Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 41
Chapter 41A wedding dress
“Wow. I knew you were different when Lan’s mother brought you over yesterday.”
A swarthy ghost who looked like a manservant reached his head out from the well. He looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao standing on top of the well with his eyes bleeding and said, “I can’t believe you can see and talk to us!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the servant whose head had gotten split opened and asked, “How did you end up looking so creepy?”
“Sigh… I was plain unlucky! I was working when a tile suddenly flew from the roof and killed me.”
“Huh?” said Cheng Xiaoxiao in shock. She thought it was impressive enough that she died choking on food, but she just met someone who literally died while he was walking.
“I was muddle-headed when I was on patrol at night and fell into a lake and drowned,” said an unusually fat and bloated ghost as he floated out of the well.
“I died of tuberculosis,” said a ghost with bloody blisters on his lungs as he floated in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“I died of old age,” said a translucent ghost who seemed completely normal.
……
Lots of ghosts suddenly swarmed before Cheng Xiaoxiao and scrambled to tell her how they died. Cheng Xiaoxiao was dumbstruck.
She concluded after listening to all their stories.
These ghosts didn’t reincarnate because they had strong feelings towards an object or human before they passed away, so they remained in the earthly realm and didn’t reincarnate.
But after those objects or people disappeared, they discovered they had transformed into wandering spirits.
The Netherworld officials seemed to have forgotten about them and never came to take them.
They witnessed Lan’s mother heading for reincarnation after she was pulled into Cheng Xiaoxiao’s jade pendant.
So these wandering spirits were all filled with hope instantly when they saw Cheng Xiaoxiao again.
All of them hoped that Cheng Xiaoxiao could help them reincarnate.
“Mhm, I understand,” said Cheng Xiaoxiao as she walked up and down the well on her paws. Although she was delighted, she kept up a calm façade and said, “Queue up. Let’s go one by one.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought it was going to be a formidable task and would take days before she could address their undone business.
It turned out all they needed was a way into the Netherworld. Now all she had to do was send them on their way.
There must be 20 to 30 ghosts here.
She effortlessly caught them all and increased her performance as a ghost catcher, and helped to rid Chu Yunshen’s home of wandering spirits.
Come month-end, she could confidently demand employee benefits from Hei Wuchang and Bai Wuchang.
Considering she had been working hard and didn’t skive.
After all the spirits in the well had gone into Cheng Xiaoxiao’s jade pendant, she felt that it had become a lot brighter.
It felt like a mobile phone on the verge of getting charged fully and glowed like it was close to the point of saturation.
What was going on?
A shadow fell on her just as Cheng Xiaoxiao looked down at her jade pendant and wondered what was happening to it. Then a large hand hastily grabbed her by the waist and said, “Little fellow, aren’t you a lion cat sent as tribute from Wu? Why do you behave like some bandit and just keep doing dangerous things?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head to see Xiaowu chattering nonstop overhead, and a thought crossed her mind.
Oh dear!
She got caught red-handed again!
Since Xiaowu was back, it meant Chu Yunshen was home too.
Cheng Xiaoxiao planned on secretly catching all the ghosts and sneaking back into the room before Chu Yunshen got home.
But it seems her plans were foiled.
“Master, the little fellow was playing on a well!”
The moment Xiaowu returned to the room, he ratted out Cheng Xiaoxiao to Chu Yunshen as he handed her to the angry prince.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Yunshen’s utterly dark face and hastily shrank into his arms and covered her face with her paws.
“Xiaowu, bring the cage over,” ordered Chu Yunshen coldly.
“Meow.”
No!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was shocked. Then she implored Chu Yunshen.
Xiaowu scratched his head. He looked at the lion cat in Chu Yunshen’s arms and said helplessly, “Your Highness, I don’t think an ordinary cage will be enough for her. Shall I get the blacksmith to tailor-make something?”
Xiaowu vowed as he assured Chu Yunshen, “I promise she won’t be able to escape this time.”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hissed at Xiaowu. Then she looked at Chu Yunshen imploringly and clawed Chu Yunshen’s shirt and meowed softly.
Chu Yunshen looked sideways at Xiaowu and said, “Bring the cage over.”
“Yes, Master!” said Xiaowu. Then he brought an ordinary cage over to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen placed Cheng Xiaoxiao in the cage and shut its door. Then he said coldly to her, “You need to do some reflection tonight.”
If Chu Yunshen didn’t punish the little fellow, she would do more dangerous things in the future.
She simply shouldn’t have played at the well.
If she fell…
Chu Yunshen stared at Cheng Xiaoxiao in the cage even more coldly at the thought.
“You better reflect on what you did,” said Chu Yunshen. Then he placed the cage by the wall and pointed to it as he said, “Face the wall.”
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao leaned prone against the cage bars and meowed sweetly at Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen deliberately stiffened his face and said angrily, “Turn around.”
“Meow meow meow meow.”
But Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t want to.
“Aren’t you going to turn?” asked Chu Yunshen as he glanced at her coldly and placed his hand on the cage door.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was so startled that she turned to face the wall. No, correction. She was so angry that she turned to face the wall.
Chu Yunshen was so petty!
All she did was sneak out of the room!
She could have reincarnated ages ago into a human if it weren’t for him!
