Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 54
Chapter 54 Carp soup
“Meow meow.”
Fish soup?
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s eyes glinted as she looked at Chu Yunshen. She was overwhelmed with joy. She finally didn’t have to keep eating milk paste!
“Did you hear what Mu Bai said?” Chu Yunshen pulled Cheng Xiaoxiao’s furry head away from his chin. “Stay put.”
“Meow.”
No way!
Cheng Xiaoxiao gently meowed before she continued rubbing his chin again.
Chu Yunshen felt a warm sensation in his heart when the warm furry head kept rubbing his chin.
He gazed deeply at the little fellow in his arms. Then she stood up on his thighs. Did she want to walk?
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao spotted the smile on Chu Yunshen’s face, so she immediately jumped towards his neck.
“Meow meow.”
“Hey!”
Chu Yunshen pulled the little fellow from his face and touched her nose tip as he said, “Are you trying to stifle me to death?”
“Meow.”
Nothing of the sort!
He had only himself to blame for looking so gorgeous when he smiled.
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept pouncing around in Chu Yunshen’s arms. She was beside herself with joy.
The bell on her paw rang incessantly.
The baby bird kept chirping from the cage when it heard it.
Chu Yunshen glanced at the baby bird jumping nonstop in its cage before he lowered his head to look at the little fellow rolling around in his arms and acting adorable. He couldn’t help laughing as he said, “You’re the only thing that isn’t afraid of me.”
“Meow.”
What was so scary about Chu Yunshen?
It wasn’t like he could eat Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao stood up on her hind legs and placed her front paws on Chu Yunshen’s shoulder. Then she turned her head sideways to face Chu Yunshen and rubbed his face with her head.
“Meow meow.”
Chu Yunshen patted her back gently a couple of times. “Enough. Rest early tonight.”
Then Chu Yunshen placed Cheng Xiaoxiao on the bed in the room and said towards the door, “Send water.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help blushing as Chu Yunshen undressed her, so she buried her head in the blanket.
In the past, she didn’t sense any embarrassment before she started wearing clothes.
After she started putting on clothes every day, she felt an inexplicable sense of shame when Chu Yunshen suddenly undressed her.
The maids came in with the water after Chu Yunshen undressed her and removed the bell from her paw.
“Come in.”
Chu Yunshen ordered the maid to enter while Cheng Xiaoxiao kept her head buried under the blanket the entire time.
The maid looked at the white cat under the blanket furtively. Why did it appear as though she was shy?
The white cat’s contrasting eyes stared dead straight at the maid when she noticed her staring. The maid was so startled that she lowered her head instantly.
After the maid picked up the cat’s garments from the ground and turned to leave with the basin, she heard the prince talking to the cat from behind.
“Let go. You’re going to stifle yourself.”
Was that really the prince talking so gently with a smile?
“Meow meow.”
“Heheh!”
The instant the door closed, she keenly heard the prince laughing to the cat inside.
The next day, Cheng Xiaoxiao woke up to the sound of book pages turning the moment she opened her eyes.
She climbed out of the blanket to see that she was dressed in Chu Yunshen’s favorite red outfit with the bell on her paw.
RING RING!
Chu Yunshen was reading in the outer room at the desk. He turned the book over and placed it on the table before he entered the inner room.
“Are you up?”
Chu Yunshen gently leaned against the pillar, which segregated the inner and outer rooms. The dark purple silk gauze hanging over his shoulder made his cold face look slightly warmer.
“Meow.”
Why didn’t Chu Yunshen go out today?
Cheng Xiaoxiao leaped into his arms right away and purred happily nonstop.
“Meow meow.”
“You’re so naughty!”
Chu Yunshen held the little fellow in his arms and walked over to the table.
“Bring it in.” Chu Yunshen’s cold voice came from over Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head.
Then the door opened with a creak.
A few maids came in with a tray while the faint scent of fish soup wafted in the air.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly felt energetic. She stared hard at the tray which the maid dressed in pink was holding.
Chu Yunshen naturally noticed her reaction. He waved his hand, and the maids immediately placed the contents of the tray on the table.
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t stop staring at the porcelain bowl the moment the fish soup appeared.
The fish soup was milky white and smelled refreshing.
Chu Yunshen picked up the porcelain soup spoon and placed some into Cheng Xiaoxiao’s usual tiny bowl.
A few drops of fish soup landed on the table from the spoon and left a few white drops behind.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though the droplets would tumble across the tabletop if she blew them.
“Stop looking. Eat up.”
Chu Yunshen placed the small bowl of fish soup in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then he took some carp flesh and started picking its bones off.
Cheng Xiaoxiao stuck her tongue out to test the soup’s temperature. It was perfect. Not too cold and not too hot.
Before long, she finished all the fish soup and licked her lips. Then she looked up at Chu Yunshen eagerly.
Chu Yunshen placed the porcelain plate with the carp flesh in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao. She was so touched she almost cried.
She didn’t know cats could enjoy such perks!
He even picked out the bones from the fish for her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao chewed the fish with her little mouth as she watched Chu Yunshen placed more soup in her bowl. The prince was getting more and more handsome day by day!
She couldn’t help joyfully meowing as she savored it in her mouth after more warm soup was placed before her.
