Chapter 65 Wang Xia joins Prince Jing’s residence
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head at Chu Yunshen. Then she acted cutely and spat her tongue.
Chu Yunshen stared at her with his face stiffened.
Cheng Xiaoxiao could only use her killer move and pretend to sleep!
She suddenly yawned and slumped her head. She rubbed her head in Chu Yunshen’s hand before she lay down sideways in his arms.
Chu Yunshen was terrified. He thought she had passed out after suffering the fall into the lake. Just as he was about to get Xiaowu to bring Mu Bai, he noticed her eyelashes moving. She was pretending to sleep.
Oh gosh!
Never mind. He could deal with her tomorrow. Chu Yunshen shook his head helplessly.
The next day at daybreak, the deafening sound of gongs and drums rang outside Prince Jing’s residence.
And firecrackers kept going off.
All the people nearby came over when they heard the commotion.
“What’s going on? Is Prince Jing getting married?” asked a man angrily as he yawned, “What’s up with all these drums and firecrackers? I’m trying to sleep here!”
“Nope. I heard Prince Qing gave Miss Wan Xia to Prince Jing! The one who made a name for herself in the city with her dancing skills.” Another man tiptoed as he looked at the sedan chair.
“The one who became famous because of her taoyao dance?” asked the man in contempt, “She’s just a dancing girl. Did he have to welcome a dancer with such fanfare?”
Then the man shook his head. “It seems Prince Jing is just another pleasure-seeking rich playboy!”
“That’s not true! Miss Wan Xia isn’t a dancer. His Majesty has given her the title of Qixia County Princess,” retorted a man with a black mole on his face.
“So what if she’s a county princess? Isn’t she a dancer inside?” said the man as he spat on the ground.
“How can you say that!!”
The man with a mole instantly lost it!
“Stop fighting.”
A man hastily grabbed the man with a black mole and said, “Look! Miss Wan Xia is coming out!”
She was dressed in a light gauze white outfit with her shoulders showing as she got off the sedan chair.
Her outfit complimented her snow-white skin.
Her snow-white neck could be seen, and it was completely flawless and didn’t need embellishment.
A perfect figure could vaguely be seen through her outfit while her black hair was held up casually with an elegant silver hairpin.
“Wow! It’s Miss Wan Xia!” shouted the people in the crowd nonstop.
Wan Xia nodded to the crowd with an elegant smile on her face. She didn’t put on any makeup, and her eyes were soft and seemed somewhat cool.
She covered the side of her mouth with a slender flawless hand with a glowing complexion.
Her waist was so slender and fine.
“She’s gorgeous!”
“Wan Xia! Wan Xia!”
Some of Wan Xia’s admirers shouted from the crowd.
There was quite a commotion.
Before long, even more citizens surrounded her.
Everyone started gossiping.
And they said all kinds of stuff.
Some of the people said Prince Jing was a spendthrift for welcoming a mere dancer with such fanfare.
Some of them said Prince Jing was idled around being a womanizer.
All kinds of gossip flew in the air.
……
Chu Yunshen was feeding Cheng Xiaoxiao. She was dressed in a red garment with a silver bell tied on her front paw.
Chu Yunshen had just deboned some fish and placed them before Cheng Xiaoxiao on her plate when Xiaowu came in hurried to report.
“Oh no, Master! Prince Qing just sent the Qixia County Princess, some woman called Wan Xia or something, over!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao swiftly lifted her head from her fish.
What?
“Why the big fuss?”
Chu Yunshen kept on deboning fish while he patted Cheng Xiaoxiao on her head when she craned it out. “Focus on your food.”
Then he turned to glance at Xiaowu and said, “Get the housekeeper to set her up in the courtyard furthest away from my room.”
“But Prince Qing sent Wan Xia with such fanfare! All the people are watching outside the residence. They are saying that you are…”
Xiaowu suddenly stopped before he finished his sentence.
Chu Yunshen’s hand halted over the fish as he raised his head to look at Xiaowu. “What are they saying about me?”
“They’re saying…” said Xiaowu hesitantly. After dithering for a long time, he replied, “I don’t dare say it.”
“Tell me,” ordered Chu Yunshen coldly.
Xiaowu closed his eyes said it all at a go, “They say that you spend money just to welcome a dancer into the residence while your people starve! You are causing unrest among the citizens.”
The room went so quiet that only the sound of Cheng Xiaoxiao drinking fish soup could be heard in the room after Xiaowu finished his words.
Xiaowu glanced at the white cat. His Highness was insulted by the people, but the cat could still find the appetite to eat.
Chu Yunshen narrowed his eyes and said calmly, “Get someone to bring her in.”
“Master, aren’t you the least bit angry after Prince Qing sabotaged you like this?”
Xiaowu clenched his fists tightly. “Shall I send Wan Xia back to Prince Qing’s residence?”
Then he headed for the entrance as he spoke.
“Why do you think Brother Jinshuo put in all the effort to send Wan Xia here?”
Chu Yunshen raised his brow as he asked Xiaowu while he picked bones.
Xiaowu halted. He turned to look at Chu Yunshen and asked, “Why?”
“He is getting all the citizens to keep an eye on me. The moment anything happens to Wan Xia, will all be my fault!”
Chu Yunshen touched her head. Cheng Xiaoxiao swiftly dodged and glared at him for being such a pig!
