Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 64
Chapter 64 Skin you alive!
“Yunshen! Do you not plan on talking to me forever?”
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard the princess talking, her scalp couldn’t help going numb.
“That’s not it,” replied Chu Yunshen coldly without stopping.
“Then why haven’t you spoken a word to me ever since seeing me?” said Chu Mengqian anxiously as she ran behind him.
She was seated three rows behind Chu Yunshen earlier. Ever since the banquet started, she kept staring at him.
She kept waiting for Chu Yunshen to realize she was there. However, he didn’t talk to her during the entire banquet.
“I had nothing to say,” said Chu Yunshen before he headed to the horse carriage.
“Brother Yunshen, let me see you off!”
Chu Hongyi followed behind him.
After Chu Yunshen boarded the horse carriage waiting at the palace gates, Chu Mengqian could no longer restrain herself from saying, “Yunshen!”
She wrung her handkerchief so hard that it almost tore.
“Do you really have nothing to say to me?”
He reprimanded her harshly previously. However, he hadn’t come by to apologize all this time, and now he had nothing to say to her.
She was a girl after all, so Chu Yunshen shouldn’t have been so harsh on her.
“I’m tired! Let’s head home,” said Chu Yunshen to Xiaowu as he glanced at Chu Mengqian.
“Yes, Your Highness!” Xiaowu glanced at the lion cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms as he put down the blinds.
What was going on?
How did the little fellow end up in the palace?
Why on earth was she drenched?
“Farewell, Brother Yunshen,” said Chu Hongyi as he paid obeisance and bowed to Chu Yunshen.
“Hmph!”
Chu Mengqian glared at Chu Hongyi. Chu Yunshen kept giving Chu Hongqian the cold shoulder, but Chu Hongyi kept begging for his attention.
She sure as hell wasn’t going to do that anymore!
Then she swiftly removed a perfume bag from her sleeve and threw it at Xiaowu. “Give this to His Highness! It’s my gift for cracking the case!”
Despite how cold she acted, a woman’s sobbing could be heard after she covered her face and ran over to her family’s horse carriage. It instantly dawned on Xiaowu that Princess Qianqian was just pretending to sound harsh when she still truly cared about Chu Yunshen.
Xiaowu sighed. He opened the blinds and handed the perfume bag to Chu Yunshen. “Master, this is from…”
Xiaowu glanced at Chu Mengqian’s family carriage nearby.
Chu Yunshen glanced at Chu Mengqian as she ran off. He glanced at the table in the horse carriage and said, “Leave it there.”
“Yes, Master!” Xiaowu immediately put it on the table.
“Brother Yunshen, Qianqian spent three days making the perfume bag needle by needle. The last time I saw her, her eyes were red, and there were wounds on her hands from the needlework. You know she never ever makes…”
Chu Yunshen coughed and looked at Xiaowu.
Xiaowu immediately put down the blinds before he bowed to Chu Hongyi. Then he got onto the horse carriage and told the driver, “To the residence.”
On the way home, Chu Yunshen kept quiet the whole time.
He didn’t think that his father would hate him so much.
Everything that transpired in the palace today leaped before his eyes.
Palace intrigue and discord between all factions made the palace’s situation even more serious than he imagined.
Also, he got into a conflict with Prince Qing and imperial consort Su, so it would be hard for him to make any moves in the palace from now on.
Cheng Xiaoxiao curled up into Chu Yunshen’s arms. The moment he got onto the horse carriage, he hadn’t said a word.
His face was dark. Hence, Cheng Xiaoxiao wondered whether he was angry with her.
She couldn’t help touching Chu Yunshen’s chest with her paws.
Chu Yunshen didn’t lower his head to look at her like she anticipated.
“Meow.”
Look at her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao rubbed her head on Chu Yunshen’s chest, but he merely raised his hand to press it down.
He continued to ignore her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head and gazed at him. He certainly looked angry. Was he angry because Cheng Xiaoxiao snuck into the palace?
“Meow meow.”
She was sorry. Don’t be angry, okay, Chu Yunshen?
Cheng Xiaoxiao squeezed past his hand and shoved it aside. Then she stood on her stubby little hind legs and lay prone on Chu Yunshen’s shoulder.
“Meow.”
Hey, Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen still refused to look at her. She instantly kept rubbing his chin with her head while she kept going, “Meow meow.”
Forgive her!
Don’t be angry, okay?
Chu Yunshen looked awfully creepy like this!
The itch on Chu Yunshen’s chin instantly made him snap out of his daze. He lowered his head to see the little fellow in his arms. Then he pulled her furry head down with one hand while he held her front paws with the other and pulled her off his shoulder.
“What are you doing?”
“Meow meow.”
He was finally willing to talk to her!
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed happily.
Her contrasting eyes brimmed with joy.
“Are you still in the mood to be happy?”
Chu Yunshen looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao with his eyes narrowed.
“I haven’t even settled the score with you yet.”
“Meow!”
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard Chu Yunshen, she wanted to leap out of his embrace.
Chu Yunshen pressed her firmly into his arms. He looked Cheng Xiaoxiao straight into her eyes. “How did you get into the palace?”
The palace was so heavily guarded that not even a fly could enter.
However, the lion cat was capable of entering unscathed without drawing any attention to the guards.
Was she so resourceful that she could make it past the guards? Or were the guards careless?
