Muchuan and Xiang Wan - Chapter 267
Chapter 267: Token of Appreciation
Since it was just a small token, it couldn’t be something valuable.
Quan Shaoteng opened the door and took a quick look at Bai Muchuan and the two persons behind him; he moved aside without uttering a word.
“No sitting on the bed!”
That was his only requirement.
Of course, Bai Muchuan wouldn’t let these people sit on the bed.
However, when the two of them heard that, they didn’t dare to sit on the chair nor the sofa as well.
They stood in the middle of the room as Liang gave a fawning smile and opened the bags. He then placed them on the table.
“Brother Steel said we have to bring something good as a gift for Brother Crown Prince, and also to enjoy it with your brothers!”
Indeed, a leopard never changes its spots.
Even though they had to lie low during this difficult period, they clearly did not want to miss a big business deal. In other words, they did not want to give up this big fish—which was Bai Muchuan.
“Brother Crown Prince, give it a try?”
Liang’s behavior and fawning smile trying to please Bai Muchuan somewhat disgusted Quan Shaoteng.
He remained silent, turned his head away coldly, and wiped his gun slowly…
That’s right, he was holding a shiny gun.
When they watched how Quan Shaoteng cleaned the gun ecstatically, even a notorious gangster like Liang got goosebumps from it.
“Brother Crown Prince, have a look…”
“You can go back first!” Bai Muchuan was adjusting his hairstyle casually and did not proceed to check what they had brought him. “I don’t need to take a look at it as it must be something good if it’s from Brother Steel. Remember to send my regards to Brother Steel!”
Bai Muchuan did not reject nor did he say much, totally cold and indifferent.
As for Liang, he was hence unable to figure out what Bai Muchuan was thinking.
Even though Brother Steel had special instructions, Liang did not dare to stay there any longer.
Liang was especially worried about the man who was playing with a gun. He was really afraid that if the man got unhappy, the gun might misfire while aiming at him.
“Sure, sure. Brother Crown Prince, please enjoy it.” Liang paused for a moment and put on a broad smile again. “Well, I wonder if it’s possible to have your contact number?”
Contact number?
Since Bai Muchuan had prepared a separate set of identification documents, it was only natural he would have another contact number ready as well.
After Bai Muchuan told him a set of numbers, Liang left in a submissive manner.
The door opened quietly.
And closed quietly.
The room was quiet for a few seconds before Quan Shaoteng flipped over the bags on the table. “Geez! These b*stards are so bold. They actually dared to bring these before the police?”
Bai Muchuan glanced at him lazily before putting the bags back properly.
“Who will know that you’re the police? You… don’t even look like one.”
“Then what do I look like?”
“You look more like a gangster than the real one!”
“…” Quan Shaoteng put down his gun and pointed at those bags of stuff left by Liang. “What’s their motive exactly?”
“They are probably reluctant to let go of me—the big fish,” said Bai Muchuan.
“Big fish.” Quan Shaoteng nodded his head in agreement, a glint of darkness flashed across his eyes. “There’s one matter that I want to ask you since earlier.”
“Shoot,” replied Bai Muchuan casually.
Quan Shaoteng raised an eyebrow and looked straight at Bai Muchuan. “This stupid nickname—’Crown Prince’, that you gave Dark Clan, why did they believe it so easily?”
“I told them I was introduced by Brother Six.” Bai Muchuan narrowed his eyes to a squint. “As you already know, Zhou Dequan is already dead. There’s no one else to prove I’m not the real ‘Crown Prince’.”
“You’re saying that before Zhou Dequan died, he really did introduce someone by the nickname ‘Crown Prince’ to Brother Steel?”
“… Bingo!”
“What ’bout this Crown Prince? Who is this person?”
Bai Muchuan’s gaze darkened slightly. “This, you need not know now.”
“Hurhur!” Quan Shaoteng gave a sneer and stared at him. “Little Bai, why do I feel that there’s more than meets the eye for this matter?”
“Is that so? Tell me about it!” Bai Muchuan did not deny and replied in his usual calm tone.
“Firstly, Zhou Dequan died because he got into trouble with the police. I don’t think they will believe someone that he introduced to them so easily?”
“They didn’t believe it!” Bai Muchuan pointed at the “stuff” on the table and smiled. “Aren’t they testing the waters by bringing these over?”
