Once she realized that something was wrong with Qin Jinhuan’s tone of voice, Mu Yu immediately stopped and turned to look at him.

“I’ll go to you right away,” Qin Jinhuan said as he walked outside.

“Hey! Huan!” Mu Yu hurriedly grabbed him. “What happened?”

“Nothing. Zeyu called me.”

“Why did he call you at such a late hour?”

“He wants to work at Hui Ming Group.”

“What?! He wants to quit his job at Qing Tian Group?”

Qin Jinhuan nodded with a grave expression. “I’ll go talk to him. You should rest early.”

Upon hearing his words, Mu Yu merely nodded without saying anything else. Then, she watched him leave with a look of worry on her face before turning around and slowly walking back into the house.

Qin Xiaozhi preferred quietness and had always been early to bed and early to rise. The house was usually quiet at night because of this, and Mu Yu was not surprised by the dead silence right now. She crept upstairs and was about to enter her room when Qin Chengxi walked out of her room. As she tiptoed and ran toward Mu Yu with her back arched, she lowered her voice and asked, “How is the case coming along, Yu? That victim…”

Mu Yu quickly turned her head and glanced at Qin Xiaozhi’s room. Seeing that the room was still lit, she immediately gestured for Qin Chengxi to keep silent. Then, she took the latter’s hand and entered her room. She finally answered after closing the door, “The victim used to be a worker at the quarry under Qing Tian Group.”

“I heard that he also died a brutal death!” Qin Chengxi looked horrified. “Is the murderer the same person who committed the previous three homicides?”

Mu Yu gave a soft sigh. “We’re still uncertain of that for the time being, but it seems pretty likely.”

“Did Huan leave right after sending you home because someone at the company took the opportunity to stir up trouble again?” Qin Chengxi asked.
