Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 29
Chapter 29 Luohun Forest
Two servants helped Gu Ruoshan as he walked out from inside the room just as Chu Yunshen was about to leave the Gu residence with the cat in his arms.
Gu Ruoshan had learned from his servants that Prince Jing was about to leave, so he immediately got his servants to bring him over.
“Your Highness…,” shouted Gu Ruoshan to Chu Yunshen as he was about to leave the mourning hall. Then he knelt stiffly onto the ground and said, “Farewell, Your Highness!”
Chu Yunshen pressed his hand onto the restless lion cat’s head. He walked up in front of Gu Ruoshan to look down and say, “Don’t worry, Deputy Minister Gu. I will find the murderer.”
“Thank you, Your Highness!” said Gu Ruoshan with tears streaming down his face.
“Meow!”
Don’t go!
Gu Bixuan’s body was still buried in the rear garden.
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept thrashing around hard while she was in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
She shouted at Gu Bixuan, who was crouching over her coffin and crying in the mourning hall, “Help me! I know where your body is!”
Gu Bixuan turned her head toward Cheng Xiaoxiao with her body still crouching over the coffin and asked, “Where is it?”
“Help me yank his hands off me,” said Cheng Xiaoxiao as she glanced at the hand pressing on her head.
“Stop moving!” said Chu Yunshen as she patted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head. The little fellow kept snuggling into his embrace. Was she trying to make trouble again?
“How can I help?” asked Gu Bixuan as she reached her hand to a candlestick nearby. Her tender fingers ran right through the candlestick. Then she continued, “I can’t touch anything.”
“Erm…” said Cheng Xiaoxiao dumbstruck. It looked like she could only count on herself.
She raised her paw and meowed, “Meow!”
“Master, be careful!” said Xiaowu when the cat suddenly went crazy in the prince’s arms. Then he hastily removed the cat from Prince Jing’s arms.
Hmph!
“Meow!” Cheng Xiaoxiao took the opportunity to scratch Xiaowu out of revenge for locking her in the cage.
Xiaowu cried, “OW!” He loosened his grip on the cat and held his hand up to inspect it. There were several red gashes on the back of his hand. Fortunately, he had good reflexes, or else the prince would end up getting scratched.
“Stop running!” shouted Xiaowu. The lion cat ran right into the Gu residence’s rear garden after scratching him, so he immediately gave chase.
Chu Yunshen felt that the little fellow was acting strangely, so he followed behind her.
Deputy Minister Gu and Gu Ruoxuan followed closely behind her into the rear garden too.
“Master, someone seems to have touched this soil before!” said Xiaowu as he pointed at some loose earth under a peach tree.
The cat went straight to the peach tree when Xiaowu chased after her. Then she stopped fleeing and used her paws to dig the ground nonstop.
Xiaowu found it a little odd, so he went forward for a look to discover that the earth was fresh.
Chu Yunshen caught sight of the lion cat digging something nonstop with her paws under the peach tree. He frowned and said, “Dig it.”
“Yes, Master!” replied Xiaowu before turning to look at Deputy Minister Gu. Then Deputy Minister Gu caught the drift and immediately called for the housekeeper, Laifu, “Dig this part up!”
“Yes, Master!”
Laifu immediately got some servants to dig up the earth under the peach tree with shovels. The corner of a green garment quickly emerged from the ground.
Gu Ruoshan suddenly shouted when he caught sight of the corner of the dress, “Xuan’er! It’s Xuan’er! Hurry up and dig!”
The servants dug swiftly right away. They dug up the headless corpse from the ground after digging with their shovels before long.
“Xuan’er!”
Two servants helped the trembling Gu Ruoshan over to the headless body. Gu Ruoshan pushed his servants away and slowly squatted down. As he raised his hand to pat the dirt off the corpse, he said hoarsely, “Don’t be afraid, Xuan’er! Dad’s here!”
“Dad!”
