Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 180
Chapter 180 A sweet scent in the room
Cheng Xiaoxiao was spot on. Xiaowu didn’t even bother to ask Xiao Yue how she knew about this since it was completely redundant.
“Miss Wan Xia, my apologies, but I really need to ask. The lion cat should have been inside His Highness’ room. Why did you take her out? Also, why did you leave the cat outside to play on her own after taking her out?”
“The lion cat wasn’t alone. I was with her all the time.”
Wan Xia kept crying, so Xiao Yue hurriedly made an excuse on her behalf. However, no one caught the vicious look in Wan Xia’s eyes as she lowered her head and used her handkerchief to wipe the tears from her face.
When Wan Xia raised her head, she reverted to her pitiful act again. It was impossible for anyone to turn a blind eye when they saw Wan Xia crying.
“I simply lost consciousness, but I didn’t lose my memory.”
Chu Yunshen finally glanced at Wan Xia, but he was looking at her like she was a rat and felt disgusted by the sight of her.
Since he clearly looked annoyed by Wan Xia, she eventually cried even more loudly and her handkerchief instantly got even wetter.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Chu Yunshen heartlessly uttered with his cold thin lips, “I did not send for you to clean up.”
Chu Yunshen made it abundantly clear that Wan Xia had masterminded all this on her own. Right from the start, he kept refusing to touch her, but she kept throwing herself at him.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt even more annoyed.
Even if Chu Yunshen didn’t give the order, people often misunderstood him. Everyone was petrified that he would fly into a rage. Otherwise, Wan Xia wouldn’t have anxiously come back to the room to clean up. Also, Cheng Xiaoxiao wouldn’t have to sneak out to eat all the time.
Xiao Yue parted her lips and wanted to speak, but she didn’t know what to say. She only looked at Xiaowu with her round eyes as she pondered hard.
Wan Xia glanced at Xiao Yue before she sobbed as she knelt beside Xiao Yue. She bent over and kowtowed Chu Yunshen.
“I made the lion cat food. Since Your Highness ordered me to watch what the lion cat ate, I decided to secretly let her eat before coming back to the room to clean up.”
Wan Xia had confessed!
Wan Xia finally spoke, but the first thing she said was about how she secretly cooked for Cheng Xiaoxiao. Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t know what to say. Should she call Wan Xia candid in nature? Or was Wan Xia incapable of lying?
Chu Yunshen watched coldly as the lion cat swiftly darted behind the baby bird’s cage. There were oil and food crumbs on her paws and whiskers, so it was clear what she was up to earlier.
But…
“And?”
Chu Yunshen felt so angry and embarrassed that he cleared his throat a couple of times before he finally spoke stiffly.
The moment he said this, tears cascaded down Wan Xia’s face. She cried even more loudly than before and her voice sounded broken, but they could still make out what she was saying.
“I don’t know either… After I came into the room, I felt cold and quickly lost consciousness. Then… I don’t know what happened after that…”
Did the same thing happen to Wan Xia? From the sound of it, Chu Yunshen was unconscious of his actions. Why was Wan Xia saying the same thing now?
Didn’t either of them know what they were doing?
Was this a coincidence or truly a shocking fact?
Chu Yunshen pursed his lips without saying a word. He quickly waved Xiaowu over and said a few words to Xiaowu before Xiaowu left the room.
After Xiaowu left, Wan Xia continued crying while Xiao Yue held her arm and wanted to cry as well.
As for Chu Yunshen, he had walked up to the window by himself.
Cheng Xiaoxiao saw him reaching his hand out and wanting to open the windows several times, but he stopped halfway and pulled his hand back each time.
After doing this repeatedly, Chu Yunshen frowned even more deeply. The atmosphere in the room seemed to freeze over and it felt incredibly stifling in the room.
Fortunately, Xiaowu ran back swiftly pulling a man behind him. It was none other than Mu Bai who could not resist bickering with the lion cat every time they met.
Mu Bai was pulled into the room by Xiaowu in a hurry. Before he was able to steady himself, he could smell the powerful fragrance still lingering in the air.
Mu Bai wrested his arm free of Xiaowu and pulled out a handkerchief.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Mu Bai pretentiously covered his mouth and nose with the handkerchief and straightened his robes with his other hand before he slowly walked up to Chu Yunshen.
“I heard you fell for someone’s trap.”
Mu Bai was clearly gloating. Xiaowu was so afraid that he didn’t dare to look Chu Yunshen in the eyes.
Cheng Xiaoxiao quietly lit two candles in her heart for Xiaowu and Mu Bai and prayed that they would escape Chu Yunshen’s wrath.
Chu Yunshen had told Xiaowu to send for Mu Bai. This meant Chu Yunshen wasn’t entirely an irresponsible scumbag. Cheng Xiaoxiao finally trusted that Chu Yunshen wasn’t putting on an act earlier and something was genuinely wrong.
What was Chu Yunshen suspecting?
Mu Bai was a physician. Judging from what Chu Yunshen and Wan Xia said, was it not more likely they were possessed?
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept staring at Mu Bai and he naturally detected her looking at him.
He surprisingly turned and deliberately winked at Cheng Xiaoxiao. His mesmerizing eyes were utterly flirtatious.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though she might go blind any moment. It was simply unbearable to look at Mu Bai.
