Mr. Xiao's Unconditional Love - Chapter 421
Chapter 421: Reversal
“Is this damn Ye Qiao’s net worth really that high?!” the mysterious woman said as she clenched her fists.
“Miss, it’s true. Her grandmother is the chairman of the Venture Capital Group. Her dowry is 150 million!” one of the men said to the woman.
Since when did Ye Qiao have a grandmother?! And she’s that rich?! What did she miss after leaving J City for two years?! Her life must have been really good the past few years.
“No wonder she has such status in the Lu family,” she continued as she clenched her fists in anger, “quickly let the disaster victims come out! She has no proper evidence. Now let’s see how she will defend herself.”
“Yes, Miss,” the man in the suit willingly obliged to her instructions.
Currently, Su Mu was the one standing at the mic and he continued to give Ye Qiao support with his words. “Everyone, you think too highly of me. I’m just a third-rate singer and my friend, Ye Qiao, her social status, fame, and appeal are far above mine. It would not make any sense for her to use my fame to amass wealth? It is simply ridiculous,” he said to the mic.
“Miss Ye Qiao, we believe that you didn’t take advantage of Su Mu’s fame to make money. However, were these supplies really sent to the disaster area? Which disaster areas were the necessities sent to? Can you tell us?”
“I’d be happy to provide those details. In the province where Su Mu and I came from, the most severely affected area was Haizhou district of city L, Xin ‘an town. It is a coastal area and needless to say, to have a tsunami hit the area would be a catastrophe. All the farmland and villages were destroyed in the area. All the villagers are now living in the settlement area. During the day, they can enjoy the shade under the tents we donated and at night, they can rest in the sleeping bags we donated. The materials we donated to this area almost covered the entire town,” Ye Qiao replied with great confidence.
As soon as Ye Qiao finished her reply, an old man and a young man came in. They were both wearing brand-new clothes and Ye Qiao felt that their faces were familiar.
After thinking carefully, she remembered that they were from Xin ‘an town. She had even given the little boy a bottle of mineral water when she visited before. Her name was Jia Jia.
Why were they here?
Could it be…
“She’s talking nonsense! We’ve never seen any donations to us from her,” the little boy said indignantly.
The little boy’s words caused an uproar in the crowd. Immediately, reporters went up to interview them.
As she expected!
Ye Qiao sneered in her heart and felt a chill in her heart.
The old man and the young man must be grandfather and grandson. They must have taken money from the other party to deliberately set her up.
“Little boy, what’s your name? Where do you live? Why do you say that?” the reporters surrounded the little boy and asked all kinds of questions.
“My name is Tong Jiajia. My family lives in Haizhou district of L city, Xin ‘an town and Little River Village,” the little boy said as if he was reciting a book while the older man beside him nodded repeatedly in agreement. The grandpa nodded repeatedly just like a puppet being manipulated.
“She’s lying. We didn’t take anything from her,” the old man said.
“Uncle, do you really not remember me?” Ye Qiao raised her voice and asked, “I even gave you a bunch of mineral water for you and your family. The sleeping bags and tents are the standard.”
The old man looked at her with guilt in his eyes. He shook his head and said, “I’ve never seen you before.”
Ye Qiao smiled bitterly. Just when everyone thought that she had no way to refute or reverse the situation, the big screen suddenly flashed in a slide show, showing all the pictures of the charitable works that had been done.
In the pictures, the volunteers wore “Family” t-shirts and were seen carrying supplies. Some were distributing supplies to the people who were affected by the disaster. Those people had grateful smiles on their faces and there were even close ups of aunties who were so touched that they were wiping their tears.
There were also pictures of volunteers who were so tired that they were lying on the ground or leaning against the wall to take a nap.
Every picture that was shown was truly touching.
Then, a photo of Ye Qiao appeared in the slideshow. She wore a ponytail and a white “Family” t-shirt. The pictures captured moments where she was working hard to distribute supplies and talking with the victims.
After awhile, the screen froze. The picture showed an elderly uncle and his grandson smiling from ear to ear while receiving mineral water.
They were the same pair that claimed to not have received anything from Ye Qiao and her charity.