Gu Bixuan knelt before Gu Ruoshan and used her translucent hand to wipe the tears off Gu Ruoshan’s face as she said, “I’m right here! Don’t cry, Dad! I’ve always been by your side.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s eyes turned red from the sight. She closed her eyes and turned off her third eye but discovered she could still see Gu Bixuan after opening them.
But the green thread along Gu Bixuan’s waist had disappeared, and her head had attached back onto her body.
Cheng Xiaoxiao closed her eyes once again and opened them, but Gu Bixuan didn’t disappear.
What was happening?
Why couldn’t Cheng Xiaoxiao turn off her third eye?
Cheng Xiaoxiao lowered her head to see that the jade pendant on her neck was giving off a light green glow.
“Deputy Minister Gu, I’m sorry she died. Why don’t we let the coroner perform an autopsy on Miss Gu so that we can find the murderer soon?”
Xiaowu stepped forward. He sensed something chilly in the atmosphere surging towards him as he approached Gu Ruoshan. But before he wrapped his mind around it, the coldness dissipated.
He rubbed his hand from the coldness. It was the second time he sensed this, and it gave him the creeps. It looked like he ought to take a good bath after getting back home to cleanse his body of this bad luck.
“Xuan’er.”
Gu Ruoshan kept looking longingly at his daughter’s corpse. Xiaowu reached out to hold Deputy Minister Gu by the arm and helped him up from the ground. Then he told the servants, “Get some people to help your master.”
“Yes, Master!”
Xiaowu handed Gu Ruoshan to the Gu Resident servants before glancing at the coroner. The coroner immediately brought his box over to the headless body. He removed a white cloth from it and lay it on the ground. Then he told the servants beside them, “Please help to move the deceased onto this cloth.”
“Yes, Sir!”
Then the servants immediately moved the headless body onto the white cloth.
The coroner looked at the housekeeper standing beside them and said, “Please bring her head over.”
Laifu glanced at Gu Ruoshan, who nodded. Then he walked swiftly over to the mourning hall and came back with the box containing Gu Bixuan’s head before long.
The moment the coroner pieced her body together, Gu Bixuan suddenly got sucked into her corpse. Then she sat up from her body with tears brimming from her eyes. Gu Bixuan remembered everything.
Gu Bixuan clutched her chest as she screamed piercingly, “WHY DID HE LIE TO ME!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was surprised. Had Gu Bixuan recovered her memories?
“Meow.”
She sat next to Gu Bixuan and asked her, but she could only meow the moment she opened her mouth.
Cheng Xiaoxiao stared at the jade pendant on her neck. She could clearly see Gu Bixuan, so why couldn’t she communicate with her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao closed her eyes and chanted, “Hear my order, jade pendant and open my eyes.”
After she opened her eyes, she turned her head towards Gu Bixuan and asked, “Did you remembered everything?”
She could speak again!
Did the jade pendant malfunction?
She could see the spirits of the dead without using the chant, but she needed her third eye two communicate with ghosts.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had to tell Hei Wuchang and Bai Wuchang about this the next time she saw them.
“Hehe!” laughed Gu Bixuan in self-deprecation. She stood up from the corpse before floating over to Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then she said dejectedly, “He told me he was Jiang Wenbin and hailed from Zhongcha Village about 100 kilometers away from the capital. Everyone in the village planted tea and camellias could be seen everywhere during this season. I believed his sweet nothings and disregarded Gu Qianqian’s advice and eloped with him!”
“But the moment we left the capital, he became a different person. He didn’t laugh or talk to me. I asked him about it several times, but he told me to shut up,” said Gu Bixuan while her pitch went up, “Then he brought me to a deserted house with some other people in it in the mountain forest. Something felt off, so I attempted to escape, but he…”
Gu Bixuan seemed like she had recalled something painful. Her features twisted together as she continued, “He suddenly took out a sword from behind him and stood in front of me with his sword raised. Then my head fell to the ground. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was my decapitated body as it stood there.”
He was very swift with his sword!