Fortunately, Mu Bai didn’t continue flirting with her. He started to investigate the matter seriously as Chu Yunshen cast deathly stares at him.
“The scent in your room certainly smells unusual.”
Mu Bai glanced at Wan Xia profoundly as she knelt on the ground before slowly walking up to the incense burner in Chu Yunshen’s room.
Everyone watched as Mu Bai worked. He walked up to the completely cooled incense burner and opened its lid. He pulled away the handkerchief he was using to cover his mouth and nose and reached his head over to smell the remnants of the incense in the burner.
Mu Bai seemed puzzled. He seemed uncertain, so he fanned the incense with his hand and took a second whiff.
“That’s strange. The fragrance smells different from your incense.”
After watching Mu Bai sniff the incense pretentiously for such a long time, this was all he said. Cheng Xiaoxiao almost wanted to run over and rip him to shreds.
Just as she was thinking Mu Bai seemed mysterious and was gripped in suspense, he shockingly only talked about the fragrance.
This fragrance…
“This fragrance belongs to her.”
Just as the thought crossed Cheng Xiaoxiao’s mind, someone said it out loud. She raised her head and saw it was Chu Yunshen who said it.
Mu Bai glanced at Chu Yunshen mischievously before he covered his mouth and nose and walked up to Chu Yunshen’s study desk.
“I didn’t expect you to know the fragrance Miss Wan Xia was using so well.”
Mu Bai had said something controversial at the worst time possible. Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable hearing this, but she could not protest and could only glare at Mu Bai angrily.
In comparison, even though Wan Xia was the suspect, she kept her eyes lowered and kept crying without making eye contact with anyone.
“Watch your tongue!”
Chu Yunshen suddenly opened the window. The cold wind gusted into the room making the intense humid fragrance dissipate a lot.
The cold wind made Chu Yunshen’s robe flutter as he stood with his back against the light. No one could see his expression, but it was clear from his voice that he was in an absolutely foul mood.
In an instant, Chu Yunshen’s voice sounded even colder than the wind.
Fortunately, Mu Bai had worked with Chu Yunshen for some time, so he merely raised his brow nonchalantly before picking up the teacup on the table and sniffing it. After smelling the tea cup’s exterior, he opened the lid and smelled its contents, and proceeded to hold the teacup close so that he could look at the half-finished tea.
Was Mu Bai a dog in his past life or something?
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought Mu Bai would use silver needles to test if there was poison in the fragrance. Instead, he surprisingly kept smelling the air before he did the same to examine the tea.
Xiaowu couldn’t resist going over to check out the cold cup of Longjing tea. After Mu Bai touched the tea with its lid a few times, he placed it back on the table.
Xiaowu proceeded to ask the questions weighing Cheng Xiaoxiao’s heart, “What is it? Did you find anything? Why didn’t you use silver needles to test for poison?”
Mu Bai looked at Xiaowu in contempt as though Xiaowu was joking.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt Mu Bai was actually calling Xiaowu an idiot when he looked at Xiaowu that way.
Sure enough, Mu Bai didn’t try to be nice as he spoke to Xiaowu and instantly insulted him, “If silver needles were enough to detect this poison, would I be any different from you?”
“You!”
Xiaowu wanted to follow behind Mu Bai and learn more from him, but the moment he heard what Mu Bai said, he walked off huffily.
“You are useless. Can’t you take a minor insult?”
Mu Bai’s insults didn’t stop there. He looked at Xiaowu coolly before walking straight to Chu Yunshen and standing beside him.
If Cheng Xiaoxiao was in a better mood, she would have happily watched as Mu Bai and Xiaowu argued with each other.
Since they kept bickering with each other, they always made an interesting couple.
Mu Bai had already composed himself and reported his findings to Chu Yunshen, “There is fragrance on the teacup, but just a little.”
Chu Yunshen said nothing, so the others remained quiet as well.
The cold gusts of wind coming from the window left Chu Yunshen and Mu Bai’s garments flapping audibly. Other than the sound of their flapping garments, only Wan Xia’s soft sobbing could be heard.
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was starting to think Chu Yunshen would continue staying quiet, he finally asked softly, “What’s wrong with the fragrance?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though someone was squeezing her heart so tightly that she had trouble breathing.
The things Xiao Qin had said in her delirium about how nice Wan Xia smelled and how beautiful Wan Xia looked instantly surged and exploded in Cheng Xiaoxiao’s mind. Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though someone was burrowing her head with an electric drill just thinking about it.
“This fragrance is special, but it isn’t poisonous.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to cover her ears and was afraid to hear Mu Bai’s answer, but his words automatically crept into her ears.
The fragrance wasn’t poisonous…
Was it not poisonous?
That was great! This meant Wan Xia was innocent!
Cheng Xiaoxiao almost wanted to cry. It was just the answer she was waiting for. She desperately wanted Wan Xia to be innocent.
As for Xiao Qin’s words, Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t want to think deeper about what her words meant.
She was exhausted.
She was suspicious of her best friend and wanted to test Wan Xia to find out if there was anything wrong with her. Now she wanted to find an excuse for Chu Yunshen and Wan Xia….
