My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 72
Chapter 72 Complacent
“Young Master? Young Master? Are you alright?” The twins rushed to Qin Jinhuan’s side in aid.
Qin Xiaozhi froze at the sight, but looked away as his eyes turned cold, as though he didn’t care. Qin Wentao and Dong Yueyun never expected Qin Jinhuan to react this way. They looked shamefaced at first but were both relieved as soon as they saw their father’s attitude, staring at Qin Jinhuan apathetically and did nothing as if he was an outsider.
Yi Yunzhe jeered, “Hey, why are you so mad? Take it easy.” Compared to the others, his words were at least more sympathetic.
Bang! Just then, the door was opened forcefully, and Wen Zeyu, Huang Bo, Weng Yun and Mu Yu burst into the ward one after another.
“Huan!” Wen Zeyu was the first to rush by Qin Jinhuan’s side. Helping him up at once, he glared at the others and shouted angrily, “What have you all done to him?!”
Mu Yu, who entered the ward last, was terrified when she saw the blood on Qin Jinhuan’s chest. She grabbed his arm and sobbed as she asked.
Qin Jinhuan ignored them and didn’t even care to wipe the blood on the edge of his lips. He glared at Qin Xiaozhi for nearly a minute, his eyes full of rage and hatred. Then, he pushed away those who helped him up and turned to leave the ward with trembling feet.
“Huan!” Wen Zeyu immediately followed after him with Mu Yu, Huang Bo and the others.
As soon as they left, Yi Yunzhe gave Qin Xiaozhi a shrug with his hands. “Oops, I’m so sorry, Old Master Qin. I just wanted to take this opportunity and joke with Young Master Qin, but I didn’t expect him to be this mad. You should hurry and find a doctor to check up on him so that he doesn’t fall sick.”
It sounded like he was apologizing, but his tone was light, and hints of joy glittered through his eyes.
“Thank you Mr. Yi for your concern.” Qin Xiaozhi’s expression didn’t change much as he replied vaguely, “I’m truly sorry to disturb you when you are unwell. Now that the agreement is signed, I shall no longer disturb you from having your rest.”
Upon hearing his words, Qin Wentao instantly reminded him. “Dad, there are still some details in this agreement that have yet to be discussed thoroughly with Mr. Yi.”
Qin Xiaozhi glared at his son with a displeased look as he scolded, “Mr. Yi is a man of great deeds, and his company is full of talents. How could you trouble him with petty issues like this? Besides, Mr. Yi is unwell and needs lots of rest.”
“Hey, Old Master Qin, don’t blame Mr. Qin for being chatty. He is very thoughtful about these things, and I’m the one who neglected it.” Yi Yunzhe hastened to stop Qin Xiaozhi’s lecture and continued to speak with an apologetic look. “Sorry to bother Mr. Qin after this, I will send someone to finalize them with you later to sort out the details.”
“No problem, it’s no bother!” Qin Wentao never thought Yi Yunzhe would speak for himself, and couldn’t hide the gratitude in his eyes. “This is my job after all.”
Yi Yunzhe smiled and turned to Qin Xiaozhi. “Old Master Qin, it is rare for our families to work together, so I hardly come into contact with Mr. Qin. I used to know very little about him, but after these two days of getting in touch, I find Mr. Qin to be a courageous and bold man who plays things safe, and I really admire him for that.”
His remarks flattered both Qin Wentao and his wife. They couldn’t contain the delight in their eyes as they looked at each other.
Qin Xiaozhi’s face, who had been expressionless the whole time, finally showed a hint of relief. It was apparent that Yi Yunzhe’s words pleased him, but he tried to be modest as he waved it off and smiled briefly. “You’re exaggerating, Mr. Yi. You’re a man of foresight and good manners, being talented at such a young age. You’re the one who truly deserves our admiration.”
“Yes, yes, yes.” Qin Wentao and Dong Yueyun agreed immediately.
“Thank you for your compliment, Old Master Qin, though I don’t think I deserve it. I truly enjoy dealing with you, and I hope we’ll have more opportunities to work together in the future.”
