Chapter 213 She Lost Her Sense of Smell
Xiaowu kept the porcelain bottle that contained the ointment in his pocket and took out the box. The porcelain box was none other than the hand cream he bought in Caidie Store when he was there with the cat.
“It’s for you. Take it as the payment for the ointment.”
Then, Xiaowu recalled the incident when he had accidentally mistaken the name of the hand cream and felt embarrassed. His face blushed in embarrassment, and even his earlobes turned red.
Looking at Xiaowu, who handed the white porcelain box to him with a red face, Mu Bai hesitated for a moment before slowly taking the box from Xiaowu.
After throwing the “hot potato” to Mu Bai, Xiaowu felt much more relaxed, and even his smile was much more genuine.
The hand cream was a constant reminder of the moment he made a fool out of himself, so he would rather give it to Mu Bai, although it was quite expensive.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Of course, Mu Bai did not know what was in Xiaowu’s mind. He was just curious why Xiaowu smiled so brightly after he took the box. It was as if he was the one who gave the gift while Xiaowu was the one receiving the gift.
“You didn’t put any poisonous insects in this box, did you?”
Mu Bai did not dare to rashly open the porcelain box. He looked at the box lying quietly in his palm skeptically while casting a suspicious glance at Xiaowu.
“You are a doctor. Why are you afraid of these? It’s just a hand cream, and an expensive one. You should thank me for giving it to you for free.”
Seeing that Mu Bai was skeptical about the box, Xiaowu was a little annoyed.
“You don’t have to give it to me then. Just keep it for yourself!”
When Mu Bai heard Xiaowu’s words, he quickly handed the porcelain box back to Xiaowu. Seeing that Xiaowu’s expression changed dramatically, Mu Bai froze and awkwardly retracted his arm that was hanging in the air. He even muttered something.
“I was just joking. Why are you so serious…”
Xiaowu was still having a long face. Mu Bai was thinking about what he should say to comfort Xiaowu after “breaking his heart”, but before he could say anything, he was surprised by the loud noise coming from the courtyard gate, so much so that he almost threw the box in his hand out.
Mu Bai held the porcelain box in his hand firmly and looked at the gate of the courtyard. His fragile little wooden door had been crashed open by someone with a strong kick. Now, half of the door was on the verge of collapse, and the other half was lying alone on the ground, dispersing the dust on the floor.
“Who is it!”
Xiaowu had already rushed to the gate of the courtyard, but he was moving a little slowly as he had to avoid stepping Mu Bai’s medicinal herbs on the ground.
“Don’t worry about the herbs, just go!”
After Mu Bai put the porcelain box in his pocket, he flew towards the gate of the courtyard with his toes pointed and stepped on his precious herbs on the way.
Xiaowu and Mu Bai were very fast, but unfortunately, someone was faster than them.
With the cat in his arms, Chu Yunshen walked in swiftly from the doorless gate of the courtyard. His robe was fluttering with the wind, making him look wise and powerful.
Under the effect of the strong wind, the crumbling door finally could not bear the burden and fell to the ground to join the other half of the door.
“Master?”
Xiaowu and Mu Bai forcibly stopped their footsteps, and the killing intent in their bodies faded away as they shouted in unison.
The two stopped abruptly. The medicinal herbs on the ground suffered even more. At this moment, dust filled the air as the doors slammed to the ground with a mixture of the bitter scent of medicinal herbs.
From the moment Chu Yunshen kicked the door, Cheng Xiaoxiao had been looking up at the man on top of her head.
Chu Yunshen’s usually expressionless eyes were now full of anxiety. His nose bridge was so straight that Cheng Xiaoxiao thought it was a slide. His tightly pursed lips were also so tempting. Just looking at him like this made her drool.
Chu Yunshen was so nervous because of the cat in his arms, so it was no wonder that the cat would stare at him so obsessively.
There must be a reason for Chu Yunshen’s sudden visit in such a rude manner with the cat in his arms.
This matter started when Xiaowu had just left the room.
Not long after Xiaowu went to the Punishment Department to receive his punishment, Cheng Xiaoxiao’s stomach began to growl.
At first, she was the only one who heard it, but later, Chu Yunshen also heard the sound of her stomach rumbling louder and louder.
Chu Yunshen did not tease Cheng Xiaoxiao, nor was he harsh on Cheng Xiaoxiao by deducting Cheng Xiaoxiao’s food for what happened this morning.
Despite that, when she was eating, Cheng Xiaoxiao realized something weird. She couldn’t smell anything.
She didn’t realize it at first. It was only when Chu Yunshen had fed the fish soup to her mouth and Cheng Xiaoxiao still couldn’t smell the fragrance of the fish soup that she realized that something was wrong.
It was about the same time when Chu Yunshen realized her problem. When he was feeding the cat, he was puzzled that the cat kept smelling the food on the table instead of eating her food.
After all, he never had to worry about the cat when it came to eating. She could use both her hands and legs when eating, and most of the time, she was a gobbler. Sometimes, even he couldn’t keep up with her speed.
Therefore, sensing the abnormality, Chu Yunshen stopped feeding the cat and wanted to see what she was trying to do.
Cheng Xiaoxiao sniffed around in disbelief and even climbed onto Chu Yunshen to sniff at him.
A long while later, she sat down on the table with a pout as she looked up at the sky blankly and then at Chu Yunshen.
