My Secretary is a Little Sweet - Chapter 635
Chapter 635: Change
Jing Yichen did not think that there was anything wrong with his actions. He did not care if anyone apart from Shangguan Ning was busy or not.
“Mu Qing does not come here for free. He owed you before and he owes you now, as well. He is smart, and you don’t have to feel sorry for him. What is more, it has been you who keeps courting his woman for him and that is a huge favor he owes you. Zhao Anan would never come back to him if he was to do everything by himself!”
Shangguan Ning laughed seeing that he was offering so many reasons to justify his actions.
That evening, Zhao Anan hurried to their house.
She had just become the principal and stayed very busy throughout the day.
It was a totally different experience being a teacher versus a principal.
Teachers only needed to teach, and had time at hand when they did not have any classes scheduled. When Zhao Anan had been a teacher, she could go anywhere she wanted without being in the charge of anyone. She never cared about being promoted, so she had a great time.
But a principal had to do everything. She had constant meetings, seminars and had to read all professors’ material and needed to have in-depth information about the school. What if she was asked about the number of University of X’s students, teachers, subjects as well as other basic information. If she didn’t know any of these things, she would become a laughing stock.
She had come to University of X as the principal all of a sudden and got the position with her contacts. So people were respectful to her on the surface but behind her back, they were looking down at her.
Zhao Anan was quite annoyed about it. She swore that she was going to become a good principal and would make University of X an even better school than before so that those people would realize that her cousin had chosen a capable person!
With pressure came motivation. During the past few days, Zhao Anan had started to wake up before dawn and slept late at night. She had the school material in her hands even when she was eating.
That surprised the Old Lady of the Zhao Family and Zhao Zhao very much. Zhao Anan had changed tremendously in such a short period of time.
She had been very jumpy and fickle since childhood and always had a short span of attention towards something. Had she not been clever, she would not have scored decently at school.
Zhao Anan realised that her grandmother and mother were surprised. But she did not care about them at this juncture. She left home early and returned late every day, and she was really motivated to do well.
However, she had never paid attention to studies because of her personality. Now, she had to focus while reading and needed to memorize things every day. That made her miserable. Worse was that she had to paste a smile to her face while interacting with people and that tired her out. She had become much thinner during the past few days.
But no one had told her about Shangguan Ning and Jing Yichen. It was not until today when two students fought over a girl on the campus that she got to know about it. When one student was taken away by the police, she got to know about the matter after calling Zheng Jing for help.
Shangguan Ning got quite startled at the sight of Zhao Anan when she saw her. She had lost so much weight. Her plump chin had turned pointed and her oval shaped face looked very pretty.
She was wearing a white shirt, black coat and a skirt. She was also wearing a pair of black high-heels which she would never have touched earlier.
Shangguan Ning gasped!
She had asked Jing Yichen to arrange a job for Zhao Anan so that she could take a high position somewhere and learn about social manners. But this was a huge change for her!
She would not have recognized her if they ran into each other on the street.
“Anan, what are you wearing a skirt for? Didn’t you say that you can’t walk with a skirt and what about the shoes? Are these yours?”
Shangguan Ning meant to ask what had happened to Zhao Anan that she became so thin. But she ended up asking about her shoes and skirt, instead.
That was not her fault, because losing weight was a normal thing but skirts and high-heels went totally against her personality.
Shangguan Ning’s question made Zhao Anan return to her original persona, rather than behave like a serious and solemn looking principal.
Zhao Anan kicked off the shoes and sat down by the bedside bare feet. She complained in an annoyed voice. “Terrible shoes, which stupid person invented high heels to torment women? I have got blisters on my feet after just a few days. So much pain!”
Shangguan Ning lowered her head and saw that her pretty feet had big blisters and red traces alongside the toes.
Shangguan Ning felt a bit concerned. She brought out the medicine and dabbed it on the wounds for her. She said with a smile, “Then what are you wearing them for? You were lying about not liking them.”
Zhao Anan felt very glad to see Shangguan Ning dabbing the medicine on her. Her best friend was the most reliable person of all.
If she got to know that this reliable friend was the one who caused the situation to become like this, she would get very annoyed!
But as per Zhao Anan, it was Jing Yichen who arranged this hard task for her because he did not want her to sit idle.
She withdrew the feet and rolled her eyes. “I don’t like high heels! I managed to find one pair with relatively shorter heels. I really wonder how those old women run about wearing such heels.”
The medicine felt cool on her feet and the scorching pain also reduced a bit. Zhao Anan laid down on Shangguan Ning’s bed and complained non-stop.
“When I first went to school, I wore pants and sneakers, but some old spinsters laughed at me. When I went to attend some meetings at the Bureau, I was picked on there, as well. All of them were so annoying. They all looked down at me. They wouldn’t stop picking on me.”
Shangguan Ning laughed and pinched her face. “Principal Zhao, maybe it is because you are too pretty!”
“No, not my face, but my background! They are jealous of me becoming a principal at such a young age.”
