My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 201
Chapter 201 My Senior, “Brother Sha”
With both her hands clenched tightly onto the front seat of the car, Mu Yu was in a state of utter terror as she waited for the collision to happen between both the cars while calling out for Huan in her heart. Crash!
“F*ck!”
“Ow!” The force of inertia caused her head to slam against the front seat, but to her surprise, the impact wasn’t as strong as she had expected it to be. “Are you alright, Yu?” Rong Jian’s familiar and anxious voice was followed by a light tap on her shoulder. “Chief Rong, Doctor Mu—are you guys okay?” Zhang Yiming’s fearful voice came next.
When Nie Yunkang got him to work for Mu Yu yesterday, the man had warned him endlessly about how Mu Yu was the wife of the Qing Tian Group’s CEO, as well as how he should be especially polite to her. Zhang Yiming himself was aware of how well-known the Qing Tian Group was. The car accident only got him more frightened as he had just asked his cousin about Rong Jian’s family background—he knew that he wouldn’t be able to bear the responsibilities if anything ever happened to either one of these two people. He deeply regretted his kind offer to be their driver that day.
Stuck in a daze, Mu Yu tried to steady herself before she lifted her head up and blinked a few times. She could still see stars as she tried her best to force a smile in order to assure the others that she was fine, but her smile didn’t seem too steady. “I’m fine,” Rong Jian told Zhang Yiming before he directed his focus back to Mu Yu. “Let me bring you for a checkup at the hospital, Yu.”
“I’m really fine; I’m just a little shocked.” She feigned a casual laugh before looking at the wreck in front of them. The front of Rong Jian’s car had collided with the front of another car, who had been coming from a horizontal direction. Judging by the damage done on both cars, it seemed like both drivers had managed to pull the brakes just in time, or the outcome might have been disastrous.
“Are you really alright?” Zhang Yiming felt like his heart was caught in his throat; his voice sounded a little odd as he tried to speak. “Yeah, but we don’t know if the other person is fine. Let’s go take a look.”
“Okay.” Zhang Yiming heaved a sigh of relief and praised the car’s braking system as he turned around.
Click. Click. Bang! Bang! Bang!
Just then, someone was trying to open their car door while knocking against their window. All three of the passengers were shocked and hadn’t had a chance to react before the person outside switched from knocking on their window to tapping against it furiously. This was followed by a concerned shout, “Hey! Are you guys alright? What’s going on?”
“We’re fine, we’re fine.” Zhang Yiming assumed that it was some kind passerby and quickly unlocked the car to step out.
“Is everyone inside alright?”
What? Mu Yu was shocked. This voice… isn’t it…
“We’re fine. Is that car yours? You guys…”
“Are you blind? Couldn’t you see the red light?” A fierce and rough man’s voice interrupted Zhang Yiming as he said, “You were the one who broke traffic laws, so you’ll have to bear full responsibility for this!”
“I will be responsible for this. Do you want to call your insurance guys, or… Oh no! Oh my God! I-I…”
“Wait for me in the car; I’ll handle this.”
“Chief Rong, his car…”
“It’s fine, I’ll handle it.” As Rong Jian spoke, Mu Yu followed him out of the car as she was a little worried. A gust of wind struck, and she shuddered at the cold. Rong Jian, who had been making a call, hurriedly gestured for her to get back into the car as he said, “Yu, the wind’s really strong here! It’s freezing.”
“It’s fine,” Mu Yu said as she put her knitted hat on while looking around for the owner of the voice that she had heard earlier. Her gaze fell upon Zhang Yiming, who wore a glum, depressed expression as he stood in front of the other person’s car. She instinctively took a look at the car’s logo. The other person was driving a brand-new Maserati, but she couldn’t tell which model it was as she didn’t know much about cars. However, she could tell that this car was pricier than the Land Rover; she finally understood why Zhang Yiming had nearly lost his mind earlier.
He was probably stressed out about paying for the damages on Rong Jian’s Land Rover, and he now had to pay for the other party’s damages on their luxury car. For someone with a regular pay grade, it was definitely a huge deal. However, based on what she knew about Rong Jian, he’d never ask Zhang Yiming to bear any of the consequences. She wasn’t worried about him, so she merely continued looking around.
