Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 25
Chapter 25 Save me Hei Wuchang
“Maybe it wants to come out. Forget it. His Highness told us to take care of it, and there is still plenty of food and drink in its cage. Let’s get back to work quickly. Or else the housekeeper will catch us skiving again.”
Help!
Cheng Xiaoxiao put her paws down as the door slowly closed.
“Little fellow, consider yourself unlucky for seeing my face! Even if you are just a cat who can’t speak, I can’t let you live!” said the handyman as he tightened his grip on Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was about to breathe her last breath, Bai Wuchang’s echoed by her ears.
If she died before her reincarnation was ready, then her soul would get extinguished!
Oh yes, she could still summon Hei Wuchang twice!
“Hei Wuchang, save me!” said Cheng Xiaoxiao as she raised her paws and grabbed the jade pendant hanging on her neck. Then she chanted in her heart.
With a swoosh, Cheng Xiaoxiao sensed a force yanking her from the handyman’s grasp.
The handyman looked in astonishment as the cat suddenly flew out of his hands. The cat didn’t crash heavily onto the ground. Instead, she floated in mid-air as though something was carrying her.
The handyman looked beneath the cat, and there was nothing but air.
He instantly spat and cursed, “Preposterous!”
Then he hurriedly opened the door and vanished from Chu Yunshen’s bedroom door.
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t let the handyman escape!
The man snuck into Chu Yunshen’s room and was certainly up to no good!
“Hei Wuchang! Don’t let that man leave!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao recalled that she could communicate like normal with Hei Wuchang, so she instantly spoke.
Hei Wuchang grinned as he flashed his fangs and said, “I’m only in charge of Miss Xiaoxiao’s safety. Since you are safe and sound, then I should get back to work, or else Bai will get exhausted from work.”
Then Hei Wuchang placed Cheng Xiaoxiao on the ground before disappearing with a swoosh.
Hei Wuchang’s faint voice floated through the air, “You can only summon me one time.”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao hissed in fury!
In the study…
“Master, the secret guards I sent to the palace to investigate the matter disappeared,” said Xiaowu to Chu Yunshen as he stood from below.
Chu Yunshen’s face immediately sank. Then he said, “Stop checking on the ministry of revenue and focus on the ministry of internal affairs.”
“Yes, Master!” said Xiaowu as he bowed.
Xiaowu sent two of the prince’s secret guards to the ministry of revenue and internal affairs to check on the requisition records for the Chiting paper.
In the end, the secret guard who was sent to the ministry of revenue returned, but the one who went to the ministry of internal affairs failed to do so.
That secret guard ought to be back by now unless some mishap befell him.
“Meow!”
Xiaowu was about to open the door and leave the study when a white silhouette flashed by. Before Xiaowu realized who it was, the white silhouette had already darted in through the door from between his legs.
Then Xiaowu turned his head to see that a little white cat had appeared in Chu Yunshen’s arms.
“Meow!” Cheng Xiaoxiao told Chu Yunshen about the handyman!
But Chu Yunshen misunderstood the little fellow and thought she was blaming him for leaving her in the bedroom, “Be good,” said Chu Yunshen as he stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s head gently.
“Meow!” Cheng Xiaoxiao brandished her claws and waved at Chu Yunshen. In the end, even after she was exhausted, he didn’t understand what she was trying to say. Instead, he thought she was acting cute.
For the first time, Cheng Xiaoxiao hated the fact that she was a cat now.
So be it if she couldn’t enjoy fine food, but Cheng Xiaoxiao’s inability to communicate with humans was tough on her.
After Cheng Xiaoxiao gestured for a long time to Chu Yunshen while she sat in his arms, someone entered his room.
“Master, I think the little fellow must be hungry.”
After Xiaowu left to send another secret guard into the palace to obtain the Chiting paper’s requisition records at the ministry of internal affairs, he returned to see Cheng Xiaoxiao lying in Chu Yunshen’s arms and brandishing her claws nonstop.
