My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 136
Chapter 136 Stop Hurting Her
Qin Jinhuan heard some noises and instinctively pushed Yin Anran away. He then swiftly made for the door to investigate.
It was Zeyu?!
He heaved a sigh of relief but soon reprimanded the visitor with a darkened gaze. “Why didn’t you knock on the door?!”
“When have I ever knocked before entering your office?” Wen Zeyu rolled his eyes at him and flashed his gaze across Yin Anran.
Qin Jinhuan hid his uneasiness, and he said to Yin Anran, “Go see a doctor yourself.”
Yin Anran was glad to have gotten Qin Jinhuan’s forgiveness, so she didn’t mind Wen Zeyu’s scornful look. Before she turned around and left, she said, “Alright, Jinhuan.”
“Miss Yin!” Wen Zeyu called out to her. He then reached out for something in his pocket and gave it to her. “This is for you.”
Yin Anran looked back, only to find an air ticket in his hand. Without even paying attention to the flight destination, she refused to accept the ticket and pushed it back to him. “Thank you, President Wen, but I don’t think I need this anymore.”
Upon saying that, she smiled at him before she turned around and left.
“She doesn’t need this anymore?!” Wen Zeyu was taken aback by her response. After snapping out of his trance, he grew furious and threw the ticket at Qin Jinhuan. “Even after how she treated Yu, I can’t believe you’re still unwilling to drive her away! Do you know that you’re hurting Yu for turning a blind eye to Yin Anran’s actions? Do you really think Yu is a fool who doesn’t know who was behind that incident? She didn’t make Grandpa deal with Yin Anran because she was worried about your relationship with Grandpa. She turned the other cheek for your own good, yet you took her consideration for granted and hurt her in return! Do you know that what you’ve done is shameful? Even I feel the secondhand embarrassment!”
Unlike the agitated Wen Zeyu, Qin Jinhuan appeared to be relatively calm. He slowly sat down and took a few sips of tea with his eyes gazing forward in a relaxing manner.
“Qin Jinhuan!” His calm demeanor only served to make Wen Zeyu angrier, in which the latter darted to his table in just a few steps and slammed on it hard. “Quit playing mute and deaf!”
“What can I say?” Qin Jinhuan gazed at him in an unconcerned manner.
“You need to give Yu an explanation!” Wen Zeyu bent over to pick up the air ticket on the ground and threw it at him once again. “The great president of Qing Tian Group watched as his wife was humiliated and insulted. You’d be a laughingstock once the words get out. By then, I would find it shameful being your friend in An City, even if you had the cheek to stay around here.”
“Anran has apologized to Yu.”
“She has?” Wen Zeyu sounded surprised. “Since when?”
“Before you came.”
“Did she apologize over the phone?”
“Yes, she did.”
Wen Zeyu coldly smiled. “Well, even though she did apologize, she would still have to be forgiven by Yu.”
“Yu forgave her.”
“That’s impossible?!”
“I don’t have the need to lie.”
Wen Zeyu stared at him for a few seconds to see whether he was lying. He then snorted, “The only reason Yu forgave her so easily was because she is a kind person. Furthermore, even though Yu really did forgive her, so what? After what she did, she thought she could get away with it by simply apologizing? I’ll poison her drink one day and paralyze her. Then, I’ll apologize to her and see how she feels.”
“Enough, just do what you think is right and quit being a busybody.”
Qin Jinhuan didn’t tell his best friend about the incident, in which Yin Anran swallowed the whole pack of laxatives, because he knew he would be teased for going soft on her.
Regardless, he still felt guilty because of Yin Anran, even though he knew he had been too soft on her.
“I’m a busybody? I’m fighting injustice! I simply can’t stand how you’ve always spoiled Yin Anran.” Wen Zeyu didn’t see through what was on his mind but instead continued teasing him, “You seem to dote on her a lot. Is it because you see her as Yin Anjing?”
Qin Jinhuan’s face suddenly took on an irritated expression. “What nonsense are you talking about?!”
“You seem a little worked up, which means I guessed it right!” Wen Zeyu angrily slammed on the table once again. “Since Yin Anran is the one you love, why didn’t you tell Yu sooner? Instead, you’ve grown closer to her. Where is your conscience?”
