Chapter 219 Dire Consequences of Making Your Wife Angry
“Oh my God! Who is that?” Mu Yu cried in surprise as she quickly shoved Qin Jinhuan away.
“No one. No one at all. You guys can go on.” The mumbles of Mu Yu’s parents sounded in the dark before the sound of their rushed footsteps followed as they quickly shifted away. They shut the bedroom door behind them.
“Told you they’d go to bed.” Qin Jinhuan’s smug voice emerged in the dark.
“Don’t you have better things to do?” Mu Yu pushed him away angrily.
“Alright. Stop being mad at me. I know I brought supper home a little too late tonight, but I really had matters to handle. Please forgive me, my beloved wife…” he pleaded.
“You had matters to handle? What sort of matters involve following a woman into a room in the middle of the night when it’s just the two of you in there?” Mu Yu said with a scoff.
“Anran was ill, so I had to go over and take a look…” he explained.
“Woah, I didn’t know you, the almighty President Qin, provided such services of treating a sick woman!” she continued sarcastically. Qin Jinhuan seemed a little embarrassed by her sarcasm, so he forced a smile as he continued to explain himself. “I can’t treat her myself, so I brought a doctor over to her.”
“Doesn’t the doctor know his own way there? Why did you have to bring him over? She can’t possibly be sick to a point where she can’t send the doctor her location by herself, right? If she was really that ill, what’s the purpose of bringing a rookie doctor over to visit her? Shouldn’t you just put her into an ambulance and send her directly to the hospital? I’m sure she’s just feigning her illness with a single purpose in mind—to get you over to take care of her in her bed!” she cried.
Qin Jinhuan felt a little frustrated as Mu Yu’s words seemed to have exposed him a little. “Stop talking nonsense,” he mumbled before he could stop himself. Tears began to form in Mu Yu’s eyes as she was already furious to begin with. “How dare you speak to me so fiercely after you made a mistake?” she cried.
His expression quickly softened along with his voice. “I’m not being fierce, I just…”
“Get out!” she howled.
“I really didn’t do anything behind your back!” he insisted.
“God knows what you all did,” she grumbled.
At this point, Qin Jinhuan—who usually disliked having to explain himself—finally got a little agitated. “Why would I come over to look for you if I really had done something behind your back?”
“Do you think I need you to come looking for me? Get out now!” she shouted.
“No, I…”
“Get out!” she howled at the top of her lungs before clenching her fists and gritting her teeth in anger. He panicked at the sight of how furious she was, and he no longer dared to argue with her. He simply tried to apologize while calming her down.
“Don’t you understand what I’m saying? I’m telling you to get out!” she growled.
“Yu…”
“Are you trying to piss me off to the point where I get a heart attack?” she hissed.
“No, I just…”
“Then why aren’t you leaving yet? I’m about to lose my mind!” As Mu Yu screamed in anger, she choked on her own saliva and began to cough violently. Shocked, Qin Jinhuan quickly leapt forward to pat her back. “Get out!” she howled before coughing again. He finally gave in to her request as he was worried that she might actually choke to her death otherwise.
He raised his hands in defeat. “Alright, don’t be mad. I’ll leave,” he muttered as he stepped back while turning around. However, he lost his bearings in the darkness and a loud thud sounded as he did the exact same thing that Bian Zijun had done—slamming his head against the door.
As he hissed in agony, Mu Yu heartlessly shoved him out the door before he could regain his senses. He stumbled out and fell toward the ground. “Boss!” Fortunately, Bian Zijun was standing right outside, and he quickly jumped forward to help Qin Jinhuan before he crashed against the pillar.
“Are you alright?” Bian Zijun asked nervously.
“Are you hoping that I’m not?” Qin Jinhuan shoved him away dejectedly before staring at the front door, which was now shut in front of his face.
“No, it’s not that. I just…” Bian Zijun muttered.
However, Qin Jinhuan simply ignored him as he looked around at the rest of his men. “Who was the one who revealed my whereabouts?” All of the men exchanged glances as they remained as silent as mice. Meanwhile, Bian Zijun was more anxious than ever.
“Did you guys all become mutes?!”
“I-It was me,” answered Bian Zijun as he dabbed his sweating forehead. “I didn’t do it intentionally, though. The young mistress asked…”
“Did you inform her of my whereabouts just because she asked? Is there something wrong with your brain?” Qin Jinhuan scolded as he glared at the man angrily.
“It was my mistake, Boss,” Bian Zijun muttered.
