Chapter 107 Grandpa’s Assurance
“Grandpa? Grandpa? What’s wrong?” Mu Yu was horrified as she cried.

It was fortunate that the Qi brothers were composed enough and were able to implement simple and effective emergency measures until Lei Zhi and Rong Ying arrived. Qin Xiaozhi was already fine by then.

Rong Ying went and did further inspections on Qin Xiaozhi. After she was sure there weren’t any further complications, she advised Qi Hao and Qi Han to take good care of the old man. She then pulled Mu Yu out of the room and asked softly, “Who agitated Grandpa?”

Mu Yu sighed and she looked over toward Qin Jinhuan’s room.

After Qin Xiaozhi fainted, Qi Hao and Qi Han quickly carried him back to his room to take care of him as she followed suit. She thought Qin Jinhuan would come and show some concern too since he was the reason Grandpa was stricken with sickness. But when she turned over to look around she saw that he had already closed all the way to his room and even closed the curtains of his windows. She immediately felt disheartened.

How could she even hope for him to be nice to her if he was coldhearted toward his own family.

The Qin Jinhuan she knew before was not as heartless as this, or else he wouldn’t have agreed to the contract marriage. She had no idea when he started to be so heartless.

Rong Ying who was oblivious to what Mu Yu was thinking asked her in a surprising manner, “Didn’t the conflict between Huan and Grandpa already been resolved? Why did he make Grandpa angry again?”

“I’m also not sure.” Mu Yu did not wish to continue the conversation so she just muttered to try and change the topic, “How did you come over? Who gave you a call?”

“Lei Zhi. I have been in charge of Grandpa’s checkups since he was first diagnosed with cardiac disease last year.”

“Does Huan not know that Grandpa has this kind of heart problem?”

“He doesn’t. Huan and Grandpa’s relationship have always been bad and I was afraid he might anger Grandpa so I actually wanted to tell him. But Grandpa did not like people going against his orders and did not like others pestering in his family’s affairs. So since his situation was stable and I was able to force him to do checkups in time, I did not interfere much.”

“Speaking of which, you also knew Grandpa was feigning sickness a few months back?”

“Yeah, I was the one who arranged all those experts. Rong Ying suddenly held Mu Yu’s arms and smiled, “At first I thought Grandpa went to all the trouble just so he could mend his relationship with Huan. I would never have thought that he was trying to find a good wife like you for Huan.”

Her words made Mu Yu unable to do anything except smile bitterly.

She actually wanted to tell Rong Ying about what happened today. But she decided not to after some thought.

Just as what Rong Ying said, Qin Xiaozhi didn’t allow outsiders to meddle with his house issues. So he would definitely not like it when other people knew about the unpleasant incidents inside the house.

“Huan had always had a thorn in his heart toward Grandpa because of Aunt Sijun’s death. Even though Rong Jian, Zeyu, and I tried to get them back with one another, it was still in vain even after more than 10 years had already passed. But we could see clearly that Grandpa really cares and loves Huan dearly.”

“I will try.” Mu Yu forced out a smile.

“Grandpa is alright now. I need to go back to the hospital. Give me a call if you need anything.”

“Okay.”

Mu Yu sent her downstairs and after greeting her back, she returned back to Qin Xiaozhi’s room to check up on him. She did not expect him to already be up. She greeted him happily seeing his complexion back to normal.

“Are you feeling okay now, Grandpa?”

“I’m okay now. Did it give you a fright?” After gesturing Qi Hao, Qi Han, and Lei Zhi to leave the room, Qin Xiaozhi lovingly patted the side of the bed and let Mu Yu sit beside him.

Mu Yu was back to living in the mansion after Qin Xiaozhi explained every truth to Qin Jinhuan. Qin Xiaozhi’s attitude toward Mu Yu also changed dramatically since then. He showed great concerns toward her and treated her like a treasure. Not only did he start to speak with her softly, he even ordered the maids to prioritize all of her needs and to never go against her orders as if she was some kind of princess. She wasn’t able to get used to it in the beginning. But after her parents kept bringing up how she was loved dearly by Qin Xiaozhi and his wife when she was young, she was able to slowly get used to it and accept Qin Xiaozhi as her grandpa.

“Grandpa, why didn’t you tell us that you have a heart disease? It was so dangerous today!” Mu Yu sat at the side of his bed and asked in a concerned voice.

He knew she was trying to remind him to tell his grandson about his heart disease, but he just nonchalantly laughed and said, “My body has been through a lot, I won’t be beaten down easily.”

“But…”

“Did the argument you had with Huan today have anything to do with you asking twenty million from me?

Mu Yu nodded and explained in a low voice, “When I signed the contract with him, he said that if I violate the contract, I will have to pay twenty million back to him.”

“So you were the one who suggested the divorce today?”

“Yes.”

“You suggested the divorce because you thought Huan and Yin Anran were together? You misunderstood him. Actually they…”

“It’s not because of Yin Anran’s sudden appearance,” Mu Yu looked lost, “it’s because Huan had never loved me.”

“Nonsense. How could he not love you? If he really had no feelings then he wouldn’t have been extremely upset when he misunderstood that I sent you over to Yi Yunzhe.”

“That is because he said that he was responsible for me so that was why he questioned you. He already agreed to take care of me since we signed the contract.”

“Don’t get yourself into a dead end, believe what Grandpa is saying because I don’t misjudge.” Qin Xiaozhi let out a sigh and held her hand, “Huan had been ignoring you for these past months because of what Grandpa did but you have suffered a lot. Grandpa knows all about it. But this should not be the reason you doubt his feelings toward you. He had always been a headstrong child since he was young. He especially liked to go against me after his mother passed away. After he knew that you were the wife I chose for him, it’s normal for him to act how he is now. It was all my fault that I did not tell him the truth in the beginning, all because of my carelessness.”