Before Qin Jinhuan could answer, Wen Zeyu continued to speculate as if he knew the whole story. “I get it now! It was because of Grandpa’s unstable condition that you pretended to marry Yu. Once Grandpa passes away, you’ll divorce her and marry Yin Anran. Am I right? I can tell you care a lot for Grandpa, but don’t you think that’d be a little unfair to Yu? She loves you so much, yet your heart is with Yin Anran. You pretend to be close to Yu because of Grandpa’s illness. Then, you watch her suffer from the worry of losing you like you’re watching a show. You are really…”
“That’s enough!”
If those words were to be heard by Mu Yu…
“Huan, we must have a clear conscience and stand tall at all times. This was what Grandpa always taught us when we were little. Have you forgotten them all?”
Qin Jinhuan’s gaze darkened when he heard Wen Zeyu’s sincere words. He then replied, “No, I haven’t!”
“If you haven’t forgotten about it, then why did you treat Yu this way?”
“This is none of your business, and I know what to do, so don’t worry! If there is nothing else important, please leave.” He was so fed up that he showed Wen Zeyu the door.
“I hope you will not continuously hurt Yu. Otherwise, you will lose the woman loved you and your best friend as well. Hmph!” Upon saying that, Wen Zeyu angrily slammed the door shut behind him.
Qin Jinhuan ignored the slamming of the door and calmly opened the drawer. Then, he composedly stared at the item that was lying inside—a golden scalpel.
“I hate white dresses the most. Therefore, I left the dress on the bed in your lounge, so feel free to give it away to someone else. Besides, your golden scalpel brings me bad luck, so please don’t ever put it in my purse again. Because I want to get rid of the bad luck.”
Mu Yu’s harsh words kept ringing in his ears.
He had thrown the torn and tattered dress away, but he didn’t have the heart to get rid of the golden scalpel given back by Dong Wanqing because it was his first gift to her. It was a gift that was specially made for her, so that he could replace Xin Yihan in her heart.
To him, the white dress that she tore symbolized her disregard for his love. However, if he threw away the gifts he once gave her, it would mean he gave up on his love for her, which was something he couldn’t bring himself to do.
“They say gold is softer than silver. Fortunately, the golden scalpel didn’t do Miss Dong much harm. She’ll only have to stay in the hospital for a week before she is good to go.” These are the words Dong Wanqing’s doctor told him.
“If you agree not to terminate me, I won’t take any legal action against Mu Yu.” This was Dong Wanqing’s message passed on by her doctor after she had woken up.
Despite his hatred toward Dong Wanqing, he had no choice but to agree to her terms for Mu Yu.
Likewise, keeping Yin Anran by his side was not his initial intention, but…
He wasn’t always soft-hearted, but failing Yin Anjing was simply his biggest mistake. Therefore, he made a promise to look after Yin Anran before Yin Anjing passed away. Watching Yin Anran grow up, he always had a soft spot for her, not to mention the fact that she always had a knack or two to convince him.
He couldn’t believe he was so indecisive and irresolute deep down. Upon thinking about that, he held the scalpel tightly in his palm.
Meanwhile, Yin Anran exited Qin Jinhuan’s office before she quickly entered the restroom. Along with the running tap water, she threw up the laxative that was in her mouth. Then, she stuck her finger into her throat to make herself throw up more of the remaining laxative.
Coincidentally, Zhi Xiaoyin came to the restroom and saw her vomiting. Shocked, she immediately asked, “Assistant Yin, what’s wrong? I’ll call the infirmary at once…”
“No, thanks!” Yin Anran rejected coldly as she stood up.
“Alright, then.” Zhi Xiaoyin grew concerned, as she seemingly knew what was wrong.
“I’m in a bad mood, so I’m sorry for raising my voice.” Yin Anran apologized while wiping her mouth.
Zhi Xiaoyin bitterly smiled. “It’s alright. Now that you’re fine, I shall make a move first, perhaps.”
“Secretary Zhi,” Yin Anran called out to her. She then bit her lips and pitifully begged her. “Could you please keep what you just saw between us? You mustn’t speak a word of this, especially to Huan. Can you do that for me?”
Yin Anran’s reaction only served to confirm Zhi Xiaoyin’s suspicion and unnerved her even more. Nonetheless, she still nodded repeatedly like a chick pecking grains of rice on the ground.
“Thank you, Secretary Zhi.”
Upon thanking her, she gently looked up and pretended to let out a heavy sigh. Then, she proceeded to leave the restroom with a gloomy face.