The sword Gu Bixuan was talking about was probably the Feixie Sword that Xiaowu mentioned.
“Do you remember what the sword looked like?” asked Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Gu Bixuan went into a daze. Then she recalled, “I remember that the back of the blade curved just like its blade. There was a blood trough on each side of the sword and two ripple patterns on it. The blade looked very sharp, and the hilt was…” Gu Bixuan paused to gesture its length before she continued, “About this long. It must have been about 3 to 4 inches long. Also, it was sandwiched by two pieces of animal bone.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao went dumbstruck listening to her.
The coroner had finished performing the autopsy on Gu Bixuan’s body. He walked up to Chu Yunshen and bowed as he said, “Your Highness, I have completed the autopsy. The deceased didn’t get tortured while she was alive. She was killed with a single blow when her head got hacked off. Also, I made a new discovery.”
Then he stuck his hand inside his medical kit and retrieved a white handkerchief. He opened it carefully to reveal a few wilted plants before he continued, “This oldenlandia was found on her body and can only be found in Luohun Forest in the capital’s countryside!”
“Luohun Forest?” asked Chu Yunshen as he glanced at the dried plants on the handkerchief. He turned to Xiaowu and said, “Send her back home.” Then he glanced at the lion cat under the peach tree.
Xiaowu acknowledged Chu Yunshen’s order and walked up to the peach tree. Just as he was about to grab the lion cat, she suddenly turned and darted in front of Chu Yunshen.
“Meow!”
No!
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to go with them to Luohun Forest.
She didn’t want to go back!
Chu Yunshen looked at the lion cat as she gazed at him eagerly. Then he bent over to pull her into his arms and said, “Be good. It’s dangerous in Luohun Forest. Wait for me at home.”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head and held on tight to Chu Yunshen’s robe with her claws. She didn’t want to go home!
“Behave,” said Chu Yunshen with his eyes cold. He stared at the cat for a while before forcing her into Xiaowu’s arms.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hooked her claws onto Chu Yunshen’s robe. Some silk thread from Chu Yunshen’s robe got entangled onto her claws as they pulled her from his arms.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao entangled even more silk thread onto her claws.
But Chu Yunshen calmly disentangled each silk thread from her claws gently.
“Keep a close eye on her,” said Chu Yunshen as he looked at the lion cat in Xiaowu’s arms. Then he turned away.
“Yes, Master! Don’t worry!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept thrashing as Xiaowu walked up to the residence with her in his arms. Even after his entire arm got scratched by her, he refused to let go.
“Be good and wait for us in the residence,” said Xiaowu as he placed the lion cat into the cage. He locked it with the gold lock. When he first brought the lion cat home, he discovered that the cage’s gold lock was intact.
Xiaowu looked at the gaps in between the sticks on the cage. He tore some large strips of fabric from his garments and wound them tightly around the cage, and left only a small gap for her to breathe from.
It couldn’t be helped.
For the sake of the cat’s safety, he had to do it.
“Send her back to the residence!” said Xiaowu to the driver after he pulled down the horse carriage blinds.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao snuggled in the dark cage. That stupid Xiaowu had wrapped the strips of fabric around the cage very tightly.
“See you soon,” said Xiaowu as he waved at the horse carriage in the distance.
There was finally some peace.
Xiaowu saw Chu Yunshen talking to Gu Ruoshan after he returned to the Gu residence, so he stood next to them and waited
After Chu Yunshen was done talking to Gu Ruoshan, he leaned close to Chu Yunshen’s ear and said, “Master, I’ve sent her back. I promise that this time, she will stay locked in the cage.”
“Mhm,” said Chu Yunshen as he nodded his head calmly, “Head to Luohun Forest!”
“Yes, Master!” said Xiaowu as he bowed.
“Farewell, Your Highness,” said Gu Ruoshan as he saw Chu Yunshen out of the residence. Then Gu Ruoshan knelt and kowtowed Chu Yunshen as he sat on the horse.
