Chapter 94 Such Parents
As Qin Chengxi took out his phone, the sparkle in his eyes turned dim. He pursed his lips and picked up the call.
“Xi? How did it go? We saw Huan coming out.” Dong Yueyun’s anxious voice could be heard over the phone.
“Brother has agreed to forgive you all.”
“Really? That’s great! Son, you are amazing!”
“Haha, I knew it! Sending our son to do the job is effective after all! At the end of the day, Huan isn’t a cold-hearted person!” Qin Wentao’s excited voice and laughter could also be heard over the phone.
“It’s all thanks to me who came up with this great idea!”
“Right, right of course. Most importantly, our son has put on a good show. Ask him what he feels like eating, I will bring him out for a fancy meal tonight!”
Dong Yueyun directed her excitement toward the phone and asked, “Alright. My good son, what do you feel like eating tonight? Mommy will bring you out for a nice meal.”

“Go ahead and say it, mommy will go and make reservations right away.”
Qin Chengxi’s eyelids drooped down and in a soft voice, he asked, “Aren’t you all curious about how I got Brother to forgive you all?”
“Is that even necessary? Based on your intellect, you must have used what I taught you to do. Either you burst out in tears and acted pitifully, or you kneeled down and kowtowed in order to gain his sympathy. Am I right?”
Turned out that after Qin Jinhuan hung up on Qin Xiaozhi’s call, the latter immediately rang Qin Wentao up and asked him to beg for forgiveness from Qin Jinhuan. Otherwise, Qin Wentao would have been chased out of the Qin Family with no questions asked. Otherwise, he was not allowed to return back home.
Qin Chengxi could hear the smugness in his mum’s voice, yet she did not show any sign of concern about his health and condition. Qin Chengxi opened his mouth but eventually had nothing to say. He looked extremely helpless.
“Alright, my good son. Don’t feel wronged. A great man knows when to yield and when to stand tall. Come on out and Mommy will bring you for a fancy meal as a reward for your efforts.”
“Ok.” Qin Chengxi quietly put his phone down after hearing the beeping sound of the call being hung up.
“What’s going on?” Mu Yu had just finished eating a hamburger and was about to pass him one when she noticed an unusual expression on his face. Thus, she hurriedly asked in a concerning voice.
Qin Chengxi acted like everything was fine and laughed it off. Then, he got up and said, “I’m fine. Sister-in-law, I have to head back home now.”
“You haven’t had anything to eat yet!”
“I am not hungry. Please pass my regards and gratitude to my brother.”
“Eh? Didn’t you say that you had a huge secret to tell me?”
“There is no huge secret. I was just kidding, don’t take it too seriously.”
“Oh.” Although Mu Yu felt that something was amiss with Qin Chengxi, she chose not to probe further since he did not feel like sharing. Mu Yu placed down the food in her hands and sent him out.
“Sister-in-law.” As Qin Chengxi arrived at the entrance, he stopped in his steps and asked Mu Yu in a serious voice, “Are you truly in love with my brother?”
Mu Yu was a little confused but nodded her head, though she had no idea why Qin Chengxi would ask such a question.
“Being in love while having the opportunity to be together is so nice.” Qing Chengxi’s expression finally changed from a depressed look to a joyful one.
Upon seeing the envious look on his face, Mu Yu naturally acted like an elder sister and patted him on his frail shoulder. She then smiled and consoled him. “Don’t worry, you will soon meet a girl you love in the future. You just have to take up more initiative and go after her when the day comes.”
“The girl I love…” Qin Chengxi’s face turned gloomy once again.
“What? You already have a girl you love? She—”
“Oh no, no.” Qin Chengxi panicked and quickly said, “Sister-in-law, I am going to make a move first.” Right after that, he dashed out of the courtyard.
Mu Yu assumed that he was shy because it was his first awakening of love. She did not think much about it and waved her arm while smiling at his fading silhouette. She then turned back into the house and continued having her meal. At the same time, she took out her phone and checked on the latest updates on Yi Yunzhe and Yuchi Industry. After scrolling through some of the news, she instantly lost her appetite. That was because the last few pieces of news were all about Yan Xiaobing.
Yan Xiaobing’s news got out and it described how he vented the anger within him by breaking apart potholes and harming others. The comments were mostly nasty and were all cursing at him. Not only did the public attack him for being an unfilial son due to him committing suicide together with his mother, they also clapped their hands in celebration and announced that Yan Xiaobing brought such consequences upon himself thus he deserved such an outcome. Barely anyone expressed their sympathies for the two lost lives. As for the news describing how he saved all his money and donated it to the needy, no one complimented him for his actions and most of the comments said that he was merely paying retribution for his sins. Thus, there was no need to praise or compliment him.
Mu Yu’s heart got even colder as she scrolled through the comments.
In fact, the news posted on the internet had all been details about Yan Xiaobing’s life. The unfortunate experiences he had five years ago was mentioned and his mental illness was brought up as well. However, the netizens naturally neglected this information as they were reading the news and focused on the crimes he committed that endangered the public. They only focused on reprimanding and criticizing him.
That was when Mu Yu finally realized why Yan Xiaobing refused to listen to her advice and was adamant on ending his life together with his mother.
It turned out that his concerns and worries were accurate after all.
At that moment, she felt extremely gloomy. She had no idea if her emotions were due to the lack of empathy from the general public toward Yan Xiaobing or the fact that she sympathized with the tragic experiences of Yan Xiaobing and his mother.
She thought of calling Jiang Wenwen and venting out her emotions. However, she quickly remembered that Jiang Wenwen would probably be more affected by such news. Eventually, she decided against it and placed her phone down. She leaned back against the couch and zoned out.
Just then, her phone rang and she quickly picked it up as she saw that the caller was her mother.
“Yu, are you okay?”
“I am fine! I am great!” Mu Yu instantly replied to prevent them from worrying too much. After all, her parents found out that she had previously been abducted by Yan Xiaobing.
“Where are you now?”
“I am at Zeyu’s place.”
“Oh, what about Young Master Qin?”
“He went out to run some errands.”
“To the office?”
“I am not sure, I didn’t ask. He might be there.”
“Oh, then where are you all going for dinner?”
“Dinner? I am not sure about that.” She was shocked and at the same time, her mind wandered off. She recalled that there was no news about Yan Xiaobing abducting her and there was no way her mother could know about the incident. Her mother might have figured out from news online that the Qin Family had a thumping success in their battle against the Yi Family, as well as the fact that Qin Jinhuan might return to the Qin Family. Therefore, she must be prodding about it, trying to get more information. Mu Yu did not feel that such things should be taken lightly. “Alright. Daddy and I haven’t seen you for quite a while and we miss you. Once you guys are done settling things and have free time, you could always come back and visit us! Mommy would make you something delicious!”

