Muchuan and Xiang Wan - Chapter 610
Chapter 610: Trouble That Arose Due to a Picture
Someone wrote a script for Xu Siqi.
The script told her that she would be killed inside a swimming pool.
A normal person who saw such a script would feel afraid at the sight of water.
Quan Shaoteng raised his eyebrows and made a remark. “Maybe she thought that this was just a prank?”
“It’s a possibility.” Xiang Wan took a glance at him and smiled to herself. “However, such a possibility will only happen to people like Captain Quan.”
Quan Shaoteng nodded his head.
Soon, he started to feel something amiss.
“Hey, what do you mean?”
He asked Xiang Wan.
Xiang Wan shrugged nonchalantly, showing both hands. “It’s what I’ve said.”
Quan Shaoteng raised an eyebrow and looked displeased. “So what do you mean?”
Xiang Wan smiled. “People like Captain Quan who are tall and brave would treat this as a prank, think nothing of it and would not be afraid at all. If that’s not the case…”
“What about it?”
“They could only be a fool.”
“…”
A cold glint flashed past Quan Shaoteng’s face.
“Why do I feel that when you’re talking about me, you seem to hint that… I belong to the latter category?”
“Don’t bother about such details!” Xiang Wan laughed. Not waiting for him to respond, she walked over to Bai Muchuan’s side. “So, the person who came into the room after her death was the one who put the script into her luggage.”
Bai Muchuan nodded his head.
…
The police used the excuse of assisting with the investigations and brought Zhang Houfa back to Serious Crime Division One.
As for the workers in the villa, they sent more police officers to come over and conduct an on-the-spot questioning and investigation. They had thought that it would be easy to find the one who entered Xu Siqi’s room as there were not a lot of employees. Nonetheless, all the employees claimed that they didn’t know anything. None of them admitted it. As there was a lack of surveillance cameras there, they had no proof and this actually became a tough problem.
Zhang Houfa was brought to the interrogation room.
Xiang Wan went back to her office to put down her stuff. A while later, she heard footsteps outside.
“It’s lunchtime.”
She was not sure who said that loudly along the corridor.
It was noon.
Xiang Wan looked at the time and felt a little tired. She stretched herself and decided to go to the canteen.
While getting food from the canteen, Miao Zichen walked over to her.
“Hello.” She greeted her politely.
“Hello…” Xiang Wan returned a polite smile.
Xiang Wan didn’t know much about this beautiful girl who was in her prime. She simply chatted with her just like any colleague. Usually, the two of them didn’t have much contact. Even when they meet each other, they would just greet each other and nod their heads. As they exchanged a few more words that day, Miao Zichen sat opposite Xiang Wan.
There were only a few female police officers in Serious Crime Division One.
Xiang Wan didn’t mind that Miao Zichen sat opposite her either.
“Where’s Mei Xin?” she asked casually.
Miao Zichen took a look at her. “She’s a workaholic, so she’s still in the office.”
“I see.” Xiang Wan smiled. “You guys from the Forensic Team are rather hardworking as well.”
Originally, she was just trying to be polite to her by saying that. Miao Zichen suddenly went quiet, her eyes were on Xiang Wan’s face. She seemed to be scrutinizing her and appeared as if she had something to say.
Mm? Xiang Wan asked, “Why do you look at me this way?”
“Teacher Xiang.” Miao Zichen seemed a little awkward. “I have something that I wanted to ask you.”
“Mm?” Xiang Wan looked up at her with a puzzled expression then she smiled. “Go ahead.”
“Well… will that be rude of me?” she was hesitating.
Xiang Wan’s eyebrows crumpled up together.
In fact, she disliked people talking like this.
Hence, those who could get along with her were Mei Xin and Fang Yuanyuan, who were simple and straightforward.
Xiang Wan gave it a thought and smiled. “If you feel that it’s rude, then don’t ask. If you want to ask, then don’t worry about whether it’s rude or not.”
In this way, she passed back the decision making to Miao Zichen so in the event Xiang Wan felt offended, the latter couldn’t tell her that she had agreed to it in the first place.
