Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 99
Chapter 99 Eat as much as you want!
Chu Hongyi couldn’t help feel happy when he heard her excited voice. “Sure! As you wish.”
“Heheh. I didn’t expect you to be so nice. Let’s go.” Cheng Xiaoxiao frolicked to the bun stall after she heard what Chu Hongyi said.
“Boss, I want 20 buns! I want every flavor you have!”
Chu Hongyi wasn’t able to keep up with Cheng Xiaoxiao. By the time he came close enough, he could hear Cheng Xiaoxiao decisively made an order.
“Xiaoxiao, we can’t finish 20 buns, right?” Chu Hongyi was slightly worried that Cheng Xiaoxiao would overeat before they got to the good stuff. He couldn’t just buy buns for Cheng Xiaoxiao now that they were finally out.
“Don’t worry! I’m a big eater! I can eat heaps!” Cheng Xiaoxiao patted Chu Hongyi’s shoulder nonchalantly. “Oh yes. You need to eat too! Boss, 20 more!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to talk to the hawker as she gobbled the 20 buns which the hawker had just packed for her.
“I can’t finish so many…” Chu Hongyi went into shock, swallowed the rest of his sentence, and wasn’t in time to stop her from buying more buns.
Chu Hongyi opened his eyes wide, closed them, blinked again before he rubbed them in disbelief.
Despite how petite and adorable Cheng Xiaoxiao looked, she had already finished 20 buns!
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao was a competitive eater, this was just an appetizer for her.
The next hawker!
Honey curd!
Yes, she wanted some!
“Boss, ten pieces of honey curd,” Cheng Xiaoxiao charged over to the honey curd hawker and turned to ask Chu Hongyi, “Do you want any?”
Chu Hongyi was still reeling in shock.
He had only eaten two buns, and the remaining 38 all went down Cheng Xiaoxiao’s belly, but she could astoundingly still eat!
“I’ll pass. Help yourself.” Chu Hongyi stood in a daze beside Cheng Xiaoxiao as he watched her wolf down the honey curd.
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao’s mouth was full of honey curd, she nodded and said vaguely, “Okay. Then I’ll eat it on my own. Pay up.”
After Chu Hongyi was done putting away the change from the hawker, he raised his head to find that Cheng Xiaoxiao was nowhere to be seen.
He looked around anxiously to see a familiar pink silhouette at the steamed bun with cured meat hawker dozens of meters away.
“Pay up!”
“He will pay!”
“Tell him how much!”
……
Osmanthus cake, crispy mini twists, pea flour cake, jellied tofu…
Chu Hongyi ended up following Cheng Xiaoxiao unperturbed.
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao gestured without even saying a word, Chu Hongyi paid mechanically.
After having her fill of roadside snacks, Cheng Xiaoxiao entered the fabric store happily with Chu Hongyi.
Cheng Xiaoxiao cheerfully touched her belly with satisfaction in her heart.
It felt awesome to eat in human form! She was only slightly full by now!
Wait a second?
Something didn’t feel right.
Why did her hands look pink?
Oh no! Her hand was starting to turn transparent.
There wasn’t enough spirit energy in the jade pendant, and she was transforming into a cat!
Cheng Xiaoxiao grabbed Chu Hongyi by the arm anxiously and ran out of the store.
“Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong? Stop running.” Chu Hongyi was dragged straight into an alley at a loss.
“Run! I can’t keep my form! I’m out of spirit energy…” Before Cheng Xiaoxiao finished her sentence, all that was left was meowing.
“Xiaoxiao? Xiaoxiao?”
Chu Hongyi felt the soft sensation on his arm vanish, and the pink silhouette disappear.
A pink maid’s uniform fell to the ground, and a familiar disheveled lion cat climbed out from under the pile of clothes.
“Xiaoxiao, what happened?” Chu Hongyi squatted down to remove the clothing covering the cat’s head.
“Meow meow…” Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Hongyi dejectedly as she gestured with her paws.
Chu Hongyi looked at her at a complete loss as expected.
Cheng Xiaoxiao should just resign to her fate!
Cheng Xiaoxiao sadly wrote on the ground, “I have limited spirit energy. I can’t sustain human form for long. I have to keep capturing wandering spirits if I want to become human.”
“Capture wandering spirits? Just like the ones in the palace?” Chu Hongyi touched his chin thoughtfully. “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go catch some ghosts!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao contemplated in her heart, “He sure is enthusiastic. I have come out for a long time, and it’s getting dark. If I don’t get home, Wan Xia will get punished.”
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao was very tempted by Chu Hongyi’s suggestion, she was taken over by reason.
“Since it’s getting late, take me back first. We can meet at the rockery again tomorrow and catch ghosts then.”
After Chu Hongyi saw what Cheng Xiaoxiao wrote on the ground, he picked her up and headed to Prince Jing’s residence.
During the time they were having fun, Chu Yunshen was throwing a huge temper at home after he came back early from work.
“Haven’t you found her yet?” Chu Yunshen’s eyes became even chillier.
“Master, we haven’t…” Xiaowu furtively glanced at Chu Yunshen’s angry face and sighed sadly in his heart.
“Your Highness, we found her!” Butler Liu hurriedly came into the room. “We found the cat!”
“Where is she?” Chu Yunshen raised his head somewhat anxiously.
“Your Highness….” Butler Liu stammered and didn’t dare go on.