The cat’s dismayed expression scared Chu Yunshen. He frowned and patted the cat’s head. “What’s wrong?”
Chu Yunshen’s magnetic low voice was like magic which comforted Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly. She just realized that she lost her sense of smell, and Chu Yunshen’s concern eased her anxiety at the right moment.
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head at Chu Yunshen, indicating that he should not worry. Later, she tilted her head and thought for a while, and began to gesture for Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen was not as dimwitted as Xiaowu. After the cat poked her nose and shook her head, Chu Yunshen immediately guessed what she was trying to say with the simple action.
“You can’t smell anything?”
When the cat nodded her head, Chu Yunshen frowned even more, so much so that Cheng Xiaoxiao felt that the wrinkles on his forehead could squeeze a fly to death. Yikes, the fly was a little disgusting. It was better to squeeze her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was not overly anxious about the fact that she lost her sense of smell, as long as she did not lose her sense of taste and it did not affect her appetite.
It was a pity that she could not smell the fragrance of Chu Yunshen now. Fortunately, she could still snuggle up to him freely.
The cat was in a daze again. Chu Yunshen thought that she was upset because of the loss of her sense of smell.
At this moment, Chu Yunshen couldn’t be bothered with feeding the cat any more. He picked up the cat and rushed out of the room. Then, the scene that Xiaowu and Mu Bai witnessed not long ago happened.
After entering the courtyard, Chu Yunshen did not carry the cat into Mu Bai’s room. Instead, he walked to the small pavilion where Mu Bai and Xiaowu had just chatted.
Chu Yunshen strode into the pavilion with the cat. Before Mu Bai could feel his heartbreak as Chu Yunshen trampled on the medicinal herbs on the floor, he heard the crisp sound of porcelain shattering.
“Oh my goodness! My fine Hutian porcelain tea set!”
Mu Bai’s shrill voice echoed across the courtyard, and it immediately attracted Cheng Xiaoxiao’s attention.
Cheng Xiaoxiao tried her best to stick her body out of the crook of Chu Yunshen’s arm, and only then could she see Mu Bai’s slightly trembling nostrils.
Mu Bai held his chest with one hand, while his other hand stretched out and slightly opened his palm in the direction of Chu Yunshen, perfecting the act of heartbreak.
Cheng Xiaoxiao chuckled in amusement, but Chu Yunshen directly knocked her head with his knuckles. This time, he was knocking her for real. Cheng Xiaoxiao could even hear a crisp sound, just like the sound of her knocking watermelons in the past.
“How can you still be so naughty at a moment like this!”
Chu Yunshen sounded a little displeased. It scared Cheng Xiaoxiao so much that she quickly retracted her head. After that, she stuck out her tongue playfully at Chu Yunshen. With a resigned smile, Chu Yunshen pulled down the cat’s paws that she was using to cover her head and massaged the cat in the head.
After massaging her and seeing the cat’s satisfied expression, Chu Yunshen pushed the cat’s head back.
Not feeling the slightest dismayed, Cheng Xiaoxiao simply opened her sparkly eyes and looked at Chu Yunshen in confusion.
“Has Master been in this state recently?”
Mu Bai had already walked into the pavilion with Xiaowu, but when he saw the intimate interactions between Chu Yunshen and the cat, Mu Bai pulled Xiaowu to stand at the entrance of the pavilion and whispered.
Xiaowu didn’t say a word and silently pulled his sleeve out of Mu Bai’s hand. He didn’t want to be punished again.
Mu Bai assumed that Chu Yunshen couldn’t hear him. Xiaowu indicated that he did not know anything about Mu Bai’s fearless behavior and he was not a part of it.
“I came to let you check on her and see what happened to her.”
Chu Yunshen glanced coldly at Mu Bai who was still trying to get some information from Xiaowu. Mu Bai suddenly felt a chill on his back. He was so scared that he quickly stopped talking and walked to Chu Yunshen and the cat.
Chu Yunshen had put the cat on the table, and right now, she was lying on her back.
For a moment, Cheng Xiaoxiao thought that she was about to undergo some strange surgery.
On the other side, Mu Bai motioned for Chu Yunshen to move aside and began to examine the cat. When Mu Bai began to untie the straps of the cat’s robe, Chu Yunshen directly went up and grabbed Mu Bai’s wrist. “What are you doing?”
“Check on her! How would I know what happened to her if I don’t remove her clothes?”
Mu Bai affirmed in a matter-of-fact tone and seemed to be dissatisfied with Chu Yunshen’s interruption of his diagnosis.
“But you haven’t taken her clothes off before.”
Chu Yunshen did not let go of Mu Bai’s hand. In fact, he exerted more strength and gripped Mu Bai harder.
Cheng Xiaoxiao found a comfortable position for herself and watched the drama unfold between Chu Yunshen and Mu Bai.
Mu Bai’s face twisted in a painful grimace. However, he didn’t dare to say anything despite his pain, looking like a damsel in distress. Watching the scene, Cheng Xiaoxiao felt like she wanted to grab a box of popcorn and continue watching the show.
“Because the cat hurt her limbs previously…”
“She seems to have lost her sense of smell,”
Chu Yunshen interjected impatiently.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier!”
Mu Bai struggled free from Chu Yunshen’s hand. Instead of continuing to take off the cat’s robe, he rushed into the house. Halfway through, he turned back and rummaged through the medicinal herbs that had been trampled on in the courtyard.
