My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 302
Chapter 302 A Vulgar Woman
“Jiao? She’s not worked up anymore?” Rong Jian asked.
“She’s better than before, but still emotional. She said that she had to see you no matter what. Should I take her back to the bureau first?”
“All right.” Upon agreeing to it, Rong Jian immediately hung up and told Gu Jihui about the bureau’s newest development.
“What kind of lead might she provide?” Gu Jihui immediately asked.
“I don’t know either. We’ll know once she’s here.” Rong Jian took a look at his watch before lifting his head and pretending to look at Feng Rubing unintentionally as he asked Gu Jihui for permission. “Director Gu, we’d like to have dinner before Wu Xing brings Jiao over.”
“Go on, hurry along,” Gu Jihui urged. “Once you’ve returned and questioned Jiao, please report to me.”
Rong Jian nodded and looked at Qin Jinhuan. “Huan, I won’t bog you two down with dinner in the cafeteria tonight. You two should go home.”
However, Mu Yu refused. “Madam Feng hasn’t left yet, so why should I? Besides, I still want to listen to what Jiao has to say.”
When she saw that Rong Jian still remained quiet, she knew that he was thinking of Qin Jinhuan, so she immediately tugged on the other man’s sleeve. “Why don’t you go back before me?”
“I’ll go along with you.” Qin Jinhuan sat back down after he had gotten up. He then gave Bian Zijun an order. “Please get Qi Han to bring some food over.”
“There’s no need to trouble him. Our cafeteria food is not bad at all.” She pulled him up. “I’ll take you down to try it out.”
“I don’t want to go.”
“I’ll get the cafeteria staff to make some food specially for you two.”
“There’s no need for that, Director Gu.” Mu Yu quickly stopped Gu Jihui from dialing the cafeteria’s number while she secretly strangled Qin Jinhuan. She shot a harsh look at him, and it was only then did he lazily get back up.
On the other hand, Rong Jian ignored Qin Jinhuan throughout this exchange. He walked over to Feng Rubing and softly asked her to sit down while he brought dinner up for her. Then, he quickly turned around and left the lab with Liu Xiaofan and the others.
By the time Mu Yu, Qin Jinhuan, Bian Zijun and the rest went down to the cafeteria, Rong Jian and the group had almost finished their food. She hadn’t expected them to eat so fast, so she promptly started wolfing down her food after she brought her food container over to the table, afraid that she would end up missing the interrogation with Jiao.
Qin Jinhuan tried to talk her into eating slower, but when he saw that she wouldn’t listen, he stopped trying. However, he didn’t rush through his meal. Instead, he ate like he normally did, slowly picking up his food with his chopsticks and carefully chewing each mouthful. He had only just eaten a few bites, but Mu Yu had already polished off half her rice. She hadn’t really tasted her food throughout her meal. She wiped her mouth and said to him, “Take your time. I’ll be heading over first.” Without waiting for his answer, she ran off immediately.
Fortunately, she had been quick enough; she saw Wu Xing bringing a woman into the interrogation room just as she reached the door of the room next to it.
Feng Rubing was already there. When she saw Mu Yu come in, she nodded her head slightly in greeting.
Meanwhile, Mu Yu walked over to her side with soft steps and pointed at the woman inside the interrogation room. “Is that Jiao?”
“Yes.”
“I see.” She then carefully surveyed the woman. She was dressed in a rather trendy outfit, but judging from the quality and craftsmanship, the clothes were on the cheaper side. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and her face was slightly pale. Her hair was also disheveled, and she looked rather emotional. The moment she saw Rong Jian, she rushed over and raised her voice while trying to explain, “I really didn’t kill Qian Dacheng, sir! You have to believe me!” Her Mandarin was a little off since it had a countryside accent to it, but Mu Yu could still make out what she said, even if it was just barely.
Rong Jian was clearly taken aback by her words. “Who said that you killed Qian Dacheng?”
“Not me! I didn’t say anything,” Wu Xing hastily explained when Rong Jian shot a look his way.
“You kept asking me question after question this afternoon, and you also sent two policemen to watch me. That definitely shows that you think I’m a suspect,” Jiao said nervously as she insisted on her innocence, her voice raising even further. “I really didn’t kill him! I was really angry then, and I did yell at him, but I never thought of killing him!”
