Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 79
Chapter 79 Scratching Chu Hongyi
The maid bowed. Just as she was about to pick up the spoon to scoop some soup for Cheng Xiaoxiao, Chu Hongyi took it and waved as he said, “You can leave. I will feed her.”
“Erm…”
The maid turned to look at Butler Liu.
Butler Liu nodded.
She handed the spoon to Chu Hongyi.
“Meow!”
No way!
She didn’t want him to feed her!
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed at the maid, but she had already stepped back and hung her head without looking.
“Here you go.”
Chu Hongyi placed a bowl filled with fish soup and flesh in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at Chu Hongyi in disdain. She could tell that he was an entitled youth who had never taken care of anyone before.
How could she eat this?
“Go on.” Chu Hongyi patted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head and pushed the bowl closer to her.
The scent of the fish soup wafted over. Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at him before reaching her head over and lowered it to lick the soup.
In comparison, even though they were both princes, Chu Yunshen was far more thoughtful than Chu Hongyi, who had never done any chores in his life.
Chu Yunshen always deboned the fish for her.
But what about Chu Hongyi?
He placed all the fish into the bowl without doing anything about the bones before he placed it in front of her.
However, it was better than having no food at all.
Cheng Xiaoxiao bit some fish cautiously. After a few bites, she was shocked to discover how strong her teeth were.
She was able to chew all the bones to mush in a few bites.
That was quite a surprise…
So she didn’t even need to worry about removing bones when she ate fish.
Before long, Cheng Xiaoxiao wiped out all the fish soup in the bowl along with the bones.
When Chu Hongyi noticed the cat had its fill, he glanced at Butler Liu. He stroked her every now and then as she sat in his arms and asked, “Are you full?”
“Meow!”
Who said he was allowed to touch her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao removed her head from his hands and glared at him.
If she wasn’t in his clutches, she would have run off the moment she finished the soup.
“You are so cold-hearted. You clean forgot how well I treat you after you were done eating.”
Chu Hongyi patted her head as he chuckled and spoke.
“Your Highness, are you full?” asked Butler Liu hurriedly after he stepped forward.
Chu Hongyi stood up with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms to nod and say, “Uh huh. It’s time for me to go back to the palace.”
“Your Highness.” Butler Liu looked at the cat in Chu Hongyi’s arms and said cautiously, “What about His Highness’ cat…”
“I will return her after I board the horse carriage.” Chu Hongyi kept walking with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms without stopping.
“But…” Butler Liu chased after him worriedly.
Chu Hongyi swiftly halted and turned to look at Butler Liu coldly as he said, “Don’t you trust me?”
“Of course, I do!” replied Butler Liu instantly as he bowed to Chu Hongyi.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t dare think otherwise,” sneered Chu Hongyi before glancing at the cat in his arms. She was looking around and happened to make eye contact with him.
When his dark eyes made eye contact with her contrasting eyes, his heart palpitated unexpectedly.
The cat’s eyes were beautiful, and she looked adorable!
He instantly reached his hand out and rubbed her furry little head.
No wonder Chu Yunshen adored the cat.
Everyone would want to touch her when they made eye contact with the cat.
Chu Hongyi carried Cheng Xiaoxiao as he headed out of the residence. Even though Butler Liu followed behind Chu Hongyi, he kept his eyes on the cat at all times.
Butler Liu raised his arm to wipe the sweat off his brow. Prince Xuan had better hold on tightly to the cat. If he loosened his grip and let the cat loose, how was he going to answer to Prince Jing?
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked around at the guards behind them as she sat in Chu Hongyi’s arms.
There was a row of eight guards each on both flanks and Butler Liu and four servants.
She could take the opportunity to run when Chu Hongyi handed her to Butler Liu. But what were her chances of escaping?
“Little fellow, why are you looking around?”
Chu Hongyi glanced in the same direction as Cheng Xiaoxiao and realized she was looking at the guards. “Are they better looking than me?”
He covered Cheng Xiaoxiao’s eyes as he spoke and didn’t let her look at them.
“Meow!”
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was hatching her escape route, everything suddenly went dark. She instinctively scratched the object that was blocking her sight.
“Ow!”
Chu Hongyi looked at the red scratch on the back of his hand as he moaned deeply. He sounded resentful as he spoke, “Well done. How could you scratch me because I didn’t let you look at them, little fellow?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao went dumbstruck when she spotted the scratch she gave Chu Hongyi on the back of his hand. She stared fixedly at Chu Hongyi’s hand as she wailed in her heart.
Oh no! What did she just do?
Why did she scratch him?
She had always been careful and tolerated Chu Hongyi regardless of how annoying he was.
What should she do now?
Cheng Xiaoxiao struggled to wrest herself free from Chu Hongyi. She had to run before it was too late!
Instead, Chu Hongyi pressed Cheng Xiaoxiao down in his arms hard. He deliberately stared at her viciously as he sulked slightly.
“Humph!” sneered Chu Hongyi coldly before he started talking.
“Your Highness!” interrupted Butler Liu anxiously.
