Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 89
Chapter 89 Nanny Liu
“Your Highness, you have heard what he had to say.” Nanny Liu bowed to Chu Yunshen before she said sternly, “Please send for His Highness so that he can come home with me.”
Nanny Liu noticed Chu Yunshen drinking tea without saying a word, so she used imperial consort Su to pressure him. “Your Highness, the imperial consort Su is anxiously waiting for His Highness, so I hope you can understand.”
Butler Liu walked in to say a few words into Chu Yunshen’s ear.
Chu Yunshen put down the teacup and glanced at Xiaowu behind him. Xiaowu caught his drift and told Nanny Liu, “Nanny Liu, this way, please.”
Nanny Liu didn’t expect things to progress so smoothly. She brought Chu Hongyi’s eunuch over to put on an act because she was afraid Prince Jing wouldn’t admit that Chu Hongyi was here.
However, she didn’t think Prince Jing would so quickly agree and get his personal guard to take her to Chu Hongyi.
“Nanny Liu, why are you here?”
Chu Hongyi had just gotten dressed when he saw Nanny Liu walk in with a few palace maids.
“Your Highness!”
When Nanny Liu saw Chu Hongyi standing there, she was shocked. After her brief surprise, she recalled that the imperial consort was anxiously waiting for Chu Hongyi in the palace. “Please come back to the palace with me. Imperial Consort Su is very worried about you!”
“Mother?”
Chu Hongyi was stunned. His face turned pale when he wrapped his mind around it and said, “Does my mother know I snuck out of the palace?”
Nanny Liu nodded and said, “Also, she knows you have been coming here the past few days.”
“Oh no!” shouted Chu Hongyi sadly as he slumped his head.
Nanny Liu walked up to Chu Hongyi and bowed before she said anxiously, “Your Highness, Imperial Consort Su is waiting for you.”
“Okay.” Chu Hongyi walked behind Nanny Liu as though the sky was about to fall.
“Your Highness.” Mu Bai hastily bowed to Chu Hongyi when he noticed them leaving the room and said, “After you go back to the palace, you have to take a pill each day. In three days, you should recover completely.” He handed a red porcelain bottle to Chu Hongyi.
“What’s wrong with His Highness?”
Nanny Liu hurriedly stepped in front of Mu Bai and said angrily, “His Highness is too important to be treated by a common physician like you!”
Mu Bai glanced at Nanny Liu before he smiled and pointed at the red porcelain bottle in Chu Hongyi’s hand and said, “Remember to take it.”
“Okay. Thanks, Doctor.”
Chu Hongyi nodded and raised the porcelain bottle to Mu Bai. “I will definitely take them.”
Mu Bai turned to pack up his medicine kit.
“Your Highness, what medicine is this?” Nanny Liu turned to raise her hand and wanted to take them from Chu Hongyi’s hand. “You can’t take dubious medicine!”
“Nanny Liu!” Chu Hongyi pulled his hands back and stuffed the bottle into his chest. He looked at Nanny Liu angrily. “What are you trying to do?”
“Your Highness! I-it…” Nanny Liu glanced at the bulging spot on Chu Hongyi’s chest and said worriedly, “You should be more cautious about unknown medicine!”
“Do you think I can’t tell right from wrong?” Chu Hongyi looked at Nanny Liu coldly. Mu Bai was Chu Yunshen’s private physician. Was Nanny Liu so worried because she thought Chu Yunshen might cause him harm?
“No, that’s not what I meant!”
Nanny Liu immediately bowed to Chu Hongyi.
“Didn’t you say that Mom is waiting to see me? What are you standing around for?”
Chu Hongyi stepped out of the door as he spoke.
On his way out, Chu Hongyi sensed a splitting headache when he went by Hanze Lake.
“What’s wrong, Your Highness?”
Nanny Liu hurried over to check. Chu Hongyi rubbed his temples as he looked at the lake as it gave off a glow in the night.
After Chu Hongyi woke up, he forgot about everything that happened today. His mind was blank, and he felt exhausted.
Mu Bai said this was a side effect of the shock he suffered and told him not to worry. Mu Bai assured him that he might remember everything in a few days.
……
Inside Chu Yunshen’s bedroom…
“Hey! Is this what you wanted to show me?”
The little boy floated around the cage. From the moment he laid eyes on the baby bird, his eyes lit up.
Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the table and lifted the cage door to open it.
“Meow!”
The moment the baby bird saw the white cat, it instantly picked up the bell and walked out of the cage. It jumped towards the white cat as it shook the bell.
In an instant, the bell rang nonstop.
It was such a racket!
Cheng Xiaoxiao covered her ears as she prodded the bell with her head.
“Meow.”
Put it down!
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird put down the bell and swiftly jumped onto Cheng Xiaoxiao’s bird and stood on it as it looked at the bell sadly.
The little ghost circled Cheng Xiaoxiao with the baby bird on her head. “So is this what you wanted to show me? What is its name? Can I play with it? How old is it? Why does it keep following you? Where did you get it from…”
……
“You are so irritating!” Cheng Xiaoxiao really wished she was deaf now.
She rolled her eyes at the ghost. “Shut up! Quiet down. Didn’t you say you weren’t interested?”