“What’s the purpose of admitting your mistakes now? I want you to be sent off to Africa the first thing tomorrow! You aren’t allowed to return until I tell you so!” yelled Qin Jinhuan in a fit of anger.
“Yes, Boss.” Bian Zijun had no choice but to agree despite feeling frustrated.
“What are you still standing here for? Get out of my sight!”
“Yes, Boss.”
“Wait!” Right then, the front door opened as Mu Yu stepped out from the house. “This has got nothing to do with Zijun; I simply managed to trick him.” She had gotten suspicious when Qin Jinhuan did not return home even though it was past 10.00PM just now, so she gave Bian Zijun a call. During their conversation, she deliberately asked him why there were so many fireworks happening at Splendor Residency. “There aren’t any fireworks here,” he replied. Immediately, she knew that Qin Jinhuan was at Yin Anran’s place—Yin Anran had just moved to stay at Splendor Residency and Bian Zijun was Qin Jinhuan’s personal bodyguard, so he went wherever Qin Jinhuan went.
“Yu…” Qin Jinhuan’s tone of voice immediately softened. Mu Yu wasn’t hesitant to interrupt his sentence. “If you insist on sending Zijun off to Africa as a laborer, I’ll have to go with him since I was the one who started this issue,” she said.
“Did I say that I was going to send Zijun off to Africa? You must’ve misheard me,” Qin Jinhuan uttered with a beam.
“That’d better be the case.” Mu Yu’s tone of voice changed a little. “Do you understand your own mistakes now?”
“Yes, yes—I’m willing to bear all the punishments that you have for me, my dear wife.” He knew that he had made a mistake, so he lowered his dignity and ego to coax his wife in front of his own men. After all, he knew that those men wouldn’t dare to gossip about him behind his back.
“I want you to go home and write me a report to reflect on your mistakes. I want it to be meaningful and handwritten, and it must be a minimum of 3000 words!” she ordered.
“T-Three thousand?” he stuttered.
“Five thousand!”
“Okay, okay—I’ll do it. Let’s go back together; you can watch me while I…” Before he could even finish his sentence, the door slammed in front of his face with a loud bang. Mu Yu had gone back into the house, and he was left with a stiff, frozen smile on his face. After listening to her gradually vanishing footsteps, he finally turned around to leave once he could no longer hear anything. Usually, Bian Zijun would be the one to come up with a plan during such times. However, the man was now anxious and silent after the mistake he had made. Similarly, the rest of Qin Jinhuan’s men were reluctant to say anything as they could see how furious he was; they didn’t want to become the next target of their boss’s anger.
The weather outside was freezing cold, and the silence within them simply enhanced the bone-chilling sensation they felt. Huang Bo finally gave a suggestion when they were almost at their own place. “The young mistress has always been a filial daughter and she often listens to her parents’ advice, Boss. Perhaps you could give them a call, and I’m sure they’d be on your side.”
Qin Jinhuan simply gave him a cold stare and an agitated look. “Do you think I need you to remind me to do that?” Huang Bo quickly clamped his mouth shut fearfully. Qin Jinhuan let out an exaggerated scoff before he rolled his sleeves up and stepped into the house. I’ve heard that women can be extremely moody when they’re on their period, but I really experienced a whole new level of that moodiness today. I don’t mind if she goes back to her family home and leaves me outside in the freezing cold, but she wants me to write a 5000-word reflective report?!
Once he got back to his room, he walked over to the coffee table and caught sight of the supper he bought earlier, which had already turned cold. He smiled bitterly at the meal that he had specially purchased for Mu Yu despite having to queue in the frosty weather. Since he wanted to secretly make up for his mistakes, he had told her that he was buying supper. However, he hadn’t expected this to make him look even more guilty for what he did!
He let out a long sigh as he felt his tummy rumbling. He didn’t just remind Mu Yu to have a light dinner earlier; he even skipped his own dinner just so that he could have a nice supper with her. My plan of having the perfect supper just went down the drain. Fine, I probably deserved it anyway. He gave up on the thought of eating and stepped over to the study desk instead. Getting himself a pen and paper, he attempted to work on the reflective report for his wife.
While Qin Jinhuan was racking his brains to write the report, Mu Yu wasn’t much better off either. Both her parents were nagging her non-stop; they warned her about her harsh acts and tried to drive her out of the house heartlessly. Her parents’ standpoint was clear—Qin Jinhuan was the most perfect son-in-law ever and Mu Yu was pregnant with his baby, so she had to go back and live with him.