However, after exiting Qing Tian’s building, she slowly grinned like a Cheshire cat.
Despite the massive amount of laxative she swallowed, she wasn’t worried about her own health at all. Instead, she was counting on Zhi Xiaoyin’s big mouth to spread the word around. She better not disappoints me like Dong Wanqing.
Being aware of Qin Jinhuan’s hatred toward Dong Wanqing, she took this chance to make Dong Wanqing the scapegoat. By doing so, she could kill two birds with one stone by giving Mu Yu a hard time and getting rid of Dong Wanqing.
Nevertheless, little did she expect her plan would later backfire on herself.
Yin Anran’s memory of nearly being driven away by Qin Jinhuan from An City haunted her. However, her hatred for Mu Yu also grew stronger with that. The moment Wen Zeyu opened the door and entered the office, she noticed a feeling of anxiety flashed across Qin Jinhuan’s eyes because she knew he thought it was Mu Yu who entered.
She had always known Qin Jinhuan cared about Mu Yu, but she didn’t believe that it was to such an extent.
Mu Yu, let me tell you something! I won’t let you take Jinhuan away from me!
We’ll see how this goes down! Hmph!
Meanwhile, Mu Yu, who just exited Qin Xiaozhi’s room, sneezed and started to shiver. She thought she wasn’t wearing enough, so she quickly ran back to her room to put on more clothes. Then, she leaned back on her couch with her notebook in her hands to study Zhao Yongli’s case. Nevertheless, the words in her notes kept reminding her of Qin Jinhuan, making it hard for her to concentrate. In the end, she decided to put her notebook aside while staring at the ceiling with her eyes wide open.
She couldn’t understand why Qin Jinhuan sided with Yin Anran when she confronted him about the matter, but ‘dealt’ with Yin Anran himself later on.
It seems like Qin Jinhuan still cares for me.
Bah! Mu Yu, you’re such a loser!
Qin Jinhuan must have had enough of Grandpa’s warning, so he taught Yin Anran a lesson! Otherwise, he would have done it long ago in the office. So, stop your wild imaginations!
She kicked her blanket in disappointment, instantly losing interest in figuring out why Qin Jinhuan lectured Yin Anran. After that, she swore to herself that she would stop paying attention to Qin Jinhuan from then on. Therefore, she didn’t bother asking whether he would be coming back for dinner, and neither did she wait for him to be back before hitting the hay.
For the next two days, she was still mad at Qin Jinhuan, in which she didn’t go to his office but instead stayed in the meeting room. Besides, she went to bed early before he came home every night. Therefore, the two of them barely interacted with each other, both at work and at home.
Nonetheless, she had slowly gotten used to her current life, so when Jiang Wenwen invited her to go shopping, she agreed without thinking twice.
After work, she went shopping with Jiang Wenwen at a mall. Soon, they felt hungry and decided to enjoy some hot and sour noodles at a noodle stall behind the mall.
Halfway through their meal, Mu Yu’s attention was suddenly drawn to a man who was delivering containers of water—Wang Linhua. She was instantly shocked because she thought Wang Linhua was still in custody. Therefore, she quickly called Rong Jian to confirm what she saw.
“Wang Linhua is no longer our suspect.”
Wang Linhua came to An City to make a living half a month ago. Two months earlier, when Sun Meilan was murdered, he was still in another city far away from here—which meant he had an alibi. In light of the similar modus operandi between the murders of Sun Meilan and Zhao Yongli, the police believed that the same person committed them. Therefore, since Wang Linhua was no longer a suspect of Sun Meilan’s murder, he was ruled out as a suspect of Zhao Yongli’s murder as well.
Rong Jian continued to explain, “We found Kiki. She admitted that she fell out with Zhao Yongli twice over some prostitution money and insults. Yet, she denied that she will ever kill someone out of grudge.”
After learning that Wang Linhua was not the murderer, Mu Yu could hardly contain her happiness for him. Upon hearing Rong Jian’s statement, Mu Yu said with a smile, “I agree that Kiki wouldn’t kill someone over something so trivial. After all, she has been in Camphor Forest for five years, so she must have seen people with all kinds of characters.”
“Kiki didn’t tell us the truth.”
“You mean, she lied?”
“Yes, she did. There is more to this than meets the eye about her relationship with Zhao Yongli.”
