Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 75
Chapter 75 The law of catnip
Cheng Xiaoxiao had lost all reason. She couldn’t tell whether she was a human or cat. The only thing on her mind was the catnip!
No one was to stop her!
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept struggling in Chu Hongyi’s arms. Then she hastily escaped when she caught him off guard!
She swayed as she walked over. Just as she was about to lay her paws on the catnip, someone grabbed her by the waist and lifted her into mid-air.
“Meow!”
Let her go!
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to scratch Chu Hongyi’s arm.
Chu Hongyi shrank his arm as he pulled Cheng Xiaoxiao by the nape with his other hand and lifted her before his eyes. “Little fellow! How could you scratch me?”
“Meow!”
She wanted to eat catnip!
Cheng Xiaoxiao stared fixedly at the catnip on the ground as she kept reaching for it in the air.
“It’s dirty!” Chu Hongyi raised his hand and patted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head gently. Then he took out another piece of catnip and placed it next to her mouth. “You should’ve told me you wanted this. See, I have more. Just meow if you want it.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily opened her eyes wide. Where had all her principles gone?
She immediately meowed when Chu Hongyi told her to.
It was such an embarrassment!
Despite knowing it was normal for a cat to behave this way, Cheng Xiaoxiao immediately covered her face with her paws after meowing.
“Don’t you want it anymore? Is it because…” Chu Hongyi’s face froze as he looked at the catnip on the ground with a strange expression on his face. “Do you want the catnip on the ground?”
Chu Hongyi placed Cheng Xiaoxiao on the ground reluctantly. Then he pushed the catnip on the ground with the one in his hand towards her. “Well, it’s really kind of dirty… but…”
Chu Hongyi smiled at Cheng Xiaoxiao with his pearlie whites showing. “If you like it, I won’t despise you for it. Go on.”
He pushed the catnip even closer to Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao stood over the catnip and moved her nose towards it before retreating from it.
Chu Hongyi watched as the white cat repeatedly went close to the catnip, looking like she was dying to take a bite before shrinking her head back like she abhorred the stuff.
“What are you doing?” Chu Hongyi felt so tickled looking at her.
“Interesting.” Chu Hongyi swept Cheng Xiaoxiao’s nose with the catnip in his hand.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily stiffened, and her fur exploded.
“Huh?”
Chu Hongyi raised the catnip in his hand. In an instant, Cheng Xiaoxiao grabbed Chu Hongyi’s arm with her front paws and stood on her hind legs as she stared fixedly at the catnip.
No!
No way!
Cheng Xiaoxiao did her utmost to turn her head away and not look at the catnip. However, that awful Chu Hongyi turned his hand, and the catnip appeared before her eyes again.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao stared hard with her eyes gleaming!
She opened her mouth and swiftly ate its leaf!
Her mind went blank as a refreshing sensation coursed through her body.
“Meow.”
She was seized by dizziness again.
“Xiaoxiao?”
Mother?
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao caught sight of the woman looking at her lovingly, tears cascaded from her eyes!
“Mommy?”
“Xiaoxiao, wash up and have breakfast.” She was wearing her usual apron and rubbing her head with one hand while she held a spatula with the other. “Or else, you’re going to be late for school.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s heart ached when she felt her mother’s hand on her head.
Was it really her mother?
“Come on! I will get you some rice.”
“Don’t go!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao immediately got up and wanted to give chase.
Instead, Cheng Xiaoxiao ended up seeing Chu Hongyi’s face in close-up. She swiftly retreated a step.
“Little fellow, why are you meowing at the rock?”
Chu Hongyi rubbed Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head as he spoke and pulled her into his arms. “Enough. I read that you can’t overdo the catnip. Or else, if you get sick…”
Chu Hongyi paused before he patted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head and continued, “… I am going to get it from Brother Yunshen!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the young man as he kept talking. She suddenly felt sad. The person touching her wasn’t her mother but him…
She raised her paw and touched her head. She could still sense remnants of the warmth from his hand.
It was all an illusion!
Her eyes turned red as she pondered.
“Little fellow?” Chu Hongyi saw how red her eyes and scratched his head somewhat helplessly and said, “Although it’s good stuff, you really can’t have too much of it.”
Was the lion cat looking so listless because he didn’t let her have more catnip?
Chu Hongyi carried Cheng Xiaoxiao, walked out of the rockery, and headed towards Chu Yunshen’s bedroom.
“Let me get you some real food, okay?”
Chu Hongyi turned and carried Cheng Xiaoxiao to the kitchen.
“Your Highness!”
The kitchen supervisor instantly stopped working and greeted Chu Hongyi when she spotted him.
Chu Hongyi nodded at the kitchen help and acknowledged them softly as he glanced at the food on the table.
When the kitchen supervisor realized that the cat in Prince Xuan’s arms belonged to Prince Jing, she stared with her eyes wide!
