Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 77
Chapter 77 You stink
The moment she licked the soup, she was scalded!
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly shrank her head back as she stuck her tongue out and fanned it with her paw!
“Was it too hot?”
Chu Yunshen immediately put down the fish soup and lowered his head to check Cheng Xiaoxiao’s tongue. He found that her tongue was only somewhat swollen and wasn’t too seriously burnt.
He picked up her bowl of fish soup, placed it by his lips, and blew on it.
Xiaowu was so shocked that his eyes nearly popped from their sockets.
Was the prince helping the cat to cool her soup?
How could the cat deserve such attention?
How could the prince do that for her?
Just as Xiaowu sighed sadly, he suddenly caught a cold look from the prince before he glanced at the door.
Xiaowu instantly caught the prince’s drift and knew he was getting in the prince’s way.
“Master, allow me to take my leave.” Xiaowu bowed to Chu Yunshen.
Xiaowu glanced into the room when he walked out and turned to close the door. He saw a tender look in Prince Jing’s eyes as he cooled the fish soup.
The moment the door closed, he saw the prince placing the bowl next to the cat again. A deep voice could be heard through the door.
“It’s not hot anymore. You can drink it now.”
The prince was so good to the cat…
Hold on!
What on earth was he thinking about?
How could Prince Jing harbor such thoughts about a cat?
If he didn’t witness the scene in the room and heard only Prince Jing’s words, his imagination would certainly run wild!
Xiaowu couldn’t help shaking his head. He immediately took off and ran all the way to a well in a backyard.
He bent over and drew a pail of water and dipped his face into it. Moments later, he raised his head. “PFFTT!”
After spitting some water, he wiped his face, exhaled, and said, “I finally feel calm!”
What was he thinking? Prince Jing merely liked the cat as a pet.
“Xiaowu, is it that hot?”
Mu Bai’s voice suddenly came from the pavilion beside the well.
Xiaowu turned his head and looked at Mu Bai as he sat in the pavilion and waved a fan while he drank tea. “It’s only April, but you have started using your fan.”
“It’s not that.” Mu Bai raised his hand and pointed to the side. “I’m drying Chinese herbs.”
“Drying herbs? But isn’t it already sundown?” Xiaowu glanced at the sky and noticed it was evening time.
“I’m actually almost done sunning them, so I’m getting ready to pack up.” Mu Bai glanced at the pavilion.
Xiaowu looked in the direction Mu Bai was looking. There were several baskets placed under the pavilion filled with Chinese herbs.
However, Mu Bai was very far away from his quarters!
Why did he come all the way here to sun the herbs?
He asked Mu Bai as he contemplated, “Dr Mu, why didn’t you dry them in your quarters? Why did you have to come to such a secluded place to do it?”
At the drop of his voice before Mu Bai managed to answer Xiaowu, a gust of wind swept by, and the smell of chicken shit swiftly besieged Xiaowu’s olfactory senses.
“Ewww!” Xiaowu suppressed his discomfort and used his hand to fan his face as he turned to ask Mu Bai, “Did you go to the chicken coop earlier?”
Xiaowu lowered his head and checked Mu Bai’s feet. “Did you step on something? Why is it that I can smell such a strong smell of chicken shit?”
Mu Bai fanned himself as he smiled at Xiaowu. “It’s coming from the chicken shit vine.”
“Oh, I see!” Xiaowu instantly realized why Mu Bai didn’t dry the herbs in his quarters and was standing here with a fan.
“Dr Mu.”
Xiaowu walked up to the pavilion and looked at the light green things resembling rattan canes in the baskets and asked, “What Chinese herb is this? Why does it stink to the sky?”
“It’s chicken shit vine.” Mu Bai fanned himself as he picked up a teacup and took a sip before he continued, “It might not smell like much, but it has a lot of medicinal uses. It can be used internally to expel wind, suppress cough and treat stomachaches. Also, it can be applied externally for purging poison, reduce swelling and bruises.”
“Oh, I see.”
After Mu Bai explained its uses, Xiaowu suddenly found its stench slightly more bearable.
Mu Bai held the fan at his chest and turned to look at Xiaowu with a look of concern. “Why did you put your face inside such cold well water? Are your kidneys suffering from Yin deficiency? Why don’t I write you a prescription and help fix it?”
“No, I don’t have any deficiency!” Xiaowu instantly shook his head like a rattle as he waved his hand nonstop. “I’m perfectly fine.”
He hastily lay prone on the ground and did 100 push-ups in a row.
He pushed to bounce himself off the ground and stand upright. “Do I look like I have any deficiencies at all to you?”
Xiaowu wiped the sweat from his brow with his sleeve as he looked at Mu Bai and said solemnly, “I can easily do 100 more.”
Such deficiencies were men’s worst nightmare.
Hence, Mu Bai couldn’t go around saying such things about Xiaowu.
Mu Bai fanned himself as he said teased, “Xiaowu, you shouldn’t hide your sickness out of embarrassment and don’t seek treatment. It’s wiser to seek treatment as soon as possible.”
“Humph!”
Xiaowu instantly realized Mu Bai had mocked him.
He instantly turned to hurry back to Chu Yunshen’s bedroom. Since Prince Jing ought to be done with eating, he should wait outside the door.
Xiaowu glanced at Mu Bai as he stood at the pavilion. He couldn’t let Mu Bai get away with teasing him.
Hence, Xiaowu reached his hand out, grabbed a bunch of chicken shit vine, and stuffed it into his robe.
Mu Bai wasn’t the only person capable of mockery. Xiaowu wasn’t half bad himself.
Just you wait, Mu Bai.
“Xiaowu, if you need me to examine you, don’t be shy.”
Even though Xiaowu had already gone far, he could still catch Mu Bai making fun of him.
