My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 262
Chapter 262 How Can You Care More About Her?!
“Yu?” Qin Jinhuan held her in terror as he called for the doctor; he was panic-stricken.
Huang Bo, who had been nervously standing outside the ward, immediately rushed in once he heard Qin Jinhuan’s cries. Then, he started calling for the doctor as well.
Before long, the medical staff came running into the ward and they tended to Mu Yu swifty in an orderly manner.
Qin Jinhuan was quickly ushered outside by a nurse, so he stood by the door and peered in impatiently from the glass panel. However, the view was blocked by several medical personnels; he couldn’t do anything but wait restlessly.
Meanwhile, Huang Bo stood stiffly by the side with his head lowered.
“What happened?” When she heard the news, Rong Ying hurried to Mu Yu’s ward at once. She questioned Qin Jinhuan with horrified shock, “Did you tell Yu about the baby? Didn’t I remind you not to tell her about it yet?”
She was sure that Mu Yu’s condition wouldn’t have gone downhill so suddenly if she hadn’t been emotionally triggered.
“No,” Qin Jinhuan muttered dejectedly in reply.
“If you didn’t do so, why did her condition get worse? She couldn’t have gotten so worked up for no reason.” Rong Ying wasn’t convinced. Just then, she noticed that Qin Jinhuan’s eyes flashed momentarily. Hence, she prodded suspiciously and asked, “What did you say to Yu?”
“Nothing.” He looked away.
Rong Ying’s expression hardened as she said sternly, “If you don’t tell me what you said that triggered her, don’t you dare put the blame on anyone else when she’s unable to receive suitable treatment because of this, Huan.”
Qin Jinhuan’s face stiffened at the thought of that; the corners of his mouth tugged slightly, but no words came out of it.
Rong Ying stared fixedly at him for a few seconds—she seemed to have realized something. “Was it Yin Anran who did this to her?”
Back when Rong Ying had received a call from Rong Jian and found out that Mu Yu was severely injured from a car accident, she didn’t have time to ask about the details of the accident; she simply gathered her team and rushed to the scene to save Mu Yu’s life. When Mu Yu’s condition became stable and she was transferred to Fraternity Hospital, only then did Rong Ying ask Rong Jian about the entire incident. Nonetheless, she didn’t press on when Rong Jian told her that he wasn’t sure of the whole story—she simply assumed that it was a typical car accident. Right now, she felt that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
“No, it wasn’t.”
Qin Jinhuan’s immediate answer was even more questionable. At that moment, it made Rong Ying suspect Yin Anran even more. To think that Qin Jinhuan was persistently defending the woman who hurt Mu Yu so badly while she suffered from the trauma and injuries—it made Rong Ying furious when she thought about it. She glared at Qin Jinhuan in disbelief and said bitterly, “Were you listening when I told you the extent of Yu’s injuries, Huan? Are you perhaps completely unbothered by it? Don’t tell me that you don’t care about her at all!”
“That’s not it! I…” Qin Jinhuan trailed off; he turned behind to take a look at Mu Yu through the glass panel of her ward. Seeing that it had been covered, he turned away in abject frustration.
Rong Ying took a step closer and stared up at him in disappointment. “Don’t tell me you care more about Yin Anran than Yu, Huan!”
“Nonsense!”
“Yu was already speculating that Yin Anran had put someone up to stage an accident. She wanted you to confront Yin Anran, but you didn’t believe her; you didn’t believe that Yin Anran had done that to her, so an argument broke out between the two of you. That’s why Yu coughed out blood in a fit of anger, right?”
Rong Ying’s tone sounded much like Rong Jian when he was interrogating crime suspects; Qin Jinhuan, who was already moody, became even more heated from her accusation. He pushed her away harshly and snapped, “Stop acting smart and go back to what you were doing.”
Rong Ying stood on the spot, quivering in anger as she stared straight into Qin Jinhuan’s eyes and questioned him further, “Huan, why didn’t you consider the possibilities before looking into what really happened and firmly insisted that it wasn’t Yin Anran who staged the accident? Do you trust her that much? Yu barely had a narrow escape from death—do you know how much hurt you’ve caused Mu Yu to take a stand against her and put a hundred percent trust in Yin Anran? It’s so unfair for Yu!”
“This is my problem; it has nothing to do with you.”
“Huan!” Even though Rong Ying was overcome with frustration and concern, she kept her volume in check as they were still standing outside Mu Yu’s hospital ward. Meanwhile, it was clear that Qin Jinhuan wasn’t willing to carry on their conversation; he turned around and started walking away. When she saw his reaction, Rong Ying couldn’t let it go and rushed forward as she was eager to speak up for Mu Yu. She warned him threateningly, “Yu is covered in fractures and bruises right now—she’s a victim! As the person who loves her the most, you should put her feelings first no matter what you say or do! Even if it turns out that Yin Anran isn’t the perpetrator, you shouldn’t be so direct when bringing up your points—it’ll cause a lot of misunderstandings, and she wouldn’t be able to take it!”
Qin Jinhuan didn’t return her gaze or say a word; he only cast his eyes downward.
Rong Ying was utterly disappointed by his indifference toward the matter. In fact, she used to respect him and was always polite with her words; this was the first time she was being loud and brash to him.
After pausing for a moment, Rong Ying walked up to Qin Jinhuan again and stared at him with her stern eyes. She advised him solemnly, “I know you love Yu very much, Huan, but I don’t think you understand how to love a woman. To a woman, her lover should be loyal and caring to her in all aspects of life—he should understand her thoughts, her happiness, and even her troubles. When she hits her lowest and needs the most love, he should be there for her to give her the emotional support she lacks and rebuild her confidence. If he can’t do those things, her ardent love for him will gradually fade away; he will slowly lose a place in her heart. Though this painful process is very hurtful, she’ll know that it’s better to get it over with quickly than to suffer the same pain throughout her life. Once she lets go of her feelings, the relationship is as good as gone. You know, I really hope you two can grow old and live a long life together, Huan—I don’t wish for my words to become a reality. I truly hope that you’ll think about what I’ve said, for it’s not worth losing the one you love the most over someone insignificant!”
