Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 85
Chapter 85 Make a bet
He looked at the jade pendant hanging on the woman’s neck that sucked all the spirit energy he had just attacked Cheng Xiaoxiao with.
“You lost.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the young boy as she smiled calmly.
She reached her hand to touch the jade pendant on her neck as she thought in her heart, “Well done.”
She turned to look at the little boy and said, “Put the rock down now!”
“No, I can’t believe it!”
The little boy yelled and gathered even more spirit energy in his hand before he attacked Cheng Xiaoxiao!
Just as the dark fog was about to reach Cheng Xiaoxiao, she stood where she was and smiled at him motionlessly without a shred of panic on her face.
Humph!
Just wait! He was going to send her flying with a single blow!
The little boy clenched his fists tightly as he contemplated angrily.
He smiled when the dark smoke was about to hit Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Just as his blow was about to strike Cheng Xiaoxiao, her jade pendant shockingly sucked all the spirit energy away.
“How is this possible?” The little boy looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao in disbelief. More dark smoke gathered at his hands as they hung on his sides.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the smoke gathering in his hands and said calmly, “You lost! Put the rock down!”
“I’m not going to do it!”
The little boy immediately shouted as he turned to look at the rock chasing after Chu Hongyi. He waved his hand, and the rock chased after Chu Hongyi even more quickly.
The boy turned to say to Cheng Xiaoxiao furiously, “He dies today!”
“Are you going against your word?”
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao sounded calm when she asked him the question, she was nervous inside
.
If the boy refused to stick to his word and wanted to kill Chu Hongyi, she didn’t know what to do with Chu Hongyi.
Since the little boy had surrounded the place with his spirit energy, they were incapable of leaving. Even if she had the protection of the jade pendant, she could only protect herself with it.
It was hard for her to save Chu Hongyi from the little boy.
“What can you do if I refuse to admit my loss?” The little boy’s cold voice came.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly knew she overestimated the little boy.
He was a ghost after all!
How could she expect him to be honest!
“Nothing, really! I will just look down on you.”
Despite Cheng Xiaoxiao’s powerlessness, she acted nonchalantly. She looked around coldly at the little boy as she glanced around to see if there was anywhere Chu Hongyi could hide.
If making a bet with the little boy failed, she had to devise a new strategy.
Even if Chu Hongyi didn’t get killed by the rock, he would die of exhaustion from running!
She couldn’t let the ghost kill Chu Hongyi.
The little boy suddenly stopped Cheng Xiaoxiao and lowered his head to say indignantly, “Hey! Did you manage to dodge my blow because of this jade pendant?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at him expressionlessly. “I don’t talk to people who can’t keep their word!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to walk towards the rockery she went to often. She recalled a cave inside and felt it might be strong enough for Chu Hongyi to hide before the rock crashed on him.
After making Chu Hongyi hide inside, she would take care of this stupid boy.
She was certain that she could capture the ghost!
“I was ordered to kill him, so I have no choice!” The kid lowered his head like a child who had made a mistake as he twirled the corner of his robe and said, “Now tell me if you survived because of that jade pendant you’re wearing.”
“Then tell me first…” Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to look past the little boy and pointed to Chu Hongyi as he ran past. “Why do you have to kill him?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Hongyi with this face ghastly pale like he was about to pass out and felt furious.
She turned to look at the little boy disappointingly as she said, “I didn’t expect such dishonesty and ruthlessness at such a young age!”
“I’m not like that at all!” retorted the boy hastily.
He looked up with his eyes red as he said indignantly, “I didn’t want him to die such a horrible death. I wanted to drown him, but you ended up saving him, so…”
The boy’s head hung so low that it almost reached his chest as he muttered, “That’s why I ended up trying to make him die of exhaustion.”
“You want to make him die of exhaustion!” Cheng Xiaoxiao looked like she was going to pass out before she said, “How can you say you aren’t ruthless?”
“I’m not ruthless at all. No, I’m not!” The boy raised his head as he waved his hands and told Cheng Xiaoxiao, “I never made anyone else die such an awful death in the past when I was ordered to kill people.”
“Have you killed others before?” Cheng Xiaoxiao frowned as she continued, “Who else have you killed?”
“Some beautiful women,” said the little boy as he looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao and assured her, “I only told them to jump into wells and drown themselves to death.”
“Some women?” Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the little boy with her eyes wide. “How many people have you killed?”
“Quite a few. I lost count.” The little boy glanced at the sky as he recalled. “The important thing is that mistress will burn me a lot of good food as a reward after I’m done.”
The little boy’s eyes immediately lit up as he said enthusiastically, “Also, my mistress is a very pretty woman. She makes offerings to me every night.”
“A pretty woman?”
An ominous feeling suddenly rose in Cheng Xiaoxiao’s heart.