Qin Xiaozhi replied with a chuckle. “Too bad I am old, and chances are few that we will deal with each other again.”
Yi Yunzhe promptly turned to Qin Wentao. “Don’t you still have Mr. Qin here? He is a straightforward person, and I love dealing with him too.”
“That is true indeed.” Qin Xiaozhi turned to speak to Qin Wentao. “Settle everything as soon as possible, and hand over the matters to Mr. Yi as early as you can, so that Yuchi Industry can go into full operation on the Phoenix Gully Project.”
“Sure.” Qin Wentao nodded his head, then pointed at the documents in his hand as he spoke to Yi Yunzhe. “Mr. Yi, please allow us to excuse ourselves and do some preparations. May you have a good rest.”
“Okay, I’ll have my company’s vice CEO contact you later.” Yi Yunzhe waved his hand with a smile. “Goodbye, Old Master Qin.”
As soon as they left the ward, Yi Yunzhe turned to Ren Liang, his most trusted bodyguard. “Have you uploaded the photos?”
“Yes, Boss. Please take a look.” Ren Liang bent over and showed him the screen of his phone.
Yi Yunzhe browsed through the photos randomly, then returned the phone with satisfaction and gloated, “My anger is gone at last.”
Ren Liang was still apprehensive though. “Boss, don’t you think there’s something weird about today’s incident?”
“What is it?”
Ren Liang shook his head. “I can’t tell, but it just didn’t feel right.”
“Are you worried that after I have taken so much from Qin Jinhuan today, he would seek revenge on me?” Yi Yunzhe chuckled in disapproval. “You’d be right to be concerned if this happened in the past, but times are different now. Now that Yuchi Industry has taken over the Phoenix Gully Project, it shall skyrocket to success and crush the Qing Tian Group in a blink of an eye. Even if Qin Xiaozhi turns his back on me and returns the position of the Qing Tian Group’s CEO to Qin Jinhuan, he still couldn’t touch me.”
Ren Liang’s eyes flashed at the mention of Qin Xiaozhi’s name, as though he seemed to detect something. “Boss, that Old Qin…”
“You intend to say the Old Qin was acting strange today, am I right?” Seeing Ren Liang nodding his head, Yi Yunzhe smiled in disdain. “You don’t fully grasp the efforts and financial resources that Qing Tian Group had dumped into all the projects on Phoenix Gully, as well as how much the Qing Tian Group would lose if I didn’t sign the agreement today. That’s why you couldn’t understand Old Qin’s feelings.”
Upon mentioning this, he sighed as if regretting something. “Indeed, time and tide wait for no man. I’m sure back in the times when Old Qin was formidable in An City’s business field, he must have never thought of having to kowtow to a junior. But after all, the blame is on him for raising his son wrong and ending up with a selfish fool like Qin Wentao, the *sshole. Now that Yuchi Industry has gotten the Phoenix Gully Project, I have to say it’s all thanks to Qin Wentao.”
Xiao Chenghai, another bodyguard who was standing by his side, interrupted suddenly. “Boss, Qian Xiaozhi is getting old. I’ve heard that there were times where his mind isn’t in the right state. Perhaps this is how Qin Wentao and his wife got the chance to dupe him and seize the power Qin Jinhuan had in the Qin family?”
Yi Yunzhe grinned. “It doesn’t matter to me what trick Qin Wentao and his wife used to deceive Qin Xiaozhi, as long as he takes over the CEO position of Qing Tian Group. Once he’s in that position, as soon as Qin Xiaozhi is gone, it wouldn’t take me long to crush Qing Tian Group into a puddle of mud with the power Yuchi Industry will have in the future.”
His words hit Ren Liang suddenly. “Boss, so you rejected the men Old Qin sent twice previously to discuss taking over the businesses in the Phoenix Gully just to give credit to Qin Wentao? So you taunted Qin Jinhuan before Old Qin a few times while showering Qin Wentao with praise, all to establish Qin Wentao’s prestige in front of Old Qin and his authority within the company so that he becomes the company’s CEO?”
