Chapter 146 He Is Willing to Wait
“Chief Rong? What happened?”

“Yu, I’m sorry to disturb you at this hour.”

“It’s okay, I’m fine. Just tell me what happened,” Mu Yu eagerly asked, as she could tell that Rong Jian was worn out.

“I’m going to visit Kiki’s friends to ask them some questions, but it seems like the rest of the team have their hands full with something else. Besides, they’re all ladies, so I was thinking maybe…” Rong Jian extended his note in embarrassment.

“Well, you don’t have to come right now because they all work until midnight. So, they’re usually dead to the world until the afternoon. Tell you what, you’re going to stay home in the morning, and I’ll pick you up in the afternoon,” Rong Jian excitedly said.

“No problem.”

After hanging up the call, Mu Yu yawned and put her phone down before burying herself under her blanket.

“What’s this idiot doing calling you so early in the morning?”

Upon hearing Qin Jinhuan’s unhappy voice, Mu Yu realized he was already awake and turned back to find him looking at her. She then slowly turned and met his gaze before she started explaining, “Chief Rong is going to visit Kiki’s friends for some questions in the afternoon, and he’d like me to tag along.”

“Why did he get a forensic scientist to tag along for an interview like that? Is there no one else in the special investigation unit?”

“Come on! All members of the special investigation unit are men, while Kiki’s friends are all ladies. Chief Rong thinks it’s more appropriate to have a woman along with him.” Mu Yu immediately grasped Qin Jinhuan’s hand when he was reaching out for his phone. “Not like you don’t know how bad Chief Rong is in talking with girls, or else he and Madam Feng would have been an item long ago.”

Having Mu Yu under his control, Qin Jinhuan acted even cheekier than before.

With her limbs being restrained, her movements were largely limited. Therefore, she could only purse her lips to resist his kisses while giving him a death stare as a warning.

Although he was her legal husband, whom she had reconciled with, she wasn’t mentally prepared to take things between them further. Even though they both had shared an intimate moment once, she was set up by someone else at that time, which she had no memory about at all. Therefore, she subconsciously disapproved of that intimacy.

Upon seeing her involuntary tremble, he saw through her fear. So, he didn’t press further but instead merely caressed her face and asked, “Do you know your mistake?”

“Yes, I do. I’m sorry about that.” She nodded and admitted her fault, worrying that he might use that as an excuse to take advantage of her again.

“Alright, I guess I shall forgive your mistake for the sake of your honesty.” He stopped messing with her and rolled to the side of the bed to keep his distance from her.

She heaved a sigh of relief and quickly withdrew back to her place as well, but not before placing the bolster back to the middle between both of them. After wrapping herself tightly in her blanket, she finally felt safe and secure.
