Chapter 116 Silhouette of the Murderer
Wen Zeyu brought the both of them to the surveillance room.
“Show them the video you showed me before.”
“Yes, President Wen.” Xiao Ma who was in charge of surveillance immediately got to work.
“This video was captured by an inconspicuous surveillance camera at the back entrance of the company which we missed yesterday.” Wen Zeyu pointed at the picture on the computer screen and excitedly said towards Rong Jian and Mu Yu, “Take a look at this man. I believe he is the murderer!”
Upon hearing that, Mu Yu stretched her neck and stared carefully at the screen.
A man’s silhouette could be seen on the screen. The man was wearing a long trench coat with a cap. He kept his head down as he walked by in a hurry. Based on their estimation, he was at least 1.8 metres tall and was slightly plump. The time on the screen showed he walked past at four am on the 24th of december—the time whereby Zhao Yongli was killed.
“It is most definitely unusual for somebody to appear here at this hour. Since he walked towards Chun Cao Road, Rong Jian, send some men over to look into the surveillance tapes along Chun Cao Road. It would be easier for us to narrow down our suspects once we are able to track down his whereabouts.”
As Wen Zeyu said that, Rong Jian had already taken out his phone and gave his colleagues a call.
Mu Yu gently asked, “Zeyu, have you looked into the employees in the company who are taller than 1.8 meters?”
Wen Zeyu had also thought about it as he nodded and said, “I have asked my men to gather the necessary information and we would find out soon enough.”
As he said so, his phone rang and he immediately picked it up when he saw Qin Jinhuan was the caller. He hummed a few times before hanging up the phone. By then, he saw Rong Jian had hung up his phone as well so he said, “As of now, all the employees taller than 1.8 meters who are present at work have already gathered in the conference room.”
Rong Jian walked outside and along the way, he said, “That’s great. I will bring some men to the conference room and take down their statements. Zeyu, print out the silhouette of the suspect and send it over to the conference room.”
“Alright. Hey, sister-in-law.” Wen Zeyu stopped Mu Yu, “The information on the employees are still in Huan’s office. I would not have time to stop by and pick them up so could I trouble you to do so?”
“Oh, alright.” Mu Yu’s mind was on the suspect and such she did not think twice before agreeing to it. She left the surveillance room, walked into the lift and arrived at the CEO’s office. She had been to Qing Tian building so she knew the location of Qin Jinhuan’s office.
Qin Jinhuan’s secretary, Zhi Xiaoyin who was seated outside of the office, was busy writing. She recognized Mu Yu thus when she saw Mu Yu exiting the lift, stood up immediately and looked extremely nervous. She greeted in a loud voice, “Madam, how are you? Why are you here?”
Mu Yu who was deep in thought with the case got a huge shock. She then looked towards Qin Jinhuan’s office and said, “I am here to pick something up.”
“What do you need? Let me help you,” said Zhi Xiaoyin in a loud voice as she walked forward and opened the door for Mu Yu. At the same time, she shouted towards the room, “Assistant Yin, Madam is here.”
Only then did Mu Yu realize Qin Jinhuan was not in office and the only one there was Yin Anran. Yin Anran was actually sitting on Qin Jinhuan’s seat with a smile on her face!
“A-Assistant Yin, you—” Zhi Xiaoyin had no idea what to say as she looked anxiously at Mu Yu.
She had no idea Mu Yu was part of the task force which was why she did not expect her to arrive in the office so early. At the same time, the rumours of Qin Jinhuan and Yin Anran spread around the office came into her mind. Thus, she was afraid Mu Yu was here to pick a fight and to avoid that, she shouted out loud as a friendly reminder to Yin Anran. Unexpectedly…
Mu Yu could sense the provocative look from Yin Anran but decided to ignore her. Instead she turned around to look at Zhi Xiaoyin and said, “Where are the documents Zeyu sent over?”
“You meant these?” Zhi Xiaoyin quickly passed a folder on her desk to Mu Yu.
Mu Yu took the folder from her and flipped through the files. After, she closed the folder, turned around and left.
“Secretary Zhi, these documents are to be sent over to the conference room which she may not be familiar with. Lead the way for her,” Yin Anran instructed Zhi Xiaoyin from behind like she was the CEO.