Qin Jinhuan took a glance at her before looking away almost immediately; he didn’t utter a single word.
Rong Ying felt completely defeated by his lack of response. Then, she turned around and looked at Mu Yu’s door with a face full of sympathy before she let out a long sigh.
After that, the two of them didn’t say another word as they stared anxiously at the closed door.
At last, the door to Mu Yu’s ward opened. Once the doctor noticed Rong Ying and Qin Jinhuan waiting outside, he took off his face mask in relief and told them that Mu Yu was fine.
“The patient’s condition is still unstable, so it’s best not to trigger her,” the doctor reminded Qin Jinhuan.
Qin Jinhuan stepped forward without answering and pushed the door open. At that moment, he was about to step inside when Rong Ying blocked the entrance.
“Yu just fainted because of you, Huan. I think she’d get worked up as soon as she sees you, so it’d be better if I take care of her in the meantime.”
“There’s no need for that.” Qin Jinhuan ignored her suggestion and went straight in, closing the door behind him.
Rong Ying felt a little disgruntled as the door was shut in her face. However, she was aware of Qin Jinhuan’s bad temper and knew that she couldn’t drag him out by force. After giving it a thought, she whirled around and quickly headed back to the doctor’s office.
When he entered the ward, Qin Jinhuan noticed that Mu Yu had already woken up; her complexion was still pale as she lay on bed and stared motionlessly at the white ceiling with her blank and unblinking eyes.
“Yu.” He sat down on the side of the bed and held her hand gently in his. “Are you still…”
By instinct, she flinched and pulled back at the touch—perhaps he had accidentally brushed against her wound. She gasped and let out a painful hiss through gritted teeth.
“What’s the matter? Are you hurting somewhere?” Qin Jinhuan stood up panickedly and bent down while showing his concern for her.
Mu Yu didn’t respond to any of his gestures and shut her eyes. As she did so, tears trickled down her cheeks from the corners of her eyes.
Qin Jinhuan’s heart ached at the painful sight, for he knew exactly why she was upset. He quickly grabbed a piece of tissue paper and dabbed it on her face. At the same time, he whispered her name repeatedly in hopes of apologizing and explaining the situation. “Listen to me, it’s not what you think it is. I…”
Her eyes remained shut as she cocked her head, expressing her dissatisfaction toward him with her body language. “Get out,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Yu…”
“Do you like to see me covered in wounds and bruises?”
“That’s not it! I…”
“Then leave.”
She didn’t open her eyes the whole time and her voice was calm. However, the stream of tears which escaped her eyes were proof that she was extremely unsettled; she was strenuously forcing herself to keep her emotions under control.
Qin Jinhuan hesitated for the fear that she might collapse again from another emotional outburst. Though he didn’t want to leave her alone, he eventually stood up and walked out of the room.
Then, he immediately made a call to Rong Ying outside the room and requested her to take care of Mu Yu.
“Tell me, then—what did you say to Yu that completely overwhelmed her emotions?”
Rong Ying understood better than anyone else that an emotional trauma could only be resolved by the one who caused it. In order to take good care of Mu Yu, she had to dig out the truth from Qin Jinhuan no matter what.
“I didn’t say anything to her; she must’ve woken up early and overheard Rong Jian and I debating about the car accident.”
“You two must’ve brought up Yin Anran, right? Rong Jian speculated that she was involved but you argued otherwise, am I correct?”
“Yes,” Qin Jinhuan admitted to it reluctantly.
Right now, he regretted more than anything for discussing the details of the car accident with Rong Jian in Mu Yu’s hospital ward. After all, when they arrived at Fraternity Hospital, Rong Ying had informed him that Mu Yu would still be unconscious for quite some time. If he had known that she was going to wake up soon, he wouldn’t have rambled on with Rong Jian; instead, he would have kicked him out right away.
“I knew it.” She didn’t know what else to say aside from expressing her disappointment.
“I wasn’t defending Yin Anran.” Qin Jinhuan had no choice but to explain himself to Rong Ying for Mu Yu’s sake. “I was just analyzing the situation logically.”
“Oh, really?” Rong Ying was skeptical. “Are you sure your judgement isn’t biased?”
“Do I look like someone who’d allow my emotions to overpower my reasoning?”
“At the very least, it seems to me that you are doing it right now.”
“You…” When he realized that his efforts were bouncing off a wall, Qin Jinhuan let out a frustrated grunt and said irritably, “Just help me to make her feel better.”
Rong Ying shrugged nonchalantly. “I will try my best if she listens to me.”
“All right.”
“Hey! Where are you going?”
“I’m going to make it up to her.”
“How are you planning to make it up to Yu? What are you… Huh? Huan?”
With that, Qin Jinhuan stepped into an elevator and quickly pressed a button. By the time Huang Bo slipped through the closing doors, Rong Ying’s words were already cut off from the enclosed space.
Meanwhile, Qin Jinhuan completely ignored Huang Bo as he fished out his phone and made a call to Bian Zijun. However, he suddenly realized that there was no reception in the elevator. After cursing in frustration, he walked out as soon as the doors reopened and prepared to call the same number. Before he could do so, his phone rang with a call from Bian Zijun.
Qin Jinhuan picked up at once. “Speak.”
“Something odd just happened, Boss!”