Rong Jian didn’t try to force her back into the car as he saw her roaming around outside. He then turned to the other driver before he said, “I have an emergency to deal with now. This is my ID and name card; my phone number is listed there. You can send your car to the workshop first, and let me know once…”
“It’s fine. You guys can leave.” Mu Yu’s eyes lit up at the sound of the man’s familiar voice as she quickly looked around for it. She then noticed Xin Yihan standing by the opposite car before she quickly ran over as she shouted, “Yihan!”
“Yu?” Xin Yihan froze for a moment before he broke into a grin and said, “I couldn’t recognize you because of that huge hat on your head.”
“Really? I’ll take it off, then.” She pulled it off her head with a cheeky smile. “Hey!” Xin Yihan feigned an angry tone as he ordered, “Hurry up and put it on! Do it! I don’t want you catching a cold!”
“Yu?” A more serious and stern-looking lady stepped out from the back of the car as she asked, “Were you in the car earlier? Are you alright?” Mu Yu narrowed her eyes to see that it was Yin Xiaotian, and she skipped forward cheerfully to hook onto the lady’s arm as she said, “I’m good, Xiaotian. Were you all in the car? Is everyone alright?”
“Fortunately, I had been driving slow. If I was any faster, or if I hadn’t been paying attention, we would’ve all been dead!” The fierce voice sounded once again.
“My apologies.” Rong Jian stepped forward and apologized once he recognized Xin Yihan. “Let me fix your car for you.” Xin Yihan didn’t seem to mind as he simply waved it off while saying, “As long as we’re all alright. It’s a small matter; don’t worry about it, Chief Rong.”
“Thankfully, I wasn’t the one driving. We might’ve had a little bit of a problem if that were the case,” Yin Xiaotian said as she imagined the disastrous scene in her head.
Curious, Mu Yu asked, “Did Yihan change his car?”
“No, this is a new year’s gift for Xiaotian. She had been sick for the past few days, so we were a little late to collect the car,” Xin Yihan explained as his warm and gentle gaze landed on Yin Xiaotian. She met glances with him and smiled happily, the love in their eyes more than words could ever describe.
Mu Yu had initially wanted to compliment Xin Yihan for being so lovely to Yin Xiaotian, but upon his mention of her sickness, she quickly asked, “How are you feeling now, Xiaotian?” Yin Xiaotian had missed work for almost a month because of her illness. The doctor said that her symptoms indicated a burnout from working too hard, which was why she needed a longer period to recuperate. Previously, once Mu Yu took the time to visit and understand her situation, she immediately got Qin Jinhuan to give Yin Xiaotian a longer holiday so that she could recover at home.
“I’m fine now. In fact, I’m preparing to get back to work tomorrow.”
“You’re returning to work so soon?” Mu Yu expressed her concern as she said, “You look a little pale; are you sure your body will be able to handle it if you start working now? Since the Lunar New Year is coming soon, why don’t you come back after the holidays? I can ask Huan…”
“No, no—I’m fine.” Yin Xiaotian flashed a smile at Xin Yihan as she said, “Since my new car just got into an accident, I can now enjoy the services of having my own private chauffeur driving me around.”
Before Mu Yu could tease her, the fierce voice interrupted and said, “If I had a wife as pretty and warm as her, I’d be willing to drive her to and back from work each day.”
“In that case, Driver Li, you should…”
“I still have some urgent matters to attend to, President Xin.” Noting how everyone seemed fine, Rong Jian impatiently cut off Yin Xiaotian’s words and said, “I’ll make sure to pay you back in the future.”
“Oh, do go ahead.” Xin Yihan hurriedly gestured for the driver to move the car away.
As the weather was less-than-ideal, there were only a few cars on the road. Furthermore, since the road itself was rather wide, the two cars didn’t disrupt the traffic although they had stopped right in the middle of the road. “We’ll be leaving now, then.” Rong Jian didn’t hesitate as he turned around and signaled for Mu Yu to get into the car.
