Chapter 129 A Meaningful Present
“Why aren’t you eating?” Qin Jinhuan who was wiping his chopsticks with wet wipes stared confusingly at Mu Yu.

“Dong Wanqing works in the canteen?”

“Yes, she’s the assistant manager.”

Mu Yu was rather surprised. “She’s the assistant manager of the canteen? I recalled that she wasn’t taking up this post previously.”

“After I returned to the company, she came over to this department.”

“Oh.” Mu Yu looked at the food in front of her and was deep in thought.

“What’s wrong?”

An idea began to form in her mind. She got up and switched their meals as she said, “I want to eat your meal instead. It suits my taste more.”

Qin Jinhuan did not stop here but he jokingly said, “My meal suits your taste? Are you saying that I don’t suit your taste?”

Mu Yu rolled her eyes at him. Then, she lowered her head and began eating.

“Why are you eating so slowly? Do you want me to feed you?”

She thought that he was merely teasing her but to her surprise, he actually moved his spoon over to her food. She immediately held his spoon with her chopsticks and brushed it aside. With an annoyed look on her face, she said, “Can you let me have my meal in peace?”

Instead of being angry, he grinned and replied, “I am feeding you so that you would be able to enjoy your meal.”

“I am not disabled.”

“This has nothing to do with disabilities.”

Once again, he stretched his arm out and moved his spoon over. She angrily slammed her chopsticks on the table. Just as she was about to reprimand him, she realized that everyone around was staring at her. Then, it struck her that she was Qin Jinhuan’s wife and she realized that she should not argue with him in public. She quickly picked up her chopsticks and immediately put on a smile. At the same time, she kicked him under the table as a form of warning.

Qin Jinhuan retracted his feet and his hand as if nothing had happened. He slowly sipped on the soup while staring lovingly at Mu Yu.

On the other hand, Mu Yu ate while glancing at him. She saw the loving look directed at her and although she knew that it was fake, her heart could not help but raced. As such, she quickly averted his gaze.

However, after some time, she realized that she had consumed half of her meal and yet he was still dandily sipping on his soup. It seemed like he had no intention of eating. Thus, she could not help but remind him that the food was turning cold and that he should hurry up and consume them.

“I am not hungry. I am just here to accompany you.” Qin Jinhuan gently stirred his soup like one would with coffee.

He also did not let her know that it was his first time dining in the canteen.

Upon hearing what Qin Jinhuan said, Mu Yu was surprised. However, she was not in the mood to be emotional. She was worried he would not consume the meal so she quickly put on a concerned look and said, “Not having your meals on time is a bad habit and it’s bad for your health. At the very least, eat some of it. I would be worried if you fall sick.”

She said that while picking up the chopsticks and passing it over to him.

Her gentle and soft-spoken voice was very effective. Even though he was not hungry, he still picked up the chopsticks and began eating.

Mu Yu was delighted and she continued saying, “That’s right. I also heard that the meals given to the employee in the canteen were specially curated by a nutritionist. You seemed to have lost some weight. Thus, you have to eat more of this nutritious meal.

“You too.”

“Alright, let’s enjoy the food together.” Mu Yu immediately gobbled down a few mouthfuls of the food. However, she still stared at him as she was eating. She even treated him like a child and occasionally said what he liked to appease him so that he would continue eating.

Qin Jinhuan slowly chewed on the food while being suspicious of Mu Yu’s intention.

He brought Mu Yu to have lunch at the canteen with the intention of showing it to Yin Anran. Although Yin Anran would not be at the canteen, he was certain that she would eventually hear about it. At first he was worried that Mu Yu would be furious after being forced by him to consume the rice cake. Then, she would not cooperate with him and have lunch together. To his surprise, she was so welcoming and enthusiastic.

All of a sudden, Mu Yu’s questions about Dong Wanqing flashed through his mind. As such, he understood what Mu Yu was up to. He could not help but smirked and continued playing along.

Mu Yu was also delighted to see that he had finished up the meal in front of him. She then gobbled up the food on her plate as well. She wiped her mouth clean and got up to leave.

“You want to take a break?”

Mu Yu understood what he meant so she nodded her head and whispered, “Is it not convenient?”

“What do you think?”

“Then why are we here wasting our time? Let’s go.”

That’s more like it.

She smiled at him and unlike her usual self, she walked forward and held onto his arm. Then, she led the way and walked towards the lift.

He smiled in return and followed along in her footsteps.

Both of them with their own intentions left their intimate silhouette behind for Dong Wanqing.

However once they entered the lift, Mu Yu let go of Qin Jinhuan’s arms. She tilted her head and stared at him.

He crossed his arms and as he leaned against the wall, he jokingly asked, “Do I look handsome?”

“Yes.”

As if you look handsome…

“I would look even more handsome up close.” He suddenly stood upright and leaned in close to her.

“Hey! As if I wanted to see you up close!” She was still making fun of him and was not paying close attention to his movements. Thus, by the time she wanted to back away, it was already too late. His arm was already around her waist and she naturally resisted. “Move your hand away!”

“I like it this way.”

“I don’t!”

“This is my company.”

“This is my waist!”

She pinched hard onto his arm around her waist. Although he grimaced in pain, he hugged her tighter. She squirmed and tried to escape but after a few tries, it was to no avail. She felt helpless and eventually gave up. At the same time, she scolded, “Scoundrel.”