Yi Yunzhe smiled and gave a thumbs up. “You idiot finally figured it out.”
“But back when Qin Jinhuan vomited blood, anyone could tell that Old Qin was just pretending to be indifferent. He indeed had no option but to give in when you threatened not to sign the agreement unless he played along, didn’t he?”
“I don’t care about anything else as long as Qin Jinhuan hates the father and son’s guts. Now that Qin Xiaozhi gave all his late mother’s inheritance to Qin Wentao and Dong Yueyun, I think he’ll never forgive Qin Xiaozhi until death. It’s a delight to see him vomit blood in rage.”
A look of delight flashed across Ren Liang’s face as well, but he soon felt that it was quite a pity. “Gee, if you asked Old Qin to give Qin Jinhuan a few more slaps just now, I would have recorded the video and uploaded it online. That would definitely be much better!”
“We have to leave some room. Don’t be reckless and easily cross someone’s lines. What if Old Qin got his temper back and would rather suffer a huge loss than surrender his businesses in the Phoenix Gully to us? We would be on the losing end then. To be frank, by taking over their businesses, we are the ultimate winners.”
As Yi Yunzhe spoke, his phone rang. Ren Liang quickly grabbed it and said, “It’s the Master,” before handing the phone to him.
Knowing what his dad was going to ask, Yi Yunzhe was more than happy to pick up the call.
On the other hand, Qin Jinhuan, who was feeling dizzy because of anger, left the hospital with sharp pains in his chest. He went to Tai Cemetery behind Cheng Xi forest and sat before his mother’s tomb until the sky turned dark.
Mu Yu, Wen Zeyu and Rong Jian stood nearby. They all had a look of desperation and anxiety on their faces, but dared not to come up and comfort Qin Jinhuan after he yelled at them.
“I’ll curse the Yi family’s ancestors for generations!” Wen Zeyu kicked the pebbles on the ground as he cursed countless times.
He had asked the twins what had happened in the ward and found out what Qin Jinhuan went through.
“B*stard!” Rong Jian, who was usually level-headed, couldn’t help but swear out a curse.
Mu Yu didn’t swear, but was teary-eyed as she stared at Qin Jinhuan’s back, which looked destitute.
“Damn it! I’m going to tear that b*stard into pieces!”
“Zeyu! Don’t be reckless! Don’t cause any more trouble to Huan!” Rong Jian dragged Wen Zeyu back.
“I can’t take it anymore!”
“You have to, even if you can’t! Now that things have gotten this far, there’s no use even if you tear Yi Yunzhe into pieces, not to mention it’s impossible with your abilities.”
Wen Zeyu was exasperated. “Can’t you say something else to calm me besides those B*stards Yi and Qin Wentao?”
“I am just stating a fact.”
“I hate your facts!”
Rong Jian threw his hands up and was ready to speak, when Qin Jinhuan suddenly turned around and said, “Rong Jian, come here.”
“Huan!” A look of joy flashed across Wen Zeyu and Mu Yu’s faces as they were ready to run toward him, but Qin Jinhuan’s tone turned harsh at once, “Rong Jian! Come here!”
“I’m coming!” Rong Jian quickly dragged them back and slightly shook his head before running toward Qin Jinhuan.
Not daring to get any closer again, Mu Yu and Wen Zeyu had no choice but to stay back while looking at them anxiously.
As the sky turned dark and the wind blew, the rustling wind echoed with the squeaks of creatures in the forest, adding a gloomy hint to Tai Cemetery. However, Mu Yu, who was worrying wholeheartedly about Qin Jinhuan, didn’t seem to realize this. She tried her best to focus her big eyes to see the two blurred figures which were not far away from her.
“Huan! Huan! Are you alright?”
Alarmed by Rong Jian’s panic-stricken cries, Mu Yu rushed instinctively to see Qin Jinhuan lying listlessly on the ground before the tomb, blood visible on the edge of his lips. A loud bang echoed in her head, and the world started to spin.