Miao Zichen was startled. Then she smiled. “Alright, I’ll be direct then. Actually, I wanted to ask you… are you the one that my… Captain Cheng likes you, right?”
Eh?
Xiang Wan almost choked.
She had done nothing, yet trouble would come knocking at her door.
She already had to handle Cheng Xin, who likes Bai Muchuan, as she would create trouble for her on and off.
But why did she have to handle Miao Zichen, who likes Cheng Zheng? What happened?
“I don’t quite get what you mean?” Xiang Wan didn’t want to get involved and talked in a serious tone. “I’m just an ordinary colleague of Captain Cheng. I don’t think… that I’m the one he likes?”
Miao Zichen observed her expression and smiled a little shyly.
“I won’t keep it from you. I like Captain Cheng. But I feel that… there’s something lacking between us… We’re both women, I think you’ll understand.”
She stopped talking.
Xiang Wan was confused and replied directly.
“Well, I have to say that I don’t understand.”
“It’s a feeling that,” Miao Zichen tried to explain, “he’s friendly to me but that is all there is… I tried to sound him out before. I feel that he has someone else that he likes…”
Perhaps she was too nervous, as she kept pausing and couldn’t put her thoughts across clearly and directly.
Xiang Wan tried to hear her out. “And then? What has this got to do with me?”
“Well…” Miao Zichen thought for a moment and lowered her head awkwardly. “Today, Cheng Xin showed a picture to me… I feel that Captain Cheng seemed to treat you a little differently.”
Picture?
What picture?
Xiang Wan instantly lost her appetite.
“Is it okay for me to have a look at it?”
Miao Zichen didn’t expect that Xiang Wan would ask to see the picture and was at a loss.
This was because she had sold out Cheng Xin right from the beginning and she felt bad. Cheng Zheng had always treated Cheng Xin as if she was his younger sister.
Nonetheless, Miao Zichen was not someone who liked to tell lies. Under Xiang Wan’s assertive and somewhat pushy gaze, her cheeks felt like they were burning.
“It’s, it’s a picture of you and Captain Cheng having lunch at the canteen. The way Captain Cheng looked at you is different…” Slowly, Miao Zichen lowered her eyelids. “I’ve never seen him like this before… I have a feeling that that should be his look when he likes someone.”
“…”
Cheng Xin, you witch. Xiang Wan dissed inside her head.
How could she try to create ‘enemies’ for her…
Xiang Wan felt that Cheng Xin’s intelligence was really used in the wrong areas.
Xiang Wan puffed a sigh.
“Miss Miao, I feel that you’re quite a good person and I have a piece of advice for you.”
“Mm?” Miao Zichen was surprised as her eyes went wide-opened. “Please say it.”
“Don’t listen to others trying to sow discord but ask your own heart and your head,” said Xiang Wan coldly, “if you like someone, then like him seriously. Don’t consider what you have gained or lost. Just think about what is the limit you can take. If you feel that he’s worth the effort, then just be happy and continue to do what you can. If he’s not worth it, face reality and get out of it as soon as possible.”
After she finished saying that, she got up from the seat.
“I’ll get going now. Please enjoy your meal.”
Xiang Wan walked out of the canteen.
There were rays of golden light outside.
The sun had finally broken through the clouds and mist, brightening up the world.
Xiang Wan returned to her office and opened a new document.
The detectives were busy handling the case and currently, she had nothing on hand, so she decided to write her plot outline.
She had written several cases that were linked in her novel, Murder The Dream Guy. Her story was still within her main outline but she didn’t keep to most of her other plot outlines. Xiang Wan was not bothered about this… She was wandering back and forth between the case in her book and the case in reality. Sometimes, she wondered if the case in her story was real or if the case in reality was actually fiction.
Ding! Not long after, there was a notification from her mobile phone.
It was a notification from an app that she used to read news and articles.
“An unexpected discovery in Xu Siqi’s case. The murderer’s script is exposed…”
…