“Okay, you win.” Quan Shaoteng paused for a moment. “Secondly, for Zhou Dequan to introduce someone to Dark Clan, it has to be someone he trusted or even his own underling—but was given another nickname.”
Bai Muchuan looked at him without saying a word.
Quan Shaoteng chuckled. “Based on what I know, Zhou Dequan did not use to lay his hands on such things. So this ‘Crown Prince’ whom he recommended to Dark Clan has to be one of his people. I’m guessing that he’s hankering after the monies involved in this business as this is quick money after all?”
Bai Muchuan looked at him in silence.
After a while, he suddenly laughed.
“Is this considered as one takes on the color of his company? Now that you’re working together with me, your brain has become smarter!”
“Stop the nonsense!” Quan Shaoteng didn’t buy that. “I just don’t understand. If this ‘Crown Prince’ guy didn’t die, your lie would be seen through any time…”
Bai Muchuan narrowed his eyes slightly.
He gazed at Quan Shaoteng and slowly opened his mouth.
“This ‘Crown Prince’ is one of us.”
“What! Is that an undercover?”
“Mm.”
Upon hearing that, Quan Shaoteng got really excited. “Everything makes sense now!”
But not more than three seconds later, his face turned gloomy and he asked Bai Muchuan another question. “But if you do that, wouldn’t you be revealing his identity?”
Planting an undercover agent in the underworld was not an easy task.
People who engage in illegal business are very cautious and don’t trust others easily. They are also constantly guarded against their own. In other words, when Bai Muchuan did that, the undercover agent he planted would eventually be found out and couldn’t continue with the undercover work anymore.
As for the Dark Clan, at this moment, they only know of this Brother Steel.
They had absolutely no idea who was above Brother Steel in the hierarchy of the Dark Clan.
“When the time is appropriate, I’ll give him the chance—”
Before Bai Muchuan could finish his sentence, a message came in.
It was Xiang Wan. “Hey, where are you? Why did you leave me alone in the room?”
A smile formed on Bai Muchuan’s lips as he replied. “I’m just next door looking for Laowu[Quan Shaoteng].”
Xiang Wan: “Why are you cheating on me?”
“Mm… just a little.”
“… Oh no, I fell out of love!”
This was not the first time that the two of them jested with each other.
But this time around, the exchange between them was seen by Quan Shaoteng.
“Wow!” He gave a cold glare at Bai Muchuan. “The two of you seem to have a good time cracking such jokes?”
Bai Muchuan kept his phone and glanced at Quan Shaoteng. “Why? You’re unhappy?”
Quan Shaoteng gave Bai Muchuan a thumbs up. “It’s good that you two are getting along fine but just don’t use me as the third party?”
“Third party? You?” Bai Muchuan couldn’t stop laughing. “You think too much!”
“Okay, then you explain what do you mean by ‘Laowu next door’?” Quan Shaoteng smiled devilishly and snatched Bai Muchuan’s phone. He pressed the voice recorder and sent a voice message over to Xiang Wan:
“Why would you fall out of love? Without Bai Muchuan, you’ll still have others. Little Xiang Wan, let’s be friends? Or, we can have a rendezvous…”
“…”
Xiang Wan was speechless at the other end.
Back to Quan Shaoteng, right after he sent that message, a shriek could be heard coming out from the room.
…
Ten minutes later, Tu Liang gathered everybody for dinner.
When Xiang Wan came out from the bathroom, Bai Muchuan had returned.
“What took you so long?” Xiang Wan looked at him suspiciously.
Bai Muchuan replied seriously, “I’m in Laowu’s room.”
Sensing the uneasiness in Bai Muchuan’s expression, Xiang Wan got curious. “What happened?” She asked, “Don’t tell me the two of you really have secrets that cannot be divulged?”
“What are you thinking about! Silly!” Bai Muchuan couldn’t help giving a laugh and ruffled her hair. “Let’s go. It’s time for dinner!”
Xiang Wan gave a mischievous smile and closed in on Bai Muchuan.
She pulled his arm and proceeded to look at what was beyond Bai Muchuan’s collar.
“Let me see if there’s any evidence—”
Bai Muchuan was caught by surprise and didn’t manage to avoid that!
As for Xiang Wan, right after she pulled the collar, she saw a patch of red marks on Bai Muchuan’s chest…
