Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 188
Chapter 188 Who sent you?
The moment Xiao Yue heard what Xiaowu said, she was genuinely stunned. It was unclear if she was afraid of getting jailed or if she couldn’t believe what Wan Xia had just said.
Wan Xia had already left with Xiaowu. Her lips moved when she walked past Xiao Qin, but she ended up not saying a word.
Xiao Qin bowed to Wan Xia and said: “Miss Wan Xia, take care.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Wan Xia got taken to prison by Xiaowu. Even though it was a joyous moment, she couldn’t help feeling dejected.
She felt empty inside and was at a loss.
She didn’t know what she should do now and didn’t know how to face Chu Yunshen either.
“I am going to the prison.”
After Chu Yunshen finished his sentence, he left the room and followed behind Xiaowu. Xiao Qin and the lion cat sat in the room and looked at each other.
Oh yes! Xiao Yue had yet to snap out of her shock and was still in the room.
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t want to waste any time on Xiao Yue. She could not understand why Wan Xia had let Xiao Yue off.
If she was as scheming as Wan Xia, she wouldn’t have ended up conned by Wan Xia.
Since it had nothing to do with her, she decided to stop thinking about it.
As for Xiao Yue, she decided to leave her alone to think.
“Let’s go.”
After Cheng Xiaoxiao uttered those words to Xiao Qin, she walked over to Wan Xia’s room promptly to retrieve the jade box.
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help feeling impressed. Chu Yunshen must have seen much treasure. Even after seeing what the jade box was capable of, he did not take it away and simply left it lying on the ground.
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t care about the mess. She sat squarely on the ground and invited Xiao Qin to take a seat as well.
Since there was no one else in the room, Cheng Xiaoxiao had nothing to worry about, so she spoke to Xiao Qin openly.
“I was the one talking to you earlier. Do you know who I am? We have already met several times when you were alive.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt it was a mistake for her to bring up Xiao Qin’s death. After a brief silence, she thought about how to change the subject. However, Xiao Qin seemed to have accepted her death well and did not take it to heart.
“I know who you are! You tried to get people to save me. Sure enough, you are a very smart lion cat.”
Xiao Qin didn’t take a seat. Instead, she kept floating around in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao. It seemed as though she was trying to get accustomed to her ghost form.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Xiao Qin floated around and it was starting to make her feel giddy and nauseous. In an instant, she recalled Doudou.
Why did ghosts all like to keep floating around in front of her? It was so annoying!
Cheng Xiaoxiao suppressed the nausea in her belly and did her utmost to compose herself.
“Do you have any unfinished wishes? I can help you to fulfill them and take you to the Netherworld to get reincarnated.”
The moment she heard what Cheng Xiaoxiao said, Xiao Qin stopped floating around and squatted right in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao with her eyes glinting.
“Reincarnation? Can I still get reincarnated? Really?”
“That goes without saying! You just need to tell me about your unfinished business.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao noticed how unusually excited Xiao Qin was. Her previously sad voice sounded a lot happier now.
“But I don’t know what unfinished business I have.” Xiao Qin leaned her hand against her chin and answered Cheng Xiaoxiao disappointedly.
“It’s fine…” Cheng Xiaoxiao knew Xiao Qin had only recently regained sanity after losing her senses for quite some time. Xiao Qin probably needed some time to get accustomed to the situation.
She decided to stop hurrying Xiao Qin. Instead, she told Xiao Qin to take her time and consider.
“Oh yes! Are you able to conceal your form? Can you do something so that no one can see you?”
Since Xiao Qin hadn’t come up with her wish, Cheng Xiaoxiao decided to take Xiao Qin with her.
However, Cheng Xiaoxiao felt a headache coming on when she looked at Xiao Qin’s unusual appearance.
Before she used the jade box to make Xiao Qin’s spirit whole, Xiao Qin looked dim, gray, and smoggy.
Now Xiao Qin’s feet continued hovering in mid-air, but she looked no different from a normal human.
Typically, ghosts didn’t possess solid forms and were translucent, but Xiao Qin’s form was completely solid and Cheng Xiaoxiao was unable to see through her at all.
Was it the power of the jade box doing this?
Cheng Xiaoxiao was both surprised and powerless. She didn’t know how to handle this problem.
“Do you mean like this?” Xiao Qin raised her arm at Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Cheng Xiaoxiao turned towards Xiao Qin and raised her head to look at her, but she did not notice any difference in Xiao Qin.
“…”
Cheng Xiaoxiao went quiet as she contemplated briefly before she said to Xiao Qin awkwardly, “Erm… does anything feel different to you?”
Xiao Qin shyly twisted her robes and her happy voice sounded a lot softer now. “I don’t know either. I thought about it as well, but I don’t know if it worked.”
“Fine. In that case, why don’t we try?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t know what to say to Xiao Qin. However, Xiao Qin was very cooperative and did everything she said, so she found no reason to complain about her.
Since Xiao Yue was inside the inner room, Xiao Qin ought to test the results on Xiao Yue.