Why would she have to suffer this abuse?
She was human after all. It was simply stifling for her to stay put in the room all day and obediently wait for her master to come to play with her.
Xiaowu walked up in front of the cage and looked at the lion cat who was facing the wall and teased, “Master, the little fellow has such a poor attitude. I saw her staring at you angrily.”
“Meow!”
Xiaowu!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was going to scratch him to death!
Cheng Xiaoxiao hastily turned and hissed as she brandished her claws at Xiaowu.
“Go get 20 paddles from the punishment officer!” said Chu Yunshen to Xiaowu while he looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao sternly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at Xiaowu as she gloated in her heart. Then she succumbed to Chu Yunshen’s stern look and turned indignantly.
When Xiaowu heard Chu Yunshen ordering his punishment, he swiftly realized the error of backstabbing Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“Yes, Master,” replied Xiaowu as he bowed. Then he glanced at the lion cat who was reflecting on her actions.
Prince Jing was severely biased because he pampered the cat.
Xiaowu would get physically punished when he made mistakes, but all the cat had to do was face the wall and reflect.
Their treatment was poles apart!
Chu Yunshen put out the candles and lay in bed to sleep.
A soft body suddenly snuggled into Chu Yunshen’s pillow. Although his eyelashes moved, he didn’t open them.
Cheng Xiaoxiao curled up into her usual spot carefully. She slowly inched towards Chu Yunshen and was afraid that he might throw her back into the cage to reflect if she woke him.
“Mhm.”
Chu Yunshen flipped over to face Cheng Xiaoxiao. Cheng Xiaoxiao was so nervous that she didn’t dare breathe when he exhaled evenly over her face. After a long time, Chu Yunshen stopped moving.
Then she heaved a sigh of relief and snuggled against his neck to sleep.
After Cheng Xiaoxiao fell asleep, Chu Yunshen, who had been sleeping, suddenly opened his dark eyes. His eyes glinted in the darkness as he stared at the lion cat.
The next day, the sun was already shining into the room when Cheng Xiaoxiao opened her eyes. She scoured the room, but only she and the caged baby bird were here.
Had Chu Yunshen left?
She jumped off the bed before jumping onto the table. Then she raised her paw to open the baby bird’s cage.
“Chirp chirp!”
The baby bird instantly jumped out happily.
Cheng Xiaoxiao rubbed the baby bird with her head. Then the baby bird jumped onto Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head immediately.
“Meow.”
Hold on tight baby bird.
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed at the baby bird before she jumped off the table and headed out the window.
“Meow!”
After Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the window ledge, she was caught by surprise when she saw netting outside the window. Heavens, what was going on?
“Where are you going, little fellow?
“Meow?”
Xiaowu?
Why hadn’t Xiaowu gone with Chu Yunshen?
“Master is in the study,” said Xiaowu as he hobbled towards Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then he stopped at the net and gloated as he said, “If you don’t want to get punished, I suggest you jump back in.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at him and jumped back into the room huffily.
“Keep a close eye on her.”
“Yes, Sir!’
Xiaowu could be heard talking to a servant.
Then she heard Xiaowu leaving.
Cheng Xiaoxiao placed the baby bird on the floor. Since she wasn’t allowed to go anywhere, it appeared she had to sit and wait for her master to play with her.
CREAK.
The door opened.
A maid came in with a large bowl of milk paste and a plate of jerky.
“Little fellow, time for breakfast.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to go on a hunger strike to protest Chu Yunshen’s actions, but the baby bird had already hopped over to grab the beef jerky.
She instantly dropped the idea.
As the saying went, hunger was the root of all discontent.
After she had her fill, she would have the energy to fight with Chu Yunshen!
At the thought, Cheng Xiaoxiao zipped up to the maid and drank the milk paste that she had spooned into a small bowl. She finished the entire bowl of milk paste in no time.
Cheng Xiaoxiao sat at the center of the hall and burped after she finished breakfast and watched as the maid removed the crockery.
The door creaked shut gently.
After the baby bird had its fill, it played with a piece of beef jerky and entertained itself.
Cheng Xiaoxiao started to cause chaos in Chu Yunshen’s bedroom.
They had underestimated her ability to counterattack.
Did they think she would behave if they locked her in the room?
Hmph!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was a cat.
And cats caused chaos when they got bored.
She was going to dig out everything in Chu Yunshen’s room and show them how much damage she could deal!
Let’s see if they dared to cage Cheng Xiaoxiao again in the future.
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao had a highly motivated personality, she got to business right away.
She darted around inside Chu Yunshen’s bedroom and made a mess.
In no time, Cheng Xiaoxiao wreaked such havoc in Chu Yunshen’s room that the floor was completely littered.
BANG!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was immediately startled.
She turned to see a big box falling out of the cabinet.
Fortunately, she dodged just in time. Otherwise, she would be done for if the hefty box crashed on her.
What was this?
Cheng Xiaoxiao pulled the box cover off and tossed it aside to reveal a wedding dress.
All kinds of precious stones were sewn onto the wedding dress, making it dazzle under the sun.
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her paw and touched the jewels on the wedding dress. It was made with exquisite workmanship, and each gemstone was handsewn onto the garment.
It was gorgeous.
