Chapter 86 Reverting to her original form
The little boy hastily retorted to Cheng Xiaoxiao, “Didn’t you want me to let him off?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was delighted. Did that work?
The little boy raised his hand and wave at the rock over Chu Hongyi’s head, and it instantly landed on the ground with a loud crash!
Chu Hongyi was petrified.
After running for so long Chu Hongyi was brain dead, so he instinctively continued to run nonstop!
He would die if he stopped!
Hence, Chu Hongyi automatically thought that the rock had landed on him when he heard the loud crash.
He felt that he was finally free of this torture and didn’t have to keep running anymore.
Chu Hongyi’s body went limp as he sat on the ground and looked at the rock behind him. He raised his hand and touched the top of his head. Why wasn’t there any blood on his head?
However, he felt so giddy that he was seeing stars.
“Chu Hongyi!”
Who was calling him?
Chu Hongyi saw someone running towards him. Oh, it was the audacious maid wearing his clothes!
How dare she appear before him?
He had to get his father to punish her by executing her clan and punish her by…”
Before Chu Hongyi could finish thinking about all the cruelest punishments that he could mete out on Cheng Xiaoxiao, his mind went blank, and he passed out.
“Chu Hongyi, wake up!”
Chu Hongyi was falling backward when Cheng Xiaoxiao ran over to pull his arm and wanted to pull him off the ground. “Chu Hongyi, you can’t die!”
Chu Hongyi didn’t react even after Cheng Xiaoxiao kept calling for him. She felt anxious in her heart. Was she too late? Did Chu Hongyi really die of exhaustion?
Cheng Xiaoxiao hurriedly placed her fingers on Chu Hongyi’s nose. He really stopped breathing!
Cheng Xiaoxiao froze, and her eyes instantly turned red. “Chu Hongyi…”
She pulled Chu Hongyi’s arm as she stood up and choked, “Chu Hongyi, you can’t die, do you hear me? I’m finding you a doctor!”
“Hey! Stop crying,” said the little boy as he looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao and covered his ears. “He isn’t dead! He only passed out.”
“How can that be? He already stopped breathing.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her hand to wipe her tears before she placed her fingertips at Chu Hongyi’s nose again. This time, he was breathing.
“Huh?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the little boy in shock.
The little boy hovered in front of her and said, “It was just a trick. I wanted to make you think he died!”
“You!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at the little boy.
The little boy didn’t look at Cheng Xiaoxiao. Instead, he glanced at Chu Hongyi and said, “I said I would let him off, but not forever! I will only give him a break today!”
“You!” Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to glare at the little boy behind her with some tears still on her face.
Although the ghost looked like a child, he certainly didn’t think like one. Sure enough, he still had some brains and swift reflexes since he had been around for over a century.
“What about it?” The little boy smiled. “Was I wrong?”
“No, you were right.” Cheng Xiaoxiao stood up. She patted the dirt off herself as she said to the boy behind her, “You are very smart.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly froze as she looked at her hands in disbelief. They were already starting to turn transparent.
Also, some cat fur was starting to grow on her arm from outside her sleeve.
From the looks of it, she could not sustain human form much longer.
“Hmm?” The little boy looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao’s arm and instantly said in shock, “What’s happening to your hand…”
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t be bothered to explain as intense energy pressed down on her. She clutched her chest in pain as she looked at the little boy and said, “Why don’t you go see your parents if you miss them?”
Her heart had started to palpitate so hard that her heart was almost in her mouth.
“I already promised to let him off for now!” The boy glared at Cheng Xiaoxiao and said angrily, “Now will you stop talking about my parents?”
“So you stopped because I talked about your parents?”
She swallowed her pain and clutched at her heart with one hand as she stroked the little boy’s head with the other, “You miss them, right?”
“What’s the point of missing them? It’s not like I can see them!” The little boy tilted his head to dodge Cheng Xiaoxiao’s hand as he said, “I have gotten used to not having them around all these years! Also, Mistress treats me well and gives me lots of good food and toys, so I’m happy to be with her!”
“Stupid boy…”
Before Cheng Xiaoxiao could finish her sentence, she sensed her heart constrict and convulse hard.
She instantly bent over to hug herself tightly as she inhaled deeply and continued, “Are you happy about being used to kill?”
‘W-what’s going on with you?” The little boy frowned a little as she looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao. She seemed to be in agony.
“Answer me first!” Cheng Xiaoxiao huddled on the ground, but she kept staring at the little boy with her contrasting eyes. “Are you really happy being a killer?”
The little boy was probably barely three years old when he died.
He didn’t understand right from wrong at that age.
His parents would be heartbroken to see that he didn’t go for reincarnation after he died and even ended up being used to kill others!