The moment he caught sight of the scene, he went speechless from shock.
How on earth could the cat scratch Prince Xuan?
She was in big trouble now!
If Prince Xuan did anything to her in a fit of anger…
He caught Prince Xuan staring angrily in fury, so he anxiously said, “How dare the cat scratch Your Highness?”
He glanced at the servants behind him as he spoke, “Men! Grab the audacious cat and bring her home to await His Highness’ punishment!”
Chu Hongyi glared at him with his dark eyes swiftly.
Butler Liu was so scared that he trembled.
Even though the bold cat made a mistake, she was Prince Jing’s pet after all, so Butler Liu did his utmost to save her.
He mustered his courage and bowed as he apologized to Chu Hongyi, “Your Highness, I will send for the physician this instant to check your injury.”
He raised his head and looked at the scratch on the back of Chu Hongyi’s hand and said angrily, “I will report the matter to His Highness when he returns and makes sure he punishes the cat severely!”
Butler Liu reminded Chu Hongyi twice.
Since the cat was Prince Jing’s pet, Butler Liu hoped Prince Xuan could let her off on account of Prince Jing.
“Step back.” Chu Hongyi raised his hand and blocked the servant who wanted to take Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then he said to Butler Liu calmly, “I won’t take what she has done to heart.”
Chu Hongyi lifted the white cat by her front paws. He watched as she struggled nonstop with terror in her contrasting eyes. She lifted her to his eye level. “Why are you so scared? Do you think I will eat you or something?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily stopped struggling. She raised her head and looked into Chu Hongyi’s smiley eyes.
Was he not angry?
Was he not going to skin her alive?
She had just scratched him after all!
“Thank you, Your Highness.” Butler Liu felt relieved. He hurriedly bowed as he apologized, “Since she just scratched you, why don’t you hand her to me first.”
“It’s fine. I think it’s best if I explain things to Brother Yunshen personally,” said Chu Hongyi as he boarded the horse carriage with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms.
Cheng Xiaoxiao contemplated what Chu Hongyi meant as she struggled in his arms.
Didn’t Chu Hongyi say he didn’t take the scratch to heart?
But why did Chu Hongyi sound like he was going to tell Chu Yunshen about it personally so that he could punish her?
This liar!
“That won’t do…” Butler Liu hurriedly walked over and stopped Chu Hongyi.
“Why not?”
Chu Hongyi walked around Butler Liu to board the carriage as he held Cheng Xiaoxiao while she struggled.
He looked at Butler Liu deeply. “Didn’t you just say you wanted to wait for Brother Yunshen to come home and punish the cat?”
A flash of anger flashed across Chu Hongyi’s eyes, and his voice went cold. “Or were you just patronizing me?”
“Certainly not, Your Highness.” Butler Liu lowered his head and bowed even deeper.
“Then get out of my way!” said Chu Hongyi coldly as he glanced at the butler, “I’m going to visit Brother Yunshen at the justice department with the cat.”
“Your Highness, pardon me. Since the cat belongs to the residence, no one is allowed to take her out of the residence without His Highness’ authorization.”
Butler Liu was beside himself with anxiety. He stopped in front of the horse carriage and looked inside worriedly as he sent a servant to go to the justice department and tell Prince Jing about this.
He had already fallen for Prince Xuan’s ruse once. God knew where he wanted to take the cat this time?
Just what if he wanted to try anything funny?
He had nothing but a single head to offer if Prince Jing wanted to punish him.
At the thought, he bowed at Chu Hongyi and said, “I have already sent a servant to ask His Highness to return. Please wait a moment.”
“You!” Chu Hongyi’s grip on Cheng Xiaoxiao tightened. Why didn’t Butler Liu fall for his tricks this time?
He wanted to bring the cat back to the palace, play with her for a few days and cultivate their relationship.
What if the cat liked being in the palace?
If he became closer with the cat, his fourth older brother might be closer to him on account of the cat.
However, he looked up to see Butler Liu standing outside the horse carriage. He couldn’t tell his driver to go with Brother Yunshen’s loyal servant standing in front of the carriage.
The sound of horse hoofs came from a distance while he was placed in a spot.
After he detected who the rider was, his face went pale as he tightened his grip on the cat.
Did his fourth older brother make it back so quickly?
Chu Yunshen got off the horse and handed it to a servant outside the residence before he walked over to Chu Hongyi’s horse carriage.
Butler Liu immediately walked over when he caught sight of Chu Yunshen.
“Your Highness.”
Chu Hongyi lowered his head with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms as he contemplated what to say to his fourth older brother.
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard Chu Yunshen was back, she buried her head in Chu Hongyi’s embrace.
She was dead meat!
What should she do if Chu Hongyi told Chu Yunshen that she scratched him? What if Chu Yunshen punished her for it?
Perhaps she should show some goodwill to Chu Hongyi and beg him not to complain to Chu Yunshen?
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head and noticed that Chu Hongyi’s forehead was now sweaty. Hmm?
Why the expression?
He looked even more afraid of Chu Yunshen than she was!
“Brother Yunshen!”