“I’ll get the female cook to send food over.”
“Mhm,” nodded Chu Yunshen as he stroked Cheng Xiaoxiao’s back nonstop. He had only fed the little fellow twice with some milk after spending the entire day at the justice department today.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao slumped her head as she curled up into Chu Yunshen’s chest.
Don’t let her see that handyman ever again!
She would remember him even if he were burnt to ash!
“Hey, Master! Why did the little fellow run off again?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao zipped out of Chu Yunshen’s arms and jumped down. Then she darted through the door.
Xiaowu followed behind the lion cat the entire way and almost ran around the entire residence.
“Meow.” Cheng Xiaoxiao lay on the steps of a pavilion to rest. She was exhausted, but the handyman seemed to have vanished into thin air. After Cheng Xiaoxiao combed the entire residence, his face was nowhere to be seen!
“Oh, heavens! You finally stopped!” said Xiaowu as he leaned against a railing and gasped breathlessly.
When he saw the lion cat lying on the bluestone steps, Xiaowu slowed down and walked slowly towards her. Then he said, “Will you come back with me?”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at Xiaowu lazily as she continued lying on the steps. How was this possible? Was the handyman able to conceal himself?
“Master, I nearly wore my feet to their ankles before I caught up with the little fellow.”
Xiaowu carried the lion cat into Chu Yunshen’s bedroom and carefully placed it in Chu Yunshen’s arms. Then he continued, “Master, it’s one thing for the little fellow to run wild in the residence, but what will we do if she jumps over the wall and runs out? Why don’t I get the little fellow a cage?”
“Meow!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly wanted to pounce onto Xiaowu, but Chu Yunshen pressed her down on her back. In an instant, she was immobile.
“Time to eat.”
Chu Yunshen placed a steamed fish before her. In an instant, Cheng Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up. Then her fur smoothened out, and her claws retracted. “Meow.”
It smelled wonderful!
“Go on and eat.”
Chu Yunshen touched her head. Then he poured some water into the porcelain bowl next to him and placed it before Cheng Xiaoxiao.
“Meow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao rubbed Chu Yunshen’s arm with her head gently. Then she put the fish that Chu Yunshen had given her into her mouth and munched happily.
Forget it!
She did her best and ran around searching for the handyman until she was dog tired but to no avail.
Perhaps the handyman snuck out of the residence because he was afraid Cheng Xiaoxiao would find him.
“Yunshen!”
Then a melodious and crisp voice came from outside.
Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly raised her head from her bowl of water. A woman’s voice?
“Master, it’s Princess Qianqian!”
Xiaowu suddenly straightened his back and looked anxious.
Chu Yunshen frowned. Then he glanced at Xiaowu.
“Yes, Master!” said Xiaowu before leaving the room instantly.
A 16 to 17 year old girl walked in with an entourage of servants behind her. She walked swiftly towards Chu Yunshen’s bedroom.
The young girl wore a light purple pleated skirt with some butterflies sewn onto her skirt hem. A dazzling orchid sat in between her brows, and a purple tasseled hair ornament hung diagonally from her hair. Her eyes were so moist and energetic that they seemed to be able to say anything. Even without wearing rouge on her lips, they were red, and there was only some rouge on her cheeks. Her long hair fluttered gently with the breeze while her long earrings chimed in the wind. She seemed like a goddess standing among lotuses and was so ethereal that people couldn’t help showing affection for her.
Affection?
At the thought of how haughty and willful Princess Qianqian was, Xiaowu couldn’t help clapping as he dispelled this preposterous notion!
“Princess Qianqian!” greeted Xiaowu after he knelt when the princess walked up in front of him.
“Xiaowu, get out of my way! I want to see Yunshen!” said Princess Qianqian as she looked aggressively at Xiaowu, who was blocking the door. She suddenly reached her body over and wanted to walk around Xiaowu, but Xiaowu kept blocking her way.
