My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 64
Chapter 64 Care For Him For The Rest Of Her Life
“Mu Yu? Mu Yu? Are you there?” Wen Zeyu’s hasty shouts instantly brought Mu Yu back to her senses. She hopped off the bed, flustered, and briskly put on her shoes while asking edgily where Qin Jinhuan was.
“Yu, where are you going?”
“What happened?”
Mu Ziyao and his wife rushed to catch up with her when they heard the commotion.
“I have some errands to do,” she answered ambiguously as she rushed out the door. She immediately took the stairs because the elevator stayed on the top floor, and swiftly arrived at the staircase before rushing toward the entrance. She called a cab, and hurried toward An River, the location provided by Wen Zeyu.
Just as she got into the car, she received a call from her father. She did not want to worry her parents, so she made up an excuse, saying that she needed to return to her workplace due to a work emergency. After she hung up, she clutched her phone and urged the driver to speed up. Desperate, she prayed for Qin Jinhuan to be safe, and wished she could just grow a pair of wings to fly to him right away.
When she finally arrived at An River Banks, she grabbed a heap of cash from her bag and threw it to the cab driver without checking the meter. She then made a dash to the river dyke, while calling out for Qin Jinhuan.
“Over here! Mu Yu!”
Following the direction of Wen Zeyu’s voice, she saw Qin Jinhuan sitting at the southern edge of the riverbanks while holding his own head. She immediately rushed over. However, due to the slippers that she was wearing, she slipped and started to tumble forward as she lost her balance.
“Be careful Mu Yu (Young mistress)!”
“Aaaahh!!”
“Are you okay, Young Mistress?”
She felt someone grasping her, and anxiously opened her eyes to see Bian Zijun in front of her.
It turned out that Bian Zijun and the others had been standing by the shore not far from Qin Jinhuan, just in case anything happened.
Bian Zijun was pushed to the side in the next instant, and Mu Yu fell in someone else’s arm. Qin Jinhuan’s impatient voice rang beside her at once. “Why did you come?”
“Huan!” Mu Yu was pleasantly surprised as she hugged him. “Are you alright?”
“Go back! Everyone, just leave!” Qin Jinhuan bellowed as he pushed her back up to the riverbanks.
“Huan…”
“Boss…”
“Leave!” Qin Jinhuan said firmly, and walked toward the riverside.
Startled, Mu Yu immediately rushed forward and hugged him, sobbing loudly as she pleaded, “Please don’t jump! I beg you!”
“Huan (Boss), please calm down! Don’t do anything on a whim!” Wen Zeyu, Bian Zijun, and the others were so alarmed that their faces went pale; they quickly rushed forward to grab onto him.
“You think that I was gonna jump into the river and kill myself?” Qin Jinhuan snickered. “I don’t have the time for that.”
“But it seemed so.” Mu Yu sobbed.
“It’s not my time to die yet. I just want to be by myself, so you guys should just leave.” Qin Jinhuan said as he sat down by the riverside.
“Huan…”
“You guys can leave. I’ll stay here with him.” Mu Yu interrupted Wen Zeyu, as she could sense that Qin Jinhuan’s emotions were quite stable at the moment.
“But…”
“It’s okay.” She mouthed, “Just leave him be. I’ll call you if something happens.”
“Well, alright then.”
After sending Wen Zeyu, Bian Zijun, and the others off, Mu Yu crouched down in front of Qi Jinhuan, and apologized sadly.
“You should leave too, and let me have some solitude,” Qin Jinhuan said in a calm voice.
“I want to be here with you.”
“This has nothing to do with you, so you don’t have to do this.”
“How does this have nothing to do with me? If I had not blindly trusted Yi Yunzhe, then the video issue wouldn’t have arisen. You wouldn’t have to leave your work behind, and things wouldn’t have turned out this way. I’m the reason behind all this!” Mu Yu cried again, feeling all the guilt and frustration build up inside her.
Qin Jinhuan glanced at her and replied calmly, “They will still cook up some other plans to sabotage my contract signing, even if you did not fall into their trap.”
“But now, you’re dragged down because of me, so everything is my fault. I must take accountability on the foolish things that I have done!”
“How do you plan on doing that?”
Mu Yu suddenly fell silent.
It was true that her ability was too miniscule, so it was hard for her to keep her words.
“Just go back. Tomorrow is Sunday, so we will go to the Civil Affairs department on Monday and get our divorce papers filed.”
Mu Yu was stunned for a moment and asked meekly, “Will you marry Dong Wanqing after you divorce me?”
He understood what she was implying, and replied with a cold sneer, “I already said that unless my mother resurrects, I will never acknowledge him as my father, and marry anyone from the Dong family.”
“Then if you’re not going to marry Dong Wanqing, I won’t leave you as well!”
Staying by his side through hardships, and taking care of him for the rest of his life was another way of her taking responsibility for him. This was the thought that was on her mind.
“These two issues don’t have anything to do with each other.”
“They do! If you want to divorce me so you can marry Dong Wanqing and get back into Qin’s household, then go ahead. But since you have no intention of marrying her, then I don’t have any reason to leave my position as your wife.”
Her replies astonished him, and he stared at her for a few seconds before asking, “You came up with a thousand of reasons to leave me when I had everything. Now that I have nothing, you’re suddenly refusing to divorce me? Are you pitying me right now?”
