Chapter 88 Prince Xuan faints from shock
The moment she sensed the cold air coming even closer to her, she hastily dug her claws into the ground, arched her back before she whizzed towards Chu Yunshen’s bedroom.
“Hey! Stop! You haven’t finished explaining your disdain for me!”
The boy instantly activated his spirit energy and gave chase when the white cat suddenly run.
Chu Yunshen happened to come home from the justice department with Xiaowu and Mu Bai.
In the guest room at Prince Jing’s residence.
The servants had already told Butler Liu about Chu Yunshen’s arrival at the residence, so Butler Liu went over to welcome him the moment Chu Yunshen stepped into the room.
“What happened to Prince Xuan?”
Butler Liu’s legs went soft when Chu Yunshen asked coldly. He knelt before Chu Yunshen with a thud and said, “Your Highness, I’m so sorry!”
He kowtowed three times and continued, “Please punish me accordingly!”
Chu Yunshen glanced at Butler Liu expressionlessly. He walked around him and strode into the room as he glanced at Mu Bai.
Mu Bai immediately acknowledged Chu Yunshen and carried his medical kit into the room quickly.
Chu Yunshen sat in the chair beside the bed as Mu Bai treated Chu Hongyi. He looked at Chu Hongyi lying unconscious in bed before he waved at Xiaowu. “Send Butler Liu in.”
“Yes, Your Highness!”
Xiaowu left the room immediately and said to Butler Liu, who was kneeling outside, “Butler Liu, come in!”
“Yes!”
Butler Liu stood up shakily and walked into the room.
“What did the physician say?” asked Chu Yunshen as he turned to look at Butler Liu.
Butler Liu bowed and said weakly, “Your Highness, the doctor said Prince Xuan only suffered from a case of shock.”
Chu Yunshen turned his head to look at Chu Hongyi on the bed. His face was as white as a sheet of paper, and even his lips were slightly pale. Chu Yunshen couldn’t help frowning. “Tell me what happened to him today.”
“Erm… erm…”
Butler Liu trembled. He didn’t know where to start!
Chu Yunshen cast an eye at Butler Liu, so Butler Liu bowed before he said, “Y-your Highness, I assigned a servant to follow His Highness, but he lost His Highness.”
Butler Liu continued to bow and didn’t dare to look up at Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen’s eyes turned dark. He glanced at the heap of dirty, crumpled garments on the side and asked coldly, “Do those belong to Hongyi?”
“Yes, Your Highness!” Butler Liu suddenly recalled that he hadn’t heard the cat meowing for some time when he looked at the pile of garments.
She kept meowing while she was in Prince Jing’s bedroom.
But why did she suddenly go quiet?
Butler Liu looked around the room but failed to find the cat. His chest tightened. Could she have snuck out again?
He almost knelt onto the ground as his legs turned to jelly.
“Your Highness, your cat…” Butler Liu noticed Chu Yunshen staring dead straight at him with his dark eyes when he mentioned the cat, so his voice trembled. “…led us to Hanze Lake where we found His Highness.”
Butler Liu paused and noticed how angry Prince Jing looked, so he hesitated. Since Prince Jing was waiting for him to finish, he could only say cautiously, “His Highness was lying next to the lake dressed only in his white inner robe.”
“Was the cat there too?”
Chu Yunshen glanced at Butler Liu.
“Yes, Your Highness!” The cat was still here a moment ago. Where has she gone now? Butler Liu raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his brow. He noticed Chu Yunshen frowning, so he changed the subject. “When we got there, His Highness’ clothing was wet, so I think he probably went into Hanze Lake…”
Butler Liu felt that this was going to be the end of his career as a butler when he saw the look on Prince Jing’s face.
Chu Yunshen kept standing by the bed and looking at Chu Hongyi without uttering a word after Butler Liu finished his sentence.
Intense energy radiated from Chu Yunshen.
It was so strong that Butler Liu was almost incapable of breathing.
Chu Yunshen took the teacup from the maid and had a sip of tea before he looked at Chu Hongyi on the bed.
What made Chu Hongyi faint from shock?
Why did Chu Hongyi jump into Hanze Lake?
Chu Hongyi was certainly mischievous by nature, but he wouldn’t have done something like that in Prince Jing’s residence. Ever since Chu Hongyi was given his title, his mother kept teaching him how to behave.
Running out of the palace to come to Prince Jing’s residence was already the most outrageous thing he was capable of doing.
If Chu Hongyi’s mother caught wind that he had jumped into Hanze Lake, she would probably punish him by making him kneel in the Buddhist shrine for god knew how long.
Since Chu Yunshen was keenly aware that Chu Hongyi hated kneeling at the shrine, Chu Hongyi wouldn’t have jumped into the lake on his own.
What if someone pushed Chu Hongyi into the lake?
Warm tea went down Chu Yunshen’s throat as he held his teacup and took a sip.
He frowned even harder.
Although Chu Hongyi wasn’t that highly skilled in martial arts, an average man would be incapable of doing anything to Chu Hongyi without drawing the residence guards’ attention!
Chu Yunshen frowned even harder as he contemplated. Everything that happened today sounded odd.
“Your Highness.”
Mu Bai’s voice suddenly came from the side.
Chu Yunshen veered his eyes away from the tea. He looked at Mu Bai and nodded slightly.
