Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 45
Chapter 45 Granny cat demon
Chu Yunshen opened the door to see the little fellow sitting in bed playing with the strap.
The maids came to tell Xiaowu that the lion cat was up, but they didn’t manage to finish dressing her.
Chu Yunshen happened to overhear it, so he wanted to come and see how the little fellow looked in those garments.
“Does it look good?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to use her paws to tie the strap. Then a shadow fell over her, and a familiar cold voice suddenly came.
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily looked up to see Chun Yunshen suddenly appear.
“Meow.”
Why did he make her wear this?
It was so uncomfortable.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Yunshen sadly.
Chu Yunshen raised his hand and fastened the strap by her arm. His lips curved up slightly as he said, “This fits better than the wedding dress.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly realized. She accidentally put on Chu Yunshen’s mother’s wedding dress when she took human form. However, in Chu Yunshen’s opinion, his cat wanted to wear clothes.
Xiaowu took her measurements because they wanted to make her some garments and not a cage.
“Master, you have such a keen eye. The little fellow looks so much more energetic in the red outfit,” said Xiaowu as he appeared out of nowhere with a tray filled with a few garments.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the clothing in the tray. Judging from their size, they were probably hers.
There was clothing in green, yellow, blue… every color available.
“Take a look. Which ones do you like?”
Chu Yunshen took the tray from Xiaowu and placed it on the bed to let Cheng Xiaoxiao take her pick.
Cheng Xiaoxiao took a step back and shook her head.
Chu Yunshen glanced at the tray and asked, “Nothing you like? Then I’ll get them to make you more.”
“Meow!”
No!
It was a complete waste to make cat garments using such high-grade silk. Although she was the cat in question, she still felt the pinch!
If he made her a long dress with such fine silk, it would probably feel very comfortable.
But a cat would only feel strangled wearing it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had no choice. She pointed at two simpler green and blue outfits and prodded at them.
She did her utmost to pick some less conspicuous outfits. Or else, they would be able to spot and catch her quickly wherever she went.
“Sigh. The little fellow doesn’t have good taste. The green and yellow ones are prettier,” said Xiaowu as he waved the green outfit in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao, “Little fellow, why don’t you choose again?”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao pushed herself off the ground and pounced at Xiaowu. It must have been his stupid idea.
A pair of hands grabbed her in mid-air. Before she wrapped her mind around it, she fell into Chu Yunshen’s embrace. Then his deep voice came to her ears, “Make her a few more similar outfits.”
“Yes, Master!”
Xiaowu glanced at the two outfits the lion cat picked. They were very simple, and he felt that animals looked cuter wearing something brighter.
If the lion cat were a dignified young lady, these two simple outfits would look gorgeous on the lion cat.
Since she was a lion cat, it looked odd for her to dress so simply.
But Prince Jing had given the order, so he could only place the garments back on the tray and left the room.
Chu Yunshen did some reading with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms.
Chu Yunshen kept staying stuck on the same page.
After Chu Yunshen fed her milk paste at mid-day, Xiaowu said something to him. Then Chu Yunshen left her in the room and went out with him.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao picked up two pieces of beef jerky and jumped onto the table where the baby bird’s cage was placed.
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird happily jumped the moment it spotted the white cat.
Cheng Xiaoxiao placed the beef jerky into the cage and watched as it picked up a piece and ate happily.
Then she instantly jumped off the table and swiftly jumped out an open window.
Cheng Xiaoxiao found a dog hole while she was strolling around the residence yesterday. The dog hole led to a remote alley outside the residence.
“Meow!”
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao wriggled out of the dog hole, she spotted a pack of wild dogs standing nearby about three meters away eating something.
She was so startled that she darted into a nearby hole.
Cheng Xiaoxiao waited a while, but the dogs didn’t come chasing.
So she reached her head out and saw them focusing on their food still.
WHIZZ!
She hastily darted past them.
The dogs swiftly turned to look at Cheng Xiaoxiao when they noticed the commotion. Cheng Xiaoxiao was so petrified that she froze immediately.
She recalled it was a bad idea to move when one got surrounded by dogs.
After the dogs looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao for a few seconds, they lowered their heads to continue eating.
Only then did Cheng Xiaoxiao see the rotten vegetable roots the dogs were eating.
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao felt the dogs meant no harm, she left boldly.
After Cheng Xiaoxiao left the alley, she closed her eyes and chanted in her heart, “Hear my order, jade pendant and open my eyes.”
Then she scoured the city after she opened her eyes.
She was caught by surprise by the large number of wandering spirits lingering around 10 kilometers outside the city center.
The wandering spirits in the abandoned temples outside the capital were enough for her to make one human transformation.
Cheng Xiaoxiao headed over to an abandoned temple, but piercing ghost howls came from inside before she entered.
“Stop right there!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao shivered. She wanted to retreat, but the jade pendant suddenly slid out of her fur.
She hung her head to look at the jade pendant at her chest and instantly gathered her courage.
