My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 266
Chapter 266 Breeding Hatred
“Why are you so sure of that?” Astonishment was all over Qin Jinhuan’s face.
A cold look crept up Mu Yu’s pale face. “She’s not that smart.”
Qin Jinhuan froze for a few seconds before he spoke. “It’s true that Dong Wanqing isn’t the brightest bulb out there, but don’t forget that she has Dong Yueyun behind her.”
“Do you think that Dong Yueyun’s the one who orchestrated all of it?”
“The police have already been called, and they’ll handle this matter. Let’s not talk about this anymore. Here, have some food.” Qin Jinhuan had poured the spoonful of cold soup back into the bowl as he spoke. He scooped up a fresh spoonful and gently blew on it to cool it down before bringing it in front of Mu Yu.
However, Mu Yu still didn’t open her mouth; she continued to regard him with a chilly look.
“What’s wrong?”
His voice was gentle and patient; he even had a look of concern, but it wasn’t able to move Mu Yu’s heart. On the contrary, her heart chilled even more. She scoffed lightly and gave an equally frosty chuckle before she questioned him with a light tone, “Why did you choose to call the police nearly ten hours after my accident?”
A glint streaked through Qin Jinhuan’s eyes promptly, and he stirred the soup while averting his gaze. “I wasn’t planning to call the police. After some thinking, I decided to do so.”
“Is that so?” Her distrust showed on her face.
“I have no need to lie to you.”
“Hah.” She let out a cold chuckle again, seeming as though she’d just heard a joke. Then, she exposed him reluctantly. “You didn’t allow anyone to call the police earlier because you couldn’t determine who was the culprit. You wanted to leave a chance for the one you’re protecting to redeem herself. Now that you already have your answer, you called the police so that they can prove to me that this case really has nothing to do with Yin Anran. You didn’t defend Yin Anran, right?” Qin Jinhuan put down the bowl, his expression heavy as he looked at her and solemnly explained, “I didn’t report it earlier because I wanted to investigate and resolve the matter my own way. I must make the woman who would dare harm my wife and child in such an emboldened way to beg for death. I changed my mind later not because of anyone else, but you. After all, you are also part of the law enforcement. Even if that evil person was the one who caused you to end up in such an awful state, you certainly wouldn’t allow me to punish her through illegal means. You’d definitely have advised me to call the police and let the law deal with her, isn’t that right?”
Since Mu Yu didn’t answer him, he continued, “No matter who did it, I will not show an ounce of mercy toward her—that’s because she hurt my beloved wife and child!”
“You seemed to be serious about this.”
“You still doubt me?”
“I want some quiet for myself. Please get out.”
“Yu…”
“I don’t want to argue with you. Leave.”
Qin Jinhuan was a little irritated upon being shooed out twice. “Mu Yu, can you not go in with preconceptions or constantly nit-pick at things? Can’t you think things over from an objective angle?”
“You’re still accusing me of having preconceptions? Aren’t you the one with preconceptions instead?” Mu Yu lost her temper, and her pitch became higher. “When you heard that someone deliberately crashed into me, wasn’t your first suspect Dong Wanqing? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have immediately gotten Bian Zijun to look into Dong Wanqing’s whereabouts that morning! As for Yin Anran, you were also a little suspicious of her. You suspected her just a little bit, and that’s precisely why you didn’t call the police. You only called them once you eliminated that tiny bit of suspicion. Saying that I’m an enforcer of the law and that you thought that I wouldn’t have allowed you to do something against the law is just an excuse for you to play pretend! To you, Yin Anran is always the perfect, kind princess, whereas Dong Wanqing is always the loathable, evil queen!”
Due to being overly agitated, she was left gasping heavily once she had said her piece. Her chest heaved violently as she gripped her blanket tightly with one hand while she grabbed her chest with the other. Her pale face was completely devoid of color now, and even her lips had turned white.
Qin Jinhuan was startled by her state. He did not dare to continue arguing with her—he didn’t even dare to try and advise her. As he thought about this, he helped her to lay down, but she didn’t allow him to get close to her. He had just reached a hand over when she shook him off violently. As she did so, Mu Yu glared at him with her teary eyes that were filled with hatred.
After letting out a small breath, she gritted her teeth and continued to chew him out. “You keep saying I’m your most beloved one; you say that you’ll love me and protect me for the rest of your life, but the love you give me always seems like a pale, toothless knockoff whenever Yin Anran is in the picture. Tell me—what’s the reason for that?”
“Stop imagining things! My feelings for you have nothing to do with Yin Anran at all!”
“You’re still denying it? My baby is gone because of the car crash. If it wasn’t for the grassy patch behind me, I would have at least broken my limbs even if I hadn’t died on the spot! Yet, here you are—you’re defending her when that could have happened! You—”
“I’m not defending her!”
“Then why do you not believe anything Dong Wanqing has said while believing the very first words out of Yin Anran’s mouth? Along with everything else that came out of it? Is that not considered defending? How else are you going to defend her?! Are you not going to acknowledge that you’re defending her until you’ve helped Yin Anran to slap me in the face? Me, your actual wife?” Mu Yu had lost control of her emotions, and she had already fallen into hysterics.
Since Mu Yu didn’t believe him at all, Qin Jinhuan became irritated. Unconsciously, his tone became heavier. “Can you stop being unreasonable, Mu Yu?”
“I enjoy being unreasonable! If you don’t like it, you can leave! Go away! The further, the better!”
“Mu Yu!”
“Get out!” She was so enraged that her entire body trembled; her hands curled up into fists as she hit the bed.
