Museum of Deadly Beasts - Chapter 124
Chapter 124: The Visitors This Time Are Very Special
Having suffered a ‘setback’ before the curator the first time around, no matter how arrogant or haughty Black Crow was elsewhere, he behaved himself in the Visitation Hall. Not only did he tone down his temperament, but he also had black falcon soften his aura as well. Though, he didn’t have to deliberately issue the command because the black falcon was just as frightened as he was the last time. In other words, the bird more docile than Black Crow himself.
He Qing couldn’t stop herself from telling the old man, “Mister, keep your voice down or you’ll upset the curator when he comes.”
“Curator? What sh*tty curator dares to put on airs before me?” That old man had a raging temper and his pet beast was the same. The tyrannosaurus immediately grew larger until it was ten feet tall and let out a wild roar, in an attempt to establish dominance here in this bizarre realm.
He Qing shook her head helplessly and said no more.
Since he wouldn’t listen, there was no use trying to persuade him. But whoever they were, these people would eventually be tamed once the curator showed up.
At that moment, door number nine opened as well.
There was another newcomer!
This new visitor from door number nine was a woman.
Age-wise, she seemed about thirty years old at most. She was a charming woman but her expression was stoic with a swaddle in her arms. After coming in, she merely glanced around briefly before focusing her attention on the bundle of cloth in her embrace. One could hear her humming a children’s tune.
“Hush little baby don’t you cry, mama’s gonna buy you a mockingbird…”
The group was shocked.
Why did a young mother show up here?
Could average folks come here too?
He Qing assumed that visitors ‘invited’ by the curator were all experts or exceptional individuals in their respective areas. So, for a normal mother to show up with a child was nothing short of strange.
However, she soon noticed that Black Crow, who was the strongest among them, seemed to have come to a realization and backed away from the young mother.
Jiang Ziqi also did the same as well. They were reacting as if this young mother was some ravenous beast.
Only visitor number eight, the old man with the tyrannosaurus barked, “What the hell? There’s even a lady with a child. Are you all mute? I’m asking questions here!”
The next instant, this old man noticed that everyone around was staring apprehensively at him as if they had seen a ghost.
He was dumbstruck but soon, he realized they weren’t looking at him but in the direction behind him.
He turned around at once.
The young mother with her swaddle was standing right behind him with her head up, staring straight at the old man with a ghastly expression.
Just one look was enough to plunge this temperamental and conceited old man into an ice pit.
Shivers crept up his spine.
“Shh, you’re disturbing my baby’s sleep.”
It was a simple sentence but everyone felt the air freeze up instantly.
This woman’s expression, gaze, and tone were devastating.
And more importantly, when did she come over?
And why was her aura so horrifying?
Even his pet beast, the tyrannosaurus sensed something was off and shrunk away as it stared at the woman’s swaddle, intimidated.
The old man stiffened. He had a feeling that if he spoke loudly again, he might just lose his life.
Perhaps it was his luck that door number ten was suddenly pushed open. This attracted the terrifying woman’s attention, giving the old man a chance to step away, putting some distance between himself and the scary lady.
As door number ten opened, a cloud of mist poured out and another old man bearing a striking aura stepped into the hall. Upon closer inspection, one could see a large silhouette behind him shrouded in fog.
Ye Yuzhou surveyed the sight before him with great curiosity.
A few minutes ago, he was still in seclusion, lecturing Yang Jie on cultivation techniques. But to his surprise, he abruptly sensed irregularities in his pet beast so he hurried over to take a look. He then realized that his pet beast was being sucked into a portal that appeared out of nowhere.
And who did they think Ye Yuzhou was?
He was the Maple City Friar Association’s number one expert with his blood contract at the eighth realm. Also, only a handful of people have seen his pet beast’s true form before so at the sight of this strange occurrence, Ye Yuzhou leaped into the portal with his companion.
Then, he saw a wooden door with the number ‘ten’ on it.
Having stumbled into countless dangerous situations in his aged life, Ye Yuzhou was able to maintain his composure in such unusual circumstances. With a steady heart, he walked through the door and was greeted by this scene.
There were humans and pet beasts. And there were quite a number of them.
He instantly noticed the woman with a swaddle approaching him.
This woman was rambling on as she strode over, saying, “I’ve already told you all to quiet down or you’ll disturb my baby’s sleep. I only managed to coax him to sleep after so long, why won’t any of you listen to me?”
“Why won’t you listen?!”
Ye Yuzhou sensed imminent danger, but he remained composed nonetheless, simply flicking his sleeve in response. The mist behind him surged forward, solidifying into a wall five feet in front of him.
Cloudy Fog Wall.
It was an incredible defense skill. Despite looking like a thin layer of fog, the wall’s rigidity was comparable to a stone brick wall. Even an average spell could resist a wild beast’s charge and wouldn’t that shatter easily, much less this one.
Yet, as the woman approached, this advanced spell seemed to have suffered an invisible blow, cracking and disintegrating on the spot.
Ye Yuzhou was startled.
Although he knew she wasn’t an easy opponent, he hadn’t expected her to be this formidable.
“Millennial Cloud Chains.”
He moved swiftly, lifting his hands to invoke a spell in one deft movement. The fog behind him darted forward like snakes, binding the woman’s limbs in a flash. Acting like a ball-chain, the fog dragged the woman down, slowing her movement to a grinding halt.
The woman stopped for a moment before her face twisted into a savage look. As if she was human one second ago, she now became a ravening demon.
Besides this, a peculiar wail came from the swaddle in her arms.
Uwaa! Uwaa!
Their heads spun at the sound before a wave of nausea overwhelmed their senses.
Then, there was a ‘snap’!
The cloud chains broke free.
Ye Yuzhou was enraged.
“Hmph! I don’t care where you came from, demon, but your madness won’t be tolerated.”
Having said that, Ye Yuzhou planned to engage in combat with the delirious woman. The cloudy mist shrouding the black silhouette behind him gradually dispersed, revealing a flood dragon as it shape-shifted, merging with the water vapor in the air. Ye Yuzhou’s aura spiked as well, the hems of his robes fluttering despite the absence of wind. With a flick of his sleeve, the flood dragon shot out jets of water that crystallized into blades. In a blink of an eye, dozens of water blades could be seen suspended in the air. This spectacular display stunned everyone present.
Black Crow’s pupils dilated as he mumbled to himself, “This Visitation Hall is truly amazing. To think its guests are all this overwhelmingly powerful. His level of cultivation is above mine, not to mention his Rank 4 pet beast. But since his opponent is Madam Ghost Child, the chances of him winning are slim.”
It seems like Black Crow knew about this strange woman.
People like Black Crow came from a unique community filled with villainous experts. It wasn’t surprising for him to know quite a few of them because he himself was a prominent figure, bearing the nickname Black Falcon Grim Reaper.
But villainous experts also had their own hierarchy.
And Madam Ghost Child was above him within the underground community.