Despite her words, Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t idle around.
She jumped up to the window ledge with the baby bird and sat down. She pretended to look at the scenery outside when she was actually stealing glances at the ghost without answering him.
Sure enough, the little ghost became anxious.
He floated towards Cheng Xiaoxiao anxiously and wanted to probe when he heard footsteps coming towards the room.
Cheng Xiaoxiao naturally heard the footsteps too.
She ignored the ghost and jumped down the windows swiftly to stand next to the baby bird’s cage.
She pretended to be obedient.
Chu Yunshen entered to see the cat sitting guiltily with her back facing him. However, he remained worried.
He quickly what over and picked Cheng Xiaoxiao up. After examining her closely, he didn’t find anything wrong with her, so he gently heaved a sigh of relief.
“You sure cause a lot of trouble!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head and glanced at Chu Yunshen’s face. Since she felt a little guilty, she didn’t struggle to escape.
“I’m glad you are okay.” Chu Yunshen smoothened Cheng Xiaoxiao’s white fur.
She spotted the ghost sitting on the window ledge making monkey faces at her, so Cheng Xiaoxiao decided to bury her face in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
She griped in her heart, “I don’t have time to be angry with you. I can’t be bothered with you.”
Chu Yunshen certainly didn’t know what Cheng Xiaoxiao had said in her heart.
He thought Cheng Xiaoxiao was trying to apologize by acting adorably.
“Xiaowu…”
Xiaowu instantly knew what he wanted.
“Master, I will get the kitchen to send food.”
“Uh huh.” Chu Yunshen looked at the cat sitting in his arms quietly and smiled a little.
Xiaowu felt that something must be wrong with his eyes as he bowed and left the room. Otherwise, why would he keep sensing Chu Yunshen was in a good mood?
He really must be imagining things.
Before long, Xiaowu came back with some tasty fish soup along with a string of maids carrying the food.
Chu Yunshen couldn’t help feeling happy since Cheng Xiaoxiao was apologetic.
He patiently picked the bones from the fish and blew the soup to cool it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao drank the fish soup when Chu Yunshen fed her. Also, she spotted the little ghost looking at the table as she drooled.
Calm down, boy.
When she was done eating, she would play with him.
Cheng Xiaoxiao drank the fish soup leisurely as she contemplated how to deal with the ghost.
Her contrasting eyes kept moving, so Chu Yunshen knew that the cat was up to no good.
Regardless of how long he stared at Cheng Xiaoxiao, he was incapable of discovering what she was up to.
Before they even finished the food, Xiaowu whispered to Chu Yunshen, and they left the room.
Here was her chance!
It was perfect timing just when she needed it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao decided to magnanimously forgive Xiaowu the next time he provoked her and not scratch him.
“Hear my order, jade pendant, and open my eyes!”
“Little ghost!”
After Cheng Xiaoxiao finished her dinner, she jumped onto the table gracefully and touched the warm osmanthus cake in front of her with her paw.
“Want some?”
The ghost couldn’t help turning when he heard the enticing voice.
It was that irritating cat!
The ghost licked the non-existent drool on his mouth. “No, I don’t!”
He was such a liar!
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t get worried. Instead, she slowly enticed the ghost. “Are you sure you don’t want any? Then I will eat it myself.”
She moved her paw towards the osmanthus cake on the plate as she spoke.
“I’m going to eat this piping hot yummy osmanthus cake now!”
“Stop! Don’t eat it!” The ghost couldn’t help stopping Cheng Xiaoxiao when she almost touched the osmanthus cake.
“Attaboy!” Well done.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was waiting for him to say just that.
“Tell me why you don’t want to talk about your parents. Didn’t you say you miss them a lot?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao pulled her paw back from the osmanthus cake and instantly asked in an interrogative tone.
Her change in attitude was so swift that the ghost was impressed.
It felt as though he imagined things earlier.
Despite being around for 100 years, he had never seen anyone change her attitude so swiftly.
Did the cat still have spirit energy?
Perhaps he had underestimated her earlier.
The ghost was a little confused, so he accidentally shared his name.
His nickname was Doudou.
“What else? What about your background?” Cheng Xiaoxiao was so swift that she didn’t give the ghost… Correction, Doudou… she didn’t give Doudou the chance to contemplate.
This time, Doudou didn’t stupidly answer. Instead, he went quiet.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as he thought about his past.
Her lips parted, and she wanted to interrupt him, but he surprisingly spoke first.
Doudou pretended to be energetic as he implored Cheng Xiaoxiao to bring him some good food. Otherwise, he wouldn’t tell her his story.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Doudou made unreasonable demands but didn’t expose him.
She gave Doudou the whole plate of osmanthus cake to comfort him.
Doudou gradually calmed down, probably due to how sweet the snack was.
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t know that Chu Yunshen left with Xiaowu to deal with the salt embezzlement case.
Very quickly, the ghost and cat polished off all the osmanthus cake.
Chu Yunshen got back to the room after they wiped out the last piece of osmanthus cake.
He rubbed Cheng Xiaoxiao’s ears happily when she didn’t look like she was going out and wanted to bathe and change her garments.
