Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 37
Chapter 37 Capture the real murderer
Xiaowu retreated a step while prison guards swarmed up from behind him, and heated combat took place.
The men in black were more highly skilled than most of the prison guards. Some prison guards survived while others perished. As many casualties lay sprawling on the ground, the men dressed in black seemed to be on the verge of breaking through their encirclement.
SWISH SWISH!
A few pebbles came shooting in from outside the temple.
The pebbles hit the men in black just as they were about to escape the temple.
“OOOH!”
“AHHH!”
Then the men in black fell from mid-air and came crashing down. In the blink of an eye, knives were placed by their necks as the prison guards shouted, “Don’t move!”
The prison guards rushed over and instantly subdued the men in black.
After they apprehended the men in black, some of the prison guards looked out of the temple quizzically, but there was nothing other than sheer darkness of the night.
That was strange. Where did the pebbles come from?
Xiaowu signaled outside, and the secret guards hidden under cover of the night disappeared instantly.
“OOOH!”
“Oh no!” screamed the prison guards. Xiaowu instantly turned back.
The men in black who were tied up spat blood one after another. Xiaowu swiftly squeezed one of the men by his jaw as he was about to consume the poison hidden in his mouth and commit suicide.
He dug his hand into the man’s mouth and attempted to remove the poison capsule. In the process, he dislocated the man’s jaw.
Then Xiaowu shouted to prison guards beside him, “Keep a close eye on him!”
“Yes, Sir!” replied the prison guard as he held on tightly to the man in black.
Fortunately, they managed to save one of the men in black. Or else, all their efforts would have gone to waste.
Xiaowu had already sent someone to the residence to report to Prince Jing while they escorted the man in black to the justice department jail.
Since the man was crucial to the investigation, Prince Jing wanted him interrogated the very night they arrested him so as to avoid any accidents.
At Prince Jing’s residence.
“Your Highness, we caught him!”
Chu Yunshen immediately woke up and sat up in bed when he heard the man’s report.
“Bring Yueying over,” instructed Chu Yunshen coldly.
“Yes, Your Highness!” replied the man instantly before he went to prepare Chu Yunshen’s horse.
Cheng Xiaoxiao opened her eyes in a daze and saw Chu Yunshen standing by the bed getting dressed.
“Meow.”
She climbed out of bed and landed by Chu Yunshen’s feet and rubbed his legs as she went, “Meow.”
She wanted him to carry her.
Chu Yunshen’s lips curved into a smile as he carried Cheng Xiaoxiao’s fluffy little body up and placed her back in bed. He covered her with a blanket and asked, “Did I wake you?”
“Meow.”
Instead of sleeping, where was Chu Yunshen going in the middle of the night?
Cheng Xiaoxiao meowed resentfully and dug her claws into Chu Yunshen’s clothing with her eyes groggily half-opened.
“I’m going to work. Go back and sleep.”
Chu Yunshen rubbed Cheng Xiaoxiao on her back gently a few times before she slowly released her grip on him.
After the little fellow went back into a deep slumber, Chu Yunshen smiled even more deeply. The little fellow fell asleep so quickly.
Chu Yunshen left the room as he contemplated. He mounted onto Yueying and hurried over to the justice department.
The sky was like dark ink as it swallowed everything in sight.
A sudden rapid tapping came from the darkness.
Xiaowu had been standing outside the justice department waiting for Chu Yunshen. He swiftly straightened his body and walked down the steps and looked towards the sound when he heard it.
Chu Yunshen instantly arrived outside the justice department riding his horse, Yueying.
“Master, the man in black is now in jail,” reported Xiaowu to Chu Yunshen as he took Yueying’s reigns.
“Let’s go!” said Chu Yunshen before walking over to the jail briskly.
Xiaowu handed Yueying to the servant beside him and said, “Take good care of it!” Then he swiftly trailed behind Chu Yunshen.
Inside the justice department jail.