“I’m not, but I’m trying to be responsible for you!”
“Oh?” He was amused when he finally understood what she was implying. “So you want to compensate me by taking care of me for the rest of your life?”
“If you’re fine with it, then I will gladly do it!” Her voice became softer as she said this, “I won’t be able to let you live in luxury, but you will have a better life than the present.”
“So you’re thinking of tying me to your apron strings for the rest of my life?”
“No. What I mean is that I will try to help you as a wife.” Mu Yu became anxious as she saw him smiling into the distance and exclaimed, “I’m serious!”
“Let’s get your wounds tended to.”
His reminder made her realize that she had a cut on her ankle, and it was bleeding. She finally started to feel the pain, and unconsciously let out a hiss. However, she merely took off her slippers and ignored the cut, before turning to advise Qin Jinhuan, “You’re still young, and capable. You’ll be able to make a comeback if given the proper chances.”
“Chances?” Qin Jinhuan let out a bitter smile.
Mu Yu hastily tried to change the flow of the conversation after realizing she had said something wrong. “You managed to take care of a huge company, while having to stay wary of all the constant deception and back stabbings. Imagine how tiring it has been for you? My life as a forensic doctor is even more relaxing than yours. No wonder in ancient times, the scholars always chose to live in solitude to avoid the cruel reality out there. As the poem goes, ‘I pick eastern asters at will; carefree I see the southern hill’[1]. Don’t you think living like this is wonderful?”
“So you’re saying that you’re okay with living in a cold barren house regardless of the weather, while being in stark poverty[2]?”
“Wow, I did not expect you to know Mr. Wuliu[3] that well.” Seeing him willing to talk about this made Mu Yu relieved. She continued to advise him, “But I am much more diligent than him, and I would never stoop to just having ‘flourishing weeds but only a few bean sprouts’[4]. I will definitely let you have a good life. Money and possessions are just material belongings; though we can’t live without them, it will only be a burden if we have too much. It’s fine as long as we have enough to fill our stomachs. Don’t you think so?”
Seeing Qin Jinhuan ignoring her by staring at the water in the distance, she got quite upset, and unconsciously let out a sigh.
She knew he wasn’t upset about letting go of the position of Qing Tian Group’s CEO, but more about the fact that his mother’s possessions would be soiled by Qin Wentao and his wife. However, she really did not know how to soothe him, and the only thing she could do was to hope that Grandpa would quickly forgive him, and just bring him back home.
When she saw sweat on his forehead, she knew that he was stressed because of this, although he appeared calm on the surface. Her heart was aching for him, she took tissues out of her bag, but wasn’t bold enough to help wipe away his sweat. She was still not used to being intimate with him. Eagerly wishing for the sun to set, she admonished her acts of foolishness and uselessness.
The two of them silently sat beside each other, until Mu Yu’s ringtone broke the silence.
She was expecting the call to be from Wen Zeyu or Rong Jian, but was surprised to find out that it was from Jiang Wenwen. She immediately answered.
“Yu, is it true that Young Master Qin was sacked from his position as the Qing Tian Group’s C.E.O? Did he really get chased out of the Qin household?”
“Huh? How did you know?!” Mu Yu was extremely astonished.
“The news is all over the internet! Tell me Mu Yu, is this real? I can’t believe it!”
Mu Yu glanced at Qin Jinhuan, who was calmly sitting at the side, and subtly confirmed it.
“Oh my goodness! Why? What exactly happened?”
“It’s a long story. I still have some business to deal with over here, so I will talk to you next time.” Mu Yu immediately hung up before Jiang Wenwen could say anything more, and quickly opened her phone browser to search for the news. When she saw that the reported news was exactly as Jiang Wenwen had described, her initial hopes were crushed, and made her angry yet anxious at the same time.
Since Grandpa had announced the expulsion of Qin Jinhuan from the Qin family, this meant that he had already made up his mind on not accepting him as his grandson anymore. The Qin family had few children to begin with, so following the current flow of events, Qin Wentao’s role would definitely be relevant again. And as soon as he got into power, he would definitely use every opportunity to suppress Qin Jinhuan, and cut off all possibilities of Qin Jinhuan returning to Qin Tian Group. It seemed that Qin Jinhuan would have a hard time setting his base in An City.
The comments under the news were mostly people taking advantage of the situation and dragging Qin Jinhuan down. Mu Yu understood how powerful Qin Xiaozhi was, so she handed her phone to Qin Jinhuan and advised him, “You should go to Grandpa and admit your mistakes. You are still his grandson no matter what, and since all of this happened for a reason, you shouldn’t be the one to bear responsibility.”
Qin Jinhuan looked like he was already expecting this situation, and didn’t take a good look at it. He smirked while glancing on the phone screen.
Mu Yu was extremely jittery, and told him about her concerns as she continued, “Qin Wentao will never let you off the hook if he gets the power.”
“Let him.”
“You shouldn’t have acted in anger, instead…”
Her phone rang and she immediately answered, seeing that it was a call from her mother.
“Get back home immediately, Yu! I have something important to tell you!”
“I’ll get back home later mom, I still have something to…”
“If you are still not home after half an hour, I am going to chop you up Mu!”
“Mom? Mom?” Mu Yu was anxious yet helpless when the call was cut off. She wanted to explain to Qin Jinhuan but saw him standing up and going up the dyke. She quickly put on her slippers and followed him.