One of the horror movies she had seen in the past was about using ancient dark magic to rear child spirits to hurt others. This was known as raising a little demon!
In the past, she didn’t understand the point of doing so!
Now that she had encountered one, she suddenly realized how easy such ghosts were to control. All his mistress had to do was to tempt him with food, and he would kill for her.
Didn’t the person who created such dark magic have children of their own?
How could they do something so cruel?
“I will do it if that is what Mistress wants!”
The little boy looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao worriedly as she seemed to be on the brink of passing out. “What’s going on? Why are you squatting on the ground? Also, why is hair growing on your arm?”
She was such a strange woman. Considering the state she was in, he didn’t understand how she could still be in the mood to ask him questions.
“I can’t take it anymore!” Cheng Xiaoxiao forcibly smiled as she said, “I’m running out of spirit energy. Why don’t you attack me now?”
She lowered her head and looked at the cat fur multiplying on her arm. It seemed she was about to change back to a cat very soon!
“Are you nuts?” The little boy instantly glared at her as he said, “Why are you asking me to attack you while you are in this condition?”
“But you didn’t do it…” Before Cheng Xiaoxiao finished her sentence, she was suddenly startled. She realized Chu Hongyi had regained consciousness and was looking at her in shock.
He kept staring at her.
What was going on?
Of all the times he could wake up, did it have to be now?
She instantly put her arm away before she forced herself to stand up and run.
She was done for!
She was going to transform into a cat soon!
Oh no!
She had to leave now!
However, Cheng Xiaoxiao’s mind went blank before she even managed to leave.
Everything turned dark when she regained consciousness, and she was covered by thick and damp clothing.
Cheng Xiaoxiao climbed out from under Chu Hongyi’s garments. The moment she reached her head out, she made eye contact with Chu Hongyi as his eyes opened wide in shock.
Before she had the chance to hide back under the clothes, she could hear Chu Hongyi screaming shrilly in shock, “AHHH! A demon!”
After Chu Hongyi finished screaming, he passed out again.
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her paw to cover her ears as he screamed.
Was she that scary?
Did Chu Hongyi have to yell so loudly?
She almost went deaf from his screaming!
But the most important thing now was the fact that Chu Hongyi had found out that she could take the shape of a human!
How was she going to deal with this?
“PFFTT!”
The little boy stood by the side and couldn’t help laughing when he saw a white cat climbing out from under the clothes. “Were you in such pain because you were changing into a cat?”
The boy walked up to Cheng Xiaoxiao and stroked her head through the air just like she did. “You are so cute!”
“Cut it out! I’m so worried now!” Cheng Xiaoxiao tilted her head sideways to dodge the boy’s hand.
She finally realized why the little boy dodged when she stroked his head even though they couldn’t touch each other.
She was now suffering retribution for it!
“Heehee!”
The little boy squatted in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao and continued to stroke through the air and pretended that he didn’t hear her roaring angrily. “This looks fun! Hurry up and change again!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at Chu Hongyi passed out on the ground. She said weakly to the little boy, “Didn’t you say you won’t kill him today? Hurry up and unseal the barrier!”
“Erm… Fine.”
The little boy glanced at Chu Hongyi before he set resentfully, “In any case, he won’t live beyond tomorrow!”
He waved his hand as he chanted, “Deactivate!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao saw the gold shield around Hanze Lake disappear.
She turned to look at Chu Hongyi as he lay on the ground with his face as pale as a sheet of paper.
Never mind. She should find someone to help Chu Hongyi quickly!
“Hang on! Where are you going?”
The little boy hastily floated up to Cheng Xiaoxiao and looked at her as he said, “Don’t leave me here alone!”
Since he failed to kill Chu Hongyi, his mistress would be displeased to see him, so he couldn’t go home today.
Where else could he go?
“I’m going to fetch help.” Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the little boy quizzically.
“Oh, then I will wait here.” The little boy halted in his steps and stopped floating towards Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to run off. When she came back to Hanze Lake with servants, the little ghost was sitting on a rock by the side.
He floated over to Cheng Xiaoxiao when he saw her return with some servants and said deeply from above, “What’s the point of saving him? I’m going to finish him off tomorrow anyway!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at the little boy. She watched as the servants anxiously carried Chu Hongyi to a guest room before she followed behind them.
“Hey! Did you hear me?”
“Are you deaf?”
The little boy floated in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao as he kept saying.
They carried Chu Hongyi straight to a guest room. Shortly after they placed Chu Hongyi on the bed, Butler Liu came running over after hearing the news.
He entered the door as he shouted, “Oh god! What on earth happened? Where is the doctor? Isn’t he here yet?”
“The doctor is on his way. He will be here soon,” replied a servant.
“Oh god! How did His Highness end up like this? Do any of you know what happened?”
