet? Green Arrow was already famous, but this guy was just an ordinary person. There was nothing worth Wesley’s attention.
Wonder Woman didn’t have a shadow yet. As for the other characters in the comics, Wesley didn’t pay much attention to them. After all, he basically only needed Superman and Flash genes. He didn’t need anyone else’s.
When the plane landed in Metropolis, no one came to pick him up. He needed to report to the Planet Daily News himself and took a taxi directly to the gate of the Planet Daily News. However, he did not get out of the car. It was a fool who walked up with his luggage now.
“Are there any fancy hotels nearby?” Wesley asked as he sat in the car.
“Of course, but what grade do you need?” the taxi driver asked.
“The best.” Naturally, Wesley would not compromise himself. He was used to high-class hotels, and they were much more private.
He checked into the best hotel and asked for a high-class suite. After settling his luggage, he left the hotel. He still did not report but wandered around to familiarize himself with the environment.
It was not that he needed to do anti-reconnaissance, but it was a matter of time now. It was afternoon now. It should be known that the newspaper was most free in the morning and the busiest in the afternoon, especially before the evening layout. Now that no one would pay attention to him even if he went there, he might as well familiarize himself with the environment and see if there were any good cafes and restaurants nearby. In this way, he could live very leisurely for the next two weeks.
He spent an hour on the phone with Kayla that night and then went to bed early. The next morning, he took a briefcase and went straight to Planet Daily. Wesley knocked on the door of the editor-in-chief’s office.
“Please come in.”
Wesley pushed through the door. “Hello, this is Wesley Gibson from the Tribune.”
“Oh, you’re here. I’m Perry White, the editor of Planet Daily. Wasn’t it yesterday’s flight?” the editor asked.
“I know how busy the newspaper office is in the afternoon. I might as well arrange myself and come back this morning. Don’t you have a lot of time now?” Wesley said with a smile.
“Not bad, a very thoughtful young man. I’ve read your article too. It’s very well written. It completely captures the reader’s mind and makes the reader unconsciously want to read it.” Then he picked up the phone. “Louise, come here for a moment. Miss Grant asked you to learn from Louise. She’s an experienced reporter. And now there’s a super girl in your place. This is an opportunity for the Tribune.”
“I understand very well. I hope I can learn more.”
Not long after, the door of the chief editor’s office was pushed open and a woman rushed in. “Chief editor, what’s the matter? I’m going out for an interview soon.”
Wesley looked over. Louise Lane, Superman’s girlfriend. Not yet, of course. There were a lot of Superman versions, and they often rebooted. Wesley didn’t remember much about the heroine in them.