She instantly pretended to take interest and asked the little boy, “Do you know who your mistress is?”
“Nope.” The little boy shook his head as he looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao and continued, “I only know that she lives in a huge, beautiful home with golden pillars carved with gold dragons! Also, she has a lot of people serving her!”
The boy’s eyes lit up proudly as he spoke.
“Oh, really?” replied Cheng Xiaoxiao as she mulled over what the boy had just said.
Did she reside in a huge, bright, beautiful home and had a lot of servants?
Was some consort raising this little ghost in the palace?
But Cheng Xiaoxiao was uncertain who might want Chu Hongyi’s life.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at Hanze Lake. If she weren’t around, Chu Hongyi would have ended up drowning in the lake.
Who would take such a huge risk to kill Chu Hongyi?
If Chu Hongyi died in Chu Yunshen’s home, Chu Yunshen would be held accountable.
The seventh prince, Chu Yelin, and the eighth prince, Chu Jinshuo, were the two other sons whom the emperor liked.
Cheng Xiaoxiao vaguely remembered imperial consort Zhao saying that the empress adopted the seventh prince.
Practicing black magic in the palace was punishable by death.
Would the empress take such a major risk on an adopted son?
Since the eighth prince was imperial consort Zhao’s biological son, she had more to gain from doing this.
Cheng Xiaoxiao swiftly analyzed all the information she knew.
If the 14th prince died in Prince Jing’s residence, the emperor would get even more upset with Chu Yunshen.
Hence, it would kill two birds with one stone from imperial consort Zhao’s perspective.
It was a huge taboo to practice dark magic in the palace.
Was it worthwhile for imperial consort Zhao to take such a risk though?
She was already an imperial consort, and the eighth prince was already the emperor’s favorite.
Would she have any reason to act so rashly?
“How long are you going to keep standing there? Hurry up and find some help!”
Chu Hongyi’s voice suddenly rang from beside her as Cheng Xiaoxiao contemplated deeply.
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to see Chu Hongyi looking at her as he ran.
The huge rock kept following him and even turned in the same direction Chu Hongyi did when he turned to look.
Sigh! She was so busy talking to the ghost that she almost forgot about Chu Hongyi!
If Chu Hongyi was forced to keep running, he might really end up dying!
“Put the rock down!” Cheng Xiaoxiao lost all her patience. She hastily turned to look at the ghost and said anxiously, “Since you lost the bet, you have to face the facts! Don’t force me to despise you for going against your word!”
“But he offended my mistress!” The little boy looked at Chu Hongyi deeply.
He turned to spit his tongue to Cheng Xiaoxiao and said, “Mistress wants him dead, so he must die!”
“I was betting with you and not your mistress!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao walked over to him and towered over him as she said slowly, “We agreed that if you won, I would stay out of it! Since you lost, you must let him go!”
“I don’t care what we agreed on! He must die since that is what Mistress wants!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s stares made the little boy a little uneasy, so he suddenly turned to leave.
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily walked up in front of him and spread her arms out to stop him as she said, “You can’t leave! Put that rock down!”
“I simply won’t!” said the little boy before he made a monkey face at Cheng Xiaoxiao and continued, “Kill me if you can!”
“Put it down!” Cheng Xiaoxiao continued standing there with her arms open in front of the boy as she glared and said, “You liar!”
“So what if I am? What can you do since I am already dead?” The little boy looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao smugly, knowing that she couldn’t do anything about it.
“How could you do such awful things at such a young age?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly felt so angry that she raised her hand and slapped the ghost on his head. “I am going to help your parents teach you a lesson!”
Although her hand passed right through the little boy’s head, he was intimidated by it.
“Stop talking about my parents!” shouted the little boy suddenly with his eyes slightly red.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was startled by his shouting.
Why did he react so strongly when she brought up his parents?
Perhaps she could use this against him and make him change his mind about letting go Chu Hongyi?
Whatever it was, she had to give it a shot!
“You have stayed in the mortal realm for so long.” Cheng Xiaoxiao deeply inhaled as she did her utmost to sound calm.
She raised her hand and patted the little boy’s shoulder through the air as she said thoughtfully, “Don’t you miss your parents?”
“Stop it…” The little boy raised his head and glared at Cheng Xiaoxiao angrily as though she had just stepped on a cat’s tail.
He shouted, “Stop talking about my parents!”
“Why do you want me to stop talking about them?” Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the boy and said coldly, “Are you saying that you have no parents and was born from a rock?”
“No, I didn’t!” The little boy yelled at Cheng Xiaoxiao before he came lunging at her.
Before Cheng Xiaoxiao managed to dodge him, the little boy went right through her.
The little boy left her so cold that she couldn’t help shivering. She turned to look at the little boy with her arms crossed as she said, “Then why don’t you miss your parents? I miss mine every single day!”
“Who says I don’t miss them?”
