Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 76
Chapter 76 Cats needed coaxing
Chu Hongyi wanted to chase after Chu Yunshen. However, Xiaowu stopped in front of Chu Hongyi and said reverently, “Your Highness, please leave.”
“I- I-I haven’t explained things to Brother Yunshen yet.”
A layer of sweat had already gathered on Chu Hongyi’s forehead. He was so anxious that he wanted to push Xiaowu aside and enter Chu Yunshen’s room.
Xiaowu hurriedly turned sideways to avoid Chu Hongyi’s hands. He cupped one hand in the other as he bowed. “His Highness isn’t angry with you. But the cat probably got a shock, so you should leave His Highness to calm her down. I suggest you swing by another day to explain things to him.”
“But…”
“Your Highness, please don’t put me in a spot.” Although Xiaowu sounded respectful, he kept standing in front of Chu Hongyi to stop him from entering.
“Fine.”
Chu Hongyi glanced at Chu Yunshen’s closed bedroom doors before he slumped his shoulders and headed out the residence.
“Farewell, Your Highness.”
Xiaowu walked Chu Hongyi out of the residence to a horse carriage and bowed. He immediately went back into the residence after the horse carriage had gone afar and headed to Chu Yunshen’s room.
“Clean the rats up.”
Xiaowu immediately ordered the servants to remove the cage with rats when he reached Chu Yunshen’s bedroom entrance.
“Yes, Sir!”
Xiaowu walked up the steps and gently knocked when he arrived outside Chu Yunshen’s room.
“Come in.”
Chu Yunshen’s cold voice came from inside the room.
“Master.”
Xiaowu saw Chu Yunshen giving the cat water when he walked in. He reported softly, “I have sent His Highness off.”
“Uh huh,” replied Chu Yunshen nonchalantly before he placed the porcelain bowl in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao. “Drink a little more.”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head and moved her head back. She had already drunk a lot of water, okay?
Her tummy was already so full that it was bulging.
Cheng Xiaoxiao calmed down now that she had averted this rat crisis.
Chu Hongyi didn’t go all out earlier. Since he could tell she was afraid of rats, he only kept swaying a rat before her without placing it too close.
The moment she caught sight of Chu Yunshen’s face, she recalled how he punished her last night.
She immediately felt angry.
“Sorry for coming back late.”
Chu Yunshen could tell Cheng Xiaoxiao was angry with him when she turned her head to the side. However, he misunderstood and thought she was angry that he didn’t come back in time.
“Be good,” said Chu Yunshen as he stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head and placed the porcelain bowl by her mouth. “Drink a little more.”
“Meow!”
No!
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned her head away again. Humph! She didn’t want to drink any water the pig offered!
Chu Yunshen placed the bowl in front of her several times, but Cheng Xiaoxiao kept turning her head to avoid it.
He sighed and put down the bowl before leaning into his chair. He stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s back as he rubbed his throbbing temples. “Send for Butler Liu.”
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu immediately before turning to leave.
Before long, Xiaowu returned with Butler Liu.
“Your Highness.” Butler Liu bowed and greeted Chu Yunshen.
“What time did Prince Xuan enter the residence.” Even though Chu Yunshen was stroking Cheng Xiaoxiao’s back with his head lowered, he was asking Butler Liu.
“Your Highness, Prince Xuan climbed over the wall on the South side of the residence shortly after you left,” replied Butler Liu reverently.
“Why didn’t you inform His Highness?” Xiaowu glanced at Butler Liu. The older Butler Liu was, the more careless he became.
Prince Xuan spent half the day hanging around Prince Jing’s residence, but Butler Liu did nothing about it.
“Didn’t you tell him to wait in the residence?” asked Butler Liu quizzically.
The moment he saw Chu Yunshen’s eyes, he instantly realized his mistake and slapped his head as he continued, “Sigh! I was fooled! He said Your Highness was the one who asked him to stay in the residence and wait.”
“How could you have done that?” sighed Xiaowu as he pointed at Butler Liu.
“Your Highness, I was careless,” apologized Butler Liu for the error of his ways hurriedly.
Chu Yunshen picked up the teacup on the table and took a sip. He looked at Butler Liu and asked, “What was he up to?”
“He played with the cat.” Butler Liu glanced at the cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms and continued, “I think he also made a trip to the kitchen.”
“That’s all?” asked Xiaowu in disbelief, “It’s not easy for Prince Xuan to sneak out of the palace. Is that really all he did?”
“Yes,” replied Butler Liu as he bowed.
Chu Yunshen raised his hand and interrupted, “You may leave.”
“Yes, Your Highness!” replied Butler Liu as he bowed to Chu Yunshen, “Allow me to take my leave.”
“Master!” After Butler Liu left, Xiaowu turned to look at Chu Yunshen and asked, “Do you think Prince Xuan…”
Since Prince Xuan was imperial consort Su’s son, how could he merely play with the cat while he was in Prince Jing’s residence?
“No, he wouldn’t.”
Chu Yunshen leaned into the chair backrest as he stroked the cat’s head and glanced at Xiaowu. “Get the kitchen to send food.”
He touched the cat’s belly as he spoke.
“Yes, Master! I’m on it.”