“Take good care of yourself and Huan.”
“Yes, you guys should take care of each other as well.” Mu Yu could not help but smile as she listened to how natural her mother sounded when calling out ‘Huan’.
She predicted that her parents must be bursting out in laughter considering that they did not forcefully break them up in the past.

“Why are you so happy? Who called?”
She turned her head around and saw that Qin Jinhuan had returned. Thus, she quickly took her seat, pushed the food on the table toward him and said, “My mother called.”
She did not want Qin Jinhuan to realize how materialistic her parents were.
Qin Jinhuan noticed the delivery food was barely eaten so he frowned and asked, “You and Xi didn’t eat?”
“I had some of it but Xi didn’t eat at all. He said that he wasn’t hungry and left after a short conversation.
“What did you guys talk about?” Qin Jinhuan sat down and picked up a hamburger.
“I think he has a crush on a girl but it seems like he doesn’t dare to confess to her.”
“Really?”
“Yes, he is too shy! Do you think we should help him?”
“Don’t be nosy.” Qin Jinhuan grabbed onto a chicken wing and stuffed it into her mouth.
Mu Yu finished eating the chicken before replying, “I bet you think that he is too young and immature, that’s why you’re asking me to forget about it, right? But in reality, you are worried about him.”
“What happens to him has nothing to do with me. By the way, I’m done with the preparation for the funeral services for Yan Xiaobing and his mother.
“So soon?” This immediately captured Mu Yu’s attention. She described all the nasty comments on the internet about Yan Xiaobing to Qin Jinhuan with a heavy heart.
He casually said, “It will dwindle down after some time.”
“Will it really dwindle over time?”

When the murder case of Chengxi Forest was mentioned, Mu Yu felt a jolt in her heart once again.

“Maintaining the safety of the community is everyone’s responsibility. Furthermore, I am the forensic expert of this murder case, no matter what, I—” Another chicken wing was stuffed into her mouth to cut her off and keep her quiet.
“When you are done eating, go and get some rest. We have a dinner party to attend tonight.”
“A dinner party? There’s one so soon?” Mu Yu was shocked.
“Yes, Grandfather plans to organize a small scale banquet at Gloria Hotel tonight.”
“Is it to celebrate Qing Tian Group’s victory? Yuchi Industry has yet to announce their bankruptcy though, isn’t it too early to celebrate?”
“It’s not a celebratory dinner. It is a banquet to express appreciation to all the companies and entities that had been supporting Qing Tian Group all this while.”
Wen Zeyu who had just walked into the house interrupted while smiling. “I am guessing Grandfather would definitely take the opportunity during the banquet to announce that you would be appointed as the Chairman of the Group.”
Mu Yu was surprised. “You agreed to return to the Qin Family?”
“When he promised Xi to forgive Qin Wentao, it meant that he would return to the Qin Family.” Wen Zeyu bit onto his fries and continued, “Sister-in-law, later, Ying will come over and help you put on some makeup. Could you help to host her for me?”
“Is that even necessary?”
“Of course! Tonight is the first time that you are attending a banquet hosted by the Qin Family under the identity as the granddaughter-in-law of the Qin Family.”

Qin Jinhuan held her hand and consoled her. “Don’t worry. It’s still early, you can head upstairs and rest first.”

He then got into his car and as he started the engine, he gave Grandfather a call and provided him with an update of the current situation.
“How are things going?” Grandfather’s voice could be heard over the phone once the call was picked up.
“Everything is fine. The show will be all yours tonight.”
“Very good.”
Qin Xiaozhi hung up the phone and turned toward Dong Wanqing. He then asked, “Have the things been prepared?”
“Yes, everything has been prepared. Doctor Lei had already given it to me.” Dong Wanqing excitedly showed off the tiny paper bag in her hand.
“Be quick on your feet later. You must take advantage of any given opportunity.”
“I understand! Grandfather, I will go dress up and get prepared now. Tonight is the most important moment of my entire life!”
“Go ahead.” Qin Xiaozhi let out a very amiable smile as he looked at her silhouette fading through the door.