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept acting cute to Chu Yunshen and did her utmost to change the subject.
Prince Jing’s residence.
The moment they arrived, Chu Yunshen ordered Xiaowu to fetch a basin of water.
“Yes, Master!”
Xiaowu saw the lion cat’s damp fur. He thought about what a germaphobe Prince Jing was and couldn’t believe he carried the lion cat all the way home. This completely changed Xiaowu’s opinion of the cat.
He immediately told a servant to send hot water.
Chu Yunshen wanted to remove Cheng Xiaoxiao’s soiled clothing and change her into the fresh garments the maid had sent.
Then he walked up to the table and picked up Cheng Xiaoxiao, who was playing with the baby bird. He patted her head gently. “Look at how dirty you are. Don’t dirty my calligraphy paper.”
“Meow!”
He was such a miser!
Cheng Xiaoxiao hissed at him and wanted to jump onto the table again.
Chu Yunshen yanked her by the straps on her garments before lifting her up. “Stop running around!”
Chu Yunshen undid her blue outfit and tossed it on the ground.
Xiaowu and a servant had come back with the water. He knocked on the door gently and said, “Master, the hot water is ready.”
“Come in,” ordered Chu Yunshen coldly.
Xiaowu instantly opened the door. He told the servant to put down the basin of water before dismissing him. Then Xiaowu said, “Master, I’ll bathe her.”
Xiaowu knew exactly why Chu Yunshen asked for this water.
Xiaowu automatically rolled up his sleeves.
“I’ll do it.”
Chu Yunshen placed Cheng Xiaoxiao into the water before telling Xiaowu, “Get me some cord.”
“Yes, Master!”
Why did His Highness need cord?
Xiaowu went to the housekeeper to ask for rope quizzically.
By the time he came back to the room, Prince Jing was done bathing the lion cat.
The maids were tidying up the room, and Prince Jing was seated at the table reading. The lion cat was wrapped in some white fabric and had curled up drowsily in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
“Master, I got you some cord!”
Xiaowu handed the cord to Chu Yunshen. Chu Yunshen looked up from his book to glance at Xiaowu’s cord. “It’s too thick.”
“Huh?”
“Get me another one.” Chu Yunshen lowered his head to read again.
“Yes, Master!”
Xiaowu nodded before heading back to the housekeeper to get something thinner.
“Master, will this do?” asked Xiaowu as he gasped.
Chu Yunshen shook his head. “Still too thick.”
“Master, what do you want to tie it with?”
This time, the housekeeper told him that this was the thinnest cord in the residence.
“The cat,” replied Chu Yunshen with his eyes on the book without even looking up.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly trembled when she heard this. She raised her head and looked up, wondering who called for her.
“Oh I see. I will go out and buy it tomorrow.”
Xiaowu looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao sympathetically. Then he bowed to Chu Yunshen and said, “Allow me to take my leave, Master!”
“Go on.”
Chu Yunshen nodded and continued reading.
“Meow!”
What was with that look on Xiaowu’s face?
It made her so uneasy.
Why did he keep looking at her that way?
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her paw and waved it at Xiaowu. If he dared to keep looking at her that way, he was going to scratch him!
“I see you are feeling energetic now?”
Chu Yunshen glanced at the little fellow in his arms. He was planning on settling the score tomorrow since she looked so sleepy after the shower.
Now that she was awake, it was time to talk about her sneaking into the palace.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao noticed something amiss with the way Chu Yunshen was looking at her. She instantly wanted to leap out of Chu Yunshen’s arms. However, he swiftly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his embrace. “How did you end up in the palace?”
“Meow.”
What was Chu Yunshen saying?
She acted like she didn’t understand.
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head.
“Have you learned how to act dumb now?”
Chu Yunshen raised his brow and pursed his lips up slightly.
“Do you think I won’t punish you?”
“Meow meow, meow meow!”
Please don’t! Please don’t!
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head like a rattle drum!
“How did you get into the palace?” asked Chu Yunshen again.
Cheng Xiaoxiao pointed at the bedroom window obediently.
“Did you jump through the window?
Chu Yunshen narrowed his eyes.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao nodded her head. Then she pointed at the courtyard walls. She certainly didn’t dare to tell him about the dog hole!
“Then you jumped over the courtyard walls? And?” She was no lion cat. She was more like a bandit cat!
“Meow.” And she jumped onto the horse carriage.
Cheng Xiaoxiao gestured at Chu Yunshen with her paws. Since he didn’t have a horse carriage in their room, she couldn’t just point it out this time.
Chu Yunshen guessed several times before he figured out that Cheng Xiaoxiao hid on his horse carriage and went into the palace with him.
“Oh my.”
Chu Yunshen swiftly lifted Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then he pinched the back of her head with his large hand. “how could you? Do you know what kind of place the palace is?”
“Meow.”
It was the palace!
Of course, she knew what the palace was.
Cheng Xiaoxiao nodded to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen’s face went sullen. “Why are you nodding? What would a cat like you know? If I didn’t happen to bump into you, you would have gotten skinned alive today!”
“Meow!”
Skinned alive?!
Cheng Xiaoxiao shivered and ducked into Chu Yunshen’s arms.
She nuzzled into Chu Yunshen’s arms.
“Now you’re afraid?”
Chu Yunshen pulled her head up from his chest and lifted her by her paws, “How should I punish you?”
“Meow.”
No, don’t.