Chu Yunshen turned to rub the lion cat’s head. The little fellow was so easily satisfied. All it took was some fish soup for her to be so delighted.
He couldn’t help shaking his head. If people didn’t know better, it would seem as though he had been abusing her.
Chu Yunshen sat back at his desk to read after breakfast with Cheng Xiaoxiao curling up on the cushion to continue reading the ‘Ghost Stories’.
The morning light scattered through the window and covered them with a light gold hue.
Xiaowu stood outside and looked at the man and cat in the room. Then he waved the servant standing in the corner over.
The servant immediately walked over to Xiaowu and bowed and said, “Sir.”
“His Highness is staying indoors for a few days, so you don’t have to stand guard here.”
“Yes, Sir!” replied the servant before he left.
For a few days in a row, Chu Yunshen could be seen sitting at his desk reading whenever Cheng Xiaoxiao woke up.
Chu Yunshen would watch her finish her carp soup without fail each morning before returning to his desk to read.
Sometimes, she would curl up on the cushion and read. Occasionally, she would play with the baby bird on the floor.
However, Chu Yunshen would come over to scoop her up before long and stroked her back while he continued reading.
The victory banquet was taking place the next day. Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the lovely weather outside sadly and shook her head.
She wanted to capture more wandering spirits in the city suburbs but was held up because Chu Yunshen didn’t go out.
She had no idea how long her human form could sustain for with the amount of spiritual energy she had gathered thus far.
She recalled that she could stay human for a minute or so when the jade pendant gave off green light.
Now the jade pendant was glowing yellow, and it was the first time she experienced it.
Judging from the number of wandering spirits she had caught in Prince Jing’s residence and the northern city suburbs, she could become human for roughly two minutes.
Also, the malicious spirit dressed in red that she captured a few days ago possessed far more spiritual power, so she could probably stay human longer, right?
But she was simply uncertain precisely how long it was.
So she had to be careful tomorrow.
Xiaowu came in with Mu Bai when she was in a daze. “Master, Doctor Mu is here.”
“Mhm.”
Chu Yunshen nodded before handing the little fellow to Mu Bai.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hissed suddenly.
Why was Chu Yunshen handing her over to some other man again?
She brandished her claws and threatened Mu Bai.
“Meow! Meow!”
If he didn’t let go of her, she was going to teach him a lesson!
Mu Bai grabbed the lion cat’s front paws and lifted her at arm’s length. He almost got scratched by the little fellow a few times.
“Help me out here,” shouted Mu Bai to Xiaowu hurriedly.
“Sure!”
Xiaowu immediately grabbed the lion cat by her waist from behind.
Mu Bai was relieved. He held the little fellow’s front paws with one hand while he patted the anxious lion cat with the other. “Calm down. This is just a simple examination.”
“That’s right! Doctor Mu just wants to see if the fish soup worked.”
Xiaowu deeply inhaled as he held on tightly to her little body. Then a few bloody scratches suddenly appeared on the back of his hand.
The cat’s scratching was becoming increasingly painful!
Mu Bai swiftly examined the lion cat. He raised his brow and said to Chu Yunshen, “It seems your day and night attention paid off. The little fellow is recovering well and seems fine now.”
“Mhm.”
Chu Yunshen nodded. Then he glanced at Xiaowu, who immediately placed the cat back in his arms.
“Allow me to take my leave.” Mu Bai packed up his medical kit and bowed to Chu Yunshen before leaving.
After Mu Bai left, Xiaowu hurriedly bowed to Chu Yunshen. “Allow me to take my leave too.”
Then he quickly ran after Mu Bai and said, “Doctor Mu, can you save me some meds? The little fellow’s claws are getting sharper by the day.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao realized that Chu Yunshen had been staying home these days for her sake after hearing what Mu Bai said.
She suddenly felt somewhat touched and meowed gently at Chu Yunshen while she looked at him with her bright watery eyes.
“I’m going to the palace for the victory banquet tomorrow. Stay home and behave while I’m gone.”
At the drop of Chu Yunshen’s voice, the little fellow in his arms seemed clearly unhappy.
“Meow!”
Why wasn’t he taking her to the victory banquet?
Cheng Xiaoxiao was so angry that she nudged Chu Yunshen’s chest hard.
“Meow! Meow!”
Then she pulled him hard with her paws.
Did he know how hard she worked for the victory banquet?
Why wouldn’t Chu Yunshen let Cheng Xiaoxiao go?
“Meow meow!”
She didn’t care!
She wanted to go!
“The palace is a dangerous place. Be good and stay home. I will bring you something nice on the way back.”
Chu Yunshen could tell that the little fellow wanted to go for the victory banquet and was throwing a tantrum in his arms. He stroked her head as he coaxed her.
How would the little fellow know that the victory dinner was a trap?
“Meow!”
No!
Why couldn’t she go?
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned to face Chu Yunshen with her back. She had worked so hard collecting spiritual power, so she could be in time to take human form for the victory banquet and eat delicacies from the palace. How could he undo all her effort and make her stay home?
“If you refuse to behave, I will tell Xiaowu to lock you up in a cage tomorrow.”
The palace was no joke.
So he couldn’t let the little fellow have her way.
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard, ‘cage’, her fur exploded. She hastily turned to look at Chu Yunshen with disbelief and resentment. He once promised her never to cage her again.