“Brother Yunshen!” Chu Hongyi’s voice came from a distance. “Brother Yunshen, you can stop looking for her! I took the cat out.”
He sat down beside Chu Yunshen heedlessly and handed Cheng Xiaoxiao to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen’s face turned completely dark.
“Brother Yunshen don’t be angry. You are so busy that you don’t have time to bring Xiao… Erm… the cat out for fun or to keep her company. Isn’t she pitiful?” Chu Hongyi touched Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head sadly. Cheng Xiaoxiao was so startled that she shrank into Chu Yunshen’s arms.
“Who says I don’t have time for her?” Chu Yunshen’s voice sounded stiff as he uttered each word slowly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao really wished that Chu Hongyi could just disappear.
Couldn’t he see that the King of Hell was furious? Could he please stop fanning the flames?
Chu Hongyi was completely oblivious of how frightened Cheng Xiaoxiao was and failed to detect how cold Chu Yunshen’s words had become. He was still wrapped up in his thoughts.
“Brother Yunshen, the cat was so happy that I brought her out today. You need to care about her more. I fed her so much today while we were out…”
Please shut up and get lost!
Cheng Xiaoxiao could detect how angry Chu Yunshen was overhead. She was dead meat.
She looked at Chu Hongyi and begged him to leave.
Since Chu Hongyi was too excited talking, he didn’t notice Cheng Xiaoxiao’s gesture.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though her eyes were about to have cramps from staring at Chu Hongyi, but he continued to talk to Chu Yunshen animatedly.
Chu Hongyi failed to detect Cheng Xiaoxiao’s cues for him to leave, but Chu Yunshen saw it all and felt angry. “Cats can’t eat salty food. From now on, please don’t take her out, Prince Xuan.”
He felt even more annoyed when he saw Cheng Xiaoxiao leave Chu Hongyi’s arms so reluctantly. “I will take care of my cat. I don’t need your help.”
“It’s getting late, so please go back to the palace and don’t come over anymore, Prince Xuan. Xiaowu, send him out!” Chu Yunshen’s voice sounded stiff and cut like daggers.
The moment Chu Hongyi heard Chu Yunshen calling him Prince Xuan, he knew that his brother was angry with him, so he left the residence with his tails between his legs.
After Chu Hongyi was sent away, Butler Liu left the room. Only Cheng Xiaoxiao and Chu Yunshen were left in the room.
Chu Yunshen’s fury felt even stronger now that the room was quiet.
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought hard under this immense pressure, but she had eaten so much that her brains weren’t working well. Just as she was about to act cute to Chu Yunshen, the lifesaver, Xiaowu, came back after sending Chu Hongyi out.
“Master, Wan Xia is here to see you.”
She was a true friend!
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard Wan Xia’s name, she instantly tried to climb out of Chu Yunshen’s arms, but he firmly pressed her into his embrace.
“What’s she doing here?”
“Master, Miss Wan Xia is kneeling outside with fish soup and wants to apologize,” Xiaowu reported the situation to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen remained cold and nonchalant.
He lowered his head and saw Cheng Xiaoxiao looking at him with anticipation and muttered, “Why do so many people like you? Why does everyone try to get you out of trouble?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help it that she was charming and lovable.
She looked at Chu Yunshen without moving her eyes in an attempt to make him change his mind.
“Do you want me to see her so badly? Or is it you who wants to see her?” Chu Yunshen powerlessly prodded the cat in his arms as she stubbornly looked up and refused to budge. Since his thoughts were in chaos, he didn’t have the heart to turn Cheng Xiaoxiao down. He squeezed her ears as he said to Xiaowu, “Let her come in. I think the little fellow wants to see her a lot.”
Chu Yunshen continued to rub Cheng Xiaoxiao’s ears while Xiaowu went out to get Wan Xia. “Didn’t you eat a lot while you were out with Hongyi? Huh? Why can you still eat fish soup? Aren’t you afraid of upsetting your stomach or losing fur from overeating?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was certainly unafraid.
If Chu Yunshen discovered that she could take human form and eat proper meals, he would get quite the scare.
Cheng Xiaoxiao could vaguely sense a note of jealousy. However, she decided she must be mistaken.
She kept rubbing Chu Yunshen sweetly in the hope that it would please her boss.
Chu Yunshen spied the cat’s actions from the corner of his eye and felt deeply pleased, so his anger gradually died down.
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao had admitted to her mistakes by acting cute, it didn’t mean that Chu Yunshen wouldn’t punish her.
Chu Yunshen stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s soft and smooth white fur. Despite his gentle actions, he was contemplating how to teach the cat a lesson.
Maybe he ought to punish her by disallowing her from eating osmanthus cake for a week? Was it too much?
She was bound to explode in anger, so perhaps three days would do.
Wan Xia happened to see Chu Yunshen scratching the cat’s chin affectionately when she came in. The cat was so pleased with the scratching that it gurgled with satisfaction.
Wan Xia’s eyes went dim as she quietly knelt. “My apologies, Your Highness.”
Chu Yunshen continued to play with the cat as though he didn’t hear Wan Xia’s soft voice.
The cat seemed accustomed to his stroking, so that was good!
“My apologies, Your Highness!” Wan Xia’s voice trembled as she lowered her head meekly with her shoulders shaking rhythmically.
The room went quiet briefly as Wan Xia’s choking voice floated in the air.