Upon hearing that, Mu Yu who was not in the mood to fight immediately stopped in her tracks and turned around. She glanced at Yin Anran out of the corner of her eyes while questioning Zhi Xiaoyin, “What kind of secretary are you? How could you allow random people to enter the CEO’s office? What if classified documents go missing? Can you bear such responsibilities?”
Zhi Xiaoyin’s expression changed and she said, “Madam, that’s not the case, I—”
Yin Anran suddenly stood up and glared at Mu Yu as she said, “What do you mean by random people?”
Mu Yu snorted and said, “Don’t you understand? I was referring to you.”
“You were referring to me? Ha.” Yin Anran sneered as she walked past the huge office desk and stopped in front of Mu Yu. She pointed to the office desk outside of the room and arrogantly said towards Zhi Xiaoyin, “Secretary Zhi, inform her about my post in the office.”
Zhi Xiaoyin noticed that Mu Yu was staring at her and she stammered, “S-She is—”
Yin Anran got annoyed and said, “Can’t even complete a proper sentence. Looks like you are not a right fit to be the CEO’s secretary. Go and write your own resignation letter.”
“Assistant Yin, please don’t do that!” Zhi Xiaoyin quickly provided an introduction for Mu Yu and said, “Madam, she is the CEO’s assistant.”
“CEO’s assistant?”

Mu Yu’s blood was boiling.
Yin Anran had a sweet smile on her face as she said, “You may address me as Assistant Yin.”
Mu Yu glared at her and without another word, turned around and left. After all, Rong Jian and the rest of her team was still waiting for the documents in her hands. She could not be bothered to get into an argument with Yin Anran.
“Hey! You don’t come here often so why the rush to leave? Let’s sit down and have a chat,” said Yin Anran as she stretched her arms out to grab onto Mu Yu.
To be exact, she grabbed Mu Yu’s hair.
Mu Yu who was in pain became enraged. She twisted her body and clasped hard onto Yin Anran’s wrist.
“Ouch! That hurts!”
Just then, Qin Jinhuan pushed the office door open and scolded, “What are you all doing?”
“Brother-in-law, she pushed me!”
By the time Mu Yu came to her senses, Yin Anran had already fallen backwards onto the ground. She sat on the ground and gave a pitiful look at Qin Jinhuan with tears in her eyes.
“Are you okay?” Qin Jinhuan walked past Mu Yu and rushed forward to help Yin Anran up.
Yin Anran looked pitifully at him and showed him her wrist that was reddish in color as said, “My hand hurts.”
There were three clear scratch marks on her wrist which was extremely fair. Mu Yu was shocked as she knew it was impossible for her to have wounded Yin Anran like this. Despite clasping hard onto her wrists, Mu Yu knew she did not have the capability to injure her so severely.
“What happened?” Qin Jinhuan looked like he was asking Yin Anran but was questioning Mu Yu.
I just left office for a few minutes and this happened.
Yin Anran was quick to voice out and pouted her lips as she said, “She came here to collect some documents. However, she got mad when she overheard Secretary Zhi addressing me as Assistant Yin. Then, she scratched me and pushed me to the ground.”
Mu Yu angrily rebutted, “Nonsense! When did I get mad? When did I scratch and push you to the ground?”
“Secretary Zhi would be able to testify.” Yin Anran turned to Zhi Xiaoyin and looked at her with tears in her eyes. “Secretary Zhi, let him know if I am speaking the truth.”
Zhi Xiaoyin was extremely conflicted. Her eyes blinked rapidly and dared not say another word.
“Secretary Zhi, send Anran to the infirmary to get her checked out.” Qin Jinhuan glanced around the room and chose not to further pursue the matter. After, he looked at Mu Yu who was furious and gently said, “Let me bring you to the conference room.”
“Brother-in-law.”
“Let’s go.” Qin Jinhuan ignored Yin Anran who sounded petty as he led the way and brought Mu Yu out of his office.
Mu Yu glanced at Yin Anran and snorted. Then, she followed Qin Jinhuan’s footsteps and left the office together.
“B*tch! Let’s see how much longer you are able to stay this way!” Yin Anran scolded and pushed Zhi Xiaoyin aside once the both of them got into the lift.
Zhi Xiaoyin timidly asked, “Assistant Yin, do you still need to go to the infirmary?”
“Are you hoping I am so severely wounded that I have to visit the infirmary?”
“No, no, no, that’s not what I meant.”
“Shut up then!”