What did Cheng Xiaoxiao have to fear with this jade pendant around?
“Do you hear me? Stop right there!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao walked up the steps with her head held high. Then another shrill sad ghost howl came from behind the door.
“I didn’t hear you,” replied Cheng Xiaoxiao slowly. Then she opened the temple door with her paw.
RUMBLE!
The dilapidated temple door fell crashing to the ground when Cheng Xiaoxiao pushed it with her paw.
“AHHH!”
Ghost howls came from the abandoned temple.
“How… how can a cat speak like a human? Are you a cat demon?” said a silhouette from a dim corner as it shivered.
Cheng Xiaoxiao recognized the voice. It was the same one that sternly told her not to enter the abandoned temple.
She headed over to the dark silhouette.
Countless dark silhouettes kept shrinking into the corner of the wall everywhere she walked as they muttered nonstop.
“Who… who knows where the cat came from?”
“I… I don’t know! She looks like she’s here to make trouble. I’ve never seen cats dressed in clothes when I was alive.”
“Yes, that’s right. I’ve never seen a cat who could talk like a human! Only mynas can do that.”
“Hurry up. She’s coming over. Hide.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao ignored the other dark shadows. Instead, she raised her head, jumped into the corner of the wall nimbly, and asked the dark silhouette that spoke to her earlier, “Who are you? Pay your respects to Granny Cat Demon!”
Hmph! How dare the brat scare her!
She was almost terrified to death!
“Ah? Are… are you really a cat demon?” asked the black silhouette, which was so petrified that it stammered.
“Yes, I am!” answered Cheng Xiaoxiao as she stuck her head into the shadows and looked with her contrasting eyes and spotted a roughly 20 year old boy, shrinking into the dark corner.
“AHHH!”
The boy was so terrified that his body went soft when the cat’s head suddenly reached over. He instantly kowtowed Cheng Xiaoxiao and said, “Granny Cat Demon, forgive me! I didn’t know how powerful you were. Please spare me! Granny Cat Demon, forgive me!”
Then waves of begging surged from all the dark corners in the abandoned temple.
“Which one of you calls the shots?” asked Cheng Xiaoxiao. She spotted a battered altar by the side and quickly jumped onto it before she continued, “Come out.”
“Me… me…” came a meek voice from the dark corner behind the door.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked in the direction of the voice. An old man with a white beard had shrunk into the dark corner.
“How many wandering spirits are there in here?”
“Granny Cat Demon, 233 wandering spirits,” replied the old man as he bowed. He was so afraid that he didn’t dare to look up at the cat on the table.
Although he had been dead for decades, he had stayed here the entire time. After he became a ghost, he only gained the ability to pass through walls.
He could usually manipulate some rookie ghosts, but he wasn’t brave enough to pit himself against this cat demon.
“Why haven’t you reincarnated? Isn’t it better to get yourselves reincarnated than to become wandering spirits?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao scanned her eyes through the abandoned temple. This place was completely barren. She had no idea why these ghosts would rather stay here than go for reincarnation.
“We didn’t want to become wandering spirits either. After our spirits departed our bodies, we had nowhere to go and could only wander around. In the end, we found this shelter,” replied the old man hoarsely.
“Yes, exactly! Yes, exactly!” someone chimed in from a dark corner.
“Then do you want to reincarnate?” asked Cheng Xiaoxiao as she pulled the jade pendant out with her paw. Then she jumped in front of the old man and continued, “I can help you,”
“Really?”
The old man immediately stepped out of the shadows the minute he heard he could reincarnate and stop being a wandering spirit.
Since ghosts were terrified of sunlight, he continued to stand in the shadows as he asked, “On what condition?”
When the old man walked out, Cheng Xiaoxiao noticed a glowing thread behind him tied to an old lady on the other end.
However, the old lady was still alive.
“Tell me about your unfinished business in the mortal realm,” said Cheng Xiaoxiao as she looked at the old lady lying in bed with shallow breathing. She seemed to be saying something as she lay in bed.
“Dad, I forgive you. I’m coming to see you,” said the old lady before she breathed her last breath and closed her eyes forever.
“I… I made a mistake when I was young, and my wife died because of it. My daughter hated me for it and didn’t look at me even when I was on the brink of death. She told someone to send a message and said I wasn’t fit to reunite with her mother in the Netherworld!” said the old man as his eyes slowly turned red. Even though it happened ages ago, he couldn’t help feeling sad.
“Your daughter has forgiven you,” said Cheng Xiaoxiao as she saw the thread behind the old man suddenly snap. Then she held up the jade pendant with her paw and said, “You can reincarnate now.”
“Really? Has she forgiven me?” asked the old man with his eyes red. Then his hand trembled as his body floated towards the jade pendant uncontrollably.
“She’s waiting for you at the Netherworld.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao could see the old woman standing at Meng Po pavilion and refusing to drink the soup. She told Meng Po that she could sense that her father was on his way to the Netherworld.