“AHHH!” came the hysterical screaming of a man as Chu Yunshen entered the dimly lit jail.
PAH!
The crisp sound of a whip hitting flesh rang in the quiet jail.
Then the jailor’s creepy voice floated out from the prison, “Tell me! Who was the mastermind?”
“No one told me…OHHH… to do it! Just kill me!” screamed the man in black weakly at the jailor.
“Do you want to go on denying?”
HISSSS!
“AHHH!” screamed the man in black in agony as the scent of burnt meat wafted from the prison.
Chu Yunshen walked into the prison to see the jailor holding a red hot iron torture instrument while he glared viciously at the man in black.
The man in black hung his head and seemed to have passed out. A patch of burnt rotting flesh was showing through his tattered black garments.
“Bah! I was wondering how strong you were! You fainted so easily!” said the jailor. Then he glanced at the bucket of water nearby and told the jailor by the side, “Wake him up!”
“Yes, Sir!” said the other jailor. He immediately picked up the bucket of water and splashed it onto the man in black.
“OOOH!”
The man in black spat saltwater from his mouth and slowly opened his eyes.
“Tell me who was the mastermind!”
The jailor went close to the man in black once more but with a pair of pliers this time.
“Just kill me… AHHH!” screamed the man in black piercingly before he managed to finish his sentence.
An entire piece of bloody fingernail shockingly appeared in the jailor’s pliers.
The prison guards by the door instantly knelt and paid respects to Chu Yunshen when he walked into the room, “Your Highness!”
The jailor turned to see Chu Yunshen and swiftly tossed the bloodstained pliers in his hands into a basin by the side.
Then he hurriedly went over and bowed to Chu Yunshen, “I, the justice department’s jailor, pays my respects to Your Highness!”
“What have you interrogated out of him?” asked Chu Yunshen with his dark eyes staring at the badly beaten up man in black bound on the pillar.
The jailor stuttered, “Your Highness, it seems like he is a well-trained kamikaze warrior. All he wants is to die and simply refuses to say anything!”
“A kamikaze warrior?” sneered Chu Yunshen with his eyes narrowed as he sat down in the interrogation room.
Then he glanced at Xiaowu.
Xiaowu nodded and instantly told the jailor, “Step aside. I’ll take over the interrogation!”
“Yes, Sir!”
The jailor stepped aside hesitantly as he looked hard at Xiaowu. The jailor had always carried out interrogation using extreme methods, but this tough nut left him helpless.
But the prince’s personal guard seemed confident he could pump out of the man in black.
So the jailor wanted to see how Xiaowu squeezed intelligence out of this kamikaze warrior.
“Just kill me!” shouted the man in black.
Xiaowu stepped up in front of the man in black with his dark eyes narrowed. He removed a custom-made whip, which was covered with tiny hooks.
“If you don’t want to suffer, then tell us what you know,” said Xiaowu before he whipped the man. Sprays of blood instantly spurted from the man’s body. Then pieces of flesh fell onto the ground or remained on Xiaowu’s whip when he pulled it back.
The jailor looked at the whip in Xiaowu’s hand and didn’t notice anything special about it. He paused to contemplate when he spotted the fine hooks on the whip. Although it was effective on the average suspects, it was probably futile against this kamikaze warrior.
“Kill me!”
A few whips later, the jailor was shocked to see the contorted expression on the man’s face. He kept begging Xiaowu, “PLEASE! JUST KILL ME!”
Xiaowu coldly sneered as he whipped again. His whip was covered with Mu Bai’s special medical powder, so it was no joke.
The moment someone came into contact with this medicinal powder, he would suffer hallucination and feel like he was being cut by a knife repeatedly.
It was as excruciating as a thousand arrows piercing one’s heart.
He would get an adrenalin rush and end up keenly sensing the pain as it heightened.
Mu Bai said most people would plead for mercy after a single whip. This man was considered rather resolute since he started begging only after six blows.