Xiaowu clenched his fists angrily as he headed for Chu Yunshen’s room.
He contemplated as he walked. Since Mu Bai was always treating patients, why didn’t it cross his mind to treat that venomous mouth of his?
Xiaowu saw the maids clearing the bowls and cutlery when he returned to Chu Yunshen’s room. Hence, he went in immediately to see if Chu Yunshen needed anything.
After he went in, Chu Yunshen asked as he sat at the study table, “Where did you go?”
Xiaowu instantly bowed and explained, “I went to the backyard.”
He deliberately tugged his damp robe as he spoke.
Chu Yunshen caught sight of Xiaowu’s damp robes and the faint stench reeking in the air and couldn’t help frowning as he asked, “Did you get into a fight with the chickens?”
“…”
Yeah!
Prince Jing smelled the stink.
Xiaowu instantly put on an innocent look and replied, “No, I didn’t Your Highness! I was…”
But it wasn’t like Xiaowu could tell Chu Yunshen the truth about him going to the backyard.
First, Xiaowu paused as he glanced at Chu Yunshen.
Then he glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao as she slept deeply in Chu Yunshen’s arms and scratched his head as he said, “I was checking the residence’s perimeters to see if anything had to be done about our security. It’s dangerous if anyone could come and go as they pleased.”
Xiaowu glanced at Chu Yunshen as he spoke.
Chu Yunshen nodded. He knew Xiaowu was talking about how Prince Xuan came into the residence by climbing over the walls today.
However, this faint odor in the air…
Chu Yunshen leaned into the chair backrest and spotted something bulging inside Xiaowu’s robes at his chest.
The smell was coming from there. Chu Yunshen’s frowned and asked, “What’s under your robes?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao twitched her white whiskers while she was sleeping. What was this god-awful smell?
It was so bad that it disturbed her in her sleep.
She swiftly opened her eyes and took a whiff before looking at Xiaowu.
“Meow!”
What had Xiaowu done?
Did he fall into the latrine?
Why was he so smelly?
Xiaowu was delighted. Prince Jing finally asked the million-dollar question.
Hence, Xiaowu acted as though he suddenly recollected something as he retrieved the chicken shit vine from under his robes and said, “Master, this is chicken shit vine. Dr Mu said it was good for bruises and relieving pain.”
Xiaowu showed Chu Yunshen the chicken shit vine in his hands. “But it smells pretty bad.”
In an instant, the smell of chicken shit wafted in the room.
“…” Chu Yunshen narrowed his dark eyes.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily buried her face in Chu Yunshen’s chest.
It smelled dreadful!
Xiaowu hurriedly put the chicken shit vine back under his robes, and the stench instantly lightened up a lot.
Xiaowu bowed to Chu Yunshen and said, “Master, I saw Mu Bai drying chicken shit vine in the backyard when I was checking the perimeter.”
He looked up to check Chu Yunshen’s expression. Chu Yunshen’s face was cold, but he didn’t say a word.
So Xiaowu continued, “Master, if you don’t stop Dr Mu, the residence will be engulfed in the smell of chicken shit.
“Tell Mu Bai to come over!”
Chu Yunshen touched Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head as he spoke calmly.
What was Mu Bai up to?
Since there were plenty of other Chinese herbs with similar medicinal properties as chicken shit vine, why did Mu Bai have to insist on sunning them in the backyard?
“Yes, Master.” Xiaowu acted calm while he burst out laughing at the seams inside.
The prince’s calm voice suddenly came from behind when Xiaowu got to the door. “Change your clothes before coming back.”
“Yes, Master!”
Xiaowu bowed to Chu Yunshen and closed the door as Chu Yunshen stared at him.
Before long, Xiaowu brought Mu Bai to Chu Yunshen’s room.
Chu Yunshen was playing with the sulky cat in his arms.
Xiaowu and Mu Bai’s voices came from outside.
“Xiaowu, what’s wrong with His Highness? Or is his cat unwell?” asked Mu Bai as he carried his medical kit with one hand and straightened out his white headdress with the other.
“Dr Mu, you’ll know after you go in.” Xiaowu glanced at the tightly shut doors and laughed sinisterly in his heart.
Mu Bai wasn’t stupid, so he could detect how smug Xiaowu seemed.
He looked at Xiaowu and noticed he had gotten changed. Also, Xiaowu stole some chicken shit vine at the pavilion.
Xiaowu thought Mu Bai didn’t notice him doing it. In fact, Mu Bai couldn’t be bothered to say anything.
Shortly after, Xiaowu came to say Prince Jing wanted to see him but didn’t tell him what for.
Mu Bai raised his brow as he contemplated. He pursed his lips into a smile as he said, “Are you still harboring a grudge because I said your kidneys’ were suffering from deficiency? Is that why you told His Highness…”
The moment Xiaowu heard Mu Bai talking about kidney problems, he hastily turned to glare at him as he knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
Chu Yunshen’s cold voice came from inside.
Xiaowu and Mu Bai went in together.
“Your Highness.”
Mu Bai put down his medical kit and paid respects to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen waved his hand and said indifferently, “You may rise.”
“Thank you, Your Highness,” said Mu Bai as he picked up his medical kit and walked up to Chu Yunshen, “Your Highness, what ails you?”
Chu Yunshen glanced at Xiaowu before looking at Mu Bai and instantly had an inkling of what happened.
He said to Xiaowu, “20 paddles from the punishment officer.”
“Huh? No, Master!” shouted Xiaowu swiftly.
“Do you think it’s too little?” sneered Chu Yunshen coldly, “Then 20 more paddles for you.”
“Please spare me, Your Highness!”
Xiaowu hurriedly bowed and begged Chu Yunshen for mercy,” I will go to the punishment officer now.”