Chu Yunshen narrowed his eyes. What had gotten into her?
He had been feeding her carefully all this time.
“Prince Qing is just waiting for you to go out and chase Wan Xia away.”
Chu Yunshen gently rubbed the angry little fellow’s head before he continued, “Bring her in.”
“Yes, Master! I’ll get it done now!”
Xiaowu instantly realized what Chu Yunshen meant. He had to quickly bring the troublemaker into the residence first!
After making her stand outside the residence for so long, the entire city was probably standing outside looking.
If the emperor caught wind of this, he would scold Prince Jing again.
“Sir, have you spoken to His Highness?”
The housekeeper instantly walked over when he saw Xiaowu at the entrance.
“Bring her in. Let her stay in the quarters furthest away from His Highness!”
Xiaowu glanced at Wan Xia standing outside before he instructed the housekeeper.
“Yes, Sir! I’m right on it.”
……
Chu Yunshen took out a thin and strong cord out of nowhere after breakfast.
“Meow”
How could he?
What did Chu Yunshen want to do?
Cheng Xiaoxiao retreated as she hissed at Chu Yunshen!
“There’s nowhere for you to run, little fellow!”
Xiaowu grabbed Cheng Xiaoxiao from behind.
“Meow!”
You cat killers!
Help!
“Do you have to meow so tragically? Why is it starting to sound like we’re butchering a pig?”
Xiaowu teased the lion cat gloatingly.
Xiaowu was naturally delighted to see the little fellow suffer this misfortune after getting bullied by her all this time.
“Meow!”
Xiaowu was the pig!
His whole family was pigs!
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at Xiaowu. She suddenly felt something tightening over her hind leg, so she hastily turned and saw Chu Yunshen tying the cord over her paw unhurriedly.
“Meow!”
What was Chu Yunshen doing?
Cheng Xiaoxiao noticed the more she struggled, the tighter the cord became.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the cord on her leg perplexedly. Chu Yunshen had tied it onto her using the same rope tying technique used on prisoners.
What was this?
Why was he doing this to her?
“Meow!”
Let her go!
“Little fellow, you must be shocked, right? The more you struggle, the tighter it becomes! You had better stay in the room obediently today and don’t go anywhere!” said Xiaowu as he let go of her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao darted out towards the entrance!
How dare they treat her this way!
She was going to run away from the residence!
But before she made it to the door, the cord ran out and tightened over her paw so hard that it hurt. She turned to see that the other end of the cord was secured to one of the table’s legs in the outer room.
“Allow me to officially inform you! Master wants you to face the wall and reflect for ten days starting now! If you refuse to change your ways, then you will be trapped in this room forever.”
“Xiaowu!”
The moment Xiaowu finished his sentence, Chu Yunshen looked at him.
He instantly raised his hand and laughed as he said, “Master, I was just kidding with her.”
“Let’s go to the justice department.”
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu as he bowed.
After seeing Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu leave, Cheng Xiaoxiao finally composed herself.
Could she tell them that she could already tie a rope this way when she was three?
Cheng Xiaoxiao used her paws to undo the cord deftly. In the blink of an eye, Cheng Xiaoxiao regained her freedom.
What right did they have to tie her up?
Did they want to forbid her to go out?
If she didn’t put up an act earlier, would they have left with assurance?
Humph!
Did they want to put Cheng Xiaoxiao under house arrest?
In their next lifetime!
Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the table and undid the bell on her paw before throwing it inside the baby bird’s cage.
Then she escaped out of the window. Shortly after she left, the maid came in with food.
However, they couldn’t find a cat in the room after looking everywhere.
The maid instantly put down the tray of milk paste and shouted at the servant standing guard, “Why didn’t you keep a close eye on her? Don’t you even know His Highness’s cat is gone?”
“Impossible! I didn’t see any cat coming out! Also, I can still hear the bell in the room!” said the servant as he entered the room with the maid and looked for the cat again.
The servant got a shock when he found the bell in the baby bird’s cage.
The cat must be a genius, right?
The cat could shockingly undo the bell and cord.
“Hurry up and get all the servants to search for His Highness’ cat! She must be in the residence somewhere!”
The servant broke out in cold sweat when he realized that the cat escaped.
Meanwhile, Cheng Xiaoxiao was strolling around the residence leisurely.
After Wan Xia was sent into the residence this morning, Chu Yunshen got the housekeeper to assign her the living quarters, which were the furthest away from his.
So she hadn’t found Wan Xia after walking around in the residence all day.
No matter what, Wan Xia was her savior.
Chu Yunshen was such a pig! Wan Xia was innocent!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was a reasonable person.
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was about to give up her search for Wan Xia, she suddenly heard some women’s sharp voices coming from a courtyard.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the huge courtyard by the side. Although it belonged to the residence, she found it odd that she never noticed it before.
“Hey! Be careful! She is a county princess! What if she punishes you?”
Gentle laughter came floating out of the courtyard. Cheng Xiaoxiao quickly picked up the words, ‘county princess’. She instantly knew these women must be bullying Wan Xia!
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the tightly shut courtyard doors before she glanced at a tall tree outside its wall and darted up onto the wall.
She almost passed out from anger when she witnessed what was going on inside!
A group of gorgeously dressed women had surrounded Wan Xia and were shoving her around. Also, Wan Xia’s maid, Qin, was cornered by their maids by the side.