“Your Highness, why don’t you go back? His Highness is too busy working on cases to see you,” replied Xiaowu as he raised his arms to block Chu Mengqian.
Xiaowu couldn’t let the haughty princess in, or the prince would never forgive him!
“How dare you! If you keep standing here and blocking my way, I will have someone break your legs!” shouted Chu Mengqian as she glanced at her servants, “Get over here! Pull him away!”
“Your Highness!” said Xiaowu as his grip tightened over his sword. Just as things escalated, the door behind opened with a creak.
Chu Yunshen walked out from the office with Cheng Xiaoxiao in his arms, “Mengqian, stop being unreasonable!”
“Hmph! You were the one who refused to see me!”
When Chu Mengqian saw Chu Yunshen come out, the fury on her face dissipated instantly. She stepped forward and grabbed Chu Yunshen by the arm and swayed it around as she said, “Yunshen, you left for so long! Have you forgotten me?”
“Meow.” Cheng Xiaoxiao was on the verge of vomiting the fish she had just eaten from all this swaying.
“Oh, Yunshen. Is that a new cat of yours? She’s so adorable! Can you lend it to me for a couple of days to play with?” said Chu Mengqian as she reached her unwelcome hands towards Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her eyes and watched as the slender and delicate hand before her. She simply detested them.
“Little fellow! Will you come home with me?”
“Meow!” No way!
Cheng Xiaoxiao scratched those loathsome hands as she let out a vicious hiss. With a swish, she jumped out of Chu Yunshen’s arms.
“AH!”
Chu Mengqian was instantly terrified when she saw her hand bleeding, “Oh, my hand! Oh, my hand!”
“Your Highness!”
When the servants saw that the animal was bold enough to scratch their princess, they didn’t care even if she were the prince’s cat!
Cheng Xiaoxiao had scratched the daughter of the Emperor’s younger brother, Prince Gaoyang!
They were going to catch her and chop her up into mincemeat before feeding her to the dogs!
“Hurry up and catch that cat!” said Chu Mengqian viciously as she frowned.
“Yes, Your Highness!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao saw the ferocious faces that suddenly gathered around her. She wanted to seek Chu Yunshen’s help, but the princess who wanted to slaughter her was right next to Chu Yunshen now. So it would be absolutely suicidal if she ran back to him!
“Xiaowu!” said Chu Yunshen as he glanced at Xiaowu. Then Xiaowu immediately joined the other servants as they chased for the cat.
But Xiaowu was there to protect the lion cat while the rest of them were itching to slaughter her.
“Little fellow.”
Since Xiaowu was Chu Yunshen guard, he was definitely more nimble than the princess’ servants.
He pushed off the ground with his toes and landed right in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao. Then he said, “Come over.”
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao saw her savior, she pounced towards Xiaowu.
Xiaowu was truly her savior!
She had been running around the residence all afternoon and was exhausted!
Cheng Xiaoxiao had planned on heading back to the room to sleep after she finished eating.
But the formidable princess who was still unmarried shamelessly came to the prince’s residence in the middle of the night.
Wasn’t morality strictly upheld in ancient times?
Why didn’t anyone talk the princess out of it?
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as the princess held Chu Yunshen’s arm. The more she looked, the angrier Cheng Xiaoxiao got.
Chu Yunshen was a scoundrel!
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help cursing Chu Yunshen in her heart.
“Xiaowu! Bring that cat over! How dare she bite me! I’m going to slaughter it today!”
When Cheng Xiaoxiao heard her, she immediately wanted to leap out of Xiaowu’s arms. But he patted her head gently and whispered by her ear, “Don’t worry. She can’t hurt you with His Highness around!”
“Meow.” Then Cheng Xiaoxiao curled up obediently in Xiaowu’s arms.
“Yunshen!”
Chu Mengqian noticed that Xiaowu wouldn’t come over after a long time. Then she frowned hard and showed her injured hand to Chu Yunshen and said resentfully, “Look at how badly your cat has scratched my hand!”