Mu Bai bowed to Chu Yunshen before he looked at Chu Yunshen deeply and said, “His Highness passed out because he was exhausted and experienced a huge shock.”
Mu Bai glanced at the ghastly pale Chu Hongyi and turned to continue, “Your Highness, it looks like he suffered a very bad scare.”
“Huh? Did he pass out from shock?”
Xiaowu turned to look at Chu Hongyi. “How could there be anything as scary as that in their residence?”
How could Prince Xuan have passed out from a shock?
Xiaowu turned to look at Butler Liu. “Right?”
“Erm…erm…” muttered Butler Liu, who didn’t know what to say.
He found it odd that no one noticed something happening to Prince Xuan at Hanze Lake!
“Oh no, Butler Liu!”
An anxious servant suddenly came running through the door.
He shouted as he ran, “W-we have visitors!”
Butler Liu was startled by the shouting. He looked at Prince Jing before he pulled the stupid servant by the collar and said, “Do you want to die? Don’t you know where you are? How could you shout?”
The servant looked up to see Prince Jing sitting with his back straight inside the room.
He instantly knelt and apologized, “My bad! My bad!”
Xiaowu walked up to the servant and asked, “Who came?”
“Sir, Nanny Liu from the palace came to the residence and is on her way over!”
The servant kowtowed as he gasped and said, “She’s here to take Prince Xuan back to the palace!”
“What?”
Xiaowu’s face turned pale. Since Nanny Liu was here to pick up Prince Xuan and she was from the palace, she must be imperial consort Su’s nanny.
Xiaowu was so anxious that a layer of sweat gathered on his forehead. He glanced at Chu Hongyi, who was still unconscious in bed before he looked at Chu Yunshen and said worriedly, “Your Highness, what should we do?”
Chu Yunshen’s eyes turned dark as he tightened his grip on the teacup. It seemed imperial consort Su kept a close eye on her son.
“Let’s go to the main hall,” said Chu Yunshen to Xiaowu after putting down his teacup before he glanced at Mu Bai.
Mu Bai instantly knew what Chu Yunshen meant. He bowed to Chu Yunshen and said, “Your Highness, don’t worry. Just leave it to me.”
“Good.”
Chu Yunshen nodded and left with Xiaowu.
In the main hall at Prince Jing’s residence…
The sky was dark. Nanny Liu was charging over to the main hall with a few maids and guards.
Chu Hongyi’s secret guard suddenly came to imperial Su and told her that he had lost Chu Hongyi. By the time he found Chu Hongyi again, he was lying unconscious by the lake at Prince Jing’s residence.
Since many of Prince Jing’s servants were present, he couldn’t show himself due to his special identity, so he returned.
Imperial consort Su instantly sent her to get Little Quan.
Nanny Liu wondered how Chu Hongyi’s injuries were. Despite her worry, she kept her composure.
When they walked up to the steps, she noticed someone who looked like the butler come walking towards her. “Nanny Liu, this way, please.”
“Sure.” Nanny Liu slightly nodded before she told the people behind her coldly, “Wait here.”
“Yes, Nanny Liu!” answered the maids and guards before standing in two rows outside the entrance.
The guard behind Nanny Liu was holding onto a eunuch. Nanny Liu waved her hand and said, “Bring him in.”
Nanny Liu smoothed her hair before following the butler up the steps.
After entering the hall, Nanny Liu bowed to Chu Yunshen sitting on the main seat and said, “Your Highness!”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Chu Yunshen calmly before he gestured for her to rise. “Nanny Liu, what brings you here at this hour of the night?”
Xiaowu stood beside Chu Yunshen as he glanced at the eunuch that the guard behind Nanny Liu was holding.
Wasn’t that Chu Hongyi’s personal eunuch, Little Quan?
It seemed Nanny Liu came prepared today.
Nanny Liu stood up and said, “Your Highness, one moment, please! You will find out soon enough.”
Nanny Liu glanced at the guard behind her. “Bring him over!”
“Yes, Nanny Liu!” The guard pulled the eunuch over to Nanny Liu.
Nanny Liu gestured for him to release Little Quan before she pointed at him and said angrily, “Hurry up and tell His Highness what you know!”
“Yes, Nanny Liu!” Little Quan knelt before Chu Yunshen with a thud.
He looked at Chu Yunshen awkwardly before he said in a meek tone, “His Highness has been sneaking into the residence for a few days in a row to play with your cat. Usually, I send men to wait for His Highness outside the residence, but…”
Little Quan looked at Chu Yunshen furtively to see Chu Yunshen looking at him, so he instantly lowered his head and continued, “But His Highness hasn’t come out of the residence yet today.”
The moment Little Quan finished his sentence, Chu Yunshen looked at him thoughtfully.
Chu Yunshen was always the one who asked the butler to prepare a horse carriage for Chu Hongyi.
The eunuch was only lying in the hope that people would believe him.
Servants who were incapable of staying loyal to their masters only served to cause trouble.
It seemed he had to remind Chu Hongyi to change this servant of his.
Little Quan was startled by Chu Yunshen’s stares. He knelt on the ground as he shivered and said hoarsely, “Nanny Liu, I swear on my life that His Highness is here at Prince Jing’s residence!”