“Yes, I am a scoundrel.” The very next second, he behaved like a scoundrel and trapped her against the wall. He also promptly lowered his head.

“Hey, hey, hey! What are you all doing? Don’t mess around with me! Otherwise I won’t go easy on you!”

“Oh really? Thank you my dear.” She smiled and at the same time, she heaved a sigh of relief. She wanted to give him a thumbs up for his ability to get himself into the role right away.

“You fool, why is there still a need to thank me? Isnt it normal for a husband to give their wife a present? As long as you are happy.”

“How could you say that you would like the present before even seeing it?”

He tilted his head slightly and he leaned in close to her ears as he whispered. “Would you like a kiss even more?”

As he said that, he gently pecked her on the cheek.

His reminder about the fact that they were putting on a show shut her up and she had no choice but to suppress her anger. As such, she had no choice but to put on a forced smile.

However, once they entered his office and after the door was shut, she let out her anger at him.

“Qin Jinhuan, what do you mean by that?” She placed her arm on her hips and glared angrily at him.

“Nothing. I am merely cooperating with you and showing off our love for each other. Isn’t that what you wanted when you pinched me?”

The innocent look on his face pissed her off. “I wanted you to cooperate with me to show our love for each other but did I allow you to take advantage of me?”

“Did I take advantage of you?”

“Didn’t you? Was it a ghost that kissed me just now?”

“I merely brushed against your face by accident. How’s that taking advantage of you? I didn’t touch you anywhere else.”

“Qin Jinhuan, that’s going too far!”

“How’s that going too… Ah!” Qin Jinhuan who was happily bickering with Mu Yu suddenly frowned and rushed over to the private lounge.

With a loud bang, he shut the door of the private lounge and her voice was blocked out of the room.

She wanted to enter the passcode and get into the private lounge but after thinking it through, she turned around and walked over to his desk. She sat down and patiently waited for him to walk out.

Around seven to eight minutes later, Qin Jinhuan opened the door of the private lounge and walked out. Mu Yu immediately walked forward and asked, “Having an upset stomach?”

“Yup.” Qin Jinhuan walked over to where she was seated just now and made an inter-company call. He asked for a cup of warm tea.

“Down with diarrhoea?”

“A little bit.”

“What do you mean by a little bit?” Her expression turned solemn.

“Perhaps it’s…Ah!” Once again, he ran into the private lounge.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Mu Yu turned around and saw that it was Zhi Xiaoyin with a cup of hot tea in her hand. Mu Yu signalled for her to leave as she said, “Bring him a cup of water instead.”

“Water? CEO Qin told me just now he wanted a cup of hot tea.”

“You must have heard him wrongly. He wanted warm water.”

“How could I possibly…”

“Hurry up and go. He would need it later on.”

“Oh, alright.” Upon seeing how adamant Mu Yu was, Zhi Xiaoyin dared not question any further. Shortly after, she came in with a cup of warm water.

After Zhi Xiaoyin left, Mu Yu bent down and gently whiffed at the cup of boiling water to cool it down.

Soon, Qin Jinhuan walked out of the private lounge once more. This time around, he had a pale look on his face. Once he got out, he rushed over to his desk and before he even took a seat, he picked up his phone to make a call.

“There is no need for a doctor. I have some medicine here and the water has cooled down as well.” Mu Yu knew what he wanted to do so she took out the medicine she had yet to finish and passed it over to him.

Qin Jinhuan’s gaze turned cold and he said, “You put laxative in my food?”

Mu Yu rolled her eyes at him. “Your employee is the one that put the laxative in my meal. No wonder I had diarrhoea yesterday as well as the day before that. If I wasn’t smart enough to switch my meal with yours, I would be the one rushing to the restroom now.”

Qin Jinhuan got extremely annoyed and he replied, “Since you knew somebody put laxative in your meal, why didn’t you let me know?”

No wonder she kept pleasing me and pampered me to finish the food. Turns out she had such motives.

Mu Yu shrugged her shoulders and replied, “It was merely my suspicion. I was afraid that my diarrhoea over the past two days were just a coincidence. I was only certain that someone put laxative in my meal when I saw you rushing to the restroom. Hey! This is your company’s canteen and as a member of the task force that is trying to solve your case, why was I being treated like that? Don’t you think you should look into this and do a thorough investigation of the management team of the canteen? I need an explanation.”

She purposely emphasized on the words ‘management team of the canteen’ as a reminder to him.

He definitely knew what she meant and thus the look on his face turned cold. Then, he turned around and got ready to leave.

Mu Yu immediately dragged him back and said, “Eat the medicine first!”

Qin Jinhuan hesitated for a while but eventually took the medication. Then, he took off and left. However, when he reached the door of his office, he suddenly stopped and turned around. He said, “There is a present on the bed for you.” Only then did he leave.

Present on the bed? Mu Yu pouted her lips.

She did not think that the present on the bed would be any proper gift.

Despite that, she could not restrain her curiosity and she eventually walked into the private lounge. Like he said, there was an exquisite pink box on the bed. She walked forward and immediately opened it up.

It was a white dress.

She immediately took out the dress for a closer look while thinking about the reason for giving her the dress.
