“So what’s going on with the Avengers?” Wesley continued to ask. He knew very well, but he couldn’t show it. Right now, this is just an idea. It hasn’t been officially established, and Stark is the first person to be invited.
“We’ll talk about that when we get there. There’s someone else who needs to hear it. Tony Stark is Iron Man now. The whole world knows.” Nick Fury got up. “What do you want to drink?”
“Coke and ice, please,” Wesley said.
“Coke with ice? Don’t you want some wine?” Nick Fury asked strangely.
Wesley reached out his right index finger and made a pulling motion with the trigger. “Very good. You are at least dedicated enough. But you are already a millionaire. Why did you choose to join S.H.I.E.L.D.?” Nick Fury poured Wesley a Coke with a few ice cubes and handed it to him.
“I’m interested. Since I can sit at home and count money, I don’t need to make money. Why don’t I find something I like to do? The first 20 years of my life were too boring. Now I want to live a more exciting life. But I want to know why a powerful person like me is an intern agent.”
“Agents and assassins are two different professions. You are indeed very good at killing people, but in the agent industry, you are a newcomer. Advanced electronic equipment, undercover rules, protection regulations, confidentiality regulations, you don’t know anything yet, and we can’t completely trust you, so you can only be an intern agent.”
Nick’s phone suddenly rang. “Hello, this is Nick Fury.”
“What? A big ice cube? Found him? Is he still alive? Okay, I’ll go back when I’m done here and ship it to the New York branch. Yes, that’s it.” Nick Fury looked surprised, and from his words, Wesley felt that Captain America was coming back to life, one after another.
“Aren’t you going to ask?” Nick asked Wesley.
“Didn’t you say there are confidentiality rules? You will say what I should know, but I know you won’t say what I shouldn’t. I’ll just wait.”
“Not bad. You look like an agent now. Take a break now. You still have two hours to get back to California.” Wesley drank his Coke and found a notebook to check the stock of Stek Industries. As Tony Stark admitted that he was Iron Man, the price of the stock began to rise steadily, to $80.65 a share. He has made a lot of money now. Five million shares are already worth more than 400 million. This value will rise again.
Two hours later, the plane landed in California and set off in SHIELD’s car. He didn’t know where he was going, but he soon found out because this was Stark’s home.
“Welcome to Stark Villa. Mr. Tony Stark is not at home. Do you have an appointment?” The voice of the smart system, J.A.R.V.I.S., came. Nick Fury directly pressed the password, then the door opened and J.A.R.V.I.S’s voice disappeared.
“You actually got the password?” Wesley asked in surprise.
“This is the agent. It’s not easy to break in here technically, but it’s different with the password.” Nick Fury said as he walked inside. “We’ll wait here for Tony to come back.”
Wesley walked in and looked around. This was where the rich lived, but it was also a pretty dangerous place. The location was too remote, as if someone had blown it into a pile of rubble in Iron Man 3. Sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, he waited for Stark to come back.
The sky slowly darkened and Tony Stark finally returned. “J.A.R.V.I.S?”
“Welcome back, sir.” J.A.R.V.I.S. spoke again, and Stark saw Wesley sitting on the sofa and Nick Fury, who had his back to him and was looking at the sea.
“Hey, Ace, how did you get in? And who is this?”
“Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Nick turned to look at Stuck. “Mr. Stark, you know that you are not the only superhero in the world. There are others.”
“Is that what you came to tell me?”
“No, we want to discuss with you about the Avengers.”
“What is that? By the way, Ace, I know who you are. Wesley Gibson, right? Now he owns five million shares. I didn’t expect you to be a billionaire. You have a lot of financial talent.”
“I was an accountant before I became an agent,” Wesley said with a smile.
“What? Accountants can be agents?” Tony Stark was completely dumbfounded.
“That’s what I want to talk to you about the Avengers,” Nick Fury said. “Agent Wesley has a different body from others. His heart can beat more than four hundred times a minute and his adrenaline will surge. His vision, hearing, smell, reaction, speed, and strength are all several times that of a normal person. He is also a member of our Avengers plan.”
“What’s the plan? Are you looking for superhumans?”
“Yes, Earth is not the only intelligent life in the universe. At present, we have found traces of alien civilization all over the world, so we need to be prepared. The name Avenger is the most helpless choice when we are attacked by aliens and our army is powerless to resist. We rely on you superhumans to fight back and let those aliens know that we are not powerless.”
“A super-boy team? Sorry, I’m not interested at all. Hey, Wesley, you should come to me. How about you take care of finance?”
“No, I like the exciting life. As long as I have enough money to spend, I’ll wait for the dividends.”
“You’re so cunning. Do you want a drink?” Tony Stark has no interest in the Avengers, and Nick Fury didn’t say much. “We’re leaving. We’ll meet again.”
Wesley didn’t know why Nick Fury had just left. When he came out, he asked, “We came all the way from New York to California just because of what he said?”
“Yes, that’s our job. Most of the creatures we have to face are not from the earth. Are you ready?”
“I just want to know if my gun can deal with them. If not, I can only say that there is nothing I can do.”
“Leave the weapons to us. I think we’ll have good weapons. Get in the car. We’re going back to New York. You can go home and rest. Report to the New York branch in Times Square tomorrow morning. You can start your training.”
“Well, today is the day I fly the most.”