Cheng Xiaoxiao swiftly turned her head towards the kitchen supervisor when she sensed someone looking at her.
“Hmm? What do you want to eat?” Chu Hongyi instantly smiled when he saw the cat craning her head out. He reached his hand towards the plates covering the food. “Is it this? I think it smells good too. Shall I open it for you to see?”
The kitchen supervisor was stunned. Was Prince Xuan going to feed the food to the cat?
How could he do that?
The kitchen supervisor immediately stopped him and said, “Your Highness, you can’t…”
“Can’t what?” Chu Hongyi glared at the supervisor somewhat angrily as he uncovered the food. “His Highness adores the cat. Why can’t you spare her the food?”
He held the cat with one hand as he picked up the plate of spicy chicken feet.
The kitchen supervisor walked over instantly and bowed to Chu Hongyi before she explained, “Of course, she can eat. However, if she eats salty and spicy food, she might fall sick. I heard that cats lose their fur after taking too much salt. They might even die from it.”
“Is that so?” Chu Hongyi glanced at the white cat in his arms as he contemplated. If his brother found out that he made her lose all her fur and become a bald cat…
At the thought of this, Chu Hongyi shivered in fear. He instantly placed the spicy chicken feet back on the table. “Then what do you usually feed her?”
“Your Highness, she usually eats milk paste or a fish soup,” replied the supervisor as she bowed.
“Just that?” said Chu Hongyi in shock, “Why are you so cheap? She is His Highness’ after all, so you should feed her better.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly raised her head. Chu Hongyi genuinely spoke her mind.
Before she had the chance to look at her Chu Hongyi like he was her true friend, he continued, “No matter how little food you give her, you should at least give her some rats.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes as she exhaled hard, making her whiskers move nervously.
Chu Hongyi slapped his forehead. Why didn’t you think of this earlier? Cats ought to like rats!
He held Cheng Xiaoxiao tight as he said happily, “I will get the servants to catch fresh piping hot rats!”
“Your Highness, she…”
Their kitchen supervisor wanted to chase after him, but she realized Chu Hongyi and the cat were nowhere in sight.
“Nanny.” A female kitchen cook reached her head out and looked out the door quizzically. “I thought His Highness’ cat doesn’t eat rats.”
“Is it any of your business? Have you finished all your work?” The supervisor turned and glared at her. The female kitchen cook instantly turned and went to wash the ingredients.
“And the rest of you!” The kitchen supervisor glanced at the female kitchen cooks who were happily gossiping, “What are you standing around for? Hurry up and get cracking!”
“Yes, Ma’am.” The female kitchen cooks looked up and caught sight of the supervisor’s angry face and instantly scattered.
……
The moment Chu Yunshen returned home, he found Chu Hongyi standing with his back facing him at the stone table outside the room with his head lowered and talking to someone.
“Go on and eat. Why aren’t you eating?”
“MEEOOOOW!!!”
Then came an agonizing meow.
It was his cat!
Chu Yunshen’s eyes went dark, and he strode over immediately.
“Hongyi, what are you doing!” said Chu Yunshen coldly. Chu Hongyi held the cat in one hand and a live rat in the other and held it by the cat’s mouth.
The lion cat’s eyes were overwhelmed with fear. The moment she saw him, her eyes became red.
She immediately reached her paws out and wanted a hug.
“Brother Yunshen, Your back!”
Chu Hongyi raised his head and greeted Chu Yunshen delightedly. he put the rat back into the cage and stood up with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms and said, “Your cat is so weird. I got the servants to catch such a large juicy rat, but she refused to take a bite! Also…”
Chu Hongyi glanced at the rat in the cage as he said to Chu Yunshen, “I think your cat is a little too spineless! It should be the rat who is afraid of her, but here she is, looking like the rat is going to eat her alive! I was trying to help boost her courage.”
“Meow!”
Help Chu Yunshen!
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the live rats in the cage as they squeaked and felt absolutely terrified.
She looked dead straight at Chu Yunshen.
Did Chu Yunshen know what she had just gone through?
She and the rats had been staring at each other all afternoon!
Chu Hongyi suddenly went bonkers and was out to get her.
No matter how she resisted, he refused to remove the rats!
“You shouldn’t have done that.” Chu Yunshen suddenly felt a heartache when he looked at the little fellow’s limpid eyes. He stepped forward to yank Cheng Xiaoxiao out of Chu Hongyi’s arms and pulled her into his embrace.
“Brother Yunshen, I… I was only trying to…” Chu Hongyi looked like a child who was getting lectured as he hung his head while he stood in front of Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen glared at him before he lowered his head to see the tears in the cat’s eyes. He ordered Xiaowu coldly, “Xiaowu, send Prince Xuan back to the palace!”
“Brother Yunshen, let me explain. I didn’t…”