Cheng Xiaoxiao pointed at the inner room with her paw and Xiao Qin instantly caught her drift and floated to the entrance.
“Go on. I will wait for you here.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao waved Xiao Qin to go like an anxious mother. After Xiao Qin had gone into the room, she hid outside the door and looked inside secretly.
Time passed second by second. One, two, three…
Why couldn’t she hear anything?
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao was unable to look inside the room from the door, and she was unable to hear anyone talking, she kept anxiously pacing up and down outside.
Then again, no news was probably considered good news!
Didn’t that mean Xiao Qin had succeeded?
The moment this dawned on Cheng Xiaoxiao, Xiao Qin floated out of the room and shouted at Cheng Xiaoxiao from a distance, “She can’t see me! I kept making funny faces to scare her, but she did not see me.”
Xiao Qin beamed brightly. Cheng Xiaoxiao felt infected by Xiao Qin’s smile and her spirits instantly lifted.
“It’s settled then! Let’s go!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to leave with Xiao Qin. Just as she was about to leave, she saw her light red jacket lying on the ground and instantly stopped.
The light red jacket stood out like a sore thumb among the broken bones and leftover food. The snow-white lion cat embroidered on it was already covered in dust and very dirty.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at the light red jacket and sniffled slightly. She placed the jade box on the jacket without batting an eye and left the cold lifeless room using the jacket to hold the jade box.
Xiao Qin didn’t say a word and simply quietly followed behind Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Wan Xia and Xiao Qin left Wan Xia’s quarters before long. As they left, the quarters disappeared behind them gradually until they were unable to see it at all.
Cheng Xiaoxiao and Xiao Qin left without looking back at all. Both of them looked ahead in unison where it was bright and sunny.
Inside the residence prison, Wan Xia was thrown into a small damp cell.
Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu didn’t enter it. They simply stood outside and interrogated her through the bars.
To be clear, Xiaowu was the one during the interrogation.
Chu Yunshen simply stood in front of the table playing with the bottle containing Wan Xia’s unusual fragrance. The moment he recalled the lion cat’s reaction today, he could not help feeling annoyed. Now, there was a deep frown on his sullen face.
Xiaowu naturally noticed the bad mood Chu Yunshen was in. He could only straighten his back stiffly and forced himself to focus on the interrogation. “Miss Wan Xia, are you going to admit to your crimes?”
Wan Xia didn’t care how dirty the cell was. She simply sat down on the earthen ground covered with hay as she arched her back and wrapped her arms around her legs and placed her chin on her knees. No one knew what she was thinking.
Wan Xia’s silence made Xiaowu agitated. Xiaowu had interrogated all kinds of convicts in his life. Even without Chu Yunshen saying a word, he knew exactly what to do.
“Miss Wan Xia, do you think you can get away with it by refusing to speak? The fragrance and Xiao Qin’s statement make perfect evidence.”
“You have already imprisoned to me already, right?”
Wan Xia didn’t stay quiet this time. She raised her head and said mockingly, “There is nothing wrong with the fragrance. In my opinion, it was all in his head.”
Wan Xia’s words sounded bewildering, so Xiaowu didn’t get it and turned to look at Chu Yunshen for help.
Chu Yunshen failed to notice Xiaowu looking at him. Instead, he kept looking at the porcelain bottle in his hands with his eyes lowered. However, it was clear his mind was elsewhere on scrutiny.
Since Chu Yunshen didn’t help, Xiaowu continued interrogating Wan Xia. He continued turning his head to look at Chu Yunshen every now and then hoping to get his attention.
“Miss Wan Xia, I suggest you get to the point. After all, His Highness this only showing leniency because of your special status, so I suggest you don’t try to push your luck.”
“…”
Wan Xia went quiet once more. She leaned her head on the side of her arms as she looked at the blood-stained prison cell wall calmly.
Xiaowu didn’t know what to do, so he cautiously walked up beside the table despite Chu Yunshen’s threatening aura.
Fortunately, Chu Yunshen’s cold voice could be heard before Xiaowu opened his mouth.
“Who ordered you to do it?”
Wan Xia seemed as though she had heard something funny. Even though she was still facing the wall, she sounded happy.
“Ordered me? Your Highness, you think too highly of me. I did it on my own accord.”
A vicious smile emerged on Chu Yunshen’s face before he quickly suppressed it.
“If you refuse to come clean, you will end up suffering.”
“What do you want to hear? Couldn’t I have done it for myself?”
Wan Xia turned her head and looked at Chu Yunshen particularly seriously with no intention of veering her eyes.
“Your Highness, do you remember Wan Yun?”
A glint of hope emerged in Wan Xia’s eyes. She seemed to be hoping to see a change in Chu Yunshen’s expression.
Sadly, Chu Yunshen simply looked away coldly in disdain.
The moment she caught the look on Chu Yunshen’s face, Wan Xia naturally knew what he meant. The light in her eyes instantly turned darker and her beautiful face turned glacial once more.