At that, she choked up. “I really wanted to spend the rest of my life with him! I always thought that he was being sincere with me, so when I found out that he tricked me with a fake diamond ring, I was so angry. I thought he was being insincere for sure since he gave me a fake diamond ring, so that’s why I was so harsh with him yesterday. You have to believe me when I say that I really didn’t kill him!”
“Calm down. Take a seat and go over everything slowly.” Rong Jian handed her a packet of tissues when he saw her sobs morph into bawling. As he did so, he gestured for her to sit down.
“I really didn’t kill him. I’m telling the truth.” Jiao sat down while sobbing.
“If you aren’t the one behind the deed, then you can relax. We won’t falsely accuse people who aren’t involved,” Liu Xiaofan said as he handed her a glass of water.
“I really didn’t do it! I swear!” Jiao couldn’t find it in herself to take the water offered to her as she quickly raised her hands above her head while she swore of her innocence. “If I’m actually the one who killed Qian Dacheng, then I’ll let the heavens rain judgment on me and die! I—”
“Don’t swear on anything. Just cooperate with us and answer our questions, and you’ll be fine. Here, have some water first and gather yourself before telling us about your meeting with Qian Dacheng last night in detail.”
When Rong Jian, Qin Jinhuan, and the others went to see Jiao at the hospital earlier that afternoon, she had been horribly emotional. Her words were incoherent as she was deathly afraid they would suspect that she was the killer. Although Rong Jian and the others sort of understood the general situation right now, they still didn’t know the exact details. Indeed, there were still many questions that they hadn’t gotten detailed answers to.
“Oh,” said Jiao before she took a sip of water. The paper cup in her hands was squeezed slightly out of shape, and it was probably due to her excessive nervousness.
She sat there quietly for a long while composing herself before she slowly spoke up. “Yesterday, I got a phone call from Dacheng while I was still at work some time around 4.00PM. He said that he was about to reach Xinyue Estates and wanted me to come over. I immediately told my boss about it. I didn’t care that it was raining, and I rushed over to Dacheng’s apartment at Xinyue Estates as fast as I could. I had only just entered the apartment when he pressed me down onto the bed, took off my clothes and began to f*ck me. I really wanted to give him a child, so I didn’t say anything and just let him do it…”
“What is with your wording?” Jiao’s mention of the word ‘f*ck’ made Rong Jian feel awkward since he knew that Mu Yu and Feng Rubing were listening in the room next door. Hence, he immediately interrupted her gravely.
Jiao started in shock and asked fearfully, “Was I not being clear about something?”
“What Chief Rong meant to say is that you should not be so vulgar when giving your account,” Liu Xiaofan said none too kindly.
“Vulgar?” Jiao froze for a moment before it clicked, and she instantly felt embarrassed. “You said to go into detail about my meeting with Qian Dacheng. I thought that meant including those bits too.”
“You can skip those.”
“Oh, okay. Um, we f*cked… Uh, we boned… Uh…” Jiao stuttered as she wasn’t fluent enough in standard Mandarin to express herself.
“Let’s skip that part and go right to what happened after that.”
There was obvious fear in Jiao’s expression. “I-I don’t know where to begin.”
Rong Jian was rendered somewhat speechless, whereas Liu Xiaofan impatiently told her where to begin. “Start with the events after you two finished doing that.”
“Oh, okay.” Jiao took in a deep breath before she continued to speak. “We originally wanted to go out for dinner, but the rain hadn’t stopped, so Qian Dacheng ordered takeout instead. He ordered rice with steak and veggies while I got some mushroom and veggie noodles. After we ate, I put away the takeout containers and showered. After I finished showering, Dacheng went to shower too. After he finished, we began to f*ck…”
She had only just said the word ‘f*ck’ when she realized that she shouldn’t have said that. Jiao quickly covered her mouth and looked at Rong Jian with an embarrassed smile. Seeing how he didn’t comment on it, she sucked on her teeth and immediately changed her word choice. “He and I did it until it was past 8.00PM. Qian Dacheng wasn’t full from dinner earlier, and since he saw that the rain wasn’t as heavy as before, he brought me to a grill near the entrance of the residential area. He even had two bottles of beer. By the time we went back to the apartment, it was already 10.10PM…”
“Why do you remember the exact time?” Rong Jian interrupted.
“That’s because I texted Lili when I got back to the apartment.” Since she was afraid that he wouldn’t believe her, Jiao promptly pulled out her phone and quickly unlocked it to show him her WeChat messages. As she did so, she explained, “After you asked me all those questions this afternoon, I carefully went over my memories of last night. I could remember the general time, but I had to think harder to remember where we went, and…”
Liu Xiaofan cut in. “You went back to the apartment at 10.10PM. What happened after that?”
