Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 69
Chapter 69 You are the demon!
Chu Yunshen placed Cheng Xiaoxiao in the cage. He placed the cage on the table before he held his teacup and sat on a chair. Then he sipped tea as he watched Cheng Xiaoxiao perform.
“What?” Chu Yunshen sipped some tea and glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao calmly. “Are you refusing to perform? Xiaowu…”
“Meow!”
No!
Cheng Xiaoxiao interrupted Chu Yunshen with a meow. She turned to glare at Xiaowu, telling him not to come close to her!
She would come out of the cage on her own!
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the gold lock on the cage before she placed her paws powerlessly on the bars. Then she pushed her round head between the bars and tightened her butt as she pushed hard with her hind legs.
She squeezed with all her might!
In a few pushes, she popped out of the cage!
Xiaowu couldn’t suppress himself and cracked up laughing when he witnessed this. He immediately put on a straight face when he spotted the lion cat glaring at him and purposely said, “Is this the legendary contortionist technique?”
He even deliberately spoke very loudly.
Now that the lion cat’s secret was finally out, most of his curiosity about how she escaped dissipated.
So the lion cat took advantage of how soft she was and squeezed through the cage bars to escape.
Xiaowu was overthinking it previously. He used to think the lion cat could walk through walls or something!
A smile emerged in Chu Yunshen’s dark eyes. He picked up his teacup and used it to cover his mouth before drinking tea to suppress his laughter.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Yunshen before glancing at Xiaowu angrily. Then she decided to take it out on the weaker of the two.
“Meow!”
Shut up!
Cheng Xiaoxiao hissed at Xiaowu.
Then she turned her head and looked at Chu Yunshen. His lips were pursed tightly while his fingers had gone pale from gripping the teacup so firmly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help rolling her eyes. He could laugh if he wanted to. Why bother restraining himself?
Butler Liu knocked on the door at this very moment.
“Come in.” Chu Yunshen pulled Cheng Xiaoxiao into his arms and stroked her back gently as he said, “What is it?”
“Your Highness, those concubines have been sent back to their hometowns,” replied Butler Liu as he bowed to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen nodded. He played with the lion cat in his arms as he raised his hand and looked at Butler Liu, who had yet to leave, and asked, “Yes?”
Butler Liu bowed instantly and said, “I’m not sure if I should tell you this.”
Chu Yunshen’s hand paused as he glanced at Butler Liu.
Butler Liu instantly said, “When I brought a physician into Yulan quarters to treat Wan Xia’s maid’s injury…”
Then the butler glanced at the lion cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms before he continued, “… I unexpectedly saw the cat lying obediently in Miss Wan Xia’s arms.”
Chu Yunshen lowered his head to look at the cat in his arms in shock. His eyes were filled with surprise.
“Do you like the woman?” asked Chu Yunshen coldly.
“Meow.”
Yes, she did.
Cheng Xiaoxiao nodded. Since the woman once saved her, she had to find ways to repay her for her kindness.
Wan Xia’s maid got so badly injured shortly after she entered the residence. If Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t help Wan Xia, she would probably get eaten alive by those women judging from her meek personality.
Chu Yunshen felt a little uncomfortable when he saw Cheng Xiaoxiao nodding in agreement.
Didn’t the lion cat like no one else except him?
How could she like someone else?
Butler Liu looked delighted to see that the cat in Prince Jing’s arms was genuinely fond of Wan Xia. In that case, Prince Jing might feel receptive to his suggestion.
However, he couldn’t tell how His Highness felt about this, so he was somewhat hesitant to speak.
Xiaowu lost his patience after waiting for a long time. He glanced at Butler Liu and said, “Liu, when did you start to hem and haw?”
“I…” said Butler Liu hesitantly as he glanced at Chu Yunshen and justified to himself in his heart that he was simply trying to help His Highness solve his problems.
He closed his eyes and continued with determination, “I just thought maybe Miss Wan Xia could help take care of the cat when you are not in the residence.”
Chu Yunshen raised his head and looked at Butler Liu with his face dark as he said coldly, “What did you say?”
Butler Liu was so startled that he shivered as he hurriedly knelt and apologized, “I’m sorry for overstepping, Your Highness!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao swiftly nodded with her eyes gleaming when she heard Butler Liu’s excellent suggestion as she curled up in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
Then she wouldn’t have to stay locked up in the room.
Chu Yunshen pressed Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head with his large hand and said unhappily, “Stop moving!”
He patted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head gently as he spoke.
“Meow?”
Why did he hit her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at Chu Yunshen sulkily. Why was he angry?
Did she piss him off again?
Wasn’t she obediently sitting in his arms now?
Xiaowu could sense that His Highness was feeling jealous of Wan Xia.
Out of fear that Butler Liu might get implicated, he instantly stepped forward and acted angry as he said, “Why are you still standing around if you know your mistake? Hurry up and get on with your work.”
He glanced at Butler Liu as he spoke.
“Yes, Sir!”
Butler Liu got up and wiped the cold sweat from his brow before he bowed to Chu Yunshen. “Your Highness, allow me to take my leave.”
Then he left without daring to linger for a moment longer.
Wasn’t it great if one more person could help look after Prince Jing’s cat?
Also, he found Wan Xia to be a good, courteous, sensible young woman after he came into contact with her today.
