Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 47
Chapter 47 Being watched
“Qin!”
Wan Xia frowned and wanted to pick up the cat again.
“Miss, Prince Jing will never let you keep the cat,” said Qin suddenly when Wan Xia went over to the lion cat, “If you bring it back, there’s only one outcome.”
Wan Xia halted in her steps and looked up at the cat.
The cat unexpectedly stood there and waved goodbye with her paw before she darted off and concealed herself in the busy streets.
“Did the cat just say goodbye to us?” asked Qin quizzically.
Wan Xia was already on the horse carriage, so Qin got in quickly.
She opened the window blinds as the carriage moved and glanced in the direction the white cat had run off to.
Qin kept muttering nonstop.
Wan Xia was unhearing of Qin. Instead, she clenched her fists as they hung on the side of her body when she thought about the lion cat. The cat had escaped!
The cat had to count herself lucky.
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought about the woman as she hurried back to Prince Jing’s residence.
Why did she find her so awfully familiar?
But she barely met any women since she transmigrated to this world.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was certain she had never seen Wan Xia before, but the nagging sense of familiarity made her look at her again several times.
The stray dogs were still in the alley behind Prince Jing’s residence when Cheng Xiaoxiao got there.
But they weren’t eating this time and only lying around.
They hastily craned their necks out and turned to look at Cheng Xiaoxiao when they noticed her presence.
Cheng Xiaoxiao paused.
They placed their heads back on the ground when they saw it was Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Then Cheng Xiaoxiao darted in through the dog hole.
After she got back home, she ran towards Chu Yunshen’s room.
She jumped in through the window to see that the room was exactly as she left it. Other than the baby bird, no one else was there.
Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the table and released the baby bird from the cage.
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird instantly bounced around joyfully.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao rubbed it with her head before playing with it.
She looked at the jade pendant hanging from her chest as she played. It had gotten a lot brighter.
It appeared she had gathered enough spiritual power for another transformation, but it could only last a minute, so she had to catch more ghosts tomorrow.
Then she could secretly change into a human and enjoy the delicacies at the victory banquet.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was confident that she could transform into a human for a long time very soon, considering her ghost-catching skills.
The door creaked open when Cheng Xiaoxiao was playing with the baby bird on the floor.
Chu Yunshen was somewhat surprised to see the baby bird playing with the lion cat. Why was the little fellow so well behaved today?
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao ran over to Chu Yunshen and acted adorably to him,
“Hmm? Why is she so obedient today? Didn’t she go out?” said Xiaowu as he walked in behind Chu Yunshen. The moment he entered, he saw the lion cat acting cute to the prince.
He scratched his head perplexedly. Did the cat stay in the room obediently all day?
“Master, there is dirt on the little fellow’s clothing. Why would there be dirt on it if she was indoors all day?”
Xiaowu suddenly noticed the dirt on the lion cat’s garments with his sharp eyes. He swiftly squatted down and noted, “She must have gone out today for sure! The little fellow is getting smarter by the day. She even knew she had to hurry back to the room before you returned. Just to be safe, why don’t we make her a new cage?”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao growled at Xiaowu threateningly as she waved her claws
.
“Tell the kitchen to send some milk paste,” said Chu Yunshen to Xiaowu as he glanced at the dirt on the lion cat’s garments and noticed her flat tummy.
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu before stepping out.
After Xiaowu left, Chu Yunshen took out a blue dress and got Cheng Xiaoxiao changed.
“Where did you go today?” asked Chu Yunshen as he looked at the dirt on Cheng Xiaoxiao’s garments before tossing them aside expressionlessly.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao sweetly meowed before she rubbed Chu Yunshen’s arm with her head.
Chu Yunshen raised his arm and dodged Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head and asked calmly again, “Where did you go?”
“Meow meow.”
Then Cheng Xiaoxiao helplessly pointed at the garden outside the room with her head.
“The garden?” asked Chu Yunshen calmly as he looked in the direction the cat was pointing.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao quickly nodded.
Then Xiaowu came in with the milk paste and said, “Master, the milk paste is ready.”
Chu Yunshen picked up a spoon with his right hand and held a small bowl with his left as he placed the milk paste into a few small bowls.
He held up one bowl and blew it to cool it while he left the other bowls to cool on their own. Then he glanced at the lion cat.
And the lion cat swiftly ran to his side with her eyes shining brightly.
Chu Yunshen placed the bowl in his hands before her. The lion cat stuck her tongue out to lick it.
“Slow down. It’s hot.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed as she ate the milk paste. She had been running around all day, so she was famished.
After she finished the milk paste, Chu Yunshen left her to play with the baby bird while he had dinner.
She could overhear Xiaowu talking to Chu Yunshen about the victory banquet over dinner.
“Master, I found out that the Emperor denied the Empress’ request when she wanted to organize a victory banquet. Imperial Concubine Su helped put in a good word and said they hadn’t organized any banquets to welcome you home yet either, so it was the perfect opportunity to do it since you cracked the case. Then the Emperor reluctantly approved the Empress’ request.”
Chu Yunshen’s eyes turned slightly darker as he lowered his head to eat porridge.
It seemed the victory dinner on the 20th was a trap.