“Tell me, who sent you to the Shanshen temple?” asked Xiaowu as he went closer to the man in black with the whip in his hand, “What were you doing there?”
“No! No, don’t!”
CLANG!
The piercing sound of iron chains jangling rang through the jail.
The man in black struggled hard when he saw the bloody whip in Xiaowu’s hands.
Terror brimmed from his eyes as he kept fighting to free himself from the chains with his arms, but the chains merely tightened with his struggling.
“I… I…” replied the man in black. He was in a panic, so his lips trembled as he was about to speak. However, he immediately swallowed his words after a thought crossed his mind.
“Fine!” said Xiaowu coldly as he glanced at the man in black and raised his whip again.
“I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you everything!” shouted the man loudly just as Xiaowu’s whip was about to land on him.
Xiaowu turned to look at Chu Yunshen, who nodded.
“Who did you take your orders from?” asked Xiaowu coldly as he put away his whip.
The man in black hung his head and replied weakly, “The deputy minister of agriculture, He Yuanbai.”
Xiaowu was stunned. How could it be He Yuanbai?
He hastily raised his whip and pointed it at the man in black, and asked, “Why did he want you to go to the Shanshen Temple?”
The man in black looked at Xiaowu’s whip and his eyes constricted. Then he nervously replied, “ He wanted us to recover evidence of him hiring an assassin!”
“Master!” said Xiaowu after he walked up in front of Chu Yunshen, “He Yuanbai was the culprit.”
Chu Yunshen sat leaning into the chair. His lips curved as he laughed wickedly and said, “Go on then.”
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu immediately. Then he and the jailor went to the He residence to arrest He Yuanbai.
……
“How dare you! What do you mean by this?”
Chu Yunshen was sitting in another jail cell with a cup of tea in hand. After he took a sip of tea, He Yuanbai’s indignant roars suddenly came from behind.
“Sir He,” said Chu Yunshen with his dark eyes narrowed as he set his teacup down. He Yuanbai’s hair was in disarray as it hung to his waist while he was dressed in white inner garments.
“Give Sir He some clothes,” said Chu Yunshen as he glanced at Xiaowu.
Xiaowu instantly caught his drift. Then he instructed the jailor right away.
“Your Highness, why did you bring me here in the middle of the night?” asked He Yuanbai with his eyes red and fists clenching tightly. He no longer looked like the refined man he once was.
Chu Yunshen looked up at him and replied intriguingly, “Shouldn’t you know best why you’re here?”
“I have no idea,” replied He Yuanbai as he walked up in front of Chu Yunshen and bowed, “Your Highness, please give me a proper explanation. Or else, I’ll report it to His Majesty accordingly!”
“Sir He,” said Xiaowu when the jailor came back to him with a set of prison uniform. Then Xiaowu took the garments from the jailor and handed it to He Yuanbai and continued, “Please put this on.”
“What is the meaning of this?” asked He Yuanbai as he glanced at the prison uniform in Xiaowu’s hands. Then his face went crimson red as he continued indignantly, “I’m a fourth grade official!”
“But you killed Deputy Minister Gu’s daughter!” said Xiaowu as he glanced sideways coldly at He Yuanbai and tossed the prison uniform onto him.
To think Xiaowu thought He Yuanbai was one of the most well-mannered men among the capital elites. From the looks of it now, he was worse than Young Master Di.
He had the audacity to raise his voice at Prince Jing!
“That’s nonsense!” said He Yuanbai as he hurled the prison uniform onto the ground and clenched his fists tightly, “Why would I kill Deputy Minister Gu’s daughter?”
“That’s what we’d like to know too!” said Xiaowu. He sent for the man in black. Then he yanked him before He Yuanbai and asked, “Sir, do you know this man?”
“I don’t know him.”
He Yuanbai clearly froze for a second when the man in black was brought before him.
A murderous look arose in his eyes the moment he glanced at the man in black. The kamikaze warrior had chosen to live instead.