“Wait!” Zhang Yiming, who had been in shock after the accident with a luxurious car, finally came back to his senses and glanced at Xin Yihan before he turned around. He seemed to have thought of something, for he froze on the spot before looking back at the other man. Xin Yihan returned a curious glance as he felt odd to be stared at in such a manner. “You’re…” Zhang Yiming hissed as he scratched his head and squeezed his eyebrows together, looking as though he was deep in thought. “That…”
“Do you know me?” Xin Yihan asked with a smile. Zhang Yiming continued to stare at him for a long while before he inquisitively questioned, “Have you heard of Qingyuan High School?”
“Qingyuan High School?” Xin Yihan seemed rather dumbfounded as he asked, “Which part of the city is it at?”
“No, no—it’s not in An City. It’s in Qingyuan County. Do you know where that is?”
“Qingyuan County… I’ve heard of it, but I don’t remember much about it.”
Right then, Yin Xiaotian interrupted their conversation to remind him, “The Guanghui Pen Factory is at Qingyuan County, right?”
“Ah! Yes, yes—President Wei once told me about this. No wonder it sounds familiar.” Xin Yihan finally realized why it had sounded so familiar. He then swiftly turned back to Zhang Yiming as he asked, “What about Qingyuan High School?”
“Um, it’s nothing. I thought you graduated from that school because you look a lot like a senior whom I used to look up to.”
“Oh, really? How similar are we?” Xin Yihan asked with a laugh.
Zhang Yiming returned the smile as he said, “Your eyes look similar to his at first glance, but after staring at you for a while, you guys don’t look that identical.”
“Even so, that means that they still look rather similar.” Mu Yu seemed interested in their conversation as she continued, “I wonder what your senior’s name is. Perhaps he’s Yihan’s distant relative.”
“I forgot his actual name, but his nickname has always been ‘Brother Sha’.
“Brother Sha?” Mu Yu laughed as she teased, “Are you saying that Yihan looks like one of those naughty boys at school?”
“No, no—the word ‘Sha’ describes one who is especially talented and undefeatable, while ‘Brother’ is just a term to pay our respects to someone. Brother Sha was every junior’s idol as he was extremely smart and his grades nearly perfect—we all admired him. In fact…”
“Doctor Zhang!”
“Oh! I’m coming!” Zhang Yiming responded to Rong Jian immediately before he bowed down to Xin Yihan apologetically as he said, “Sorry—I mistook you for someone else.”
“It’s fine.” Turning toward Mu Yu, Xin Yihan then said, “It’s cold out; you have to take good care of yourself. Xiaotian has been learning how to cook recently, so we should invite President Qin over to have a meal someday.”
“President Qin has been really busy as of late. We can plan this some time later.” Yin Xiaotian stepped forward and thoughtfully tidied Mu Yu’s fringe, which had been messed up by the wind. Once Mu Yu realized what Yin Xiaotian’s words meant, she felt like her good mood had been ruined once again. Hastily, she bid them goodbye and got into the car.
Although the hood of the car was dented from the collision, the vehicle was still functionable. On the way there, Rong Jian gave the vehicle repair workshop a call, and the workshop’s workers were already waiting for them by the time they arrived at the hospital Feng Qiqi was in. After passing his car keys over to the workers, the trio walked directly toward Feng Qiqi’s ward.
“My arm hurts, Rong Jian.” With her lips pouted, Feng Qiqi began to whine the minute she saw Rong Jian. It was evident that Rong Jian was the one who mostly took care of her daily matters; she didn’t even ask why her sister wasn’t around. Rong Jian stepped forward to comfort her while her teacher explained how Qiqi had gotten injured. At the end of her speech, the teacher hesitated a little before she said, “I’ve already reported this to the headmaster, and the school will be sure to step up and deal with this issue. We hope that you’ll be able to work with us; we’ll also try our best to get Qiqi’s medical and nutritional expenses compensated.”
“Thank you, teacher. Sorry for troubling you. We’ll do our best to work with the school.”
The teacher seemed much more relieved after hearing Rong Jian’s words. He sent the teacher out and was about to come back to comfort Feng Qiqi, but he soon realized that the look on her face had completely changed. She furiously shoved him away as she asked, “How could you do this to me and my sister?”