“Mu Yu!” Qin Jinhuan stepped forward to hug her, his heart breaking into thousands of pieces as he called for her to calm down. “Please don’t be mad. If you keep being like this—ow…”
He suddenly sucked in a breath, for Mu Yu had chomped on his shoulder. He had taken his jacket off earlier when he arrived at the hospital due to his panic and franticness, so he only had a thin sweater on. Meanwhile, Mu Yu practically attacked him with all the strength that she had left.
“Huan, Yu, what’s going on?”
Rong Ying came dashing in once she heard the disturbance. When she saw that Mu Yu had bitten Qin Jinhuan, she was shocked—she frantically separated them.
Mu Yu eyed Qin Jinhuan hatefully, and a single sentence escaped through her clenched teeth. “I want a divorce!”
“Don’t say such things, Yu. Don’t let your thoughts run away from you. Get some rest first.” After Rong Ying had pushed Qin Jinhuan away, she quickly hugged Mu Yu’s trembling body. As she consoled Mu Yu, she shot a look at Qin Jinhuan to signal that he should leave the ward for now.
Qin Jinhuan’s didn’t look very well now, and the expression on his face was a complicated one; it seemed like he was furious and helpless at the same time. He opened his mouth, but nothing escaped it.
Mu Yu, who was still wrapped in a tight hug from Rong Ying, suddenly gripped the other woman’s arms tightly and burst into loud, howling sobs. Her grief-stricken look made Rong Ying tear up as well, and her crying also broke Qin Jinhuan’s heart. However, he didn’t dare to take so much as another step forward right now, nor did he dare to let out a sound; he was afraid that he would once again rile Mu Yu up. He was also afraid that she would threaten him with divorce again. Filled with heartbreak and worry, he quickly left the ward with heavy steps.
“Okay, Yu—don’t cry. You’re currently really frail, and it’s not good for you to be sad. You have to rest properly!”
Rong Ying kept advising Mu Yu, but the currently upset and sobbing Mu Yu couldn’t absorb any of her words. She continued to cry with all her might. Since Rong Ying couldn’t reason with her, she stopped trying. She simply patted Mu Yu’s back gently and allowed the other woman to cry her heart out.
After a long, unknown period of time, Mu Yu finally tired herself from her crying and finally pushed Rong Ying away. Rong Ying’s heart ached awfully when she saw Mu Yu’s red and puffy eyes, as well as the tears that streaked her face. She quickly brought some tissue paper over and helped Mu Yu to wipe her face, consoling her as she did so. “Yu, your health is yours. Regardless of what has happened, you have to love yourself.”
She wasn’t sure about the details of the clash between Mu Yu and Qin Jinhuan, so all she could do was give some general advice.
Mu Yu still had an upset look on her face, but she remained silent. She just took a sheet of tissue paper and covered her face with it while she lowered her head to continue sobbing.
“Okay, don’t cry anymore. If you cry yourself sick, you’ll be the one suffering. Also, if your parents see you like this…”
“Don’t tell my parents! I don’t want to worry them,” Mu Yu frantically urged Rong Ying hoarsely.
“Now that the police have been called, I’m sure that news about this incident will soon spread. Your parents and Huan’s grandfather will be sure to find out about this quickly.” Rong Ying felt worried. “His health isn’t good, and he loves you a lot. He’ll definitely be really worried once he finds out that you’ve been in a car accident. If he sees you like this, he’ll become even more frantic with worry. So, you have to—”
“The thing that will make Grandpa sad is the fact that my baby is gone.” Mu Yu once again covered her face and wept.
Rong Yin was startled. “Y-You knew you were pregnant?”
Since Mu Yu had never brought up her pregnancy, together with the fact that her pregnancy was still in its early stages, Rong Ying assumed that Mu Yu didn’t know that she was already pregnant. She was also worried that the severely-injured Mu Yu wouldn’t be able to take the news of her miscarriage, so Rong Ying had intended to wait for Mu Yu to recover a bit before telling her about the baby. She had purposely told the medical staff, Qin Jinhuan, and Rong Jian not to mention the baby because of this, so Rong Ying was taken aback when Mu Yu suddenly brought it up.
Mu Yu laughed sadly. “When I found out I was pregnant, the baby was already gone.”
“Did Huan tell you about it? Were you blaming him earlier because of this?”
“He wasn’t the one who told me. The nurses were whispering amongst themselves when they thought I was unconscious, and I overheard them.” Mu Yu clutched at her abdomen and wept. “He was still so young. I didn’t realize he existed at all; by the time I knew, he’d already silently left me.”
Now that she had experienced it herself, Mu Yu finally understood why Yin Xiaotian was in so much pain back then.
Rong Ying let out a choked sob as she comforted Mu Yu. “This only shows that your fates aren’t tightly intertwined. Please don’t be too saddened by that. Rest well and wait patiently for the arrival of a child who’s truly fated to be with you.”
“Is there still such a possibility?” Mu Yu’s laughter turned even more miserable. “Don’t lie to me too. I heard the nurses clearly; I may never have the ability to be a mother anymore.”
If it hadn’t been for that reason, she probably wouldn’t have hated Qin Jinhuan as much for defending Yin Anran. At the very least, she wouldn’t have been so spiteful with him.
“Don’t listen to the nurses’ nonsense! Nurses aren’t doctors. They don’t know anything! I’m the doctor here; you should be listening to me instead. I—”
“Ying, I know you’re concerned for me. I know that you’re saying this out of kindness too, but…” Mu Yu interrupted her while she wiped her tears and took in a deep breath. “I’m not a kid. You don’t have to comfort me with lies. I—”
Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open roughly with a loud bang.