Xiaowu turned to leave and send for food.
“Hang on!” When he got to the door and was about to leave, Chu Yunshen’s cold voice came from behind. “Get the kitchen to prepare a bowl of carp soup.”
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu before he walked out and turned to shut the door.
The moment Chu Yunshen touched Cheng Xiaoxiao’s belly, she exploded angrily!
She hastily arched her back, flashed her claws, and hissed furiously after Xiaowu closed the door.
“Can’t I even touch you?” Chu Yunshen stroked her back again as he contemplated how Chu Hongyi had been holding the cat all day.
Chu Yunshen moved his hand up to Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head to rub her hard as he spoke.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly exploded.
“Meow!”
What was he doing?
“What?”
Despite Chu Yunshen’s anger and the fury in his eyes, the moment he recalled how Chu Hongyi had terrorized the cat today, he couldn’t help coaxing her, “Fine.”
Chu Yunshen touched Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head. “I won’t touch you, okay?”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed loudly.
He said he wouldn’t touch her, but what was his hand doing on her head?
She moved her head away from Chu Yunshen’s grasp as she glared at him angrily with her contrasting eyes and kept meowing.
She certainly didn’t want to reconcile with a pig like Chu Yunshen!
Did he want to play nice now?
Did he clean forget how mean he was when he punished her yesterday?
But she hadn’t forgotten it!
Also, she wanted to leave the residence and transform into a human to eat buns!
However, Chu Hongyi turned up and ruined it for her!
Men were all equally troublesome!
It was already a bother to have one man, but now she had two to deal with!
Cheng Xiaoxiao could only place her hope in tomorrow!
She hoped she could sneak out of the residence successfully, transform into a human and have her fill of buns.
At the thought of those buns, Cheng Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes happily.
“What’s on your mind?” Chu Yunshen raised his hand and rubbed the little fellow’s head as she sat in his arms. The cat was so strange today. What was with these mood swings?
He was no longer able to see through her these days. What on was she thinking about?
“Meow!”
Didn’t he say he wouldn’t touch her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao moved her head away and wanted to jump out of Chu Yunshen’s embrace.
Chu Yunshen held Cheng Xiaoxiao tightly in his arms. His eyes went overcast as he said somewhat angrily, “You’ve already run around all day. Are you still going to run off now?”
“Meow!”
Yeah!
Did Chu Yunshen have a problem?
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared straight into Chu Yunshen’s eyes.
The two of them kept staring at each other until someone knocked on the door.
“Master, the food is here.”
Chu Yunshen looked up at the door and said, “Come in.”
The door creaked open, and Xiaowu led some maids in with the food.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the fish soup closest to her with her eyes almost glinting. The fish soup was far better than milk paste. Not only was the soup delicious, but the fish also tasted good too.
Since Chu Hongyi had chased her all day and traumatized her with live rats, she was already famished.
But she was distracted and didn’t feel hungry when she was throwing a temper at Chu Yunshen.
At the sight of the fish soup, her stomach instantly started growling!
Chu Yunshen smiled slightly as the maids set the food and cutlery down.
He touched Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head with one hand while he picked up a porcelain spoon with another and scooped the fish soup into her usual bowl.
Cheng Xiaoxiao curled up in his arms and followed Chu Yunshen’s spoon back and forth.
Xiaowu looked at the cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms as her eyes glinted greedily at the sight of food. He couldn’t help smiling as he said, “Master, I realized the cat adores fish soup.”
“Uh huh,” replied Chu Yunshen calmly as he glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms.
The sulky cat was now curling up obediently in his arms.
She didn’t move a muscle and kept staring at this porcelain spoon.
“Shall I get the kitchen to prepare fish soup in the day as well?” suggested Xiaowu as he glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao.
This time, his ingratiation must have worked, right?
Instead, Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at him expressionlessly. He couldn’t tell whether she was happy or otherwise.
Then she turned to stare fixedly at Chu Yunshen’s spoon.
Xiaowu pursed his lips. Even that didn’t work.
She clearly liked the fish soup so much that her eyes gleamed when she saw it.
Xiaowu glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao and quickly came up with a new idea. He leaned closer to Chu Yunshen’s ear and said, “Master, since she likes cooked fish so much, she must like raw fish too, right? It’s in the nature of cats to like fish.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head and glared hard at Xiaowu as she waved her claws.
Xiaowu must be tired of living and needed a good scratch from her!
Xiaowu was instantly frightened when he caught sight of Cheng Xiaoxiao staring at him and
angrily brandishing her claws, so he took his suggestion back, “I think fish soup is better.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao pulled her claws back and continued staring at Chu Yunshen’s spoon.
Chu Yunshen had filled the bowl with fish soup and placed the bowl next to Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“Drink up.”
Chu Yunshen’s deep laughter came from overhead.
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to show some backbone and refuse the food, would anyone say no to food?
If anyone did, it certainly wasn’t her!
With irresistible delicacy sitting before her, everything else played second fiddle.
Someone once told her hunger was the source of all conflict in the world.
She wanted to raise both her front paws in absolute agreement.
So…
She shamelessly lowered her head and started drinking the delicious fish soup in front of her as its sweet scent floated towards her.
“Meow!”
It was hot!