Zhi Xiaoyin kept her head down and apologized. “Since you don’t have to go to the infirmary, I will go back to work.”
“Stop right there! Do you still want to continue working in Qing Tian Group?”
“Yes!”
“Then I am sure you know what to tell my brother-in-law if he asks about the situation just now.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Then why are you still standing around? Get back to work!”
“Ah yes.” Zhi Xiaoyin was drenched in sweat and heaved a huge sigh of relief when she got out of Qin Jinhuan’s office.
I have no idea where this woman who constantly addressed my boss as her brother-in-law came from. However, I can tell she had a unique relationship with my boss based on her vibe as well as the concern shown to her by my boss. As for the boss’s wife, the forensic doctor, rumours have it they are merely husband and wife by name. Thus, after some deliberation, she chose to side with Yin Anran. She had to be on high alert as she did not want to give up the high-paying job.
On the other side, Mu Yu and Qin Jinhuan had just gotten into the lift.
Qin Jinhuan felt uncomfortable after seeing the cold look on Mu Yu’s face. She kept her distance from him as well.
It doesn’t matter whether she pushed Yin Anran or not. After all, I did not reprimand her and even took the initiative to accompany her to the conference room. Isn’t that siding with her? Why is she still giving me such a cold look?
Qin Jinhuan did not enjoy the indifferent look on her face. He hesitated before deciding to break the silence. He said, “Do you also suspect the silhouette seen in the video was the murderer?”
“I am not sure.” Mu Yu turned her head away.
“What’s your opinion towards this murder case?”
“I have no comment.”
“Then how about the analysis and reports…”
Ding! Just then, the lift door opened and Mu Yu walked out and rushed towards the conference room. She ignored Qin Jinhuan and whatever he said.
Mu Yu knocked on the door and upon entering the room, she passed the documents over to Rong Jian. Then, she looked at the two burly and tall guys who were seated the opposite of Rong Jian. At the same time, she secretly compared their size with the silhouette seen in the video.
Rong Jian flipped open the documents as he said, “There are three more people being questioned in the other room.”
Mu Yu nodded her head as she dragged Wen Zeyu to one side and whispered, “Out of them, was there anyone who had conflicts or arguments with Sun Meilan or Zhao Yongli?”
Wen Zeyu shook his head and said, “I have questioned the other employees in detail and they all said no. These tall and burly guys are from the Information Technology Department. They were considered to be important talents in the company. Sun Meilan was merely a cleaner in the office whereas Zhao Yongli was the manager of the canteen. By right, it would be impossible for these technology guys to have any interactions with Sun Meilan or Zhao Yongli.”
“Oh okay.” Mu Yu was disappointed because the things he said had completely overturned her previous conjectures.
After spending the entire afternoon questioning and investigating, the tall and burly guys in the office were ruled out as suspects. Thus, the members of the task force were all very disappointed. As such, everyone was dispirited when having lunch at the canteen.
During lunch, Wen Zeyu told Mu Yu, “Sister-in-law, Rong Jian and the rest will head back to the conference room to have a short break. You can head to Huan’s office and rest over there.”
“I don’t want to go there. I cannot stand the peculiar smell in his office.”
Mu Yu actually meant to say there was a stank b*tch in the office but that would make her seem ill-bred. Thus, she decided to rephrase her words.
“A peculiar smell?” Wen Zeyu then understood what Mu Yu meant and gave an awkward smile. “Let me clear out the peculiar smell in his office first before inviting you over to rest.”
Without hesitation, Mu Yu agreed to it as she knew it would piss Yin Anran off.
After lunch, Wen Zeyu left and Mu Yu knew where he was headed. As such, she continued her conversation with Rong Jian about the case in the canteen. Shortly after, Wen Zeyu called and informed her the peculiar smell had been removed and she could head to the office to get some rest.
Mu Yu who was rather exhausted accepted the offer and headed straight to Qin Jinhuan’s office. When she reached his office, she realized both Qin Jinhuan and Yin Anran were not in office. Wen Zeyu entered the passcode to the resting area behind Qin Jinhuan’s office and left shortly after.
As Mu Yu lay on the bed, she glanced around the resting area which was not huge and extremely neat and tidy which made her feel relaxed.
She saw there was also a speaker next to her and planned to put on some light music. Just then, a small object on the ground caught her attention. Thus, she bent down and picked it up. When she took a closer look at the object, her expression changed.