“After we got back to the apartment, he f*cked me two more times, and we kept f*cking until midnight.” This time, she explained everything of her own accord without them prompting her. “When Qian Dacheng went for another shower, I got a text message. I checked it, and the time shown on that message was 12.05AM.”
“Who sent you that message?” Rong Jian asked.
“A customer.”
Rong Jian understood what she meant by that, so he didn’t question her any further about that. Instead, he asked, “Well, what happened after that?”
“I then found out that the diamond ring Qian Dacheng gave me was fake!” Jiao’s expression turned emotional again. “Every time I came looking for him, I never once asked for payment even though he toyed with me so many times. I always went along with what he wanted; I truly believed that he liked me since he gave me a diamond ring and that he wanted me to give him a kid or two. I thought that he would really give me that apartment. I did want to stay with him and raise our kids, but who would have thought that he would trick me with a fake ring?! He tricked me with a fake diamond ring, which clearly showed that he wouldn’t have given me the apartment even if I did give birth to a kid for him! I was so serious about him, but he was so insincere and fake about his feelings when it came to me! He was clearly shamelessly tricking me into f*cking with him! I was so angry then. I knew that he wouldn’t give me the apartment and that I couldn’t hope for him to, so I yelled at him to give me the money…”
“What money?” Rong Jian asked despite his awkwardness.
“The money that he owed me for tricking me into sleeping with him, of course! Since he had been lying to me the entire time, why should I not get payment for sleeping with him? He was booking me the entire night each time! Multiple times, too! I said that I would give him a 20% discount because of our relationship when I thought that we were going to get married and asked him to give me the reduced sum instead. Do you know just how shameless he was? He actually wanted me to pay him instead, saying that he was the one who was always sweaty and tired while I was the one who enjoyed everything!”
Jiao got more and more worked up as she went on. “I was such an idiot! I’ve seen my share of jerks, but I’ve never seen such a huge jerk like him! I must have been blind to meet someone like him and let him toy with me for so long for nothing! I won’t be able to hold my anger back, not unless I question all his ancestors as to how they have such a great-great-great-grandson!”
Everyone, both inside and outside the interrogation room, were beside themselves with awkwardness as they listened to her tirade about her sexual favors, especially Feng Rubing, who was sitting with Mu Yu and Qin Jinhuan. Although she couldn’t continue listening to Jiao, she was worried that she would miss out on some important information. Since she wasn’t willing to leave, the only thing she could do was to lower her head and play with her phone.
Meanwhile, Rong Jian dipped his head and wiped away the sweat on his forehead. Liu Xiaofan, Yan Zihao, and Fan Lifeng exchanged looks as they held in their laughter.
Jiao had been so caught up in her rant that she only realized her faux pas when suddenly noticed that everyone had an odd expression on their faces. All of a sudden, she stood up and tossed her paper cup away before anxiously waving her hands around. “Please don’t misunderstand! I really was very angry then, but I really didn’t kill him! Killers have to pay with their lives. I certainly won’t throw away my life just because of a shameless old jerk!”
“What time did you leave?”
“1.00AM! I know because my phone showed that it was 1.00AM when I posted a Moment on WeChat Moments after leaving the place. When I went downstairs, I saw that the rain had gotten heavier. I didn’t bring an umbrella with me, so I waited in the corridor. I waited for about half an hour for the rain to ease up before leaving. I reached the salon around 2.00AM, and I went to sleep after I changed out of my clothes. I slept until I was woken by Qian Xiaoyu’s phone call the next morning. She asked me why Qian Dacheng hadn’t shown up at the quarry. I was too lazy to talk to her, so I hung up. She kept calling me, and I felt that something was off since she was doing it several times. It was then that I ran over to Xinyue Estates, and then I found Qian Dacheng dead inside the apartment.”
She suddenly shuddered, seeming as though she had just returned to the crime scene. She immediately changed the topic. “I’ve said everything that I should say, but I swear I didn’t kill Qian Dacheng, sir. You have to believe me.”
Rong Jian didn’t answer her. Instead, he asked, “Did you notice anything strange outside after you left Qian Dacheng’s apartment?”
“Strange?” Jiao lowered her head and thought about it. All of a sudden, a glint shone in her eyes. “Yes!”