Mu Yu, who was already annoyed to begin with, simply couldn’t tolerate the fact that her parents were siding with an outsider. In a bout of fury, she accidentally revealed the fact that she wasn’t actually pregnant. Both her parents hung their jaws wide open in shock. When they finally came back to their senses, they immediately tugged onto her sleeves and led her over to the door so that they could chase her out of the house.
“Since you’re not pregnant, that gives you more reason to go home and check on Young Master Qin. There are tons of girls pining after him—especially the one that you mentioned earlier. Once you release your grip on him and she fills in the empty space that you’ve left, everything will turn into a disaster!” Mu Yu’s mother shouted in her ear.
“If he were really that easily attracted to another girl, I’d rather just let him go—it’d be too tiring otherwise.” Mu Yu finally found herself a bagful of snacks after pushing her parents out of her way; she was starving and ready to pick out one of her favorites. However, before she could find herself a snack, Hu Meiling snatched the entire bag away and jabbed her daughter on the head angrily as she continued lecturing her. “You silly brat! Don’t you understand that you’re just inviting women to go to Young Master Qin if you do this?! Men are practically primates that think only with the lower half of their body; if you continue…”
“Hey! I don’t think that’s nice, Meiling!” Mu Ziyao patted his chest. “I’m not like other men!”
Hu Meiling immediately rolled her eyes at him. “Pfft! Who do you think you are? Why are you trying to associate yourself with my son-in-law?”
“I’m not associating myself with him; I’m just stating hard facts! You said that men only think with the lower half of their bodies and that’s just discriminating against us!” he explained.
She stuck her arms onto her waist as she rolled her eyes yet again. “So what if I discriminate against you and other men? Are you trying to go against me right now?”
“I…” he hesitated.
Before her parents could break into a fight, Mu Yu quickly stepped forward to calm them down. “Stop bickering, guys. I’ll go back once Jinhuan submits his letter of repentance, okay?”
“No!” Both her parents exclaimed in unison. “You’re making this too hard for him; he can’t possibly come up with a 5000-word report,” one said. “Him coming over to apologize is already good enough. Don’t think too much of yourself,” another said.
“Fine, fine. I know what to do, so don’t worry about me. Go back to bed; we have to shift houses early tomorrow morning.” Mu Yu urged her parents to go back to their rooms as she could no longer bear the sound of their nagging voices in her ear.
Once the room fell silent, Mu Yu realized that she no longer had the appetite to eat the snacks on the bed. She lay down and stared at the ceiling for a long while before she grabbed her phone and sent Qin Jinhuan a text message. ‘Bring your 5000-word long report over to The Phoenix Gardens for lunch at 12.00PM tomorrow, or else I’ll bring my documents to the Bureau of Civil Administration and get a divorce.’ The previous area where her family house had been situated was about to be demolished, and a few of the neighbors who were close to her parents had moved over to The Phoenix Gardens. Hence, her parents got Qin Jinhuan to find them a new piece of property in that same area.
After sending the text, she sprawled on her bed while scrolling through all the pictures of Qin Jinhuan on her phone. She couldn’t help but chuckle as she imagined the troubled, frowning expression on his face as he attempted to write the report. She called it a ‘letter of repentance’, but Mu Yu just wanted it to serve as a reminder for him. He’s been getting too close to Yin Anran lately. Although Yin Anran is the one who’s pulling the tricks, he’s providing her the opportunity to do such things—that makes him at fault too. Of course, the minimum of 5000 words was just a rule she came up with; what mattered more to her was the attitude he used to write the report. The word count was no big deal.
The next morning, she woke up early. With the help of the home moving and cleaning services, Mu Yu and her parents successfully shifted their belongings over to their new place at The Phoenix Gardens, managing to settle in at noontime. As Hu Meiling and Mu Ziyao knew that Qin Jinhuan was coming over for lunch, they were busy preparing meals in the kitchen while Mu Yu rested on the couch. Meanwhile, she was thinking about visiting Feng Rubing in the afternoon.
She finally realized the time when the 12.00PM news appeared on TV. She jumped up in surprise before jogging over to the window and glanced out of it. Jinhuan isn’t here yet! Furious, she quickly dialed his number. Why isn’t he picking up his phone?! Did something bad happen to him?
Worried, she quickly called Bian Zijun to find out that Qin Jinhuan was seated in his own office at the company right then. Mu Yu was stunned upon realizing that he hadn’t even replied to her text message from the night before. Does it mean that he wants me to bring my documents over to the Bureau of Civil Administrations?