In comparison to the other women living in Yulan quarters, he felt Wan Xia a lot more pleasant. No wonder Prince Jing’s cat liked her too.
After Butler Liu left, Xiaowu glanced at the sulking lion cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms. Then he suddenly patted his head and said, “Master, I bumped into Dr Mu when I was preparing the cage.”
Chu Yunshen stroked the lion cat’s fur as he glanced at Xiaowu.
Xiaowu coughed gently and suppressed his emotion as he said, “He said the little fellow went to his room and made him go to Yulan court to save Wan Xia’s maid!”
Then Xiaowu glanced at Cheng Xiaoxiao with an air of intrigue before he continued saying to Chu Yunshen, “This cat is becoming more and more intelligent. Do you think she’s a demon?”
“Meow!”
Xiaowu was a demon!
His whole family was demons!
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly reached her paws out towards Xiaowu as she lay in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
Chu Yunshen hastily pressed Cheng Xiaoxiao down. He stroked her head with one hand while he held onto her waist with another as he looked at Xiaowu profoundly.
Xiaowu misunderstood Prince Jing and thought he wanted him to go on, so he continued to agitate Cheng Xiaoxiao, “Master, just look at her! She knew every word I said! Why don’t we send for a Taoist priest to take a look at her?”
“MEOW!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was absolutely furious!
She stood on Chu Yunshen’s thighs as she brandished her claws.
“Meow!”
Come over!
“Meow!”
Come over! Just wait till she got her paws on Xiaowu!
“Enough.” Chu Yunshen pressed Cheng Xiaoxiao down and glared at Xiaowu. “20 paddles from the punishment officer.”
“Huh!?” shouted Xiaowu.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly felt smug. She lunged onto Chu Yunshen with her paws on his shoulders and rubbed his chin as she meowed gently.
“How can you speak ill of my cat?”
Chu Yunshen glanced at Xiaowu before carrying Cheng Xiaoxiao and standing up to leave the table. “Send for dinner.”
“Then…”
Xiaowu’s eyes lit up. He was wondering if he no longer had to go to the punishment officer to receive punishment.
“After you send for dinner…” Chu Yunshen walked up to the table in the center of the room and stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head as he continued, “You can head to the punishment officer.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao spat her tongue cheekily at Xiaowu.
Served him right for being cocky!
After dinner, Chu Yunshen undressed Cheng Xiaoxiao and placed her on the bed in the inner room. Then he patted her head as he said, “Go ahead and sleep first.”
Then he went to the outer room.
Cheng Xiaoxiao reached her head out from under the blanket and glanced at Chu Yunshen. She saw him leaning against the chair behind the table with a book in his hand as he looked out the window.
The moonlight scattered on the table and blended with the candlelight in the room.
His brows were tightly furrowed as though he were deep in thought.
For a long time, he did not go back to reading the book. Cheng Xiaoxiao wondered if he was daydreaming or something.
She recalled how she often went into a daze after her mother died. Sometimes, she could sit by the window and stare at the clouds the entire day.
However, Chu Yunshen seemed as though he was plagued with worry now.
What kind of problems could he possibly have?
Cheng Xiaoxiao always felt Chu Yunshen was fearless. She recalled how they managed to escape the eight-trigram formation previously because of how decisive and intelligent he was.
Although she helped him find the heart of the formation, how could they escape unscathed if not for his bravery and drive?
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Yunshen as she curled up on the bed in the inner room. She started to feel groggy before long. Then she became so tired she started to see stars.
Finally, she could no longer stay up, so her head tilted sideways, and she fell asleep.
Chu Yunshen was no longer in the room when Cheng Xiaoxiao woke up the next day.
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t know what time he fell asleep last night.
She was already dressed in a green outfit with the bell hanging from her paw.
Ever since she realized it was Chu Yunshen changing her daily, she couldn’t help thinking about Chu Yunshen’s strong, powerful hands moving up and down her body when she opened her eyes and saw her garments…
PAH!
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily slapped her head with her paw!
What was she thinking all day?
She was a cat!
A cat!
Cheng Xiaoxiao ran off!
She jumped off the bed and walked around the room. Hmm? The cord she was tied with yesterday was now gone.
It seemed Chu Yunshen finally felt bad and decided to stop punishing her. He finally grew a conscience!
She jumped onto the table and raised her paw to open its cage.
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird instantly jumped towards Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“Meow.
Baby bird!
It was an eagle after all!
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the baby bird and felt like a mother looking at her disappointing child with sadness and pain in her eyes. She prodded the baby bird with her head to push it off the table.
“Meow.”
So fly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao flapped her front paws at the baby bird.
“Chirp chirp!” The baby bird kept shrinking back into the cage hard.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao placed her paw on the cage door and glared at the baby bird as she meowed somewhat threateningly.
“Meow meow!”
Stop going inside!
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird used its head to push Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head as it struggled to go deeper into the cage.
“Meow!”
Stop hiding inside!
“Chirp chirp!”
A creak could suddenly be heard just as Cheng Xiaoxiao and the baby bird went into a stalemate.
The door suddenly opened from outside and sunlight scattered in.
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her paws and half-covered her eyes as she looked out.
“Are you awake?”
It was the maid in charge of her food.
“I just knew the little fellow was trying to give her bell to the baby bird again.”
The servant standing guard over Cheng Xiaoxiao came into the room with the maid.