After Chu Yunshen finished dinner, he went over to the study to read.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had curled up next to the baby bird’s cage, and they were staring at each other.
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao started nodding off on the table, the door suddenly opened 15 minutes later.
Two servants came in with a bathtub.
“Master, the water is ready,” said Xiaowu before turning to leave with the servants.
“Mhm,” replied Chu Yunshen. Then he glanced at the lion cat and looked at Xiaowu.
Xiaowu instantly knew what Chu Yunshen wanted. He walked over to the table to pick up the lion cat and brought her to the bathtub, and said, “Little fellow, it’s time for a bath…”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly shivered when the warm water got splashed onto her. She completely woke up.
“Don’t move!” said Xiaowu as he pressed her down.
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s fur exploded. In an instant, the water got splashed everywhere and left Xiaowu screaming nonstop.
In the end, Chu Yunshen came over to help, so the lion cat obediently let him bathe her.
When Chu Yunshen carried the lion cat to the bed, he noticed that the lively cat was already in a deep slumber.
Why was the little fellow so tired?
What had she been up to all day?
The next day, Cheng Xiaoxiao woke to see that the maids had already gotten her changed.
They sure were gentle when they did it.
And didn’t wake her up at all.
Cheng Xiaoxiao darted onto the ground.
DING DING DING!
The sound of a bell came from her paws.
Cheng Xiaoxiao lowered her head to see an exquisite gold bell tied to her paw.
The bell let out a crisp jingle when she walked.
Footsteps came from outside the room.
The door suddenly creaked open.
A maid walked in with some milk paste.
“Little fellow, it is time to eat,” said the maid.
When she caught sight of the cat playing with the bell with her head lowered, she laughed gently and said, “You can play when you’re done eating.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao walked over and finished the milk paste quickly.
Then she lowered her head to figure out how the bell was tied to her paw. The maid couldn’t help laughing when she saw how curious the cat was about the bell.
The cat was so adorable.
After the maid left the room, Cheng Xiaoxiao immediately hooked the bell off with her claw.
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly discovered a silhouette standing at the door. She shook the bell tentatively.
Then the silhouette turned to leave.
It seemed Chu Yunshen made arrangements for someone to stand guard outside.
The moment the guard heard the bell, he would come over and check on her, right?
Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the table helplessly and tossed the bell into the baby bird’s cage. The baby bird immediately picked it up.
DING DING DING!
The bell rang crisply.
She probably had to work more quickly with the ghost-catching this time.
Cheng Xiaoxiao zipped out of the window and ran out. Then she ran over to the kitchen to steal two buns and stuffed them in her garments.
It appeared these clothes had some use after all. Or else, she had no idea how she could bring food over.
Just as she expected, the stray dogs were still in the alley when Cheng Xiaoxiao snuck out through the dog hole.
This time, she walked over to them without hesitation and pulled the buns from her clothes.
“Meow.”
The stray dogs happily whimpered and ran over to her side when they saw the buns in the cat’s paws.
“Meow.”
Go on and eat them.
They were freshly made by the kitchen.
And they smelled great.
The buns smelled so tasty that she almost took a bite when she stole them.
Cheng Xiaoxiao gave the stray dogs the buns before she hurried over to the other abandoned temple she saw previously.
After she was done catching ghosts at the temple, she greeted the stray dogs in the alley before she ran back to Chu Yunshen’s room.
The baby bird was still playing with the bell when she got back. She reached her paw out and retrieved it.
Then she bent over to tie her bell back on laboriously with her paws and mouth.
Since her paws weren’t as dexterous as a human hand, she could only tie it on loosely. It was fine so long as it didn’t fall off her paw.
She curled up in bed and studied her jade pendant. She thought she noticed something different about its glow when she was catching ghosts at the abandoned temple.
But she was in a hurry and didn’t have time to check.
This time, Cheng Xiaoxiao held up her jade pendant against the sunlight for a look. She noticed that the light had changed from green to a light-yellow color.
A yellow light?
She caught approximately 200 to 300 wandering spirits in the abandoned temple earlier.
Did this mean that the jade pendant’s color altered with the amount of spiritual power she collected?
The door opened with a creak just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was studying her jade pendant.
Cheng Xiaoxiao covered the jade pendant with her fur right away. Then she lowered her head to play with the bell on her paw.
The bell crisply chimed as she played with it.
A servant stood at the door and looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao while she lay in bed before closing the door behind him gently.
He hadn’t heard the sound of the bell for some time and was worried that the prince’s cat ran off again.
After Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu returned to the residence in the afternoon, the servant whispered into Xiaowu’s ear
Xiaowu walked over to Chu Yunshen and bowed as he said, “Master, the bell works. The little fellow has been in the room all day. The servant just said the bell kept ringing all day.”
“Mhm,” replied Chu Yunshen before heading back to the room.
The moment he opened the door, he saw the little fellow curled up and sleeping in bed.
He walked up to the bedside and looked down at the white ball of fur on the bed from overhead.
The little fellow seemed to get exhausted easily of late.
“Meow!”
The little fellow suddenly opened her eyes and pounced onto him from the bed as he contemplated.
Chu Yunshen’s eyes turned dark. What was going on with the little fellow?
He raised his hand to see that the little fellow had merely lunged into his embrace and was rubbing him with her head.