“Grandpa, this isn’t because of your carelessness. It’s just that you had your hopes too high for his feelings toward me. Moreover, even if I did not bring up the divorce now, he will still ask for one in the near future. I just decided to bring it up myself so I can at least have a little bit of dignity left.”

“Did he accept when you said you wanted to divorce him?”

“He didn’t. Maybe it was because…”

“Rest assured he will never ask for a divorce with you!”

Mu Yu raised up her head as she was startled, “What makes you so sure about that?”

“Because I know my grandson the best! You don’t have to be so rash. Just let go of your feelings toward him for a while and find things that you are interested in. Give him some time, and also for me. The Qin Jinhuan that you have known will definitely come back to you in no time.”

Mu Yu shook her head, “Grandpa, you are confident now because you haven’t seen how gentle he was with Yin Anran.”

“Yin Anran?” Qin Xiaozhi smiled disapprovingly, “You can be assured that Huan has no intimate feelings toward Yin Anran. He just sees her as a little sister.”

Grandpa’s words made Mu Yu remembered what Weng Yun said to her about how Yin Anran was a younger sister of Qin Jinhuan’s friend. This immediately made her curios and she could not help but to ask further, “Grandpa, who is Yin Anran? What is her relationship with Huan?”

Even if she had set her mind to divorce Qin Jinhuan and was disheartened by how Qin Jinhuan acted toward her tonight, she still had no choice but to accept the fact that she was reluctant in leaving him. He was the first man she had ever loved; and he was also her first… It’s not that she was conservative, but for her who had never had any experience before, it had meant a great significance for her.

“She… Huan and her family were very close. Her family made Huan promise to take care of her before they passed away. Huan is a man of his words and will hold on to a promise he makes. After making the promise, he had been taking care of her ever since. This is their relationship; it is as simple as that.”

She could see the resemblance of how a brother doted on their sister as she remembered how Qin Jinhuan was gentle toward Yin Anran. She immediately felt relieved after realising to this. But thinking of how Qin Jinhuan just ignored Grandpa after seeing him faint, her heart immediately sank.

“Grandpa, are you sure that Huan is affectionate? He didn’t even come to check on you after you fainted.”

“That’s because he still doesn’t know I have a heart disease. He thought I was using my sickness to bluff him. After he knows I’m really sick with a heart disease he will definitely regret what he had done and will be having sleepless nights.

“Will he?” She took it with a grain of salt.

“If you still have doubts, then try to keep your eyes on him when you get back to your bedroom. Okay, it seems like it is already late. You should hurry back and get some rest. Listen to what I said and stop thinking nonsense. Let the time heal everything. You understand?”

She saw how confident Qin Xiaozhi was so she did not say anything. She stood up, said a few words of concerns and went back to her bedroom.

After she left, Qin Xiaozhi called Lei Zhi, Qi Hao, and Qi Han and whispered a few instructions to them.

On the other side, it was already past 2 o’clock midnight when she was back in her bedroom. She assumed Qin Jinhuan was already sound asleep. She did not expect him to be sitting in front of his desk facing the computer. She remembered Grandpa’s words and unconsciously looked over him. But immediately averted her gaze as she did not want him to realise she was staring at him.

He ignored her as she did. She picked a sleeping gown and went to clean herself in the bathroom. Qin Jinhuan was missing when she was out of the bath. She was surprised… Where would he be gone in the middle of the night?

She scanned the room and did not see his sleeping gown, so she figured he might be somewhere around the house.

Did he go to look for Qi Hao and Qi Han to ask about Granpa’s condition?

If it’s true then Grandpa knows him really well!

But she should not make assumptions too soon.

She laid down on the bed feeling tired as she was thinking about this. Then she saw his pillow on the other side of the bed and instantly remembered his coldness toward her. She was filled with anger and immediately picked up her pillow and took another set of blankets from the cupboard and laid on the sofa.

She could not tolerate sleeping in the same bed as him in the meantime.

After laying down for a moment, she heard the door creak open and him entering the bedroom. There were sounds of the door being locked and lights being turned off. After a while, she could hear him tossing and turning in the bed.

As she laid on the sofa and quietly listened to the man on the bed, she could not help but praise Grandpa for being able to predict him correctly.

Grandpa said that soon the Qin Jinhuan she knew would come back to her. Would this be true too?

Was there really nothing between Qin Jinhuan and Yin Anran? Would he really not bring up the divorce? Does he really have any feelings for her? What would Grandpa do to save her marriage this time?

She was already hurt enough by him today, so even when he searched for her in the future, would she still be able to accept his feelings again?

She could not find any answer and her thoughts were tangled in a mess. She could not help but to let out a few sighs.

You’re so hopeless Mu Yu.

A voice inside her head scolded her.

Grandpa already said, just let your feelings for Qin Jinhuan go for a while. Find something you are interested in and do it. Why are you still insisting on being intertwined with the situation?

Sigh! A moment before Qin Jinhuan told her that Xi Yihan was having problems with his work. She didn’t even know what kind of problem he was having. Sigh, she was so caught up with Qin family’s issues that she forgot to catch up with Yihan who had always been kind to her. She should find some time to visit him in the morning.

Currently Mu Yu’s troubles slowly turned into guilt. Mu Yu had no thoughts of keeping her eyes toward Qin Jinhuan as she started to toss and turned on the sofa as he did. She was barely able to sleep when it was almost the break of dawn.

However as she could sleep, she was awakened by the sound of her ringtone. She was surprised that the call was from Feng Rubing and immediately answered the call.

“Lecturer Feng?”

“Mu Yu, something major happened!”
